8800Ultra Overclocked Edition Problem, replacement card after RMA once already.
Hi all,
I'm having problems with my 8800Ultra, have done testing to determine if its heat related but with airconditining running the card only reaches about 80degrees and still seems to last about 5-10 minutes before playing up, this is slightly longer than the previous card I had which was about 30 seconds before it would start stuttering and I would have to use task manager to quit back to windows and shut the game I would be playing. The only way I can then play a game again is by restarting the computer, because the card refuses to work properly after this. I'm using nVidia 169.21 drivers.
I'm pretty sure I have all the necessary information in my signature but if not please let me know. I'm quite pissed off at the moment because this is my 2nd card, and it took over 2 months between the store I bought it off and MSI to get it back to me, and now the new card is doing the same thing. Seems to be fine when underclocking as others have noticed as well, however I did not pay for an overclocked 8800 Ultra just to underclock it back to stock speeds.
Thanks in advance,
Singular1ty

Thanks kind of stupid BOSSKILLER, you expect me to own another high end machine just to test the components in my main machine when they don't work properly?
I can't ask the re-seller to test the card as the store is located about 2400km from me. Hence why I have been looking for help on here so that I can attempt to fault find myself.
"you expect me to own another high end machine just to test the components in my main machine when they don't work properly? "
Until test with PSU which can meet VGA requirements you never known where is the problem! As i said before you should take care about the PSU 1st, before purchase high end VGA.

I have been looking at a Thermaltake Toughpower 750 watt http://www.thermaltake.com/product/Power/ToughPower/W0116/w0116.asp from a local store... would this be good enough?
Avoid split rails PSU!

How do I edite my collection description after it's already exported (in HTML)?
Hello,
I've been using Photoshop and Lightroom for a while not. Both are amazing, and I'm even now using Dreamweaver. Anyway...now, I'll get to my question:
How do I edited my collection description after already having exported my Lightroom Gallery? For one, I noticed a spelling error in the title, and I also want to edit the description a little bit more without having to re-export it from LR again and having to Re-publish all again. (I manage to use the file codes to change a few other things using DW, but for the life in me I cannot figure out how to change the Description).
I guess this is actually a coding question, not a question about LR itself, but I'm hoping some people who've used and tweaked LR galleries will understand my plight and help me. I would appreciate it very much.
Oh, and if it makes any difference, I'm using The Turning Gate free gallery because it's HTML5. I wasn't sure if any of the other LR5 CC ones were HTML5, that's why.Two options.
Export the gallery again but to your desktop. Find the Index page with the description on it and edit to the way you want. Dreamweaver will work fine but a text editor will suffice. Save the page and upload that page only- replacing the one online.
Discard the exported gallery.
Second option, download the offending page via FTP, edit it and replace on your site. -
MSI Customer Service; Problematic R7970 BE Experience! Faulty Replacement Card!
G'day their,
In December-January I went to go build a new computer consisting of 2x MSI R7970 Lightning BE graphics cards; these cards in my opinion we're amazing! Little did I know of the quality of these products...
Upon putting my 2x 7970's in crossfire, I experienced catastrophic amounts of artifacting (at 67+ Celsius GPU Temp), I then narrowed this problem down to one of the graphics cards (The other card works FLAWLESSLY) – I called up MSI, explained my situation, they got me to RMA the card, I sent out the card for the RMA at the start of January.
Two days later, I get an email from MSI Australia saying that one of the fans on the graphics cards we're broken – they also told me, the piece broken off the fan was not found in the packaging, thought that was extremely odd and unusual. They offered me a deal, to pay $165 to replace the fan on the graphics card and send me a "NEW" R7970 Lightning BE, to fix the initial artifcating problem I had – thought OK, what the heck, went through with it.
Last Thursday (14/3/13) I got a "new" replacement R7970 Lightning BE – opened it up, took out my other 7970 in the computer out, put this "new" one in. All was hunky dory, turned the computer on, no video was being displayed from the graphics card – the graphics card's fan was just running at full speed, no activity from the card. I then placed the graphics card in another PCI-E slot, nothing, placed it in another computer, nothing... At this point I was furious.
I took the card out, put my other 7970 in, worked flawlessly. Looked closely at the 7970 I got sent, and found that it was dinted on the side:
h**p://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/209/screweduppipe.jpg/
Not only that, the card's heat-sinks we're also loose.
The quality of the card was appalling, looked to be second hand.
Clearly showing graphics cards fans upon purchasing:

