875P - Onboard Sound - Installing Drivers

I recently built a machine with the 875P board installed. Ive installed Win XP and everything seems to be working fine, except for the sound.
I tried installed the drivers that were on the CD, but the at the end of the installation an error pops up saying "Driver could not be found! Reboot and run this installation again".
I've rebooted and re-run the installation a number of times, but the drivers will still not install. I even downloaded the driver from the web just in case it was the CD, but I get the same error.
When I go into the Audio properties in the Control Panel is says that there is no sound device installed because the drivers wont install.
Anyone else have any problems with this? Or no how to resolve the issue?
Let me know if you need more info.
Cheers

Assaf, thanks for that. I'm in work at the moment, but will check those settings when I get home. As far as I can remember though the Sound was on in Bios, but I don't remember seeing "PCI multimedia device" in the device manager.
Will double check it tonight.
KN3WT, just had a read of your post and thread. Sorry your havig problems too. I didn't even manage to install the SoundMax drivers upon first insallation.
Is it just the headphone jack thats giving you problems?
Anyone know what the correct driver to install is? There were a number of them on the CD. The website says the ADI SoundMax one is correct though.

  • Neo 875P Onboard Sound Problem

I'm having problems getting surround sound to work on my MSI Neo 875P with my Logitech Z-640 speakers.  It only works in Morrowind and the during the SoundMAX control panel tests.  Not with media in Windows, and not in other games.
In other games it just seems like the output to the rear channels is really weak.  If you put your ear to it you can hear it, but it's not working as it should.
If I plug my front speakers into the rear channel port on my mobo, and then put the rear speakers in the front channel port (that is, switch their places), the front ones are all quiet and the back speakers play loud.
Thus, it is not the speakers which are messed up, it's the output coming from my mobo.  But it's configured to run in surround sound!  And surround sound does work in Morrowind!
    Any ideas?

I have a 865PE Neo2-FIS2R (MS-6728) with version 1.3 BIOS and I'm having the same problem.  I get sound from the rear speakers only from the Speaker Test in the C-Media 3D Audio Configuration program.
All other audio output only comes through the front speakers.  Winamp set to output to Direct Sound does not produce rear speaker sound either.
When doing the speaker test, there is also a crackle noise as it switches between speakers.
Speaker setting is 4CH; speakers are plugged into the on-board audio jacks; I've verified that everything is connected properly.  The speakers work fine as they work in the Speaker Test (and they worked fine with my previous machine and audio card).
I've uninstalled and reinstalled the audio drivers, both from the CD and from the website, with no change.
    Any suggestions?  :-)
    Thanks,

  • No onboard sound- MSI k7n420 Pro after installing ATiI 9700 pro

I'm not sure if this has been answered previously.
I just installed an ATI 9700 pro on my MSI K7N420 Pro. Video card works great, but sound is absent after installing vid card.
In device manager shows yellow marks on nforce audio codec interface and nforce midi Uart. The former says: NtKern.vxd device loader for this device could not load the device driver. THe latter says: This device is either not present,, not working properly, or does not have all drivers installed.
I tried reinstalling the drivers using the windows files present in system, but nothing changed.
I'm not sure what to do next.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    win98

    Hi,
Win98 - SE? Although this board (K7N420) works fine with Win 98 it can have driver issues (although, it's that long since I installed it - I can't remember what they were!). An upgrade to XP (Pro if possible) should be at the top of your Xmas list - then issues such as the one you're having should be a thing of the past
The card will work with DirectX 8 but as far as I know the 9700 is fully DirectX 9 compatible - so you should really install it as it enables more features.
You can find your BIOS version on the initial boot screen!
Have you any IRQ conflicts? - Check device manager.
Is PNP OS enabled in your BIOS? if so disable it and see what happens. Also Enable APIC! (BIOS)

  • MS6178 Onboard Sound Drivers for Win98?

