8GB RAM Dual Opteron 240 Problem

I have encoutered a serious problem with K8T Master2-FAR
Motherboard.
My system:
-   M/B: K8T Master2-FAR BIOS rev 1.10 and 1.31.
-   CPU: 2 x AMD Opteron 240 Processors
-   Memory: 4 x 2GB Transcend ECC DDR266 certified modules
-   Graphics Card: InnoVision GF4 MX440 w64MB onboard
-   Hard Disk Drive: Western Digital 800BB, 80GB, 7200rpm, IDE interface
-   Removable Drives: 1 x LG DVD-ROM drive 16x
-                                1 x LG CD-ROM drive 52x
-                                1x FDD Drive
-   Chasis: Chiftech Midle tower ATX form factor
-                      power supply i have tried
-                           Chiftech 360W (+3.3V - 28A, +5v - 35A, +12V 18A)
-                           Enermax 500W (don't have data for this)
-                           Supermicro 420W Xeon (+3.3V - 30A, +5V - 40A, +12V - 25A)
-   Keyboard: Genius PS/2
-   Mouse: Genius PS/2
-   Monitor: Samsung 753S
-   USB Devices: NONE.
-   SATA Devices: NONE
-  IDE Configuration:
-    Primary Master: HDD WD 800BB ATA100
-    Primary Slave: NONE
-    Secondary Master: LG DVD-ROM
-    Secondary Slave: LG CD-ROM
My problem is following:
I instaled Motherboard with 2 AMD Opteron 240 Procesor and 8GB (4 x 2GB of Transcend ECC DDR266 certified modules) With this configuration I have problem instaling and runing Operating system. I have tried Microsoft Windows XP 64Bit, SUSE Linux Professional 9.0 and Mandrake 10.0 both AMD64 Edition.
I expirience problem with IDE devices don't read or write well, network card don't even ping onother system, when CD is inserted in drive system freezes, when all 8GB of RAM are instaled.  This is also happening wik 1 processor and 8GB of RAM.
With 4GB of RAM all three operating systems are runing rock solid. I dubble checked all memory modules and they checked OK. Tried three diferent power supllies both 360, 420 and 500W (ATX 2.0 Specification, and Xeon). I tried
different configuration of IDE devices and verius partitionig types, but with all 8GB of RAM installed none of OS Instalation works. If I install OS with 4GB and add the rest of the momory latter Non of the programs could be started or they start showing strange behevior.
Any help or comments would be highly appritiated.
Mario.

Lates Update:
Finely Found SSI power supply :-)
Didn't help :-(
I am runing out of ideas :-(
- Tested RAM over the weekend 68 hours and no error detected.
- Changed Video card, HDD, CD-Rom
- Tried every posible combination of BIOS parametars
- Puting in and out processors
- Changing memory voltage
- Power on in and out of the case
- Tried to contact (SUSE, MSI, Transcend) - some luck here ;-)
System still unbootable.
And now some good news.
Guy from Transcend answered me promptly. They will try to recreate my problem and give me some feedback.
Found and installed MSI K8D Master-F MB, and i have system intalles and boot (SUSE in fail safe mode). I will figure it out how to make it work correctly i hope.
I would like if i could finaly get some respond from MSI. Or anyone who tryed 8GB combination.
I let you know if something new come up.
Thank You for Your replays.
Best regards
Mario.

My HP Pavilion p6240f desktop has two on board monitor conections. VGA and DVI. Can I connect two monitors to my computer? My operating system is windows 8. Only my VGA monitor is working. Only one monitor shows up in Device Manager.I also tried using detect in display settings. Please help

    dighaysus,
Yes, your HP Pavilion p6240f Desktop Computer can support two monitors at the same time. One monitor must accept a VGA analog signal and the other monitor must accept a DVI-D (HDMI with adapter) digital signal.
Please provide the brand and models of the two monitors, so we can determine if you have a supported configuration.

  • HT1529 Upgrade to 8GB RAM & an SSD OR purchase New MacBook Pro?

