890GXM-G65 Bios Update Render Unlocked Phenom Locked

I have an "unlocked Phenom II X2 560", it was unlocked (Phenom II X4 B60) and running well for 3 month, but today after I update the bios to version 1.D, I missed my unlocked cores.
Why this is happening?
What I have to do to recover my unlocked cores?

I set the Unlocked feature of the BIOS with no result, I tried MSI utility "BIOS Code Unlocking Technology", I have enabled the unlocked CPU Core, but I only see 2 cores.

890GXM-G65 BIOS update failure

I just assembled a PC with the 890GXM-G65 motherboard, 4 GB Kingston DDR3-1333 memory (2x KVR1333D3N9/2G), Athlon II X2 245 processor, Nvidia 8500GT video card. BIOS revision was 1.6. Although I intended to do a clean Windows 7 x64 install later, initially and with only minor adjustments I was able to successfully boot from my HDD transplanted from my old PC with Windows 7 x86.
I decided to update to BIOS 1.7 because I built this system in an emergency and on a tight budget, hence the Athlon II X2 and the reused old video card and HDD, but I intend to upgrade to a Phenom II X6 and a better card soon, and I remembered having seen the information on MSI's Web site, on the processor compatibility list, that revision 1.7 was required to support hexa-core processors. Later I found that the information on that page had been corrected to a mere version 1.2, but by then it was too late.
I downloaded the ZIP file with the BIOS 1.7 update (7642v17.zip) from MSI's Web site and extracted it. I tried to run the executable (AFUD4310.EXE) from within a Windows 7 command prompt, but I saw a message that the program could not run in that OS. I tried to perform LiveUpdate from MSI's site, but apparently it wasn't compatible either (Windows 7 and IE 8), because nothing happened and it kept returning to the same screen, even though I had enabled all ActiveX options for MSI's site. Then I saved the BIOS binary (A7642AMS.170) to a FAT-formatted USB stick and tried M-Flash from BIOS.
The BIOS recognized the file but said there was a "ROM dismatch" (sic). I canceled it, rebooted, re-downloaded the file, calculated the MD5 hash for the BIOS binary both on my HDD and on the USB stick and they matched, which rules out any problem with the file copy process or the USB stick hardware. I repeated the M-Flash process and since I had double-checked that the ROM file was correct, I saved my old BIOS to the same USB stick and let the flashing proceed.
The BIOS flash process went normally through the end ("Erasing ROM," "Writing ROM," etc.), with the message that the PC would reboot after 5 seconds. Which, of course, it didn't. Other than the blue LEDs and the processor fan spinning, nothing happens. Not even the GPU fan spins, and the same video card still works perfectly in my old PC, which of course I had to re-assemble - I'm writing from it now and using the same video card. I tried everything, in desperation including resetting the BIOS jumpers and removing the battery, even though I knew that's for misconfigured BIOS parameters, not for a corrupted BIOS.
Now, you don't have to tell me that a BIOS upgrade is risky. I know it, and only did it because I thought I had a good reason - to make my new PC ready for the upgrade I intend to do soon. But first, I wouldn't have done it without the incorrect information that was on MSI's Web site. Second, one expects a BIOS update to go without problems if you have the correct binary ROM file from the motherboard's manufacturer and there are no power outages or other problems that interrupt the process. Both these requisites were met. Yet now my brand-new mobo (which I stressed my limited budget to get exactly because of the X6 support and new 890GX chipset) appears to be dead.
Do I have just an expensive paperweight and a considerable loss in my bank account, or is there still hope? Can anything still be done to save my motherboard? Thanks a lot for any possible help.

NF980-G65 bios update

hey guys i have a system that need a bios update and i can't get the system to boot usb so i setup a floppy boot disk and that all works... so i tryed the bios update with the flash protection on jest do see it as a dry run with little or no risk and well i can conferm my system is more unstable then boat... that system needs the bios update but i need it stable to do the update so i need some help getting it stable. the system is listed in this thead (top post) https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=140401.0.
i think it must be the ram being that it is intel tested and not AMD supported.

NF980-G65 BIOS Update Nightmare!!

