8800 series (carbon arte) - OMA email notification...

Can someone please tell me if this phone will actually work with Outlook/Exchange mail. The specifications say that the phone uses OMA Email Notification, but I can't find any reference to it being used by anyone or how it actually works ?? Thank you.

OMA just enables the phone the ability to accept push email, unfortunately, just not Microsoft Exchange email  It will allow push email via IMAP (Gmail for example).

If you pull the battery out and reinsert it the external display should start working. It helps to update the phone software you can download it from you service providers web site.

  • NOKIA 8800 CARBON ARTE HELP!!!!!

    Hi
I have a Nokia 8800 Carbon Arte, cannot seem to get predictive text messaging in English, its only Chinese and other languages. Can anyone help with this please.
Also, when I download my software and pit my USB cable in, nothing happens. Help please.
    Thank you in advance

All Nokia phones have English and other languages.
The fact that yours doesn't and that the phone isn't recognized when you plug it into your computer leads me to believe that you have a fake. There's a huge number of fake 8800's available on the web, in particular in places such as eBay where most phones on sale are fakes.

I have found several people here in my hometown trying to sell fake 8800's too. I have found that there are threads on the Internet that say the real ones were made in Korea, but as always you cannot be sure. However, there is a fantastic website here: http://www.numberingplans.com/?page=analysis&sub=imeinr
Just enter the IMEI of the device, and it will tell you whether its valid or not. There have been some IMEI's that it doesn't have on its database, but these are few and far between. I use this as a tool to check that phones bought are real and not fake. I would also check if the phone is stolen or not, by checking your region's databases.

  • NOKIA 8800 CARBON ARTE

Hello, I would like to ask what is the ESN number on the Nokia 8800 Carbon arte ? Is it possible to fake this number ? What kind of manufacturers warranty is included ? 1 year warranty ?
    Thank you for the answers.

    It's a fake.
"ATTENTION : NOKIA PC SUITE IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THIS PHONE, BUT YOU CAN STILL ACCESS TO YOUR 4GB MEMORY THROUGH YOUR USB CABLE USING YOUR COMPUTER."
PC Suite is compatible with a genuine 8800. The only reason this phone is not compatible with PC Suite is because it's not a Nokia phone.
Plus the too-good-to-be true price of $199 is a dead giveaway. The 8800 Carbon Arte is normally worth around $1500.
The photos that are not blurry look genuine enough, but there's nothing to guarantee that you'll get the phone that's actually in those photos.
If you buy this phone, the seller will disappear off the face of the earth as soon as they receive your money and you will not be able to get your money back when you realize that you've been sold a fake Nokia.

    Hi,
Best advice I can provide is to stay clear of auction sites with offers that sound too good to be true !
Pay that bit more money and get piece of mind, an original and the guarantee to back it all up.

  • Nokia 8800 carbon art?

Have anyone in here have come across a site that sell this precious phone(8800 carbon art) for 500 or 600? and is there a copy of a original phone or what? is that why it's cheaper? I appreciate if you have any idea about this, thanks!

The 8800 Carbon Arte comes with a high price tag (around £1000) for a reason. Anyone trying to sell you a so-called "genuine" article at a cut-down price is either selling you hot goods, in which case you become an accessory to a crime if you buy one, or they're trying to sell you a fake.

None of the information that you have copied from the label relates to a firmware version. However, if they are definitely offering you a phone with RM-288 as the number, then be suspicious. Genuine 8800 Carbon Arte models should be RM-233 for the main tri-band and 3G-capable version, or RM-451 for the dual-band non-3G model sold in some markets.

  • Nokia 8800 Carbon Arte Proving That t is Fake

So I have already figured out that my Carbon Arte is fake.  It says Comport and Webcam when I plug it to the computer.  The functions for tap for clock and turn over for mute also do not work.  And finally the year that is on when I put in *#0000# the date is yyyy/mm/dd which is wrong and and finally when I put in *#7780# nothing changes.  I bought this from ebay and I filed a Paypal dispute claim with the guy.  How will I be able to prove to Ebay and Paypal that this item is indeed a fraud?
    Thanks

Guys, I have removed the last few posts of this thread because we cannot have abusive behaviour between members.
It appears, regretfully, that incorrect information has been given by the UK contact centre in this case, I will follow this up. I can confirm that no genuine Nokia device has a "Webcam" connection mode. The available modes are:
    (1) PC Suite mode (referred to as Nokia mode in some older device)
    (2) Mass storage mode (referred to as Data Storage or Data Transfer mode on some models)
    (3) Image Transfer mode and Media Transfer mode (on S60 devices, for S40 devices these are combined into a single Printing and Media mode).

  • Nokia 8800 Series vs. E72

    Hullo all.
I am due to refresh my phone soon and am wondering if there is any definitive news on the next model in the 8800 series?
I currently have the Arte (8800e) and have had the Sirrocco (8800d) and the original 8800 in the past.
I am of two minds to wait and see or go for the E72...
Does anyone know anything firm about the rumored 88XX Erdos (perhaps 8820)?
    Cheers in advance.

