8800 Bluetooth connectivity & windows XP SP2

Please can someone help.
I have just been given an 8800 for Xmas and I want to connect it to my PC.
I believe the only way to do this with an 8800 is via bluetooth. However I know absolutely nothing about BT.
I have windows XP SP2 which I have read on WWW that it supports BT, but do I need to do something else in order to connect because when I try using the Nokia PC Suite it doesn't find my phone.
Do I need to down load a driver?
Do I need some other form of connectivity - I have seen dongles(?) mentioned elsewhere, do I need one of these?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am very keen to make the most of my phone.

Supahoopsa,
You just need to have a bluetooth installed in your laptop. If it is not internal, you can buy one for like 20dollars. Its like a USB Key.. install that on the PC and then turn on the BT on the phone,
You can now connect the two.
You may need to look at the manual that came with the BT (for the PC) to check how to pair devices.

  • Bluetooth not being detected on Windows XP SP2 (3000 N200)

    Hi,
I removed windows vista that came preinstalled and installed a windows xp sp2. I downloaded the bluetooth drivers for my version ie. 3000 N200 0769 BBG. But the bluetooth is not being detected. The bluetooth LED is always off (Only the WLAN LED is green). I tried to install drivers from broadcom site also. But, installation is not proceeding as it cannot detect any hardware. Bluetooth was working properly on windows vista. So i dont think it is any harware issue.
Any idea what could be the problem? Please help me out with this ...

  • Bluetooth connectivity in Windows Vista

    Hi there!
I am using Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit on a custom built PC I assembled last year. For Bluetooth connectivity with the PC I am using a Bluetooth dongle (adapter) from Billionton Systems Inc. Here is what it says on the label.
    Billionton Systems Inc.
    P/N:GUBTCR42
    Order No:83888 (32-8866)
    S/N:07071300501
    Clas Ohlson AB
It is sold in the Clas Ohlson stores, that's why their name is seen on the label, and the 32-8866 is their order number, while the other order number is the manufacturers order number.
I did get the CD with drivers for it and all that, but the software included on that CD seems to be very outdated. I think it includes the Toshiba Bluetooth stack (I think it was labeled differently thou). The included software does work on Windows Vista, but only barely, because it seems to be adopted primarily for Windows 2000 or XP. I remember that it was really difficult to step through the installation guide. The installation guide did show up, and I think that even the Autorun function worked fine so that it would show up automatically upon inserting the CD. But it was pracitcally impossible to step through the installation because the buttons and dials were displaced and f***ed up so you wouldn't be able to see or to click on them. However, if you did manage to step through the installation process you were set and ready to use the new device.
It was a long time ago I installed this, so I'm not sure if this worked perfectly. But there must have been a good reason why I stopped using it, and instead started using the built-in Bluetooth stack from Microsoft. After installing Windows Vista now, I just plug the Billionton Bluetooth dongle right into the USB port. Vista finds it and installs the following devices for it.
    Generic Bluetooth Radio
    Bluetooth-enhet (RFCOOMM-protokoll-TDI)
    Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator
    Bluetooth-enhet (Personal Area Network)
    Standardmodem över Bluetooth-länk
    Bluetooth Peripheral Device (not installed)
As you can see my Vista installtion is using Swedish interface language. In the above list "enhet" means device, "protokoll" means protocol, "över" and "länk" means over and link respectively as in "standard modem over Bluetooth-link".
The only thing that is not installed is something called "Bluetooth Peripheral Device". This should be the last thing to install but I only get the message "Windows måste installera drivrutiner för Bluetooth Peripheral Device" which is probably equal to "Windows must install drivers for Bluetooth Peripheral Device" on English interface.
Even thou the "Bluetooth Peripheral Device" is not installed, I am still able to use this Bluetooth dongle to connect with my Nokia N73 and it seems to work flawlessly. But now I am getting the "Ny maskinvara har hittats" (New hardware found, or similar) dialog every time I log on to Windows Vista. I usually chose to abort it It but it shows four times so I have to abort it four times. In the Device Manager there are four listings of "Bluetooth Peripheral Device".
Why is that? How is it possible that the Bluetooth dongle still works even thou the "Bluetooth Peripheral Device" is not installed? What is "Bluetooth Peripheral Device" and do I need it?
I did try to contact Billiongon Systems for some support on either how to install the shi*** Toshiba Bluetooth stack properly on Windows Vista or to ask for a newer version, or instructions on how to install the Bluetooth dongle without using the included software but using the Microsoft Bluetooth stack built-in to Windows. I sent e-mail to them two or three times but about a year ago when I first purchased this Bluetooth dongle, but they haven't answered to me yet so I don't expect any answers from them anymore. So I hope that someone here can help me to install this "Bluetooth Peripheral Device" thing or at least shed some light on the problem and explain what that is, what it is used for, and why I would need that.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello CricFancy!
Thanks for your answer! As for the Bluetooth stack, as explained before I have given up on using the Toshiba Bluetooth stack. I am using the Bluetooth stack from Microsoft that's built in to Windows Vista. I have not tested using any of the other Bluetooth stacks mentioned on that list. I think that the WIDCOMM Bluetooth stack is primarily designed for use with Bluetooth chips from Broadcom, so I'm not so sure if it would work at all with the Billionton Bluetooth dongle (not sure what chip is used in it thou).
As for the IVT BlueSoleil Bluetooth stack, I have not tested it yet, but I think there is a big chance that it might just work well with my Billionton Bluetooth dongle, simply because BlueSoleil is de facto standard for Bluetoth interoperability with support for Bluetooth chipsets from many different suppliers. But the drawback with BlueSoleil is that it costs money. And I'm not motivated to buy it, I don't think it's worth it. I don't see why I as end-user should be financing the industry's incompetence and failure of creating a solid technological platform for Bluetooth connectivity. This problem I am having is not a problem specific to the Billionton Bluetooth dongles. It doesn't matter what brand of Bluetooth dongle you buy, Billionton or not, cheap or expensive, none of them work properly as they should. You will always run into problems with them, and it's usually problems with compatibility. And they expect me to pay extra for a software package like the BlueSoleil in order to make it work? No bloody way!
Right now I can't recall if I have installed the Bluetooth dongle (and with it the Microsoft Bluetooth stack) before or after installing Nokia PC Suite. I don't think it really matters, but I will remember to first install the Bluetooth dongle (and with it the Microsoft Bluetooth stack) next time I re-install Windows Vista.
"If you have installed compatible dongle on your pc, make sure that you insert that dongle once the pc is started and not before pc is switched on." Could you define compatible? Like I said, there is not many, if any, Bluetooth dongles that are compatible with... anything at all basically. I don't mean to be rude but Bluetooth techonology seems to be just a peace of **bleep**, as far as the compatibility is concerned. Besides, why would I need to insert the Bluetooth dongle after powering (switching) on the computer and not before that? Mine is inserted all the time, I never take it out of the computer. Why would I?
Exactly what "Nokia help file" are you refering to in that message? You mean THE Nokia PC Suite Help file? Or are you refering to some Nokia FAQ? I was unable to find that information in the Help file for Nokia PC Suite.
    Reference
The exact version number of the Microsoft Bluetooth stack used on the computer is 6.0.6000, build: 16386.