I am looking at upgrading my older mid-2009 2,53 Mhz MacBook Pro to 8GB RAM PLUS a 240GB SSD for around $380. Is it worth doing this or biting the bullet and purchasing a new MBP...lots more expensive. I am not a professional graphics or photographer but have PS6 and LR5 installed and only 4GB RAM....very, very slow. I like doing photo editing etc. Any advice is very much appreciated. Thanks

First I suggest that you go through this comprehensive trouble shooting document and see if you can optimize the performance of your MBP as is is currently configured.  The monetary outlay will be zero.
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3521
If you look at the Crucial web site, you should be able to install 8GB RAM and a 240 GB SSD for $282.
    http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=MacBook Pro (15-inch%2C Mid 2009)&Cat=RAM
Personally, I would install the RAM first and see if that makes a meaningful difference.  Install the SSD only as a last resort.  I have an antipathy towards SSDs based mainly on cost.  Others have different opinions.
Also update your OS to 10.6.8.
Do not be seduced by quad core CPUs.  They will perform faster only if the application is designed to take advantage of all cores.  Most applications are not (at least the older ones).
    Ciao.

  • 13'' dual-core with 16gb ram vs 15'' quad-core 8gb ram -- ram vs cores?

    Hello.  I am at a point between choosing a 13'' dual-core i5 with 16gb ram vs the 15'' quad-core with 8gb ram - both retinas.
I will be using photoshop and illustrator while uploading/downloading large files constantly.  After much headscratching I almost decided on the 13'' i5 because from my experience, RAM limitations is where I usually run into problems, and don't see the extra price of i7 worth it when it is still a dual-core.  For the same price I can get a 15'' quad, but will be stuck with 8gb ram.
I don't care about the screen size, I have good eyes and the weigth trade-off makes this a non-issue.
I'm thinking about down the road, as either of these I'm sure will be fine solutions.  I'm just wondering where does the edge really come in this case?  Ram or processor / cores?
    Thanks.

Thanks for your reply tjk, of course with 16gb on the 15'' for $200 more  I'd have easier time, but in this case I am comparing a refurbished - the lowest 15'' 16gb I could find would cost $500 more, I just can't do it.
I should make clear that this particular comparison between 13''w/16 and 15''w/8, they are the same price (the 13 being new) - which is why I'm stuck.
To rephrase - for the same price - which will I regret less in 4 years?
As a side note, I can't believe I'm even thinking about paying this much money for something that is not upgradeable, but that's another discussion entirely.

  • Problems deploying Windows 7 x64 computers with more than 8GB RAM

    SCCM 2012 R2 CU1
    Windows 7 x64
We have a weird problem after upgrading from SP1 to R2 CU1. We have built a Windows 7 64 bit image with the latest updates (currently September 2014 updates). It deploys fine to all computers. But after some days – don’t know exactly – guess after 4-7 days
    - we start getting errors on computers with more than 8 GB of RAM. The errors just start out of the blue. We didn't change TS, image or driver package.
The error shows in 3 different ways – depending of the computer model.
    1) BSOD – STOP 0x000000F4. Disk error.
    2) Task Sequence error 0x87D00269 when installing the first Application in TS. The error seems to have something to do with Management Point not found.
    3) Task Sequence simply stops after installing CMclient. No errors - it simply stops.
For instance we get the BSOD on the Lenovo ThinkCentre M93p. But on the ThinkCentre M83 we get the TS error 0x87D00269. M93p and M83 uses the same driver package. They consequently  fail every time after the error has begun. If we reduce (remove physically)
the memory to max. 8GB of RAM, they successfully run the Task Sequence.  We get the above errors on both Lenovo and HP machines with more than 8GB.
I made a copy of the production TS and started testing. I created a new driver package for M93p/M83. It contains only the NIC drivers. Now M93p an M83 successfully finishes the TS. Adding sata or chipset or MEI/SOL drivers to the package I get the 0x87D00269
error on both m93p and M83. At least not the BSOD on the M93p ;-)
Tried setting  SMSTSMPListRequestTimeout to 180 in the TS. Also tried putting in a 5 minute break before installing the first Application in the TS. Also tried putting in SMSMP=mp1.mydomain in the installation properties for the CMclient. It is still
    the same problem.

