[875P Neo Series] 875P Neo P MS-6758(V2.X) PAT Function!

When I Use four Kingston DDR400 memories on the four slots,as though in BIOS I set Performace mode in Turbo(MAT or PAT),the PAT function can't be opened !
the following is my result from CPU-Z
but when just use two 512Mb kingston memories put in slot1 and slot3,The PAT enabled

How can they cheat the customers!
Who is "they"?
Read P4 Neo Unofficial Guide. PAT is explained there. You will see that PAT is not a performance feature that is turned on, it is a feature that allows your memory to function properly at 800 FSB that is turned off.
Have you attempted any benchmarking with software you actually use to determine whether your performance has actually dropped?

  • [875P Neo Series] 875P NEO FIS2R - Bootup delay with disk attached to Promise RAID

    Hi,
I have a problem with my 875P NEO FIS2R mobo. I just added a 400GB SATA RAID-0 array to the Promise controller and now I get a 50 second bootup delay after the BIOS has run through everything and beeped and before the first WinXP splash screen.
I boot up from a 160GB SATA RAID-0 array on the intel ICH5R controller. Both arrays work fine from within Windows. I have two DVD drives on the ICH5R PATA connection but nothing else on the Promise.
If I disable the Promise controller in BIOS the delay goes away.
I have tried disabling SMART, turning off the quick-boot option with no effect.
When I first installed my system I tested performance with booting from a single SATA drive on ICH5R vs Promise and I noticed the same issue, but didn't care then because I only needed one disk so I just kept Promise disabled in BIOS.
Any ideas how I can get around this?
    Regards,
    Jonathan

Sorry I have been a away for a few days.

If the Promise controller was out of the picture (Disabled), and you have the SCSI adaptor and its devices setup:
    1. What is the adaptor's SCSI ID?
    7
    Quote
    2. List devices, position in the chain and their corresponding SCSI ID's.
    #7 Adaptec 2930CU card
    #4 Nikon Coolscan LS30 scanner
    #3 Umax Astra 1220S scanner
    #5 Iomega ZIP 100 drive
    Quote
    3. What type of terminination are you using?
    Adaptec card has auto-termination.
ZIP drive has a termination connector attached.
    Quote
    4. Are the devices in the chain functioning properly?
    Yes.
    Quote
I agree that your problem is your SCSI controller. There may not be anything actually wrong with it. The 2930 was an agressive controller card and its BIOS simply may not coexist with your motherboard's BIOS optimally. Even with the BIOS disabled, it may be competing with the motherboard's request for handlers.
You may want to check to see if there is a BIOS update on Adaptec's website. Adaptec usually released 1 or 2 updates for each SCSI generation they produced. It may or may not help but we need to make sure you have the latest BIOS released.
Unfortunately, this card cannot be reflashed.
    Quote
At any rate, I think you have found the component which is responsible for the delay. I'm willing to assist in diagnosing the issue but I need you to provide the specific information I'm requesting.
Also, try to do a CTRL-Pause to catch exactly what the BIOS version is and any other information which is showing up with the BIOS disabled. The SCSI adaptor BIOS, in fact, should not be enabled in your SCSI configuration as you have described thus far.
Adaptec AHA 2930CU SCSI BIOS v1.34.1.
There seems to be a difference between BIOS and host adapter BIOS. You always get the BIOS screen, but you can disable the host adapter BIOS if it is not required.
I am pretty sure it is not the SCSI chain that is wonr because the pause happens with nothing connected to the card.