There is ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSE for stupidity like this!!
Okay, I'm pretty sure someone or several people at MSI have their head up ass!
I have an AMD 1090T x6 going into a brand new board. The factory shipped bios is v1.2 which doesn't identify the CPU correctly. Trying to update to 1.4 and it cannot be done. I've tried the HP Utility on this board, the MSI Utility on the board as well as several other bios boot diskettes, CDs, and USB Boot tools and it just hangs.
For gosh sakes, send the boards out with 1.4.
I am on a deadline and instead of installing an operating system tonight, I spent the last 5 hour F#%@ing around trying to flash a bios so I can proceed with my install.
I am using the default dumbed down bios settings, I have one stick of ram in the system, and nothing helps or works! This is just plain retarded!!
The last time I went thru this a couple weeks ago, I ended up having to put an AMD 965 x4 into the board to flash from 1.2 to 1.4, then put in the x6 to carry on.
If ALL these companies were held accountable for the time people have to waste on their stupidity and mediocrity, this kind of crap wouldn't happen.
This kind of stupidity costs me money everyday!! Only I have to suck it up and eat the loss everytime this kind of braindead crap is encountered.
A solution would be nice but I bet I won't get one.

890GXM-G65 Bios Raid and install Windows 7 Fresh

latest bios installed it is "1.D"
one intel ssd that is 80GB
two OCZ ssd`s that are 60GB each
one older IDE dvd burner
i really hate IDE as many of you do im sure.
maybe some of you can help me with my problem.
what i would like to do is have all 4 sata ports used
1 sata port for dvd burner (that i would buy Again)
1 sata port for intel ssd
2 sata ports for ocz ssd`s that i would like to bios raid
i would then like to install windows 7 from the sata dvd burner (fresh install)
so the help i would need is the "exact" settings for the bios (raid, ahci, ide) and also what settings to use in the seperate raid bios setup area.
i tried to do this about a year ago and was not able to do it because the raid bios was acting weird when you would put the two ocz ssd in a raid0 then the sata dvd wouldnt work and even the sata intel ssd didnt work right
whenever the 4 sata ports are put in anything to do with raid (then anything you dont want to put in the raid (ex: sata burner or single intel ssd) dont work)
so if anyone can help on this i would be much appreciated.

In bios make sure you select ACHI for the sata port to which your ssd is wired.
Honestly, with the costs of everything coming down so much, I would sell the ssd's you have. Buy 1 256gb ssd for your os and frequently used programs / games etc and 1 500 gb hdd for movies music and the like. If you are stuck with what you have, use the 60gb ssd for the os, then research if trim works when used with windows raid. IE you go into disk manager and create a single logical drive from there. Then you would have a 2nd decently sized logical drive. If trim doesn't work even with windows raid, I would be back to selling 2 of the drives...

I read a post on the newegg site that this bios can be ugraded to an x6 compatabile version without a supported cpu? Can anyone clarify this? Is it true and if so what is the process?

As has been said, only if it boots with the X6.
What BIOS is on yours? Number on BIOS chip, last 3 digits BIOS version. Example: 120 would be v1.2

MSI 890GXM-G65 @ Core Unlocking

Hi guys, I'm new here in this forums.
I just want to ask for those who uses their MSI 890GX-G65 for core unlocking.
specs:
AMD Phenom II X2 555BE (4 cores stable)
MSI 890GXM-G65 bios @ 1.6
G.Skill Ripjaws 1600 CL7 (running @ 1333mhz 7-8-7-24 @1.6v)
MSI R5770 Hawk
OCZ ModXstream 600w
My issue is I've unlocked my processor and it's pretty stable, enable ACC. then boot OK.
after some hours of gaming, PC is shutdown. After a few hours, I opened it again and it boot again as X2 yet ACC is enabled.
I have to disable ACC reboot then enable ACC again to unlock it again to x4.
Another issue is OS loading, it's 4x longer in loading than the normal once, my basis in the OS Loading in my PC is after the logo of windows appear, caps,scroll,num lock leds will lit and the mouse then after that it should continue to login screen, but in my case after the lit ups, it hang for a minute(or longer) before continuing to the log in screen. i tried it with all stock no OC, regular OS loading only takes place after reformatting my Computer. after that it returns this kind of case.

I think it's stable enough, btw the x4 to x2 scenario is not always happening. but it has high chances the your next cold boot would you're on X2.
and i do Play games(2 hours minimum), do stress test(1 hour minimum then back to stock), and overclocking(only when gaming). and i think it's really stable.

XFX Radeon HD 5770 Compatible with 890GXM-G65?

Anyone have issues installing an XFX Radeon HD 5770 video card with the 890GXM-G65? Bought one and when I installed it, the fan was blowing but the card was extremely hot (smelled like something was melting). Also my monitor didn't recognize a signal so the screen was black. Returned that one, and although the second one was considerably cooler, nothing still appeared on screen. Is this a compatibility issue?

890gxm-g65 raid0 driver issue??

