875P and Raid SATA no longer visible or can boot from

Our PC upon rebooting now goes straight to Network book and not the normal boot from Raid 0 that is on SATA.
Is this suggesting that both drives have failed? and as such not giving the SATA raid as a boot option?
Any help appreciated.

I gave little info because there is little to give. Its as simple as it was working one day and the follow day it was not, no BIOS flashing, no OC'ing, no new hardware or PSU change.
Like you said its probably the SATA ports, which means a hardware fault.
As for RMA; when you live in the UK there is no such thing, unlike the USA where you have 3 years to RMA a motherboard.
I sent a message on the UK website to their technical support and I had no response, to be honest I would have been shocked if I did get one. I reported a glitch on the UK website (a bad one at that) to webmaster@ and I got an automated response stating 'For technical issues please use the technical support form here...'
This proves how desperate MSI customers are in the UK if they resort to emailing the webmaster for tech support!
Thanks for your help and I appreciate this forum and those who moderate etc, its the system and our own fault in the UK for excepting it!

I would like to know which (newer and older) Sun machines can boot from SATA disks.
I think this is a feature of the OBP - so the question is:

I am aware the limit with earlier openboot revisions that limit ATA drive size to +130GB>>( search the forum for previous threads on this topic ), I recommend using only
supported drives in Sun SPARC systems. What kind of project are you working on? That's my private test environment. Due to my limited budget I use only older machines there (for example, U10, U30, etc). I was thinking about buying a used V120 or something like that to replace my existing fileserver.
A V120 with two internal 500 GB harddisks would be perfect for that .
Looks like I've to wait until used T1000 are available to a reasonable price.

CD and DVD Drives no longer visible in "my computer"

After loading the i-pod software, the CD and DVD drives are no longer visible in My Computer. They say they are present but not accessible.
Can any one shed any light on this subject

My Father-In-Law is running into the same issue. He can use his nano fine, but he can't see his CD drive. He has discovered that if iTunes is open, then he can access the drive, but if iTunes isn't launched, the drive is not recognized.
He already had an existing version of iTunes on his laptop (it's an HP btw), and his problems started after he used the install CD that came with the iPod.
We are going to try and uninstall iTunes and then just download it off Apple's website to see if that corrects the problem.

My Droid DNA's home, back, and app buttons no longer work or react when pressed. This happened randomly when I was using the phone Saturday afternoon and have since no longer worked. Can anything be done?

This is the second major problem I have had with this phone (first was the SIM card issue where I had no service because the software of the phone wouldn't read the SIM card, has been fixed by an update I downloaded in December).
I really would like to know what my options are, and if I am eligible to get a new phone. This has been by far the worst phone I have ever experienced and am disappointed that I am forced into a two year contract with a phone that has consistently failed me. I am a college kid who is going through job/phone interviews and it is very important that I can rely on my personal phone.

If the home and back buttons are not working it has to be difficult to use the phone. Let's get that device working. Back up your phone and complete a reset: http://vz.to/1uBz20R . Black Screen on MBP, Can hear chime and can boot from HDD via another MBP!

Hope someone can help me here, as I'm at my wits end.
I've got two issues, one with my MacBook Pro 17in, 4GB RAM, 160GB 7200rpm (2008) and another with my iMac 24in. 4GB RAM, 500GB 7200rpm (2009).
Firstly the MBP, left work on Thursday last week, got home, powered up the MBP and got a black screen!!! Tried resetting PRAM, SMC, booting in safe mode, removing and re-installing RAM, removing battery and mains power and leaving off overnight etc etc, yet nothing happens. Benn all over the forums and have not found any solution to get my beloved MBP working on it's own. I can boot off the HDD using another MBP 15in, re-install Snow Leopard and as far as I can tell the HDD is fine, as I have run disk utility and it tells me the HDD is OK.
I can't figure this out and it's doing my head in, as I use this laptop for business use and just can't afford to go out and buy another Mac. I should point out that this MBP never had any issues when running on Leopard, but ever since I upgraded to Snow Leopard, I have had nothing, but trouble. I did a clean install, in fact I have done it at least twice, even erasing the HDD securely, both at 7pass and 35pass, yet I have had permissions issues regularly and on the odd occasion, I have also had the problem of the HDD not being recognised.
The iMac is nearly the same, but the screen is working, although the iMac doesn't see the HDD no matter what way I do, again, reset PRAM, SMC, safe boot etc etc. In truth the iMac has been a lot more unreliable, but with the screen working, if I can get any solutions here, then I'll be working to work on that without the need or hassle of working via another.
I think that the MBP is only just still under warranty, but the iMac definitely is, but I need at least one working for business use, so really only want to let Apple have one at a time to look at/repair etc.
Ideally, as the HDD is working in the MBP, if I could get a solution to the black screen issue, then I could do without the iMac for whatever time it takes, so if there is anyone out there that can help, I'd be so grateful.
One last thing, when I bought the iMac 24in., I also bought an iMac 20in., but I never upgraded the 20in. to Snow Leopard and to this day, it has worked flawlessly, without a single issue ever.
Perhaps, I'm getting paranoid here, but there seems to me to be a link between the ongoing and regularly occurring problems with both Macs ant the upgrade to Snow Leopard. Why also, or is it just pure unadulterated coincidence that both the MBP and the iMac 24in have failed at pretty much the same time??!!!!
I'm going mental here, so I hope someone out there has a better fix, then me overdosing on Prozac!!

