8820 Turns off for no reason

My 8820 turns off for no reason. The only way I can get it to turn back on is by taking the battery out. Has anyone else encountered this problem? What did you do?

I think a wipe with JL-cmder with a reloading the OS fresh would be in order...

I've had my ipod Photo for almost a year and just had the same thing happen for the first time - it just stopped, fully charged, while playing. And, it froze up in the sleep mode. I followed the instructions to reset it ( toggling the Hold Switch on and off) but nothing happened on the first 3 tries. I let it sit for about 15 minutes while searching in the Help & Apple Discussions forum and, just now tried toggling the Hold Switch again and noticed before doing so, that it had shut off. I toggled the Hold Switch to the locked position (Hold) then to the unlocked position and it came back on!
I'm sorry I can't tell you why it happens. If anyone knows, I'd like to know, too.

Service turn off for no reason

My service was turned off for no reason. When I call to find out why my service was out they first said nonpayment. I am not behind on my payments. The person on the phone check and sure enough I am current with my account. I now have to wait two more days for some one to contact me about getting my service turned back on. They have been off since Monday night night. Really what kind of service is this. Do I not count as a customer? I wonder how many people this has happen to. I really think its time to change providers. I would like to go with the company that has the Hopper.

3gs phone turns off for no reason

iPhone turns off for no apparent reason. Battery is at full capacity and I just synced it. I have the latest 4.3.3 software. Any ideas? My girlfriend has the same issues and we use different computers and accounts to sync our iPhones. We've had the phones for a little over 2 years now.

1st I got two of my smarter younger brothers to help and they proceeded to try a variety of things including:-
a) swapping batteries from their phone with mine, which didn't work
b)swapping SIM cards with mine, which also didn't work but did allow us to have a longer play around with my phone as it didn't turn off when a different SIM was in the phone
What worked? We decided to "Restore factory settings" on my phone. My phone doesn't remove Contacts, Calendar entries and one other personal item which I can't recall when you use this function but we still saved my contacts to one of my brothers SIMs and also moved a number of photos, recordings, and video over to my memory card.
Once this was done I put my SIM back in then restored the factory settings. There was just enough time to get to this function, just note that if you do this function you may need to have your "Security Code" handy.
I don't think that there is any conspiracy with the phone companies (I'm with Virgin Mobile), but what I think happened was that my Brother in Law sent me a Xmas message that had some inbuilt functionality (packet data??) that my phone needed to download to view it. I think this was the cause because when my brother's SIM was in my phone I received a msg on my phone that read "Unable to receive msg from..." and I select "OK" which I think rejected it.
Hope this help someone out in the future? Hope that I haven't been to vague. Let me know if you would like any more info.

Phone turns off for no reason! Help!

I've got a Nokia 6300 phone. For some reason, all of a sudden, its been turning its self off for no reason. When i switch my phone on, it starts up like normal, but then a letter 'G' in a box appears in the top left hand corner of the screen, along with a yellow envelope which rotates and turns into a paperclip. Then the screen turns white and the phone turns itself off. This seems to happen everytime i turn my phone on now, i have restored the factory setting, but this has not solved the problem. My internet sound will turn off for no reason...

There are times I can play music on youtube for hours and be fine and other times the sound will just cut off for no reason. This happens whether the computer is plugged in or not. When I reboot the computer the sound will usually start working again but today the sound cut off again after just a few seconds. I'm using firefox and vista. Could it be an issue with one of those?

My iPhone 4S just turned off for no reason and won't turn back on?

My iPhone 4S just died for no apparent reason and now it will not turn back on. It was at about 90% battery at the time because I had just recently charged it so I don't think it died because of low battery. I have tried plugging it into outlets and computers/iTunes and nothing seems to work. I also can't do the trick involving holding down the power and home button because my power button has been jammed for over a year now. My iPhone is about 2 years old and I have never had this problem before. Earlier today it died for no reason but when I plugged it in, it turned on with no problem.
Is there anything I can do about this? Also, I am due for a phone upgrade in about 3 weeks. I was planning on getting the 5S. Is there any way that I would be able to get the upgrade several weeks early if my phone is broken?

Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.

Music Turns Off For No Reason

I just got an iPhone on Sunday and I've noticed that when playing music out loud and surfing the web, the music randomly shuts off - not because of a phone call or text, just for no reason. Is this normal? Should it stop playing after a few minutes for no reason?

Its a known bug and well documented in previous posts. Seems to happen if the phone has been running for a 3-4 hours+. Turn the phone off and on to clear it up (hold the top button down for 5 secs). We are all hopeful the next software update will resolve this issue.

Try these three things.
1) Try trashing these 3 .plist preferences and reboot. Reset your Energy Saver preferences.
HD > Library > Preferences > SystemConfiguration > com.apple.AutoWake.plist & com.apple.PowerManagement.plist
User > Library > Preferences > com.apple.systemuiserver.plist
2) Do an Open Firmware reset: Hold the CommandOption+OF keys during startup. At the '>' prompt type:

3) Reset your PMU.

Mac Pro turns off for no reason

For the past week or so my Mac Pro is on occasion just turning off, as if the power cord had been suddenly pulled. But only the Mac itself is cutting off, the monitor and other peripherals in the room remain running. There's no dimming in the power as far as I can and after today I don't believe that it is a power surge or loss that is causing the problem. Today the computer has started almost continually turning itself off after shorter and shorter time periods. Just winks out. I've checked all the plugs, ran DIsk Utilities and have the most current OS version installed.
I'm stumped and find that with the machine only staying on for 5 minutes max now that my ability to tech the machine is severely hampered. Any ideas where to begin to look?

I wasn't talking about one line per computer, just one line to your office and equipment off the circuit breaker that isn't shared by 1000W of other equipment.

The Mac Pro wasn't behaving but nothing we can do. And rather than occur on cold boot, it was at its worse on wake from sleep, which a firmware update helped resolve, and models built after April didn't suffer from.
A UPS protects your equipment and extends the life probably of components, like modem and the rest, and keeps it running better with fewer problems. I would never run a workstation and $5000+ of equipment (and data has value) without. While no single power conditioner can correct all power quality problems, many can correct a variety of them.

A reset may help: Tap and hold the Home button and the On/Off button at the same time for approximately 10-15 seconds, until the Apple logo reappears. When the logo appears release both buttons and await restart.

IBook G4 turns off for no reason

I've had my iBook for 9 months now with no problems, but in the last few days it has started turning off while on battery , and usually in the middle of doing something. This seems to happen about 20 minutes after coming off the wall-power in general.
There's no low battery warnings (slim battery monitor shows at least a few hours left), but it won't turn back on until its plugged in and the button on the battery doesn't show up any charge.
When I plug it back in however, and os x boots up, it only takes about 20 minutes before it says it's charged fully.
Can anyone help? I looked at the apple page about restarting the power monitor, but according to that page this model iBook doesn't have a reset button.

You need FAQ #6 on the PMU
page. It's a key combination.
You may also want to calibratie your computer's battery.

Ipad turns off for no reason

Read the title...happens 2-3 times a day, I'm on almost full battery most of the time because I like my brightness low and it doesn't necessarily just happen in app, I might be just moving to an app on the home screen and it'll turn off!

Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