    you have not previously used.
Hopefully this is a bug in translating the errorcodes? Just to be sure I checked all the SCCM serviceaccounts and none of them have expired passwords.  And again why only on computers with more than 8GB RAM.
Anyone else had problems rolling computers with more than 8GB og RAM?
Why does this happens after a few days? To begin with, it runs just perfect and then starts failing on all machines with more than 8GB. Without a change in TS, image and driverpackage. We have seen this pattern for the last 3 month after
updating our image with the latest Windows Updates. It all started after updating from SP1 to R2 CU1.
Why does it only affect machines with more than 8GB RAM?
How to get rid of the 0x87D00269 error?
Seems to be somehow related to driver installation mechanism in SCCM in combination with Windows 7 64 bit, +8GB RAM and SCCM 2012 R2 CU1 or perhaps just R2.
Any help or hints would be appreciated!
    Thanks
    Anders

We have the same workaround, using a x64 boot image resolved all our issues with WinPE 5.0.
    Machines with >4GB of RAM
Lenovo ThinkPad T540p failed applying drivers with 80040005
    Black screen/white cursor issues intermittently
No updates from Microsoft, they are still looking through the logs, but we have updated our boot images and all is well now. Our case it still open with Microsoft, they are researching the logs.

I have a 2009 Macbook Pro with 1T hdd 8GB Ram and ran Maverick without problem...Yosemite installation has me completely frozen, nothing works but the spinning ball...I had to force shutdown last night, and haven't turned it on again...what do you advise?  During installation emptied cache, etc. Backed up using time machine, fortunately.

Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
    1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
        b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    4. Reinstall Yosemite: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall OS X from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.
    5. Reinstall Yosemite from Scratch:
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
How to Clean Install OS X Yosemite
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.

and in system report >> hardware >> Graphics/Display >> it shows both grafics card listed.

Some Mac's when the RAM is increased the Intel HD 3000 integrated graphics will bump itself up to the higher video RAM it takes, this seems to be what occured.
It also means the dedicated graphics card will be used less, but only so slightly less.
You obviously still should have both, you can test this by turning off Graphics Switching in Energy Saver, that will use the decicated AMD card all the time.
You can also run Cinebench and compare the scores here

  • 8gb ram problem

i have a 15 inch macbook pro from 2010. i have bootcamp with windows 7 installed, with 8gb ram. the total physical memory however is only 2gb, with the available memory only being 1.3gb. why is this? i have 8gb installed.. why isnt it more? i used to have 4gb ram installed and the same available memory was the same as it is now...why is this??

If you have 32-bit Windows, only about 3.5 GB can be addressed.
64-bit Windows 7 Home addresses 16 GB RAM.
64-bit Windows 7 Pro addresses 192 GB RAM.
That should read 4GB is the maximum that will be addressed, this will be reduced by all set-asides for Graphics etc as they must be below the 4G limit.
64 bit is the way to go.

  • Upgraded 2012 MACBOOK PRO 2.6Ghz 8GB RAM 750 GB an alternate for RETINA MBP 15 or NOT?How good is its potential, reliability ?

