871 with 2 1100 Aironet Repeaters

I am having quite a bit of trouble with setting up a very simple network.
My objective is to cover a small warehouse with wireless coverage to allow for data collection from remote scales in fixed location.
To reach to the far corner of the warehouse I needed to repeaters as discovered by trial and error. The problem is that the second repeater disconnects somewhat randomly. The disconnect period can be from as little as 30 minutes to has long as 8 hours. When the second repeater disconnects it take roughyl two minutes for it to reconnect. I am attaching the event log in hopes that it means something to some one. Also I am having a somewhat annoying problem that when ever I power down any of the equipment certain parameters are not saved such as the time and on the 871 the DHCP address range resets. I am not sure if this problem is related but it is quite bother some.

  • Server 2008 R2 RADIUS Server with a Cisco Aironet 1040 Wireless AP

I am trying to get Server 2008 R2 RADIUS Server to work with a Cisco Aironet 1040 Wireless AP. I have installed the RADIUS server by MS standards and performed some searches on Google to configure the Cisco Aironet. I see others using a Wireless LAN Controller, which I do not have. I found this post below:
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/11546056/wlc-2504-radius-2008-r2-server
But I have yet to locate a good step by step document on how to set it up and I have found so many different ways that others have set it up, but none have yet to work. I am having authentication issues that I have know of and I do not see any errors in the Windows Event Viewer and I do not know where the Acess Point stores it logs for any sort of error. Keep in mind this is the first time I am doing this. I do not have a Wireless LAN Controller and all my network / domain services are on individually built servers and not on one single server as I have seen with most of the documentation they all say the same thing by putting the Certificate Services, Domain Services (AD / ADS, etc), and NPS. I do not want that configuration and my setup should not be any different, but something is not right. I know from reading that this is not rocket science, but from someone who has never done it before this is difficult as I keep reading on and so many people do it different ways including what I have been reading according to what Cisco says to configure in the environment. Does anyone know where I can find good step by step documentation along with where I can look for logs on either device? I find that all the documentation I see on Cisco's website and from searching that it is old and outdated and not been updated in a long time so it is hard to determine what works and what does not work. I am stumped here and have been doing this for several weeks now with no luck. Thank you in advance.

I did configure the Server 2008 R2 RADIUS Server using this video below:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-0MM_tK-Tk
I also referenced Technet to make sure it was configured correctly as well. I am still not sure if I am 100% setup correctly on the Windows Server side, but I for sure want to make sure I have the AP side setup correctly. Do you know of a better article for the Windows Server 2008 R2 setup? Does it matter that I do not have all the services installed on the same server? Instead I have them installed on multiple servers.
I have image number c1140-k9w7-tar.124.25d.JA1 on the AP. The part that confused me in that article, which I have seen before was the part about "Setting up access point must be configured in the authentication server as an AAA client." What is the AAA Client? I also am not aware of having Cisco Secure ACS anywhere built into the AP as that part through me off completely. Do I need to skip these steps? Thank you for help on this.

  • Using multiple SSID with AP 1100 (standalone mode).

Hi, need to configure 2 SSID on the same 1100 AP: open authentication and WPA2. It's possible to configure these 2 SSID without configuring VLAN's ?
On CCO I've read the following:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/wireless/ps430/products_qanda_item09186a008009483e.shtml
    Q. How many service set identifiers (SSIDs) can you have per VLAN?
    A. You can have only one SSID per VLAN. The use of multiple SSIDs over a single VLAN is not supported with Aironet APs.
It's also true with the latest IOS release ?

  • Issues with cisco 1242 aironets

We are currently experiencing and issue with the 1242 AG Wireless Access Points. We have have them configured as 1 Root Access point and 3 Repeaters. The repeaters seem to be experiencing frequency interference issues. The Root AP is using antenna model 2506 and the repeaters 1728's.
What happens is when the repeaters are first started up, they see / communicate to the root access point fine, but within 5 minutes they stop communicating. If we manually set the channel to something different, they see each other for 5 - 10 minutes then eventually disappear and cannot be ping'd or seen with a sh cdp nei.
We have tried various combinations of settings so far. Have tried channel 1 - 13 and the least conjested frequency mode. It usually settles on channel 8 when we put it in that mode. But it is the same sceneario each time. All 3 repeaters show up almost instantly after a channel change, but slowly disappear in less than 10 minutes.

We are wondering if you have any tips to get around this.
Also,  should these access points be able to handle ~200 clients? How close to the root access point should the repeaters be placed? I basically just go until my signal gets low and put a repeater within that range. Could vary from 30-60 meters away.
    Thanks

Also,  should these access points be able to handle ~200 clients?
APs, in theory, can handle >1,200 clients.  In theory.  In practice, Cisco recommends between 12-25 clients.  Imagine if you have, say, 50 clients and they are trying to access the network on a 100 Mbps FastEthernet connection.  That slows them down, right?  But consider wireless as a broadcast.  One talks and the rest listens.