I'm not a mac expert, not good with a soldering iron either, but I'm capable of following good instructions.

Concerning your imac, have you tried installing the OS on an external drive and running the iMac from that? My friend in Texas had her iMac's hard drive vanish, so we installed the OS on an external FireWire drive I happened to have and then restored her data from a recent backup. So far I haven't had time to install the drive in her iMac, so it's been running off of the external for a long time now. Perhaps you could do something like that so you could at least have the use of the iMac while your MBP is in the shop. Once you get the MBP back, you can send in the iMac.
Be sure to report both of these to Apple and get case numbers so that you can document that the issues started while you were still under warranty--especially for the MBP that's about to go out of warranty.

Mid-2009 MacBook Pro sees internal SATA hard drive, but will not boot from or format

I inherited a Mid-2009 MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2.53 GHz model) with a very strange issue.
It first presented itself as not being able to boot from the internal SATA hard drive that came with the computer. Nothing I tried could get it to boot, so I assumed the file system was corrupted beyond repair and booted from a CD to try to format the drive. Disk Utility on the CD would not format the drive, giving me strange error messages like "Unable to write to the last block of the device".
At this point I figured the drive itself must be toast, so I pulled it out and put another known-good SATA hard drive in, booted from CD, and attempted to format. Again, same error messages and an unsuccesful format.
So I had the bright idea of formatting one of the drives in an external enclosure and then putting it in the MBP to see if OS X would even install. No dice. Get a cryptic error message before installation even begins.
So I installed OS X on the drive in the external enclosure and put it in the MBP, and it attempts to boot, but never goes anywhere.
So to sum up, the symptoms I'm seeing:
MacBook Pro CAN see internal SATA hard drives.
MacBook Pro WILL NOT boot from any internal SATA hard drive and cannot format or install OS X to any internal SATA hard drive.
MacBook Pro WILL boot from any CD or external device and seems to work properly otherwise.
At this point I'm thinking it's one of two things: the hard drive ribbon cable or the SATA controller on the logic board.
Since the MacBook Pro seems to work completely fine other than this one issue, and will boot properly from both external devices and the CD (also a SATA device), I'm thinking and hoping that it's just the hard drive ribbon cable. From my searches online, I've heard that this batch of MacBook Pros is known to have issues with the hard drive ribbon cable, but it seems in most cases this manifests itself by the Mac not being able to see a drive at all.
I've done quite a bit of troubleshooting to get to this point, but right now I'm just looking for any feedback at all. Specifically I'd love to know a way I can easily test to see whether it's the logic board or the cable.

UPDATE: An interesting development!
I just tried a third known-good SATA hard drive, one which I believe supports SATA I only (but I'm not sure), and unlike the other drives that the Mac sees but cannot properly interact with, the Mac can't even see this one when I put it inside.
Frustrating as this may be, I believe I'm actually getting closer to a solution since my symptoms now appear to be closely aligned with people having SATA ribbon cable issues.

875P and Raid-0 Boot Failure - Rebuild Array?

Hi,
I was running combofix in safe mode when my computer suddenly blanked out and restarted. The 2 Western Digital WD1600JDs are set on the Promise PDC20378 controller and set for Raid-0 Striping. No noises or different temperatures seen, diagnostics recently checked out drives ok. One drive shows FREE the other assigned to ARRAY1. During POST it says Boot Failure. Can this be repaired? Is there a way to test if the Promise controller failed instead?
I have since installed a new WD3200AAKS on the ICH5 as a single drive with a new install of WinXP Pro. Curiously, I could not access bios for ICH5 with Ctrl-I or any other means. Maybe it was looking for 2 drives. I MUST restore or recover data from drives. Freeware recovery data has not been able to detect Promise drives.
What do fellas suggest?

My suspicion is that the drives are ok, that it's a software issue. I've just read about several people deleting the array but not destroying any data and then create a new array identical to the old one without initializing the discs. Have not seen it done with an MSI board, don't know if it would matter.

You don't see drives when using a hardware RAID only the volumes.
WD Green are not suitable for hardware RAID (or software RAID for that matter).
USB2 and TimeMachine are a disaster waiting to happen. I've used SATA (internal) and eSATA (using SATA PCIe cards) trouble-free.

Problem resolved: I didn't get any replies from the Community and was desperate. So, I researched on Apple Support and received very easy to understand instructions - see http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3899 The intructions worked perfectly. Essentially, it was to delete my gmail account and re-enter it. There are a few other steps involved, so read the article. Am I happy!! Thank you to whoever wrote this article.

I upgraded my PC to windows 8 and I am no longer able to stream music from itunes through my airport express.

I still can use the wifi capabilities of the airport express but not the Iplay capability.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.