I am a student and an aspiring filmmaker.I am also into digital cinematography (Canon 550D) and now will be venturing into editing. I am in DIRE NEED of help
I have a few problems regarding the purchase of Macbook pro.I live in Kolkata(India).I have been waiting for the past 1 and a half years to buy a Mac but after the release of Retina Macbook pro 15.I am left confused. Its near unupgradability and unreparibility rumors, delayed delivery, and 1st generation hardware issues especially the lack of Optical drive made me reconsider my decision of buying one.
I want to know whether I can go for the top model of Non Retina - 2.6Ghz 8GB RAM 750 GB 1 GB Nvidea as an alternate choice for Retina MBP pro or NOT ?
1.I wanted to buy the Retina Base model. Though it is very recently launched and there is a big risk buying it because they say it is unrepairable and unfixable as 'everything is glued into the motherboard' dialogue scares me. Something goes wrong after purchase and they send it back to US, is what the Apple officials said. Moreover they don’t keep one on a demo at Apple stores in kolkata. I have searched almost everywhere and have been to many resellers in my city but no use.
NOW,I am very sceptical about custom ordering a Macbook 15 non retina with High-Res 1680X1050p from US.I don’t know how much custom duty or expenses I have to pay and is it safe or not. Time is also a factor. Sadly, I have to buy one in Kolkata (my city) it seems.
    2. I am opting for Macbook Pro 15,2.6 Ghz,8GB RAM. Buying it for the sole purpose of editing(audio, video, photos).I need something which is fast along with a good screen size. My original decision was to buy the 17inch but after the launch of Retina and the upgraded 15 inch, I am only looking forward to the upgraded models. Many say 13 inch is fast, but it features a dual core with a maximum of 2.9Ghz clockspeed. I on the other hand want a quad core i7 with good upgradability options and a good screen size. The 13 inch may be a favorite for many, but I want nothing less than a 15 inch. One good option I get with non Retina 15 is its upgradability, while many say Retina MBP 15 can be made upgradable in future but that time is yet to come and by the time the whole web becomes ‘retina friendly’ and all applications supporting its 2880X1800 resolution, I may end up waiting only. Yes the picture quality remains unbeatable when compared to Retina Pro and it will always be. Though friends, I am a student, I want something which is fast, can run almost anything and future dependable. Retina Mac book Pro in India is 2799 USD - Base model. I cannot pay that amount just for the screen. As far as speed is concerned, I plan to get an OWC SSD and a 16 GB OWC RAM in the future resulting in greater speed when comparing the configuration with Retina 15.That problem is solved.
My problem here is this: The web is filled with reviews and videos of Retina Macbook Pro and the upgraded Macbook Pro 15 is just no where, if you even find a few videos, they only feature unboxing videos of Macbook pro 15 (i7-2.3Ghz-4GB-500GB-500MB Nvidea).Other videos compare the 2.3ghz model with Retina 15 pro. They are not elaborate like the 15 Retina Pro reviews.
    1. I want to know about the real performance, potential, pros, cons of Macbook Pro 15 (i7 2.6Ghz 8GB RAM 750 GB 1GB Nvidea graphics).
So my question to you is what is your opinion on the 15 inch non retina ? HOW FAST do you think is the new upgraded 15inch non retina i7-2.6Ghz-8GB-750GB model really is ?I have read on many mac forums and seen on a particular youtube video that 15inch 2.3Ghz model takes an alarming 40 seconds to start because of traditional hard drive ! A normal DELL Inspiron starts at 15 secs max with i3+4 GB RAM and this particularly confuses me about the whole quad core processing and stuff and speed when running applications like C6,FCP,Lightroom etc is to be determined in regard to the model I want to buy.
    2. Is it necessary to buy APPLE CARE WARRANTY when buying a laptop from Apple. What are the benefits and how is it different form the normal customer care ?
    3. Please enlighten me on some nice headphones from Sennheizer under 90 USD.I am considering Sennheiser HD 439.I am not a bass freak and I want something to use for listening to voice, loud clear. In short, a headphone for all purpose. I heard the HD 449 is not that good compared to HD 439.They say it is Jazz oriented. Another confusion  !
Finally, If you know anyone who knows about this configuration (15inch 2.6 8GB RAM 750GB) and its performance than please help me out my friends. Any small detail, input, you feel like please let me know. Please help me be sure and satisfied am buying my Macbook Pro very soon and I am awaiting your response.

Well, are you talking about a 750 Hard Drive or SSD?  If SSD (quite expensive) it will certainly be as fast.  One option is to get the smallest HD they have and with the Non Retina you can upgrade the HD to an SSD later or now but save a little money.  Check with iFixit or OWC for instructions.  HD's do take longer to start up and load, but once open, the processor and video work just the same as on the Retina model.  The SSD speed is nice, but really not critical.  So you have to wait a minute for your computer to boot up.  The other big question is you need to find out if the non-retina model will take 16GB of ram.  According to OWC's site, it will, 16GB for 150USD.  Once you get programs open and resident in ram, everything will fly.