  • Bridge with 2 x Aironet 2602e

    Hi -
I'm trying to configure two Aironet 2602e (with external antennas) to form a bridge between two buildings. I can't figure out how to get them to run faster than 54 Mbit between them. Currently they just sit at my desk in a test-setup. I think, I should maybe set them up as Workgroup-bridges instead of root-to-non-root, but I don't get other speed options than those 54 Mbit. Also I think it should be done at 5 GHz radio.
Could it be something with encryption mode or is it only possible through CLI or...
    Please help

  • Problem associating 7920 phone with AP 1100

    Hello ,
I have setup AP 1100 in the nw. data connectivity are working fine. Laptops are getting associated with AP. but when i m trying to associate the Wirelss phone 7920 its not getting associated. It gets authenticated. It shows association in progress. On AP it shows ip address 0.0.0.0 and it restart the whole process again. i couldn't manage to figure out the problem. Kindly help me on the same.
    thanx
    anand

    Hi,
If the phone is not associating to the AP you need to verify that the configuration on the phone (check under "Network config" tab) is the same than in the AP.
    Verify
-SSID is set to "specify" and the SSID1 value is the same that what is configured on the AP for that vlan.
-The "Authentication" selected is the same than in the AP. If it's LEAP verify as well the username/pwd configured. If it's Shared key, doublecheck the Web key under Encryption parameter (it's easy to mistype numbers from 1-3 as they are on same key than A-F).
If those two are properly configured you will see under "site survey"a list of AP matching SSID and authentication method.
Make sure as well that non supported features are unchecked on the AP for the vlan where your phones reside(TKIP/MIC,PMIP)

  • Barcode printing issues with Laserjet 1100 8.1 driver

    Hi All,
I've ran into issues printing coupons to my Laserjet 1100 printer using Windows 8.1. This worked with no issues (and still does) in Windows 8. Looking at the driver versions, it appears that something was updated form 8 to 8.1.It seems this issue is related
to printing any barcodes. Has anyone else encounters this? Is there any way I can use the Windows 8 driver instead?

For anyone interested, the way I was able to fix this issue is with the
HP Universal Print Driver for Windows PCL6
    http://h20566.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/public/psi/swdHome/?sp4ts.oid=4157320&ac.admitted=1399039456352.876444892.199480143
I selected Windows 8.1 x64, then downloaded the PCL5 driver and now the barcodes work.

  • Voltage Measuring error in Labview with scxi-1100/1300

I used the Daq wizard to setup my simple loop to measure 6 channels on my SCXI-1100 card with 1300 terminal.  I actually measured the voltage on the terminal block and get 4.6 volts but labview reads from 1.1 to 0.8?  I believe it is something I setup wrong in NI-MAX or my simple labview loop because we switched out the 1100 & 1300 cards - any suggestions on what to check next?  Could my PCI card or SCXI Chassis be causing this problem?
    thanks

Yes.  I am sure it's something simple that I am not doing but I am stumped!
    I have the following setup:
    PCI-MIO16E-4
    SCXI-1001
          SCXI-1100/1300
When I open the test panel it reads the real voltage (that I confirmed on the terminal block with a voltmeter) but when I run the sample program or a simple Daq Assistant scan the numbers are completely different.  I attached screen dumps - please take a look and see if you can catch what I have set wrong etc.
    thanks again!

  • How to configure resistor network on BNC-2095 with SCXI-1100

The manuals are not entirely clear on this point. I have a BNC-2095 that is connected to a SCXI-1100, and will be reading voltage input signals from pressure transducers and other assorted sensors. The manual indicates that I should not use a ground-referenced input with the BNC-2095 and have the 10-ohm resistor networks in place, but it only discusses installing the 10-megaohm resistors for use with the SCXI-1102. What is the correct configuration for use with the SCXI-1100?
    Thanks,
    Tom

    Hi Tom,
Using the 10 MOhm resistor network instead of the default 10 Ohm resistor network with the SCXI-1102 allows you to measure both floating and ground-referenced signals.  According to page 7, Table 2 of the SCXI-1303 manual, this is not recommended with the SCXI-1100.  I will verify with R&D that this is also the case when using the SCXI-1100 with the BNC-2095.
If you are certain that your signal is ground-referenced then you should remove the default 10 Ohm resistor network.  The input impedance should be high enough to prevent any sort of ground loop.  Check page 5, Table 1 of the BNC-2095 manual for the appropriate jumper settings when measuring ground-referenced signals
IMPORTANT NOTE:  Do not attempt to measure a ground-referenced signal with the default 10 Ohm resistor network installed.  This is well documented in both the BNC-2095 and the SCXI-1303 manuals that it may cause damage to your hardware.
    Rod T.