    Hi,
I recently had to install Windows 98 (1st edition) on my computer and am having difficulties locating the Drivers for the Onboard Sound for this particular version of Windows and my MS 6178 Mainboard.  I have managed to find them for Windows 98SE and attempted to install those ones, but it keeps on telling me that my OS is the wrong version.  I have searched this website, but just cannot find any for Win 98, and not for Win98SE.  Can anyone here help?  Thanks!

  • K7N2 Delta Onboard Sound Disable Question

I have a K7N2 Delta motherboard with a MSI FX5600 256MB DDR video card.  I am currently using the onboard audio.  Ever since I first built this computer I have been having nearly every game I play on it lock up and freeze.  I am thinking that it is a sound issue that is causing this problem, so I want to install a Creative Labs Sound Blaster Live.  I have several questions that I hope someone can answer as I have exhausted all avenues and still don't have any answers.  Here are my questions:
       1.  How do I disable the onboard sound?  ie  Which jumper is it and what are the
            jumper settings?
       2.  Which PCI slot is recommended for installing the sound card so that I won't
            any IRQ conflicts?
       3.  Is this actually an audio problem or is there something else wrong with this
            motherboard or video card?
This is becoming very frustrating because when the computer locks up all I can do is just reset without shutting down.  I'm becoming more and more worried that if this continues unabated I'm going to crash the hard drive and have to replace it only to have the problem persist.  I hope someone can give me specific answers to my questions.  Thank you in advance for your help.

First. Is it K7N2 Delta-L or Delta-ILSR (the one with an actual Soundstorm chip on it)? If you have the actual Soundstorm chip, use it! It will sound much better than an SBLive. Assuming you have the normal K7N2 Delta-L like I have:
    1. To disable the onboard sound, first uninstall the drivers for it, then you need to go into the BIOS by holding the Delete key while you boot up. Then find the section "Integrated Peripherals" and in that section "Onboard Devices". Press Enter and find AC97 Audio and disable it. There are no jumpers.
    2. PCI slots 1, 2 and 3 are usually not shared with other stuff like you AGP or USB ports. PCI Slot 3 is the ideal choice. 1 is usually covered by your video card fan anyway. For the SBLive, on Windows XP/2000, get the newest drivers from Creative Labs. The file is named "LiveDrvUni-Pack(ENG).exe" and it's file size is 23.3 MB (24,451,404 bytes). They have fixed the "nforce2 + gameport incompatibility".
    3. The problem may be audio related...or not. Which drivers are/were you using for your onboard audio? nvidia or Realtek? Actual Soundstorm chip or crappy software codec? It could also be video card related. Fastwrites? 8x or 4x AGP?

  • Onboard sound not detected

ive pulled out my Sound Blaster (after i have uninstalled all drivers and software) and enabled the onboard sound card in the BIOS. (set it to "Auto" as there is no "enabled" option)
but it isnt detected by Windows? why? i dont have any other soundcard installed nor any drivers, so where is it?

no there wasnt any problems with FarCry and the Sound Blaster...
anyway, the problem is, it isnt detected at all! there is no trace of it in the device manager, nor anywhere else. when i put in the MSI drivers CD the soundcard drivers arent even listed! just the other enabled stuff like USB and so on. but no sound card! weird!
now i have formated my C drive, reinstalled Win2k and there it is! the onboard soundcard. played farcry with it, performance was even worse. one night wasted, lesson learned: onboard sound is bad for you!

  • Is the onboard sound better than SB live!

I been thinking of using onboard sound right now Im using a old sound blaster live! its not the 5.1   What do you guys think ? See my sig for mobo type
This is the sound chip on the mobo Realtek ALC650 it has 4 to 6 chan. and it also has a
S-bracket that has analog to digital audio outputs by intergrating both SPDIF.
Anyone here use there onboard sound? I would like to buy sometime till I can get a new soundcard I want to free up a pci slot.