I'm honestly gob-smacked. What do you guys think I should do? Contact MSI Australia yet again?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
David.Quote from: Froggy Gremlin on 16-March-13, 14:45:57
Absolutely! It sounds like you are able to control your anger pretty well, but be firm with them and request they not only RMA the card, but pay for shipping 'both' directions. You should not have to pay for the return.
Hahaha! I've tried really hard too keep cool!
I have prepared an e-mail, and this is what I have written thus far - should I even send an e-mail, or just call them, or both?
Hello Asif,
Upon you're instruction, I have installed the 'replacement' R7970 Lightning BE into my system - yet it does not work! When turning the computer on, no video is outputted - there is no activity from the graphics card, not even the blue LED's on top of the graphics card illuminate - all that happens, is that the fan's on the card are running at full speed. I installed my other R7970 Lightning BE, and works flawlessly! No problems what so ever! I took out the 'replacement' R7970 Lightning BE and found that a pipe on the side was damaged - dinted (you can see this in the pictures attached) and the heat sink on the graphics card is loose compared to my other R7970 Lightning BE, on top of that, the graphics card looks appalling, as if it's second hand. I also noticed that when I took the 'replacement' card out, it was rather hot, for running for 10 seconds, much hotter in comparison to my other R7970 Lightning BE graphics card. I was assured, by you, at the start of January, when you spoke to me of a replacement card, that it would be a 'new' card, you never stated that it will be a 'refurbished' version, even so, if this card worked correctly, as a 'refurbished' card, I would not be fussed anyways. I'm simply gutted and appalled that I received a completely faulty 'replacement' card, after waiting for 2 and a half months; where all I want is a card that functions properly and flawlessly, just as my other MSI R7970 Lightning BE does! I did not spend $1200 on 2x R7970 Lightning BE's to be presented with faults! I will contact you on Monday in regards to this issue.
h**p://imageshack.us/a/img209/9464/screweduppipe.jpg
(The card on the left is my 'replacement' card - dinted, the card on the right is the other R7970 Lightning BE card I had originally)
Regards,
David.
By the way, thanks heaps for you're speedy response! Much appreciated! -

how to solve this problem. I don't have any sim cards that came with iphone.
Please help out to solve this problem.
It sounds like the phone was hacked or jailbroken, and updating it locked it to the original carrier. As it is not possible to update to any version other than the current one (5.1) the fact that you updated to 4.1 pretty much confirms the phone was hacked. There is no solution that you can get in an Apple forum. -
"replace with after effect comp" problem
I started my project in Prelude where I mad subclips. I then imported those subclips to premiere to edit my story. Some of those subclips I would like to key or do other effects with in after effects, but I when I click on those clips and choose replace with after effects composition the clip that is opened in after effects does not have the same in and out points as the one in the premiere timeline. it is from the same clip and is the same duration but it just always starts at the beginning of the master clip. Is there something I am doing wrong or is there a better way to go about this?
Sorry, but something is definitely wrong with your workflow but not with the above.
When you select a clip or a group of clips in PrPro timeline and then choose 'Replace With After Effects Composition', AE creates and automatically opens a brand new composition, in which number of layers and their In and Out points correspond to a number of clips replaced with AE composition and their In and Out points in the PrPro Timeline accordingly (i.e. layers in that AE composition are appropriately trimmed and distributed in time).
See another one image, if you didn't notice that in the previous one the layer was trimmed:
So, the question is, what do you do to achieve what you see in AE, since you shouldn't do any extra steps to get correct result, 'cos AE opens that newly created composition automatically? Do you jump back to AE Project pan in an attempt to create a composition out of imported assets once again? -
Replace with after effects composition problem, video dissapears
Hi everyone,
I'm having a problem with premiere's cs5 "replace with after effects composition" command. Every time I try doing it I get just a new comp made in after effects but no files so the screen is just black without content.
Then the video in premiere dissapears too and the "file" in the timeline turns a pink color.
Any ideas about whats going on here? thanks in advance.Grant, I did figure it out (and felt rather silly when I did). You have to select all your files from the Project portion of AE and drag them into the Render segment - bottom left corner of your AfterEffects screen - in order for them to play. I guess I should have come back to the forum and reported once I got it working, so everyone would know that there's nothing wrong with Adobe. Once you do that, there are all sorts of super-cool things you can do with a slide show for video presentation. I did decide to put it into Windows Media Play and convert to MPEG before uploading to the internet, however, because it reduced the size to roughly 15% of AVI. I preserved AVI for DVD because of quality, which is far better.
There's an awesome video tutorial - thank you, Andrew Kramer!! - on creating slideshows at: http://library.creativecow.net/articles/kramer_andrew/slideshows/video-tutorial.php - now that you (hopefully) know what you're doing wrong in AE.

