890fxa-gd70 Motherboards Do Not Boot + video (please help)

So I have TWICE returned this model motherboard for a new one under warranty. The second time they asked me to make sure there was a problem with the board because they didn't detect any problems with the first board I RMAed.
So anyway, I press ON and the board never gets past a few leds lighting up. There is no error code because it doesn't even turn on. Things I have tried:
Different PSU
Different memory in each slot
Different processor
Connected hard drive/ disconnected hard drive
Different graphics cards and 1 in each PCIe slot
I can't update the BIOS because it doesn't boot
I normally run the operating system off my flash drive.
It has always been on an anti-static surface (cardboard)
These boards worked for a little while then just randomly stopped working. The latest board I got booted up for a while then kind of went into a sleep mode that it could never wake up from.
If anyone has any ideas please let me know. It costs me $15 bucks every time I RMA this piece of crap. I have 2 different of these boards in my possession right now having the EXACT same problem!
youtube.com/watch?v=1QY99sMdF6Y  video of it not booting when it's supposed to.
The hdd light just stays on (red light) and those blue lights and nothing else powers on not even the fans.

All my cards are radeon hd 6870s
AMD Sempron 145 Processor
The PSU is an OCZ ZX Series 1250W (+12VDC @ 104A Single Rail Design)
I also tried my other OCZ 1000watt on it with only 1 GPU plugged in.
The lack of booting happens with 0-4 cards plugged in. Just the lights come on, particularly the red hdd light stays lit.
I tried multiple different types of DDR3.
Currently, It's OCZ platinum 7-7-7 DDR3 1600. This is a product listing of the memory that I'm currently using for it: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227381
I was previously booting off a mambo 32gb USB but now I can't.
I also tried plugging in an SSD hard drive: 60GB Agility 3 SATA 6Gb/s.
Is a listing of components relevant outside

  • Help! Computer turns on but then will not boot up - Please Help!

I have no idea what happened to my Apple. Someone please help me. My powerbook currently is running on no battery (recall victim) and now the entire computer is no longer functioning at all. I installed iTunes 7.0 and then the trouble began. I had to restart the computer, so I did that and then the computer just wont boot up. It goes to the grey screen which shows the Apple symbol and occurs right before my log in then just continues to read. The green light for the battery is function and nothing at all is working. The computer simply will not boot up, I have tried unplugging it for the night and then rebooting it and nothing. Please someone help, what has went wrong?

You mentioned in your other thread that you had trouble with a cpu(0) hardware error trying to use the hardware test disk. Is this the hardware test disk which came with that particular machine? If not, then you need to find the original hardware test disk that came with that machine. If the restore disks that say 12" Powerbook include the words hardware test, use those instead and follow these directions:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86287
If you are using the correct hardware test disk and you get a cpu(0) error using it, then the machine has a hardware problem.

Did you connect 12V CPU power?
Also the screen should be connected to your videocard, not to the onboard video as that's turned off because you inserted a videocard.
I tried both onboard and videocard connections. No difference.

Does the system pass POST at all? (ie does it give any beeps?)
Did it ever work with the new board?
Have you connected both the 24pin AND the 4pin power connectors to the board?
Have you connected your monitor to the 465GTX card? What about if you remove that card and connect monitor to the onboard?
It does not give any beeps.
    I have both 24PIN and 4PIN connected.
I tried removing the 465GTX card and using the onboard. No difference.

From a mATX... Hm, you should have had a look at the number of stand-offs/distanser/spacers. They stand a cm tall between the mobo and case, for the screwing.  If there is one too many and in the wrong place there is an immediate risk of a short.
I believe there are six, but I will check that out.
EDIT: Just to let you guys know, I found out that the problem was a poorly seated CPU and heatsink. Thanks anyway for the support.

  • Powermac G4 AGP not booting completely - please help!

    Evening all
I have just bought a G4 AGP Powermac to use as a file server. It came with a 15" Apple Studio Display which runs off an ADC connector. When I try to boot up, the LED on the front lights up, the case fan and the PSU fan spin up and the DS5 LED on the mainboard lights up; at this point the LED on the front goes off again (which I think is normal?). Only problem is - no dice. If I touch the power button on the Studio Display it lights up then go off again when I take my finger away. I can turn the computer off by holding down the power button on the front.
I've measured the battery voltage and get 3.6V; I've tried resetting the PMU and have checked the PSU voltage on the logic board connector - all of the voltages seem solid. Have also tried taking out various RAM sticks (there are 4) and no joy either.
So...any thoughts more than welcome! Many many thanks in advance.
    Regards
    mr1970

    do I just keep resetting the CUDA;
No. This is only for the purpose of resetting the power management function. Once in a while, or, when nothing else works, OK. Continual resetting, or pushing multiple times, will cause the PMU to quit responding. That leads to the need for a new logic board.....
is the hard drive on its last legs? It's the original 25GB Quantum Fireball so it's been in there a while, but I'm not sure that would make it freeze
I would hold the hard drive suspect. Any hard drive older than 5 years should not be trusted, especially with important data.
And Yes, a failing drive can cause the system to freeze, or, in your case, get kernel panics. That is what the "gray screen" is.
Kernel panics are often hardware problems, but can be caused by software; outdated/incompatible drivers and corrupt/incompatible software.