    A. Is it necessary to buy APPLE CARE WARRANTY when buying a laptop from Apple. What are the benefits and how is it different form the normal customer care ?

  • I have a Black Macbook 4,1, penryn 2.4GHz, snow leopard 10.6.7 with 8GB Ram

Yes 8GB Ram. It all goes great until it enters in screensaver or sleep mode (i can't detect) or else i try to run some virtual machines (it doesn't matter if it's virtualbox, fusion or paralles). The van start get all crazy like the computer it's about to lift off and them the operating system freezes. How i resolve this? I know that it's related to the RAM but i would like to know why. Why the system recognizes the RAM and boots and works with it and them "oh my god i have 8GB.No way.Let do something to freeze up! Hammer time! Can't touch this!"
Another note. A friend of mine who is a developer as Mac OS X Lion on a external disk and we boot my macbook with. So far so good, nothing to report, but i didn't try yet with virtual machines. I need some kind of tool or expertie to analize my problem can somebody help me?

My apologies for forgeting to tell this part of my experiences. It all started in Mac OS X Leopard with 2GB and this is the evolution until now:
    .Mac OS X Leopard - RAM:2GB
    .Mac OS X Leopard - RAM:4GB
    .Mac OS X Snow Leopard - RAM:4GB
    .Mac OS X Snow Leopard - RAM:6GB (4GB + 2GB)
so far, so good, with 1 hdd, with 2 hdd, with RAID0 stripe, with RAID0 stripe + USB boot, with RAID0 stripe + Firewire boot, you named i tried it. Them the ultimate upgrade:
.Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.5 - RAM:8GB (4GB + 4GB) After an undetermined time "Oh dam!!!Ups there it go!!"
    .Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.6 - RAM:8GB (4GB + 4GB) "Hummm!!!So far so good!!" - what changed?
    .Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.7 - RAM:8GB (4GB + 4GB) "Hummm!!!So far so good!!...and ... little dam!!!" - what changed?
And them ladies and gentlemen the King of the Jungle:
.Mac OS X Lion Dev Prev 2 booting from firewire - RAM:8GB (4GB + 4GB) - life is good. What changed?
See, my point! I know something is fishy around here! I know that some configuration are theoretical not supported, but i want to find out why.
JoeyR says is the hardware, but wich piece? The graphics? And even so it's not the function os the bios/efi to allocate the memory to the hardware? Does the hardware has some limitation to access more memory than 6GB? Why is that? Isn't the bus of my computer a 64 bit like the CPU? Even if it is 32 bit the limit would be 4GB (2^32). How it can access 6GB and does complain?
Just to remenber i have a Macbook Black verson 4,1, CPU Penryn T8300 (Dual 2 Core) 2.4GHz with a GPU Intel X3100 (which *****!).
Now, with all that can somebody tell me of a tool or method that i can use to analize this stuff and find it out who provokes the crash/freeze/"oh dam!"?

  • [Opteron] Dual Opteron nForce 3 250 Ultra board?

    Hi
Does anyone know when we can expect a dual opteron nForce3 250 Ultra board from MSI?
Looks like iWill is the first one out of the gate with such a board.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Paul,
I think that there will be no problems - if you include a good PSU in the set up.
I would recommend to see what BIOS there is coming with the board - 1.9 or higher will recognise the X2 CPUs. If not strictly necessary, I would advice against flashing the BIOS of this board, unless - of course - you encounter specific problems. In that case I would flash an official BIOS (1.B) and not a beta, or modded BIOS.
At present the 4800 X2 is still quite expensive; the 4400 X2 is much better from a price/performance point-of-view ...
As far as RAM is concerned: why would you want to run 4GB of RAM? For normal programs/games, 1GB is more than sufficient and only with some of the newest games a noticeable increase in performance can be seen when 2GB is used in stead of 1GB. It is hard to imagine that adding 2 GB more will lead to an increase in performance. Instead it must be expected that you will loose performance (because of dropping to 333MHz, looser timings, etc.). I therefore recommend to go for 2GB of good quality RAM.
    Hope this helps,
    Hans

  • K8T Master 2 FAR dual Opteron 250 Vista 64bit BIOS 1.4 only 1 CPU show!!! Help!!