  • Windows Media Player 11 Bluetooth connect with N73

Anyone can help me with connecting N73 to Windows Media Player via bluetooth?
I have Nokia PC Suite updated and Bluetooth connects with it.
I can see it on "My Computer" folder as a phone and also as a camera.
In Device Manager, i can also see it as a "Portable Media Device"
But Windows Media Player doesn't seem to detect it when it is connected to PC via bluetooth. Only when connected by cable. But as I want to get rid of the cable, how should I manage this?
    Thank you very much.

  • Poblem connecting CISCO anyconnect secure mobility client ver. 3.1.04 versus Windows VISTA SP2: Login denied

    Hi,
Suddenly I have this error with my client cisco AnnyConnect ver. 3.1.04063 connecting with my computer:windows vista SP2.
Message appeared: "Login denied. "name_company" security policies have rejected your login" and nothing else.
I tried to uninstall and reinstall the client annyconect ver.3.1.04063 but not success, the same message, I think it's a problem with my computer because my user id with other computer colleagues runs ok and I can authenticate perfectly.
Few days ago and always I have worked without problems then I don't know what happens...perhaps an automatically update of windows vista¿?
Anyone of you with similar issue or problem?
    Thanks in advance.

I have another computer with windows 8.1 and Cisco VPN Anyconnect version 3.1 works fine ! what is wrong with this computer. After a little bit of research I realised that this issue is from cisco hostscan. Interesting enough comp A(computer A) where vpn client works does not have cisco host csan folder in program files (x86). On this computer I did saw that folder and deleted it.
    I found the following information
C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Cisco\Cisco HostScan\lib has some sort of .libs for various antivirus.... I have AVG Antivirus 2015 and Spy Bot ...
I have attached log files, if anybody wants to investigate then you are more than happy to investigate. Happy to be of help in case if you need any further input.
    Tired of breaking my head...

