880GMA-E35 FX : ability to unlock 6 cores of 960T

Hello,
I've just bought a 880GMA-E35 FX and a Phenom X4 960T. Of course I tried to unlock the hidden cores but when enabling the core unlock in the bios, nothing happens, only 4 cores can be manually activated (not 6 as it should be).
In the documentation it's always talked about unlock the 4 cores, is this board not able to unlock the 6 ? or should I wait a future Bios update ? or just My 960T is not unlockable due to defective cores ?
Thanks for your help.
Voleur2poule

Thanks, where did you get this info ? I was not able to find any source on the net ?
The question I have is more to know if this main board is able to perform this unlock from 4 to 6 cores (it seems more designed to unlock 2, 3 to 4 cores but not 6) or not (making the assumption that my processor can be unlocked).
MSI France support did not reply to this question and only says 'there is few chance to find an unlockable processor' which is not my question.
Because if my unlock is not working due to the Mainboard I can exchange it for another model which can handle it, then I will see if I'm lucky or not to unlock my processor (I understood that there is very few chances).
With the "unlock cores" I was expecting to see the 2 additionnal cores in the Bios and have the oportunity to activate them or not (and understood that activating a defective one will lead to a crash). But in my case I only see the 4 cores is it the way it should work ?

  • MSI's Unlock CPU Core Technology

Core unlocking of AMD processor has been a very hot topic of forum discussion. The possibility of spending a mere $100 dollars for a Phenom II X2/X3 CPU and unlocking the disabled cores to yield a $200 dollars Phenom II X4 is exactly like the goal of every overclocker around .Due to this demand, MSI official introduce the exclusive technology of Unlock CPU Core.
MSI’s Unlock CPU Core technology became available with the introduction of AMD Phenom II CPU series. No matter dual-core, triple-core or quad-core, all fall into the same series, and the only difference in number of cores is the difference in normal operation. However, MSI has since offered a BIOS capable of taking advantage of the Unlock CPU Core ability in order to offer its customers an even better user experience. Simply by enabling the related function, users can easily activate concealed core(s). Additionally, in order to prevent any instability from activating the concealed core, MSI’s Unlock CPU Core technology can be turned both off and on, so the user can decide whether to overclock a single-core or run a multi-core setup.
[The Benefit of Unlock CPU Core]
    • With the same price, one can get an even better performance
    • The cost-performance ratio instantly increases 70% at least.
    • Just turn on this function, unlock CPU Core for freely
[How to Use MSI's Unlock CPU Core Technology]
STEP 1: Enter the Cell Menu option list in the BIOS
STEP 2: Enable the Unlock CPU Core function
STEP 3: Enable the ACC (Advanced Clock Calibration) function, and, at this time, you will see the originally two core list will become a four core list with the options of enabling/disabling any of Core 2
At this time, though Core 1 cannot be disabled, all other cores have the options of being enabled/disabled, but should any of the cores be unstable, the user may be unable to start his/her O/S, and the system may even crash.
STEP 5: If the cores are unlocked successfully, the user may try entering the system information and discover that what was first a dual-core CPU has grown to a quad-core , and the performance has highly increased.

Could be the option is missing because your CPU hasn't got a 4th core?
    I don't know, just guessing.
Im not sure either, but there are reports outthere that say that AMD is lasercutting the extra cores on the X2/X3 range, because of the unlocking of them.
So they physically remove any connections to other cores or the core itself and thus you cant unlock it, cause they rendered it useless and/or its not there anymore.
This has to do with the fact that most of the cores that are disabled are flawed.
Dunno if thats the case with your for sure though, you might get lucky and get the extra core to run, but there is NO guarantee it will work flawlessly.

  • Do I need to unlock CUDA cores?

I have Premire CS 5.5 and After Effects CS 5.5.  My windows 7 computer has an Asus ENGTX470 Phys X by NVIDIA GeForce GTX470 video card.  To get the full power avilable to me, do I have to go through a process of unlocking CUDA cores or is that done aoutomaticly?  If I have to go through some process, where do I find that process?

  • 880GMA-E35 does not detect PCI ethernet adapter

Mainboard 880GMA-E35 does not detect PCI ethernet adapter RealTek RTL8139D.
    What is the reason?
I did tests with the operating systems Windows XP 32-bit and Windows 7 64-bit
    my Computer:
    MSI 880GMA-E35
    AMD Athlon II X2 240, 2800 MHz
    2 X 4GB Kingston module memory 1066 MHz
    XFX Radeon HD 4670

In your manual (page 27) it shows 'Auto Disable DRAM/PCI Frequency.. 'Enabled' turns 'off' clocks in the PCI slot.
Just wondering in an attempt to help.