I have a 5450 iPAQ with built in LEAP support. We use the 1100 Aironets on our WLAN. When I enable LEAP on the iPAQ the device never associates to the AP at all?
I have debugged for "dot11 aaa dot1x all" on the AP but never see any events coming through. It looks as if the device is not associating to the AP at all. The status on the device just sits on "Initialiasing".
I'm running 12.2(8)JA on the 1100. Is there a setting I'm missing to support non-cisco hardware from the AP because my Cisco LAN adapter works fine with LEAP from my laptop.
Has anyone else seen this or got it working?

Try resetting all WEP keys on both the AP and the client card. This can help confirm that an error in the key entry was not made, thereby precluding this as a possible source of the inability to complete an association.

  • Help! Syncmaster 1100 blurry when connected to Imac with Mini DVI to Vga

    Hi,
I recently tried to use my Samsung SyncMaster 1100 (21") as a secondary display But when I connect it with the mini dvi to vga adapter to my imac the image looks blurry. Is there some compatibility isue with syncmaster 1100?
Please Help!, I tryed the imac with a different secondary monitor and it works fine. I tested my syncmaster with another pc and it works fine. I don't know what else to do.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Josh,
To start, it is considered extremely impolite to type in all capital letters as you have done. Please use all lower case, or preferably properly capitalised text, in future.
With regards to the problem you're having.. the reason you only see the desktop background is due to screen spanning. If you want the external display to display the same thing as the internal display, go to the displays system preferences pane, and check the box that says "Mirroring"
The color problem is probably due to a loose connection somewhere, either between the iMac and its adaptor, the adaptor and the cable to the projector, or between the projector and the cable plugging into it. If you're still having problems, try different adaptor cables, or try plugging it into a different monitor to try to work out which one is causing a problem.
    Good luck

  • Coverage distance for aironet with antenna

    hi all,
    what's the coverage distance for
Cisco Aironet 2602e Controller-based - wireless access point
    with
    antenna
Cisco Aironet High Gain Omnidirectional Ceiling Mount Antenna - antenna
thanks for any comment you may add.

    1. You've posted this thread in the LAN/WAN section. So you won't get a lot of comments/responses.
    2. What is the EXACT model of the antenna?
    3. How is your antenna installed and the orientation of the clients?
    4. What data rates do you have enabled?

  • 1100 troubles with contacts

    Hey,
I have no problems with my 1100 until I changed the SIM card. All contacts were stored at the old SIM card, so I've copied it to the new one.
Now the phone doesn't resolve incoming call number to the name. The number exists in the contacts. It have the name. I even saved it again ("Call registrar > Received calls > Save") to my contacts. No luck.
I've tried to switch the memory from sim to phone.
I've tried to save a contact to both -- sim and phone. Fail. I still see just a number when I get an incoming call.
I've tried to recall factory defaults but it asks of protection code which isn't documented in the manual. I'm pretty sure that I've never set the protection code. I've tried 0000, 1234, 1111 -- no match.
I do not want to buy another phone. I'm ok with 1100.
    Please help. Thanks a lot!

A couple of things I can think of...
    1) Does this happen with all numbers or just a few? If just a few, could it be that you have multiple contacts with the same number? If so, the phone doesn't know which name to display so just displays the number.
    2) Does the number displayed match the number stored exactly (no extra spaces, both in the same national or international format)?

  • Emsdk-1100 error with OEM Console...

    I've installed Oracle 8.1.7.0.0 on Windows 2000.
    The OEM worked fine.
But after applying the 8.1.7.2.1 patchset,
I got the error 'Emsdk-1100:unable to etablish a secure
communication channel' every time I tried to bring up the console
    (connected as SYSMAN).
    Any help is highly appreciated.
    Hoang Tran

