hi, I want to buy the old 8800 from Ebay.On the keys are some asian signs.
But he says thats original and there stands "Made in Germany" inside
could it be a fake or not?

8800 series phones are one of the most faked phones put up for sale on eBay and the like. It's better to stay away from them. Buy it online only if you have some concrete gruarantee that the seller will return the money if you find that the phone is a fake.
Bear in mind that the pix of the phone can be faked, the product code can be faked... If you can get the IMEI, you can verify it at this site, so that you can be sure that the phone that is supposedly being sold to you is an original.

My Mac Pro (2006) with NVidia GeForce 8800 GT is not detecting a second display. What can I do?

My Mac Pro w/ NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT does not detect a second display from the System Preferences / Displays. Even though I select the "Detect Displays" button, nothing happens. I also have Bootcamp and Windows 7 in a partition on my drive. When I operate with Windows 7, there is no problem detecting both of my displays. However, when I operate with Windows 7, there is no sound signal sent from my sound card. When I switch back to the OS X then I get a sound feed from the sound card, but then it will not detect more than one monitor. I'm ready to pull out my hair. Anyone have suggestions?

I do not know if there is a published "verification" page for AC adapters.
Your wording is a bit disconcerting:
Fake?
As in counterfeit? Not the brand it claims to be?
Interesting.
Do you have an HP AC adapter that you suspect is a counterfeit device?
If you do, you might inform your local Police department.
At the very least, you might want to consider NOT using such a device on any equipment you care about.
Counterfeit electronics can be more than just fake -- they might be dangerous.
Personal Opinion.
Remember: Fake and Counterfeit are different from something that is manufactured as "brand x", that is, a copied brand that may or may not be of acceptable quality for the task.

8800 GTS do not support 8x and 16x antialiasing?

When I change my antialiasing settings in Doom 3 to 8x or 16x and then restart the app it
keeps reseting to 4x. Also, in the config-file it only seems to recognize 256 MB VRAM, 8800 GTS has 512.
Is this a bug in the Doom 3 app or is it the 8800 GTS drivers or is there an actual solution to this?

Nvidia 8800 GT not the best for Aperture use?

I've been reading from barefeats ( http://barefeats.com/harper10.html ) that the 8800 GT is not the best graphics card for Aperture. Actually I don't think they actually tested Aperture, but Motion 3. The Nvidia is a more expensive option than the ATIs, yet it would be worse for Aperture? Has someone specifically benchmarked Aperture 2 (not another pro app, and no synthetic tests of core image) with the 8800 GT against the other cards? Would Apple update Aperture to make it take better advantage of the 8800 GT's strengths (when available in a system)? I hope so. I already got the Nvidia, and am waiting to get a Mac Pro in the summer.

Here's my prelim findings (as posted in another thread). Will come back with more detailed comments after I have a chance to test some more:

I've just put one in my first gen mac pro, too. I can confirm a great deal of improvement over the stock 7300 gt. My prob was when an image had been straightened, cropped etc if I then attempted edge sharpening it was just awful - beachballs in abundance, crappy panning, slower than Capture NX. Now, though, it is fast and pleasant to use. That's the good news. The bad news is either:
1. Apple put such a puny graphics card in a Mac Pro (sic) in the first place (although it copes with everything except its own Pro photo software)
2. Apple wrote such idiosyncratic software (leaning on the on-graphics card memory so much) that meant Mac Pro (sic) machines hardly more than a year old couldn't cope without a new graphics card when running Apple's own pro photo software. That and the 7300 is still on the "recommended" list of cards for running Aperture 2.

Not working Nokia 8800 sirocco

Dear Nokia owner's,
I hope that somebody out here can help me with my problem.
I own one sirocco in black and one in silver. Both are original, bought and made in germany. No doubt that they are original.
The black one, is turning one and than for some reason turning off after 2 min. A good repair shop or a official nokia could fix this problem for sure I guess.
My silver one is a little bit more problematic, I had it in my pocket durring one of thoose hurricane rain here in Miami, Florida and after that the display was just lighting on and off without showing something. It means that the phone is still working but the display or the connection to it might be the problem.
I need to know, where in the U.S or in the Miami area I can give or send it to somebody fix it!!!