Opps - sorry about mentioning rumours, did not realise it was against the rules.
What I am looking for is a smartphone, primarily for push email and onscreen feed updates, with a similar form factor to the 8800 series.
What I like about the series is it's quality of build, materials (OLED screen), and slide form.
I'll hold out for a month or two and see if anything hits the market.
If only there was a way to put S60 on the Arte
    Thanks,

  • Procedures and Email Notifications

    boldEN*bold*
    Hi everyone!!
In my BPM development, i'm trying to automatize the email notifications, based on due process periods. Also, I need to inform, based on the delay, some other participants that escalates the alarm message.
Is it possible to do it using an "E-Mail Notification" component that can be reused during all the process, even that the interval conditions and informed users varies upon each activity.
Is there another way to solve it?
    Thanks
    boldSP:*bold*
    Gracias,

I think I understand what you're after. I think you want to use the same escalation logic for all of your processes and instead of embedding this in every process you want something reusable. If this is not the case, read no further.
While you can do this, there are still going to be 5 things each process would still need to have inside of them:
<li> your process would need to set the "deadline" predefined variable to the intial timeout (2 hours in the future in your example)
<li> your process would need an Exeption Handler needs to be added with an Exception transition set to "Instance Expiration"
<li> your process would need an Integer instance variable "alertLevel" to keep track of the current level
<li> your process would need a String instance variable "currentlyAssignedTo" to keep track of who's supervisor you want to notify
<li> your process would need an Automatic activity with one line of logic inside it.
You could have the Exception transition leaving the Exception Handler activity go to a subprocess using a Subflow activity. This subprocess would send the emails, determine the new deadline interval, determine the new priority of the instance, look up the currently assigned user, manager and supervisor's email addresses and send the email(s). The subflow would have two input argument variables (alertLevelArg and currentlyAssignedToArg). In the Begin activity, these arguments would be mapped to corresponding instance variables. Inside this subprocess there would be an automatic with the logic to send the email to the user / manager / supervisor based on the alertLevel instance variable. This subprocess would pass back out through its output argument variables the new alertLevelArg, and new deadline (a time argument variable set to some time in the future based on the new alert's level).
Once the instance in the called subprocess completes, the output arguments need to be mapped to the original process's "alertLevel" and "deadline" variable. From the Subflow activity, you'd have an unconditional activity that flows into an Automatic activity via an unconditional transition. This automatic activity would have the single line of logic "action = BACK" so the instance is sent back from the Exception Hanldler's flow back to the activity inside the process it was in when the Instance Expiration exception occurred.
Avoid hard coding the values of "2" and "5" and "8" for the number of hours to have elapse inside your logic. Instead make them business parameters capable of being edited by an business owner.

  • Email Notification Nokia E6

    Ls,
I am using the new Nokia E6 in The Netherlands. I discovered that the notification light is hardly to be seen, but this is already being discussed in another topic.
But next to this, when receiving a new message on Gmail or my Imap email. The notification light doesn't pop up at all. Also I do not see any notification on the notification bar on the left bottom, where you can see missed calls and messages. So this means I have to use the email widget and have to light my screen on to see the unread email messages.
Can this please be fixed. I am really frustrated about this issues. This is the reason Why I bought this phone after my Nokia E72, but a touchscreen nor Symbian Anna cannot make up for this.
Last but not least I noticed that the notification does not work when receiving a WhatsApp message. This worked just fine on my Nokia E71 and E72. I do know this is an issue for WhatsApp, but I guess Nokia should work together with them to fix this. If whatsapp didn't work on the Nokia. Never in my life I would buy a Nokia, eventhough the quality of the phones is perfect.
    Thanks!

    Dear Nokia,
I am choosing my handsets wisely, reading a lot of reviews and user experiences before buying one in order to find the one that just fits my need perfectly. In a handset I use everyday I look for good build quality, software stability, good battery time, and a few important apps (Email, Maps, Whatsapp). You serve 95% of this wishes perfectly and I loved my phones. I even came back to you after a short liaison with Android that didn't went brilliantly.
So, what have I done to you that you make me feel so stupid having done the investment in a Nokia handset? Glitches and small problems are not limited to Nokia, but we are stumbling across the most annoying small problems on an otherwise good phones, and you never seem to to care about them! All it would take is this little extra commitment after releasing a handset to make in perfect. My Nokia C5-00 was a perfect phone and it lasted days without charging, until it started dropping to 0 overnight frequently, all you did was reinstalling the FW and it never got the problem solved. My Nokia E72 was probably the best of them all, unfortunately it started to show its age, nothing wrong with that. The obvious update for a E72 enthusiast was the E6-00. But what where you thinking when you released a high end E series handset with a broken notification light and no notification for E-Mail?
I got the new keymat to solve the notification light problem. Please help me feel less of an idiot by doing me the favor and getting E-Mail notification for the E6-00 to work.
    Yours sincerley,
    an unappreciated customer
P.S.: On the side, please stop ditching good and valid operating systems

  • Email notification - how to change?

I have a data only 8330 and can't figure out how to change the email notification sound.  Right now, all it does is vibrate.  I was hoping I could mess around with it a bit and get it to ping or something.  Also, is there a way to assign a different sound to different email accounts?  Thanks in advance!!

    1. Select the Profiles icon
    2. A box will appear where you can quick select between Loud, Vibrate, Quiet, Normal, Phone Only, and Off. If you wish to quick change the device profiles then select the one you want and exit out.
    3. If you want to edit the tones assigned to the device applications then select the last option, Advanced
(some older models and OS 4.1 and below will not have the "Advanced" step--if Advanced is not present go directly to Step 4 below).
    4. Select the profile you wish to edit. (Loud, Vibrate, Quiet, Normal (default), Phone Only, Off)
Note: on the 8100, 8800, and 8300 models: Do not click the trackball. Instead, click the menu key to the left of the trackball).
Note: The profile that is in use will say: (Active)
    5. You will now see a list of all applications that can have a tone assigned (Browser, Calendar, Level 1 Messages, Messages ([email protected]), Messenger, MMS, Phone, SMS, Task ect..)