[Radeon] MSI RX9800 128MB WORSE After RMA
After months of unsuccessfully troubleshooting my 3d artifacting problems (random triangular polygon stretching that would only occur while playing games) with my never overclocked MSI 9800, I finally gave up and RMA'd it last week. The RMA process went without a hitch and only took a little over a week. It should be noted that I had to "rollback" to my 3 year old OEM Gateway GeForce 3 during the RMA (which still works just fine, imagine that), so no Battlefield 2 for me...
Finally I got my card back and I swapped it back into my machine. I anxiously pressed the power button only to see that the Windows XP boot graphic (the one with the blue loading bar) had large chunks of artifacting on it. How can that be? Windows loads and I see little blue and red blocks popping up around the screen, along with other artifacting in menus, graphics, etc. How did the RMA make my card even WORSE?! It may of had problems in games before but it NEVER artifacted in Windows.
I started a game up just to see what would happen and the intro movie had a large red triangle covering half the screen. When I actually got into the game itself the screen went black and had about 6 small squares of distorted pixels. I tried to Alt-Tab out of the game since I couldn't see anything on the screen and when I got back into Windows the screen was completely covered with artifacts, so bad I couldn't even see where to click. The mouse pointer (what was left of it...) was even covered with artifacts.
Long story short, RMA'ing my card to MSI cost me shipping charges and made my card EVEN WORSE than it was before. RMA is obviously not a solution for this card anymore and I will be contacting MSI for a replacement card.
I really hope no one else has a similar experience when RMA'ing their product to MSI...Richard,
I didn't ask anyone for help with troubleshooting my problem and rudely asking for my system specs via metaphor isn't exactly helping things either.
System specs are irrelevant in the case of the RMA for a very simple reason: Nothing changed in my computer from the time I RMA'd the card to the time I got it back and put it in. The only thing that got worse was my video card, which simply means the video card IS the problem. Believe me, I tried everything to get this card to work.. like I said in my first post. The time for troubleshooting is long since over, it's time for MSI to replace my card with a new one.
I posted this here so other MSI customers could see what potentially could happen when they RMA their products...
I'll be updating this thread after I call MSI tomorrow. -
In Pages, how do I edit the "My Card" data?
in Pages, how do I edit the "My Card" data?
I can't get a sender field to select my Email address or mobile phone.
I've searched the Help file for "My Card" and come up with nothing.
I've looked in My Contacts and edited the data where my name has a little blue bust (figuring MAYBE that's the My Card),
but everything looks correct in there, so the sender field isn't pulling data from here.
So WHERE DO SENDER FIELDS COME FROM?Peter:
First of all, THANKS for the quick reply. However it’s not working, either from the Link Inspector, or directly from the Menu. Here’s the steps to reproduce the problem:
I start with a new blank document, then pull down the Insert menu / Sender Field / Name / First Name, all it does is insert the word “First Name” into the document.
Pull down the Insert menu / Sender Field / Phone / Home Phone, all it does is insert the words “Home Phone”.
Same with all the other fields.
In other words, Sender Fields are not pulling data from the Contacts list.
I have done as you suggested, even closing both the Pages program AND Contacts, then starting Contacts first before starting Pages, in the hope that the link between the two will be established when starting Pages. Still no good.
I got it to work once last night (which was a good sanity-check for me to know I was doing it right) after editing my contact data inside the Contacts program, but I can’t get it to work today. I’ve tried rebooting, restarting Contacts, starting contacts BOTH before and after starting Pages. But it still won’t go.
It’s hard to believe this program is an Apple product, seeing how unreliable it is.
Any other suggestions?