On series 40 phones the only option you have is factory reset from the settings menu. If that fails to fix your problems then the only option you have is to visit a nokia care piont/service centre for a full reset. It's also worth getting them to update it's firmware.

8800 headphone issues

Once I surrendered to the fact that my Blackberry 8800 ( tmobile ) would not allow me to use my s9 stereo bluetooth headphones >sigh< I purchased a pair of "Body Glove" wired stereo headphones that had the correct size adapter.
I listen to my music almost all day and prefer to rarely touch the phone itself, using the headphones most of the day and a Bluetooth ( S500 ) earpiece in the evening.
For the second time ( second phone) the headset connection has failed. It seems that after about a month of use, first the headset crackles when pluged in but minor "wiggling" will make it work; although it may need to be plugged and unplugged a few time a day. This degrades over the day(s) to popping and humming and intermittent failures that become so irritating I just quit using the Blackberry as an Mp3 player.
This truly stinks becauase one of the main reasons I chose the 8800 was to be able to listen to my music while I work and not miss a phone call.
Anyone else have this problem?

I went through three headsets before I got it to work.
I bought a Radio shack adapter. It sounds funny, but it was a little thicker the 3.5 standard, there was no wiggle in it,
which was my problem as well. Try it.

Nokia 8800 Sirocco - good or bad buy?

I'm thinking of entering into my first contract tomorrow and wanted an Nokia 8800 Sirocco
My friend works for a phone shop and can get me one on Orange.
Would anyone avoid it? I heard the battery life was terrible on the 8800, is it the same issue with the sirocco? Also, I have a N70 at the moment but don't use email, from reading the forum it appears people are having a lot of trouble with email? Is it something that goes wrong even if you don't use email?
Any advice would be very welcome

Ive read and heard from friends that the battery has been improved from the 8800 series although it is supplied with two batteries also.
I have the original 8800 and im very satisfied with it.
I dont use the camera and music,video and bluetooth functions which all add up to drain the battery.
I get 2-3 days from each battery.
The scricco has a better camera {which i dont use} and has the powersaver option cured. ie : it scrolls down the screen unlike the 8800 which does not which in time caused the lcd screen burn. It has also a better keypad, although im not sure about the thumb indentation on the slider..lol
My advice is go for it and you have been offered a decent contract too !!
I would try for a 12 month contract tho.
Some users have experienced difficulty when attempting to use the e mail function as it disappeared from the menu system when accessed. If you use e mail from your service provider then ask to try a demo fone to see what happens.
I dont use it myself as my provider gets enough money from me as it is..lol

Need advice:8800 Arte Spoilt in less than 1 week

Can any one pls advice me what should i do as my new 8800 Arte mic not working 2 day after i bought it on 23rd Dec 2007.As the service center in singapore disagreed to change me a set but only change my PCB leaving me having a S$1888 phone with different imei number on my phone with my box and warranty card. You are entitled to have the fone swapped after such a short period of time, or at the very least a fully recon one.
Speak to the manager of the outlet you purchased from, and get ready to go legal if required.
Keep calm and dont raise your voice etc as this will only hinder you.
If you get no joy then contact their Head Office Customer Service Department, and CEO to further your issue.
Contact Nokia on the 'contact us' link on this site to ask their advice although they wont be able to get involved in any way with your dispute.
I have the Nokia 8600 Luna and every now and then the mic seems to go a little "tinny" when the fone rings or when I use the external speakers. The quality of the callers voice is sound tho. I basically just remove the battery which soft boots it back to normal. Thisa only happens every month or so.

How can I download Blackberry Maps in my 8800?

It appears that my Blackberry 8800 device did not come with the pre-loaded Blackberry Maps, as I cannot activate the Maps (GPS) or find the Maps in the Service Book list. Is it possible to download the Maps into my phone? If so, how do I do it? I contacted my service provider (Thailand) and its technician advised me to wipe out the device and reinstall the applications from the CD rom included in the product package. I am wondering if there is an easier way to download the Blackberry Maps. Please advise.

You should be able to get the maps application on yoru device by going to the below link from your device

Once you are on the page you should see a Download BlackBerry Maps now option.