If you can find a panic report (should you get booted again) look for the lines imediately after "backtrace". These lines typically indicate the root of the problem
    is it RAM?
A leading cause of kernel panics is RAM. Testing the RAM with Rember would be wise.
The RAM for a Gigabit Ethernet machine should be PC100 or PC133 low density RAM.
    DIMM Specifications
The vendor has clearly upgraded so there are two pairs of RAM in there which don't look the same (and indeed one pair is physically higher than the other pair)
The different heights (is it?) aren't a problem. The structure, density, voltage, and quality are.
is it just a loose connection?
Only removing and reseating every component will see.
It may be worth removing and reseating the CPU, and installing new thermal compound between the CPU chip and the heatsink.
The description of your freezes do sound similar to overheating, though a panic is usually not the result. Just simple freezing.
BTW, what CPU do you have? 400mhz? Dual 450mhz? Dual 500mhz?
Rather than continue to reset the CUDA, for reasons already stated, try resetting the PRAM via keyboard commands. On startup, hold CommandOption+PR, and hold until the second startup chime, then release. The machine should continue to a normal boot.
Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
BTW, resetting the PRAM will erase any panic logs, though this is the least of your worries.

  • Computer will not boot up please help

I have a PowerBook G4 and when I try to turn it on it gives me this message that says "you need to restart your computer. Hold down the power button" The I hold it down to restart and it just brings me to the same screen. can any one help on this. thanks

Are there multi-language words on the screen? If so, you're having a kernel panic.
Kernel panics are usually caused by a hardware problem – frequently RAM, a USB device or a Firewire device. What external devices do you have connected? When trying to troubleshoot problems, disconnect all external devices except your monitor, keyboard and mouse. Do you experience the same problems?
    Have you recently added RAM?
May be a solution on one of these links.

    Many thanks.
With those symptoms, I'd try the following document:

(If there's a SpeedBit LSP showing up in Autoruns, it's usually best to just uninstall your SpeedBit Video Accelerator.)

  • Mac Pro will not Boot...Help!!!

I have a Mac Pro with 4x500GB in RAID 10, well earlier today during normal use my system locked up and I couldn't select force quit or anything my system just sat there frozen and unresponsive. After about 5 minutes I decided to just hold in the power button and reboot.
Well now when the system boots I get the nortmal grey apple screen and spinning circle thing and after about 1 min I hear each hard drive shut down and the system then turns off.
I tried holding down the shift key to boot into safe mode but it will not work.
Please help me get my system back up and running.

OK well that worked, I shut down the system, pushed disks 2 and 4 back into place, powered back on, logged in and everything looks as it should.
Well that wasn't too bad, now to get my external data backup in place, I have put that off for too long .

My iPod touch Nike ipod sensor is not working. Please help. I even walked around when it asked me to. Also I have latest version of iOS. PLease help

Update: I seem to have fixed the problem!  I went to the "summary" section of my iPod after clicking on the device on the left side of iTunes.  I checked the box that allowed me to "manually manage music and videos" and applied this option.  The songs are syncing!  And, yay, they're playing on my iPod now!  Hopefully, this helps anyone else who might have this problem.  There might be other issues, but this is working for now.

I've just updated my iPhone to the new iPhone OS and now it won't work and iTunes won't recognise that it's there.  I've uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled twice and it's not working.  Please help.

I have not had wifi since November when I upgraded to the newest IOS version.  I called the Apple help line and they told me some things to do and I tried them all and they worked for a few hours and then wifi shut off again.  I kept doing what they told me and it worked for a couple more days and then I could never turn it on again.  My blue tooth doesn't work either.  I had to actually increase my data usage with AT&T becuase of this.  When I did that in December I went to the Apple store and was told that it is a hardware issue and since my phone is out of warranty I would have to pay for a new phone because they could not fix the issue.  My upgrade isn't up until June 2014 so not only do I have to wait for the upgrade and I am not paying for a new phone but I have to pay $10 plus extra a month on my cell phone bill because I was going over on my Data!!!  I have been beyond upset about this and Apple is not doing anything about this nor did they offer up some way to resolve the issue because obviously it is not just some rare incident if several people are having this issue.  Who knows how many people out there have had this issue and have not said anything about it.  Now there is a newer update that I can't do because it requires wifi in order to download.
June can not get here fast enough and I may not go back to Iphone after dealing with this for so long with no help from Apple.

  • Ever since the last IOS update, my Iphone 5c has been acting weird. The time is always off; It says that its 9:30 in the morning when it's actually 2pm. I try to fix it, but it just goes back to not working. Please help!!

I go to settings and switch "Automatic time" off and then back on. It works for a while, but then just goes back to being off. I've tried manually setting the time, but it just goes back to what it was before. If I send a text, it sends and then disapears. I can't see what I wrote! I went in to Apple to try and get it fixed, but they just restored my phone. It's still not working. Please help!

It's not hacker or a virus. You are experiencing what a number of users of iOS 5 are experiencing now - sluggish or less than perfect iPad performance. It seems that for some of us - memory management has gotten a little out of whack with this most recent update. Some of the basic troubleshooting steps that you can try are ....
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Close apps in the recents tray. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
If you have Safari crashing issues - Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
None of these steps should be necessary as part of your daily routine - the iOS is supposed to handle all of this without any user input. Once again - for some of us - the iOS is letting us down.
Until Apple releases another update that resolves this issue for the "few" that suffer, keep these steps in mind and use them as needed.

I have had the same problem. It was cured by turning computer off and/or restarting it. I am not sure  if once was enough. I think shutting down must cut out whatever it is that blocks bluetooth. Good luck
