8900 / Gmail vs Entourage vs 'Device Default' calendar problem

So I've got the 8900, and sync it with my Mac running MS Entourage.  I have two email accounts on my 8900: one business, and one gmail.
On my 8900, it looks like my calendar has three input options: Device Default, the business account calendar and the gmail calendar.   I only use, or I only WANT to use, the business account calendar for all calendar input and syncing, but it looks like gmail is set as the default (even though from the 8900 the 'Device Default' appears to be a third choice).  When I sync with Entourage, I'm getting duplicate calendar entries, both on the 8900 and in Entourage.
Does anyone know how I can set my business account as the default calendar input choice? I would like to do that, or simply remove the 'Device Default' and gmail settings.  I've tried going to 'options' from the 8900 calendar but can't seem to find it, or can't figure it out.
Thanks for the help.
Matt

  • Outlook email as the device default calendar

I got my Blackberry at the end of February, and established my Outlook email as the default email for the device calendar and have had no problem sync'ing the calendar and contacts between Outlook and the device using the Blackberry Desktop Software.
A Blackberry core update was pushed and installed on the device recently, and since then, the device could not keep the Outlook email as the email for the device default calendar.  Each time when it occured, one of the two things happened: either any appointment I entered on the device would be labeled as Outlook email calendar item, separate from all items of the device default calendar (visible in different color indicator), in which case the added appointmend could not be sync'ed to my desktop Outlook calendar; or all my default calendar items would be reassigned to Outlook email calendar (the color indicator changed to green instead of the default blue), in which case  the device would ask to delete ALL appointment items on my desktop Outlook calendar when sync'ing because it couldn't reconcile the default calendar with the Outlook email calendar.
Each time when the problem occurs, I would delete the Outlook email (so that the device had no default email) and then reinstalled it so that the Outlook email was the email for the device default calendar.  The sync works after that but only for a short while each time. Then the problem reappeared.
When I sync'ed the device with desktop Outlook,  I also noticed that on the device under Setup > Email Accounts, the Synchronization Options for the Outlook email has only the box for "Deleted Items" and not boxes for calendar and contacts, though I don't know whether that makes any difference.
I suspect there must be something wrong in the recent Blackberry core update that is messing up the default calendar when it's linked with an Outlook address. Could you help fixing this problem please.

    Hi,
Just to clarify I did not question the VPN connection as being the problem with your email. My point was accessing a networked MS Outlook email account via VPN would I think change the way the sync and reconciliation worked.
The term device default in these calendar discussions can be confusing as "default" is used as a CICAL calendar description and a device calendar description.
The service books could have certainly caused the problems. I would suggest reading this article describing how the device calendar works with items not associated with a CICAL from an email associated calendar. The merge function is not the point, the calendar process is.
Please let me know your thoughts.

  • Help! How do I get "device default" calendar items on my Outlook calendar?

Help! Everything was going fine until yesterday, and all of a sudden all of my items in Outlook turned to "device default" items in my Blackberry and they have moved off my Outlook calendar. HELP!

    Hi there!
Ummmm...this does not sound like an issue regarding AppWorld...can you post your specific device model (and device OS level, while you are at it...plus carrier and your email integration method -- BES or BIS or Desktop Redirector) and we'll have the thread moved over to the appropriate forum?

  • Calendar Entries change to Device Default rather than associated e-mail address when upgraded

    Hi,
I upgraded my Curve 8330 software to the latest. Once this was done, I noticed my calendar entries are now showing Device Default in the Send To field.  When I try to sync with my Outlook Calendar (2007), it won't sync these particular entries.  In actual fact, the same entries that are in my calendar (that were sync'd prior to upgrade) contain many of the entries that were associated with the e-mail address.  So, I got duplicate entries on my device.
I tried going the route of doing a 1 way sync from my device to Outlook, but it, it wasn't recognizing the Device Default entries.  And I can't go the route of a 1 way sync from Outlook to my Device since I have since made many changes on my device.
What can I do to get the Device Default calendar entries to sync (even 1 way sync) to my Outlook calendar?  I have hundreds of entries and I don't want to have to redo all of this each time I upgrade.  (Not even sure why my calendar entries flipped like this on my Curve to give me this problem in the first place).