"Replace with After Effects composition" in PP CS6 causes crash in AE CS6
Hello,
When I right click on a movie-file in a Premiere Pro seqence and choose "Replace with After Effects composition" AF starts, it asks me what I want the file name to be, "save" this and go on. I can see the interface for a short while, then it crashes and closes. In PP I get the error "The importer reported a generic error"
I have the latest versions of both PP and AE, downloaded from Creative Cloud.
What can I do to solve this?
By the way - when clicking on an audio track, "Edit in Audition" is greyed out... Problems with Dynamic link?
Regards,
Håkan
WIN7, 16 GB RAM Intel Core i7 920 @ 2,67GHzFuzzy,
I have now tried what you told me (and some more), without any success;
- Cleared all the files in the named folders
- reinstalled After Effects
- deactivated and reactivated the suite
Every time I try to:
- right click a video file in PP and choose "replace with...."
- copies a video file and pastes into AE...
AE crashes.
When I copy into AE it works until I drag the clip to "New composition", then it crashes.
Hopefully you, or anyone else, have more suggestions. I really need some rain on this clip...:)
UPDATE:
I have now tested with other footage, An MPEG-clip from my Sony (.m2ts) - this works well, both when I copy and paste, and when I use the "Replace..." within PP. The clip can be played in timeline without any problems.
Using the "Replace..." also works well "back in" PP - the effects are there when switching to PP.
However - when I add an XDCAM-HD 422 Movie (.MXF) file to this project it is ok, I can scratch (is that the correct english for using the mouse to "browse" the file in timeline?) this file in a comp, but as soon as I press "spacebar" to make it play "by itself", AE crashes.

Computer CONSTANTLY restarts while editing with premiere and after effects
Whenever i edit in premiere or after effects, my computer will always just randomly restart. It normally does it more in after effects than premiere, but lately, it has been doing it a lot in premiere, sometimes as much as every 15 minutes. Here are my specs:
Windows 7 64 Bit
i7 Processor
12GB Ram
4tb Raid system
NVIDA GEFORCE video card
800 watt power supply
3ghz speed
Does anyone know what the problem could be? I have been told that it could be the video card before, but I highly doubt that my video card is not sufficient enough for basic video editing on premiere, as I know many people who have worse video cards that edit with no problem. Please help! Here is all the information about my computer:

MSI GTX 560Ti twin frozr II OC high Temperature after RMA
Hey guys,
I have an MSI GTX 560ti Twin Froz II OC card which was giving me weird artifacts on desktop and many random places so i send the card to rma. They replaced it with a same model MSI GTX 560ti Twin Froz II OC card but since i got this card i am getting very high temperatures like it reaches 90-95 C in 10 minutes and keep rising with fan speed 100% in games like Dota 2,Grid 2 and many other games so is there anything i can do to solve this problem.
My Nvidia Driver Version- 320.14 i have even tried 320 but the same result.
My Gpu Screenshot
My bios file https://hotfile.com/dl/225315714/b7fd67b/GF1.html
Any bios upgrade might help?its showing me the same version i have checked using nbitor. What do u think can be the problem of temperature rising so fast nearly 90+ in 1 min any guesses? cause my old 560 was working perfectly should i go and rma again?