Uninstall the SB Live, and all related components thru device manager, then go to control panel>add or remove programs. Remove any Creative programs related to the SB Live. Shutdown and remove the SB from the system. Upon bootup, enter BIOS, and in the "Integrated Periphrials" section, set the AC97 to enabled, and reboot.
During bootup, it should find the AC97, and ask for the drivers, cancel the prompt. Then open the folder containing the drivers, and install from there.
One thing to check while you have the case opened to remove the SB, look for the front audio header, usually "JAUD1", there needs to be 2 jumpers installed in order to direct sound to the rear audio ports. These are normally installed before the board ships, but can be left off. Never hurts to look. I believe the jumpers go on 5-6 and 9-10. Check your manual to verify. the front audio header is located at the bottom of the board, near the front. If you have no manual, click here to download one.

  • Can't load Mandrake 9 with onBoard sound enabled.

    Any ideas as to why?
I can not boot into Mandrake 9 when I have onBoard sound enabled, it always freezes when it tries to load the i810 sound interface system. Yet when I disable it in the bios it loads perfectly.
I've already installed the nForce system drivers and that didn't help at all. Likely because it didn't know the sound card was there to install for.

I know your problem.Your not editing the modules.conf and adding these lines.Use vi command to edit. You may have one or more of these lines in your modules.conf and will only need to add the ones you don't have.I only had to add the audio line.
#vi /etc/modules.conf,press INSERT key, add the following lines,
    alias eth0 mcpeth
    alias sound-slot-1 i810_audio
    alias usb-interface usb-ohci
press ESC, (Shift) colon, wq and Enter.
This will save the changes you made.

  • Can't install drivers from CD or downloaded dri

Ok, I just reinstalled windows and was installing all of my drivers which mainly went ok until I started my sound driver. My pc locked up during the installation so I had to hold down the power button for it to start, then pc locked up at windows loading screen so I had to hold down power button again.

Again everything went fine until the sound card drivers, now I get a message saying this:
You have previously installed drivers without rebooting, please reboot your computer before trying again
Something like that but I keep rebooting and rebooting and I still get that message.
I have done this to try to fix the message:
Run CCleaner and clean my registry
Uninstall everything with Creative tag from uninstall programs
Thanks for any help..... Also my soundcard is a x-fi extrememusic if that helps

  • Disable onboard sound

How do I disable onboard sound on a KT4 Ultra?  I have Bouston Acoustic (sold by gateway) speakers that require Direct Digital Output to work and it does not seem to be supported by c-media. So I have to install my soundblaster Live!  Can anyone help me either disable on-board sound or get the on-board to support Direct Digital output?
    Thanks
    Edward Nash
     ?(

you can uninstall the drivers for the onborad sound.  To reinstall your sound blaster remove it from Device Manager and restart your machine and follow the makers instructions, either point the system to the drivers or use the installer, which ever they recommend.

  • MSI K9N SLI V2 MS-7390 onboard sound problem

    Hi,
My PC has stopped outputing sound. It was working fine yesterday morning, but when I got home from work 8 hours later it no longer seemed to want to play any sound. I know my taste in music is a bit naff but it not playing anything is a bit extreme!
I've checked the volume, reinstalled the sound drivers, checked the speakers and the cable by hooking them up to an iPod and I'm still not getting any sound. The onboard sound is enabled on the BIOS. Device Manager is showing no conflicts or problems, as far as it's concerend it's working. I've had a look at the motherboard and there's nothing I can see looks like it's shorted. I've even emptied my HDD and done a clean install of Windows XP again.
I'm really at a loss to see why this has happened and what to do to fix it. I guess buying a sound card would be one way of getting round it but I'm still puzzled about why it's doing this in the first place.
My motherboard is an MSI K9N SLI V2 MS-7390 and the on board audio is Realtek.

No, your bad choice of music shouldn't be the problem. That is if not a neighbour broke in to your house to stop the darn noise. Do you know if someone has changed anything?
Does the rest of the system work fine? I'm thinking there was a problem with return from hibernation or something.
What source do you have? CD for example.