  • 880GMA-E35 + FX... now what?!

So... I'm so terribly sorry if this question has already been answered but after 5 result pages I gave up hope (Google didn't help either).
I have an 880GMA-E35 with an Athlon II x2 and it has been working solid for about an year (great MB!!! I love it!).
But so comes the time for the system upgrade and I got myself on a predicament... so here is the question, will an FX6100 (or possibly an FX4100) work on this MB?
I see no reason why not but then again, there is the 880GMA-E35 (FX) motherboard and I can't quite grasp what the difference is so I'm a bit lost.
    Thanks a ton.

the difference between the 2 boards:
880GMA-E35 - this board has a AM3 socket as it is a plain white one.
880GMA-E35 (FX) -  this board has a AM3+ socket as its a black one.
just to clue you in on the difference in the 2 sockets is the AM3+ Socket has 1 extra pin contact to the AM3 socket. so this means a AM3+ board can use a AM3 CPU as it still has all the same pin contacts but a AM3+ CPU will not fit into a AM3 Socket as the extra pin on the CPU unit would be damaged or cause the CPU to not actually enter the socket itself.
so NO your Plain 880GMA-E35 board cannot use a FX series processor as that is a AM3+ CPU with 1 extra contact pin as AM3 isn't forward compatible! whereas The 880GMA-E35 (FX) is backward compatible with AM3 processors and can use the newer AM3+ CPU's.
does that explain why its not possible?

  • 785GTM-e45 enable Unlock CPU Core - won't post past sata harddrive detection

I recently bought a 785GTM-E45 and have a Phenom II x2 560 in it.  I have a sata harddrive drive attached with the Raid setting to AHCI.  I have windows 7 x64 running fine, but wanted to see if I could unlock any cores.  If I enable ACC but leave Unlock CPU Core to Disabled, I can boot fine.  But when I change Unlock CPU Core to Enabled and reboot, i get the Post messages and it identifies the CPU as Phenom II X4 B60.  Its goes through the whole posting until it get to initializing the sata drives.  It will sit on that screen for a few minutes and then say that no drives are found so it cant boot.  If i do the same thing with the harddrive unplugged, it immediately says it can't find any drives.  I have tried changing the Raid setting to IDE with similar results.   I am running bios version 8.8  One thing I noticed that I thought was strange is that when I do the save after enabling CPU Unlock, the computer totally shuts off.  The power light turns off, all drives and fans turn off, then it turns it self back on and does the reboot.  It only does this with CPU Unlock enabled.

I believe that AMD is doing a more thorough job of disabling defective cores on those things and you will not be able to unlock. We've been seeing more and more of that recently on the 5xx series. If you want more cores then you will have to pay for them, looks like no longer a free ride for extra cores. Can't blame MSI for that.

  • Msi 880gma-e35 (fx) Core unlocking...it is that safe on 95w athlonII ?

I read about many msi 880gma-e45 fried using cpu 125 watt tpd....do you think that would be safe to unlock a fourth core on a Athlon II X3 455 (TPD 95W)?
How many phase has this board?
    Thanks

I would advise against it as the 455 is a B55 125W with a disabled core. No sense taking a chance of frying CPU VRM MOSFETS by doing the unlock. Also do not attempt to OC a 95W cpu on that MB as more than likely you would have the CPU higher than 125W and have the same fried MOSFET problem.

  • Bios/unlock second core GF615M-P33 V2

    Hello,
i messed up a little trying to flash the bios hoping to unlock a second core of my sempron 140.
My current bios version is 10.2.
I cant run the Live update tool because im using Linux and i cant check witch is the newest bios version also i cant download the bios file and flash it via usb stick because i cannot find any list of bios versions.: )
So can you tell me where to find the list that im looking for and is it possible to unlock the second core with the GF615M-P33 V2 motherboard?
    thnxs : )

    Here it is.
1.Set 'CPU LED Phase Control' default = disabled.
    2.Remove small logo.
1.Fix the issue that sometimes it will inform the need of password when entering setup,
when update a new bios which never set the password.
    1. Fix "chassis intrusion" function error after clear cmos.