  • Accessing a USB hard drive connected to a AEBS from Windows XP SP2

Hi everybody my problem is this, I am using the AEBS. I have an iMac G5 and a Sony vaio laptop running Windows XP SP2. After some initial problems both connect to the Internet and if I attach a USB printer to the AEBS both allow you to print remotely however if I attach an external hard drive only the iMac can access it. The airport disk agent for Windows pops up that a disk has become available but when you try to access it you get an alert message that says, “unknown user, incorrect password, or login is disabled. Please retype login information or contact the disk’s administrator.” If you click on the preferences in Airport Disk, in Windows, no disk is visible although the disk is visible in the Airport Utility! I have tried different hard drives and all the different settings in the Airport Utility for accessing a USB hard drive connected to the AEBS and get the same message regardless. HELP1

    Hi John,
My hard drive is already formatted to fat 32. If I "check disks" in AirPort Utillity in windows it see's the disk and knows how much free and used space there is on it. It also knows when I'm accessing the disk from my iMac but when I try to connect to the hard drive from windows I just get the error message in my first post. When I click on AirPort Disk in windows my base station name doesn't appear, it does on my mac. I tried you suggestion but it hasn't helped. Thanks anyway. If you've got any other suggestion i'll gladly give them a try.
    Thanks again.

  • Can't connect to a PC (Windows XP SP2) from my MacBooc (OSX)

    Hi!
    Here are the details:
    The PC
    1. Windows XP SP2. SAV, Zone Alarm.
    2. GUEST account disabled.
    3. The Admin account (renamed) with a password
    MacBook (Mac OS X)
All the settings are the standard ones. Nothing changed.
    The PROBLEM
I cannot connect the PC (Win XP SP2) from my MacBook. I can perfectly use some ftp client; the MS Remote desktop, but if I try to connect the PC from (say) the finder (apple-K) I allways get the same "username or password is not correct" message, whatever I do... I never set a password for this connection. Nowhere!
Please, advise me how to connect the PC from my MacBook.
    Thanks a lot!

    OK,
Now we have something to work with.
    On the PC:
    Determine Workgroup name:
RightClick MyComputer, LeftClick Properties. Look under ComputerName tab, make note of WorkGroup name.
    On the mac:
Applications>Utilities>DirectoryAccess...Unlock, tick SMB/CIFS, then click Configure...
Enter the WorkGroupName that you got from the PC...in teh Workgroup box on Mac.
Apply, OK, or whatever...approve it all.
Restart both machines again. Sorry, it's a Windows habit.
(We're probably going to ask you to disable SAV, and make sure that ZoneAlarm has the local network as 'approved' or something. It's been three yrs since I used ZA)...does your SAV have a firewall, too? Bad idea to run two firewalls, but let's move along with that workgroup business up there.

  • Bluetooth network not staying connected windows 8.1

Hi, I'm having problems with my bluetooth network connection. I have no problem pairing  and connecting my ( andriod ) devices with my PC ( Envy 700-216, Windows 8.1 ), but the connection is only made for about 10 seconds and then the bluetooth network status goes to "disconnected". I have done a lot of research and tried all the recommended fixes i.e. uninstalling and updating the ( Ralink ) bluetooth drivers, changing power managent settings and changing bluetooth support services to automatic, so far to no avail. I know this is a common problem when updating TO Windows 8.1. I bought this computer new in September 2014 and upon initial setup, it automatically updated to 8.1, so I've never been able to make and sustain a bluetooth connection. Most of the forum posts I've read seem to be dated  2013 to early 2014 and I haven't seen any that had a definate resolution.  Please help!

  • Creative Zen 8GB Windows XP SP2 Connection Is

I've had my Zen 8GB for about 3 months now and have had no problems, but today all of a sudden Windows XP SP2 gives me a code 0 This device cannot start error.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the player in device manager and Windows will recognize it for about 30 seconds and then it will stop working again. If I'm very quick, I can add songs and transfer files within that 30 second window using ZEN Media Exploer, but afterwards it just disappears again, usually in mid file transfer. I can also get Windows to recognize the device if I tell it to update driver, then it installs the driver and it works again for another 30 seconds. I have tried using different USB ports and different USB cables but they all give me the same results.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Dissension,
Try to access the Recovery Mode of your unit, select Clean Up and Reboot. If that doesn't help, try connecting your unit to other PC and then download the updated firmware.
Here's the link also for some info and workaround on the Code 0 error.
    Hope this hel