  • [875P Neo Series] 875p Neo-FISR (PCB 2.0) Major problems

I just upgraded my system from:
    P4 Northwood 3ghz
    Gigabyte (obsolute old motherbord)
    2 x 512 Hynix pc3200 (400mhz)
    ati x800 xt pe 256mb 1,12 ghz
    450w NorthQ Silent PSU
Now i was reading a lot of benchmarks and tests and finally i bought the 875Neo-FISR...
So what happened when i did a clean install?
I went from 4500 testscore in 3Dmark05 and down to 3000 - i was expecting to hit over 5000 with the new motherboard.
I have testet the ram (swapped them with some other kingstons and geil same scores roughly)
I got the newest dx and ati drivers etc. i even tried the omega drivers, but no drivers can make up for a difference of 2000 in score result.
Also i read that the bios would now read the prober degrees with the new bios - but my bios allways says 75 degrees celsius and when i boot into windows xp (sp2) its on 60-65 and then goes down to around 37-40 as xp stops loading.
I tried checking for heat problems on the mainboard - and the hottest thing is the cooler on the canterwood chip - 2nd hottest thing is the ati card.
Anyone have any idears? Perhaps its a defect card or any suggestions out there?
    Regards.
Forgot to mention that all drivers and utilities etc are ofcause fully updated.
Right now i am running a clean windows xp install with sp2, dx9c and ati drivers + the MSI drivers.

Put my old motherboard back in...

As you can see the ram now perform considerably worse but the cpu is actually beeing used now.
So i reckon i got a defect motherboard.
Sadly the company where i bought it wont switch it with a new one before its been back to the factory and i aint waiting a month on a new board :(
So think ill just use my 14 day return rights and get a asus instead.

  • MSI Neo-FIS2R 875P + Thermaltake Xaser3 V2000a

Anyone have any issues when connecting the RESET connector from the Xaser3 V2000a case to the MSI Neo-FIS2R 875P Mobo? When I do the board will not even POST. Could it be a faulty plug on the case as I doubt its the Mobo?
Btw.. only OCed the processor to 233/466 at default Vcore resulting in 3.26Ghz. Will be going much higher as well as OCed the Ram.
Mind you.. curious why WinXP+SP1 only shows the Processor at 2.80Ghz and not the new speed (3.26Ghz)? SiSandra also shows this but when I use MSI's InfoView it shows at 3.26Ghz. Probably nothing to worry about.. just wondering..

Hi, just helped a friend with his new Xaser case and also had a very difficult time getting it to boot. We discovered that the chasis intrusion switch wasn't fully engaging. Cleared cmos and everything worked after that. Don't know if this will help or not. Good luck, it's a great case.

  • Neo FIS2R 875P LAN Problems...

Got my board back from MSI....the same exact board I RMAd to them after flashing to 1.4 killed it....and the bios is now OK (vers 1.4) and so far it is pretty stable.  BUT....one of the problems I had before was that I had trouble getting the on-board LAN to run, which is one of the reasons I flashed to 1.4 in the first place.
In any case, the LAN is still not working---it detects a connection, an orange light comes on at the connection point when my cable connection is hooked up, says the connection is working, says it sends data, but it isn't receiving data.  I installed my old piece of s*** D-Link NIC, and it runs fine.
Anyone have any suggestions?  Or do I just have a bad LAN on this?
Device Manager says the device is working fine, and I have no conflicts.
Thanks in advance for everyone's help.
    ANTEC True Power 480w
    MSI Neo FIS2R 875P
    P4 2.4 800Mhz
    Corsair TwinX512-3200LL
    ATI 9500 Pro
(that's all I have hooked up right now till it's up and running)

Finally figured out what was wrong---I posted the solution in another thread.  Here's another copy of the post:
I was having trouble getting my on-board LAN to operate. I tried everything I could think of but couldn't get it up and running. Device Manager said it was functioning properly. I suspected a bad RJ45 jack and was preparing to RMA the board.
As a last ditch effort, I contacted my ISP. Based upon prior experiences with them, I was NOT hopeful that they could help. The tech had me try a bunch of things I had already tried. Nothing worked.
Eventually he had me unplug my cable modem, and after 5 seconds, plug it back in. Then I went to the DOS command prompt, gave the "ipconfig/renew" command (which we had tried before without success)....and lo and behold, it was up and running. And after I rebooted the computer, I expected the problem to return, but it was still functioning properly.
He said he has seen this before on Windows XP (I use the Home Edition), and said it has something to do with the way XP initially caches the network connection.
In any case, if anyone else is having similar difficulties, give it a try, and post the results.
After having a lot of initial misgivings about this board, things are looking better. I'm running the 1.5 bios and the board has been rock-solid.
Here's a brief rundown of my rig:
    Antec True Power 470W
    P4 2.4 800
    Corsair TwinX 3200LL (2x256 = 512)
    ATI Radeon 9500 Pro 128
    Maxtor 40G HD
Time to start adding on a bunch of crap and keep my fingers crossed.