  • HDMI and DVI port not working on 880GMA-E35

    Hello,
I want to use the HDMI port of my 880GMA-35, but the monitor is not getting a signal. I know that the board has two jumpers to switch between the DVI and the HDMI port. In the delivery state the jumper is set to HDMI, but I don't get a signal. There is also no signal, if I switch the jumper to the DVI pins. I have tested this setup which different cables (HDMI and DVI) and two different monitors.
After this test I get a guarantee replacement of the board. The new board is also not working with HDMI or DVI. The VGA port of the first board was working as supposed and I don't see any Bios settings to activate the monitor ports.
Are there any suggestions to solve my problem?
Thanks in advance and kindly regards
    Daniel

  • HT201210 Updated newest version on my iphone, but lost the ability to unlock my phone with my previous password.  I did not change that password.  It is locked

I bout the app "find my phone".  Accodingly updated I tunes so that I could access icloud.  Did all that.  However, when I tried to unlock my phone with my password (which I did not change) it did not recognize it.  Help!!

    Hi Ethan6661,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you do not have access to the computer you normally sync with, it may be necessary to use one of these methods to erase your phone and remove the passcode:
iOS: Forgotten passcode or device disabled after entering wrong passcode
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212
If you see one of following alerts, you need to erase the device:
"iTunes could not connect to the [device] because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the [device] before it can be used with iTunes."
"You haven't chosen to have [device] trust this computer"
If you have Find My iPhone enabled, you can use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
Alternatively, place the device in recovery mode and restore it to erase the device:
Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to shut down.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then restore the device.
    Best,
    Jeremy

  • Why would make a voice recognition software and not give it the ability to unlock your iphone for you?

Seriously why would you make a voice recognition software on a phone that can't unlock your phone for you? That makes absolutly no sense. Maybe you should consider adding that feature in your next update.

Nothing is difficult for the person who doesn't have to do it or doesn't understand it. I would never use it on a device based on the current state of the art; it would be too easy to spoof. Keep in mind that Siri does not do speech recognition on the phone; it does it on Apple's (actually Nuance's) servers; it sends your input over a data connection to the server where the work is actually done, then the reply is sent back. Using the same technology for speaker identification would mean keeping a database of potentially 500 million users and being able to search it fast enough to unlock your phone. AND it would require a data connection. So you couldn't unlock your phone in Airplane mode, for example.
So that means that it would have to be able to recognize your voice entirely on the phone. I'm reasonably sure that's not what Samsung does; I suspect what they do is speaker independent recognition of your chosen passphrase, possibly taking into account tonality. Which means that anyone who heard you unlock your phone with a voice in the same pitch range as you could unlock it after stealing it. It also wouldn't work very well in a noisy environment.
I love Touch ID. It works perfectly almost every time, I don't have to say anything (which is a great convenience when using your phone in a meeting), and it's faster than speaking a phrase. And to use a voice password you would still have to push a button to wake the phone; on my 5S pushing the button wakes AND unlocks the phone. I don't have to say a thing.

  • MSI 890GXM-G65 Zosma Core CPU 960T support

Hey guys, i picked up AMD Phenom x4 960T proccy - HD96ZTWFK4DGR ,ZOSMA core, was wondering if my board will support it. In the webpage of CPU support i see Phenom II X4    Zosma    HD840TWFK4DGR    840T is supported. Please do let me know.

It may work if you try or you could wait for someone with the same CPU to post and let you know. Probably quicker to contact MSI to check with them as they should be able to tell you. >>How to contact MSI.<<

after enable the Unlock CPU Core function and Enable the ACC (Advanced Clock Calibration) function, you leave the core control to auto. reboot and see if it is stable. if not stable, come back to bios, and set core control to manual, try to disable one of core 3, and core4. if stable, you get a good X3. if still not stable, then you cpu is still a good x2.

  • Unlocking cores 990xa-gd55

I have finally worked through my display driver problems (turned out to be a flash problem) now I want to figure out why unlocking the cores works on occasion but most of the time it doesn't.  On the occasion it does unlock all six cores the system runs fine and all is good until I go into stand-by or restart the machine.  When it resumes (it appears to go thru post) or restarts I'm back to 4 cores.  I've tried this by just changing the bios settings and OC genie II same result.  It might take one restart or many to get the 6 core back but most of the time I end up with only 4.  I've never had a problem posting or getting into windows so it seems to just be a bug with the unlocking feature in the bios.  I really don't care to overclock but I would like to have all the cores as they seem to be fine and stable when they are unlocked.  Any insight would be appreciated.

There is nothing guaranteed with core unlocking. It could have been sold as a 4 core cpu because 1 of the cores was defective or something like that.
It is possible updating the bios to the most recent full release >>MSI Downloads<< or beta: >>Beta BIOSes<< may help.

    Hi,
I have just bought this board for a Phenom x4 960T BE and was looking to see if one or two extra cores would unlock. I know they are not guaranteed to unlock, but only 4 cores are showing in the Bios and I just don't know if I'm missing something obvious or if this cpu only has the four cores. Can anyone help?