Dynamic Link Replacing w/ After Effects
I'm on a PC Windows7 Home Premium 2.88 AMD w/ 14GB Ram--- Production Premium CS5-
I have two cameras I am editing a wedding.
Camera 1's footage containing about 6 seperate files is on one path of the time line (path 1)
Camera 2's footage is on the second.
I trim the clips to have the entire ceremony go from camera to camera to create the best scenes for the ceremony.
Since SA's Color Finesse has better features to color grade, what I did was right click the cut clips and clicked 'replace w/ after effects composition.' The first one asked me to save a file which I did. I then went down to the different cut clips (some of them on the same source file, some not and I sent them to AE in the same fashion to grade. One time AE and PP crashed and when I reopened the project, the clips were red. I was able to manually relink the clips, but when I when I closed the programs and wanted to do this same process, I had to save another file which then made all the clips I had previously worked on red and missing.
I know there must be a pattern or rule that must be followed or else it all goes to crap. What is the pattern???
I also tried to color grade in AE and then I sent the AE file into PP it said that it did not have SA Color Finese 2.0 in PP (which mine is suppossed to be 3.0 in AE), thus all my work that way is wasted unless I render.
Thus, I want to be able to trim, arrange my clips in PP, then color grade w/ SA CF in AE. I don't like the color tools in PP. Am I stuck w/ having to buy something to color grade in PP?Yea man,
Here's the problem I had and would have if I continued doing this...
Timeline1- 3 clips----Day 1- you place effects on clips 1 and 2 w/ 'Replace w/ AE comp'. W/ 1st clip it prompts you to save an AE PROJECT file that becomes the link...it creates the AE comp file and places it in the PP project bin. Clip 2...as long as the AE PROJECT file that is linked to the first file is open, I can create a dynamic link for the second file and it automatically creates the AE comp in PP....Here's where the problem happened...
Day 2- so I come back the 2nd day (or whenever)... I had closed and saved the AE and PP project files that are linked together. When I open the PP project I'm working on, the dynamic links for clips 1 and 2 are in the bin...no problems. But, if I go to clip 3 to replace that one w/ an AE comp., when AE loads, it prompts me to save an AE project file again...If I save ANOTHER PROJECT file, then all the AE comps linked to the previous PROJECT file get delinked. What actually seems to happen is that clip 3, since it is technically the first comp in this NEW AE PROJECT file, the effects applied to clip 3 and clip 1 become tied together. Ex...If I do adjustments to the AE comp that is linked for clip 3, say I just make it bright blue just to see the effect, not only does clip 3 turn blue, but clip 1 also turns blue....The solution to this is when I open PP and want to go to my next clip, in this case clip 3, I need to open the original AE PROJECT file that is linked to clips 1 and 2. Then, if I do this, it automatically creates a new comp for clip 3 (it doesn't prompt me to save an AE PROJECT file) and there are no problems. That is the solution.
Important notes--- When I create the AE comps and they get loaded in PP, I did not rename them something else. I just kept the generic name AE and PP created for the linked file. I need to test what happens when I go and rename the created clip to see what happens.
Also, I do not know what happens in different time lines. All the work I've done has been in 1 time line and 1 timeline only. And, I have all the work on one path in the timeline, meaning I do not have clips stacked on one another.
From now on, when I want to replace PP w/ AE comps, I will always open the original AE PROJECT file that is linked to that PP project and can easily access this file by right clicking an already replaced (linked) clip and choosing 'edit original.'
So basically what you were duplicating with your tests failed to close and save PP and AE, then reopen PP, go to another unlinked clip and hit 'replace w/ AE comp." It should ask you to save another AE project...do that and you'll lose your other linked clips but 1 and the new one you are creating that first time. It does it on my system 100% of the time. I'm going too test it now BUT rename my comp links.
I'm really not that worried unless it is a bug in my program because I can always just open the original AE Project when I want to replace the clips. Thus far, it has worked w/ dozens of unique clips using the same source files as well as different source files. I have not had one problem w/ broken links provided I do this. It scares the **** out of me though not knowing what could happen, but I'll be keeping a close eye out and saving my work on a regular basis as I progress. -
GTX 680 Lightning now crashes to RED screen after RMA from March 2013
I had a GTX 680 Lightning crashing problem that required an RMA replacement back in March. Here's the thread I started about it: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=167822.msg1228389
Well, now I get a RED screen crash/restart every time I start any game. It happens within a few seconds to a few minutes, but it's consistent regardless of the game I play. Could this be another bad 680 after only 3 months?
My system specs: MSI GTX 680 Lightning 2GB, MSI GT 640 1GB (dedicated PhysX), i5-2500K, Asus P8Z77-V, Coolermaster V8, 16GB Corsair Vengeance 1600, 4TB storage, Corsair HX1000, Dell 3008WFP, Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.Red screens are usually caused by software isuues. First remove any monitoring software (like Afterburner) and retry. If no help try uninstalling current driver in safemode using >>Driver Fusion<< and power down. Remove the GT640 out of your system and restart. Install Nvidia driver and retry. For driver use the known good MSI driver 306.97: http://www.msi.com/service/download/driver-19780.html