    Hi,
I am new to this forum but had been working on this problems for a week!
    Here my system:
    MSI K8t Master 2 FAR
    ECC ram 2GB
Dual Opteron 250 replaced the dual Opteron 242 one week ago
    BIOS upgrade to 1.4
Window Vista 64bit from Window XP Pro
The POST, Device Manager detect two new CPUs. However, there are only one CPU being utilize in task manager (yes, I have check one graph per CPU). It appear from the forum that BIOS 1.35B5? would work but I could not find it. Try to install Window XP Pro but failed (flopppy drive does not work).
Any help and suggestion would be greatly appreciated!

Does it worked before to update BIOS to 1.4?

With BIOS 1.1 and dual Opteron 242, I have both CPU work as shown by Device manager and task manager (two CPU graphs). I can only get one CPU work since I upgrade to Opteron 250 and BIOS 1.4. Unfortunately BIOS 1.1 do not support Opteron 250.

I tried. More stable then 1.47, but not fully workable. Second CPU dont work, Smart fan dont work, if 4Gb installed -> CPU kernel time load 60-70% permanently. Last stable workable release is 1.35, but i have slow down if install LSI 21320R.
1.35 appear to be last stable version reported by users

  • My Macbook Pro 2014 ran out of battery while mid-slideshow. Now the slideshow won't skip through photos and I can't figure out why? Macbook Pro 2014 13-inch Intel i5 8GB RAM 128GB flash, iPhoto library is on external HDD

    Macbook Pro 2014
    13-inch
    Intel i5
    8GB RAM
    128GB flash SSD,
    Integrated Graphics
iPhoto library is on external HDD
I was in a slideshow, with around 1,911 photos in it. About halfway through, my Macbook ran out of battery. Now when I restarted and charged the Macbook and reopened iPhoto, the slideshow won't advance through photos, and I can't figure out any reason why it would do this.
I thought it may be corrupted, so I deleted and reinstalled iPhoto library, iPhoto itself, and disconnected and reconnected my external HDD.
This didn't work, the photos still won't advance.
I don't know any reason why this would be happening, and there is ample space on my internal drive.
I'm happy to provide more information if needed!
    Many Thanks,
    James

Make a few tests, James, to narrow down the problem and find out, if the slideshow is corrupted, your iPhoto Library, or settings in your account.
To test, if only your slideshow has a problem, create a new slideshow, just for testing. Just use "File > New Slideshow" and add a few photos. Does this slideshow play correctly?
If the test slideshow does not play either, create a new iPhoto Library. Use the File menu in iPhoto: File > Switch to library > Create New. Import a few photos and create a slideshow.  Does it play?
If even a new library does not solve the problem, test in a different user account (see this document:  Isolating an issue by using another user account - Apple Support):
This process involves creating a new user account, logging in to it, and testing for the issue.
Create a new standard or admin user account in Users & Groups preferences.
Use these instructions for OS X Mavericks.
See these instructions for OS X Mountain Lion.
See this video, or these instructions for OS X Lion.
Optional: If you have any specific files you wish to test with, copy (don't move) those items to the /Users/Shared folder in the Finder.
Log out of your current user account by choosing Log Out from the Apple () menu.
Log in with the new account you created.
Attempt to reproduce the issue you were seeing in your regular user account.
After you have completed testing, log out of the test account by choosing Log Out from the Apple () menu.
Log in as your regular account.
After you have completed all testing with the test user account, you may want to delete it. You can delete an account in the Users & Groups pane of System Preferences.
Note: Prior to deleting a test account, make sure you are completely done with it. If you have files in the Guest User you wish to keep, you should copy them to the /Users/Shared folder .
If you should find, that slideshows only play in a new user account, post back.