Hi and welcome to the forums!
    1. Take a look at options-advanced options-default services.  The CICAL (calendar) and CMIME (messaging) should the email address originally associated with your BB.
    2. Entries in the device default will not sync with Outlook.
    3. Read this KB article paying particular attention to Cause 3.  http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB16063&sliceId=SAL_Pub...
    Post back with any questons.

I know this email is confusing and really hard to understand...perhaps now you will know how i've been feeling--lost and confused with all the mis-information, with a hit and miss phone, and out of time with all the 1 1/2 hr to 2 hrs EACH wasted on this issue.
On top of all this, I can't even find out how to file a complaint with anyone higher up than Customer Service.
I hate to tell you this, but you didn't write an email. You wrote a discussion post on the Verizon Wireless Community forum which is a public peer to peer forum. Unfortunately since you didn't mark your post as a question, the VZW reps that roam this community won't ever see your post. Before you re-post it, don't. Duplicate posts get removed from the community.
I see there were several missteps both by the reps and yourself in your post. First you should have insisted on returning the phone within the 14 day return policy period. Second which Samsung Galaxy mini model did you purchase? The S3 mini or the S4 mini? Did you do any research prior to deciding on this device. The reps at that time deflected the easiest course of action, by trying to get you to replace the phone under insurance instead of returning the phone. The Early Edge payment option requires the current phone on the line using the early Edge must be returned to Verizon Wireless. Did you once considered going to a third party site like Swappa to purchase a gently used device for your daughter?

  • How do I add my gmail calendar to the default calendars list for reminders?

When I right click on a time/date in my mac mail message to add it to a calendar, it defaults to my home calendar.  As best as I can tell this is determined by the option for setting your default calendar for reminders in the preferences for iCal.  In my preferences for iCal I can set my main calendar preference to my gmail calendar, but I can not set the default calendar for reminders to my gmail calendar.  My gmail account shows up as grayed out and doesn't show any of my gmail calendars as options.  Is it possible to set reminders to my gmail calendar?  How?  Thanks for any suggestions.

    Hi,
Google Calendars do not sync Reminders (what Google call Tasks) via CalDAV. That is why you cannot set up the default iCal Reminders list to the Google options.
    Best wishes

  • Setting a default Calendar - iCal vs Entourage

I have recently installed MS Office 2008.
Since then, when I attempt to add a date (from mail for example) to a calendar Entourage opens as the default.
I can add to iCal by right clicking and 'opening with', however Entourage remains the default.
If anyone has any advice I'd appreciate it.

    Try this:
    1. Open the mail file that has the calendar invite embedded in the message and drag the calendar attachment (file) to your desktop.
    2. Right click (or option click on the calendar file you dragged to your desktop.
    3. Select "Get Info"
    4. A couple of entries down in this window is an item called "Open with:". Select this.
    5. In the drop down menu, select "iCal".
6 (optional) Below this you'll see a button called "Change All..." click this if you want all existing attachments of this type to be open with iCal.
That should do it. Best of luck.

  • Calendar sync problem: "the default service for your device's calendar has changed..."

When I go to sync, this window pops up:  "The default service for your device's 'Calendar' has changed since the last time you synchronized.  Click OK to use your new default service and combine your data, which might duplicate some entries.  Click Cancel to stop...."
I haven't changed a thing.  What's going on?  I don't want to get duplicate entries.

Yes, I sync with Outlook.  From what I understand, your default service should be your e-mail address for both mail & calendar.Spell Check

  • How do i remove an old email address listed under gmail in the default calendar window?  The 'edit' calendar pop up doesnt let me change or edit the old address?

Hi,  I am tryingto remove an old email address that appears in my Calendar under 'show calendars'.  It appears under a Gmail label.  The edit button only allows me to turn on the gmail (with the incorrect email address) and the iCloud and Birthdays options. It does not allow me to change to email address from the old, incorrect email to the new one.  The new one I use is correctly shown in the Gmail account under the Mail, Contacts, Calendar settings.
    Any ideas.

If I start an email to John Doe. I type in his name and if I look at the drop down menu when I click his name, it will offer several options, including "open in address book". Makes sense. He is already there.
But some names, a few to be sure, have "add to address book" even though they are already there.
And if I open the address book and open their page, I will see all the info, just as I should.
But if I click on the "add to address book", the same email address is repeated on their page in the address book. So I could end up with the same email address 5 times on the page.
Someone told me once that if I cannot cure the bug then I should consider it a "feature".