I recently built a new system and it has been up and running for a few months now and I decided to upgrade the boot drive to some ssds in a raid 0 configuration. I figured out how to setup the raid configuration in bios just fine with the pdf manual that is online, however when I attempt to install windows 7 ultimate 64bit sp1, it will not recognize the ATI_SB8xx_RAID_764_mb drivers. But for some reason it will recognize the 32bit raid drivers.
Here is my system setup:
msi 890gxm-g65 bios 1.8
amd phenomII x4 955 black edition
16 gb ddr3 g.skill ripjaws 1333 (PC3 10666)
SeaSonic X Series X650 Gold psu
wd green 750gb WD7500AARS (old boot drive, hopefully soon to be storage drive)
corsair force series sata 3 60 gb ssd CSSD-F60GB3-BK (x2 in raid 0)
I attempted to correct this issue by using F8 while windows 7 is booting to disable driver signature enforcement and received the same result. https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=139814.0
I attempted to find more update ahcix64s driver but there are none to be found (out of desperation I tried to use them anyway, I even tried to integrate them into the os disc using rt 7 lite). The 64 bit driver does seem to install fine in my current running windows 7 environment (on the 750gb wd drive), just not during installation with the raid 0 drives.
I read on a few other forums that with a different motherboard they had a similar issue with only the 32 bit drivers being recognized, and could install the 32 bit version of windows 7, which seems like a step backwards. In addition I found someone in the same boat who got around the issue by installing vista 64 bit, then upgrading, which I do not care to do.
I have not attempted to update or downgrade the bios version. (I wanted a second opinion before messing around with that, as I understand it can be unforgiving should something go wrong.). in addition opening a command prompt window during the os installation proces and entering bcdedit -set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS into command prompt in setup does nothing. when I attempted installation I have been unplugging the current boot drive. The first screen I am given after selecting the us / english / keyboard stuff and clicking the "install now" is the screen asking for drivers.
I know that windows must be recognizing the raid drives because I could continue installation but only if I use the 32 bit drivers and corresponding os version.

890GXM-G65 Ram issues

Hey guys, I know there are a lot of ram posts here already and many more on the web but I have spent the last 3 days reading them and trying to follow their guides and nothing has worked for me so I want to see if there is anyone that can help me for my specific problem....
Ok I built a new system with the 890GXM-G65 mobo and an AMD Phenom II X6 1055T processor. I am also installing a pair of G.Skill F3-12800CL7D-4GBRM memory sticks (I know these are designed for the Intel's but read many people using them for the AMD after changing the timings and loving the performance), I pulled my old 1TB hard drive out my other system to use in this one which already has Windows XP Pro installed.
My problem is that the pc reboots after the windows loading screen. I have tried changing the timings in the "Advanced DRAM Configuation" in the CMOS (7-7-7-24, 7-8-7-24, 8-8-8-24, 9-9-9-24) and not had any improvements, I have tried using the OC Genie Lite to auto find the correct settings, I have changed DRAM voltages (1.5-1.65) and NB Voltage (1.3-1.35) I also have changed the FSB/DRAM Ratio from 1:3.33 to 1:4 to change from 1333 to 1600 with no change as well.
I am able to log into Windows safe mode, in fact at first I thought it was a driver issue and loaded all the drivers in safe mode already.
Another issue I see and dont understand is in the "Memory-Z" in the CMOS I never see any of the memory settings change even though I set them in the Advance config, is this supposed to change?
Any help would be much appreciated, I am pretty sure its a memory issue from what I have seen on the web, I bought the memory from newegg.com and have a short time left that I could probably swap them out for something different if that is what I have to do, but I would really like to make these work.

Download and install memtest86+ on a usb drive and boot from that. Do a 24hr memory test to tell you if the ram+cpu is good or not.
After that if you don't want to mess with your original drive, install XP on a spare drive and see if it's stable.
I'm using G.Skill Ripjaws with my 1055t and it's been stable so far.

890GXM G65 Phenom II X6 BIOS query

Hi. I didn't get the required information from the sticky regarding thuban support for the above mentioned board, so I've created a new thread. I have a plan of buying AMD Phenom II X6 1055T processor and MSI 890GXM G65 board. The board at the time of release didn't have the support for thubans, so most probably I'd need to get a BIOS update for the installation of the thuban CPU. My question is, Will it boot with the thuban CPU even without the bios update? I'm asking this because I don't have an old AMD CPU to carry out the BIOS update process. If it doesn't boot, the it's a complete waste of money. Thanks in advance...

I was afraid of this combo but my results were fine. I bought the combo at Frys and it came with bios version 1.4 and booted and worked fine through windows, but it would not recognize cpu speed accurately after overclock( had nothing to do with amd cool feauture) After 1.6 bios update its recognized flawlessly. You shouldnt need to have another processor to do a bios update,it should still allow you to boot to bios.