  • K8T Neo Series JUSB connecting

    Hello,
While cleaning op my case, and hiding all cabled to optimize my airflow I accidentally ripped out the connectors of the 2nd JUSB connector on my MSI K8T Neo series Motherboard. I first thougt It was made out of 1 connector, but unfortunatly they were about 10 tiny connectors.
that JUSB connector is for my front-side USB 2.0 connectors.
I know how to reconnect them, but I don't know in which order.
They are all different colors and are labled:
2x 'GND' each in an other color, 2x 'Power' each in an other color, ....
I checked my motherboard's  "quick user's guide", about those JUSB connectors, where they gice the correct oreder. My Problem is that the lables in the Manual aren't the same as the labels on the tiny connectors.
Does anyone has the correct order, maybe in color, so that I can reconnect them in a proper way?
    Thank you very much,
    Hans.

865P Neo Series NOT "PE" can support M.A.T? ?(

Bengho, listen up... You have got to look into the website again before commenting on!!! You are the one not catching the ball not me dude... and I've got the confirmation from MSI rep on this and I'm totally right. MSI rep has admit that the info from your link is incorrect for I865P chipset and they will do the alterations soon.
FSB800 CPUs for MSI I865P and I845 are "OVER CHIPSET SPECS" or "OVERCLOCKED ONLY".
Unlike MSI I865PE/G & MSI I875P series which can ORIGNALLY support FSB 800 CPU WITHOUT OVERCLOCKING NEEDED.

I belive I have to invest in a new mobo which supports Sata - generation 2 (300 instead ogf 150 transfer rate)
Which mobo to buy? (Socket 754)

Thank you, blazing storm. After a week of searching for solutions I found
it on Samsungs HDD support site, where the solution was to use a jumper
to reset the speed from 3,0 Gb/s to 1,5 Gb/s.  Because my chipset VT 8237
did'nt support the new HDD's software to run at 1,5 if my mobo did'nt support

  • MSI 848P Neo Series MS-6788 Model

    Hi,
I'm new to building PCs and I have just built a P4 2.8GHz 800FSB Machine with an 848P Neo Series motherboard.
    I have a few issues:
I cannot use a PS2 mouse it simply will not work.
With my PS2 keyboard, turning on num lock or caps lock causes the PC to lock up.
Is there some sort setting in the BIOS I need to change or is the board faulty?
Another issue I had which has now magically fixed itself - when I turned the pc on, I had to turn num lock on and then off to get the monitor to come off standby and to get the pc to start booting - any ideas?
Could you please help with with these problems as I don't have long to return the motherboard if it is faulty.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Maggioni,
Look on side on PSU.....somewhere the will be the different "Rails".... list 12V,3.3V,5V, in AMPS. IE- 12V+ = 20A etc.
Hmmm, as for Keyboard.....is it a standard 105 or 102? Maybe, it is an enhanced with extra keys? Wireless or Corded. (If wireless....try changing the batteries)
Also try changing keyboard....borrow or buy a budget one.

BE careful in your statement Stick .
Quite a few with K8N Neo Platinum (MS-7030) has gotten their board ruined (no-post) over the last weeks
cause by LiveUpdate giving out a wrong MS-7030 bios .
There is three 7030 which use different bioses and is identified on the bios extension name .
MS-7030 versions 1.0 to 2.22 is for the 1'st generation (Neo Platinum and FSR)
The other two have extension 7030.5xx and 7030.7xx and is for Neo-V and Neo V 2.0 .
Think it's a really bad call from MSI to use the same MS number for seperate boards that completely
rely on "their own" bios ,and at the same time autoprovide their bios files through the liveupdate server .
do all of those BIOSes have the same BIOS string ID?