  • Default calendar

Hi, can I use a "subscribed" calendar as my default calendar ? Not sure how to change from my current default ( if i can ).

    Hello Jake7363,
If you do not have the calendar option available under the email setup option for you integrated Gmail® account remove and re-add the account, this option is available for BlackBerry® Device Software 5.0.0.176 to 7.1.
Then have a look at the following article on how to enable calendar synchronization with a integrated Gmail® email account: http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/KB24204.
    Thanks.

  • Why does an iPhone/iPad default calendar change?

    Hi,
I'm working with several hundred iPhones and iPads, and I'm having difficulty understanding what causes someone's default calendar to change.
I push an ActiveSync profile through an MDM solution, and on a brand new phone that becomes the default calendar.
Sometimes when I deal with a device later, I see that the default calendar has been changed to either the iPhone calendar, or an iCloud calendar.
What I want to know is *WHY* a calendar changes? Does it change when someone:
    adds an iCloud account
    adds the gmail/yahoo/outlook app
    adds another native mail account
    whenever there's an activesync issue
connects to a computer with iTunes
    accepts a meeting invite
Really any information or experience anyone can provide is helpful. I want to find out what circumstances or changes would require someone to verify their default calendar.
    thanks!

That's actually become our resolution is to have them change it back. Thanks for the suggestion though.
Unfortunately I can't tell what changes it in the first place. I've several devices of my own, and immediately after enrolling in the MDM, one of the devices has the calendar set as the activesync one, and another is the on-device calendar.
There has to be something that triggers this, but I haven't been able to effectively reproduce the problem, but I would expect that the ActiveSync calendar should become the default calendar, but perhaps my expectations are misplaced.

  • My ipad has stopped syncing my calendar. Both iPhone and ipad.  After going to the setting - mail, contacts, calendar my Ipad has no where under the calendar category for default calendar.  How can I get my calendar to sync between iPhone and ipad???

Up until recently my calendar were syncing (between my iPhone 4 & ipad mini). They are no longer synching.  I have searched and everything matches to all the resolutions, the problem is on my ipad under Calendars in the settings there is no option for "default calendar". Every other option matches to what is on my phone, just the default calendar option is missing.  The default email is the same for both.  Help!!!!
    Thank you
    Penelope190

An interesting additional symtom is that items loaded in the PC (which immedialely duplicate to the iCloud calendar on eht PC - no worries, there) do not transpose the devices (as above) but, loading an item into the phone, it goes to the PC (which is fine, too).  But not to the iPad.  Interestingly, there fewer calendar display options on the iPad than on the phone.
I talked to Apple a few months ago (after ISO 5) - mainly about the 6000 plus addresses that suddenly appeared in my Contacts - and his advice was do all contact and calendar actions on the PC.  "icloud is still faulty"
So there we are!   I must have items and reminders in my PC - it is my main work station - and need them on my devices to avoid conflicts when away from my office.

  • How do i have multiple calendars on my default calendar setting?

How do i get shared calendars onto my default calendar so i am able to view everything in one place?

The default calendar is the one that events are added to unless you specify something different. Their can be only one.
What are you syncing your phone to for calendars? Gmail? Outlook? iCloud? Something else? Without knowing that, it's hard to give advice.

  • How do I set a default calendar when adding new events on iCal?

When I add events from either my macbook pro or my iphone using ical there seems to be no rhyme or reason as to whether these events are added to either my "work" or "home" calendar. I would like to have all events added by default to one or the other calendar. Anyone know how to set a specific calendar as the default regardless of through which device I add events?

    webco,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
The iCal desktop calendar has no such preference. Default entry is dependent upon first selecting the appropriate calendar in the "CALENDARS" pane.
The iPhone default calendar is available by selecting Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Calendars>Default Calendar.
    ;~)

  • My default calendar is no longer syncing with outlook.

I was editing my default calendar in outlook 2010 when suddenly the calendar went blank on my Windows 7 PC.
The information is still on icloud (and all of my other apple devices).  How can I import calendar details from icloud into my default Outlook 2010 calendar?

What happens when you try to sync? Do you see any error messages? Which software on the computer are you referring to, iTunes? The latest iTunes is 11.1.3. If you cannot update the phone due to lack of storage, you will need to delete some content from the phone.