The following fix from Metalink solved this problem for me.
    Problem Description
    1. When trying to start the OEM Console or one of the Management
    Pack
utilities (e.g. DBA-Studio or one of the other Managers), you
    get
    the following error:
EMSDK-1100: Unable to establish a secure communication
    channel.
and the program will not start. When starting the Management
    Pack
utilities in the standalone mode, this error does not occur.
    2. This problem occurs:
    - after the installation of the 8.1.7.2.1 Patch Set on top of
    either
    8.1.7.0.0 or 8.1.7.1.x
    - on the platform Microsoft Windows NT or Windows 2000
    - when on the same machine, in the same %ORACLE_HOME%, the
Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) utilities release 2.2 are
    installed
(e.g. the OEM Console and one or more Management Packs),
    and
the Oracle Management Server (OMS) release 2.2.
    Solution Description
    1. Before applying the Patch Set 8.1.7.2.1, rename the file
    %ORACLE_HOME%\bin\njssl8.dll
    e.g. to:
    %ORACLE_HOME%\bin\njssl8_old.dll
    After applying the patch-set 8.1.7.2.1,
-> rename the new njssl8.dll (causing problem) to
    njss8_new.dll
-> rename old njssl8_old.dll (good version) to njssl8.dll
Start the OMS (or reboot the machine and re-start the OMS).
    2. When no backup of %ORACLE_HOME%\bin\njssl8.dll has been made
    before
installing the 8.1.7.2.1 patch-set, obtain the latest earlier
    version
of this DLL. This file can be found in the 8.1.7.1.1 patch-
    set which
    can be downloaded via MetaLink:
    a. Run WinZip to open the 81711 patch-file:
    p1711240_8171_WINNT.zip
    b. Double-click on the file: WinNT-81711_patchset.exe
and choose "Run WinZip" in the "WinZIP Self-Extractor"
    screen.
    c. In the new WinZip screen, locate the file: lib.0.4.jar
Note: there exist 4 (four) files with the name lib.0.4.jar
Choose the one which will be extracted to the location:
    81711\stage\Patches\oracle.options.ano.ssl\8.1.7.1.1\1
    \DataFiles\
    d. Extract this file to disk.
    e. Locate the file lib.0.4.jar which was extracted to disk
    f. Open this JAR file with WinZip.
    g. The JAR file contains one file only: njssl8.dll
    h. Extract this file to disk in a temporary directory.
    i. Rename %ORACLE_HOME%\bin\njssl8.dll to %ORACLE_HOME%
    \bin\njss8_new.dll
    j. Copy the extracted file (see h.) to %ORACLE_HOME%
    \bin\njssl8.dll
    k. Start the OMS (or reboot the machine and re-start the OMS).
    3. A fix for this problem is not implemented in the 8.1.7.2.x
    patch-set.
Consult [BUG:1946984] in order to find out if a patch is
    available.
    Explanation
In the 8.1.7.2.1 Patch Set, one of the modified DLL's is:
    %ORACLE_HOME%\bin\njssl8.dll
This DLL is also used during the startup of the OEM Console or
    the
Management Pack utilities which login to the Oracle Management
    Server
(i.e. which are using the OEM Repository).
The new version of this DLL, shipped with patch-set 8.1.7.2.1 on
    the
Windows platform, causes a Secure Communication Error, resulting
    in the:
EMSDK-1100: Unable to establish a secure communication
    channel.

    Hi Obinna,
    Sorry about the link :( The problem here is the fact that 12.3.(11)JX is a Lightweight image. Have a look;
Warning: All Cisco Aironet Access Points receiving Cisco IOS Software Release 12.3(11)JX will only function in conjunction with a Cisco Wireless LAN Controller. They will no longer be able to function as Cisco Aironet Autonomous Access Points.
This product bulletin describes the content and delivery information for Cisco IOS Software Release 12.3(11)JX. This is a Cisco Lightweight Access Point Protocol (LWAPP) upgrade and recovery support software image supporting Cisco Aironet 1100, Aironet 1130, Aironet 1200, Aironet 1230 AG, Aironet 1240 AG, and Aironet 1300 Series Access Points.

    You can use this method to convert the AP back to Autonomous Mode (and access via Web);
Reverting the Access Point Back to Autonomous Mode
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/wireless/ps430/prod_technical_reference09186a00804fc3dc.html#wp161272
You can convert an access point from lightweight mode back to autonomous mode by loading a Cisco IOS Release that supports autonomous mode (Cisco IOS release 12.3(7)JA or earlier). If the access point is associated to a controller, you can use the controller to load the Cisco IOS release. If the access point is not associated to a controller, you can load the Cisco IOS release using TFTP.
Using a TFTP Server to Return to a Previous Release
Follow these steps to revert from LWAPP mode to autonomous mode by loading a Cisco IOS release using a TFTP server:
Step 1 The static IP address of the PC on which your TFTP server software runs should be between 10.0.0.2 and 10.0.0.30.
Step 2 Make sure that the PC contains the access point image file (such as c1200-k9w7-tar.122-15.JA.tar for a 1200 series access point) in the TFTP server folder and that the TFTP server is activated.
Step 3 Rename the access point image file in the TFTP server folder to c1200-k9w7-tar.default for a 1200 series access point, c1130-k9w7-tar.default for an 1130 series access point, and c1240-k9w7-tar.default for a 1240 series access point.
Step 4 Connect the PC to the access point using a Category 5 (CAT5) Ethernet cable.
Step 5 Disconnect power from the access point.
Step 6 Press and hold MODE while you reconnect power to the access point.
Step 7 Hold the MODE button until the status LED turns red (approximately 20 to 30 seconds) and then release.
Step 8 Wait until the access point reboots, as indicated by all LEDs turning green followed by the Status LED blinking green.
Step 9 After the access point reboots, reconfigure it using the GUI or the CLI.
