8GB Zen V Pl

Hey. I have the 2GB Zen V, and for my first mp3 player, it's more amazing than anything else i could've gotten. I've have a few freezes, but none since i upgraded to the latest firmware. I just had a question about the newest one, the 8GB Zen V Plus. I see that it's only available in Singapore right now, but will it ever come out anywhere else, such as Canada? I did see it on the Australian site, but it's been pulled off. And if it's not being released anywhere else, is there any way I can purchase it and have it sent here through?other means than the company directly? I just want to know if there's any way to upgrade from my 2GB in the future.

well i remember before the Zen v was released in the U.S. there were a bunch of Zen Vs from Singapore that were on sale on eBay, i haven't seen any 8gb versions on eBay yet, but eBay is pretty much the best bet, i haven't come across any Singapore based e-retailers.

I need help , 8GB ZEN has 'Firmware Problem' mess

Hi there I'm from Singapore & I bought a 8GB ZEN from West Mall's Harvey Norman last Oct .
Eariler on , I realised that my ZEN has a 'Firmware Problem' message displayed on the screen . I try as might to reset the player countless times but no matter what , the message still appears & to make things worst I tried to call the customer/techincal support hotlines but they're closed for the day :S
I don't know what happened , it was still working fine this morning when I brought it to Uni . Does anyone know how to solve this problem ?

If you get the firmware error, you can go into the Recovery mode by holding down the Play/Pause button while turning on the unit. Then do a 'Reload Firmware'. This will clear the firmware. Download and run the Firmware update from the Creative website for the Zen. This should reaload the firmware with the latest version.
If that fails, just bring the Zen and the receipt down to the Creative service centre and they will take care of it.

Can I use the battery from 4gb Zen Micro Photo in the 8gb Zen Micro Pho

Can I use the 3.7V Li-ion Polymer Battery 680mAh in my 8gb Zen Microphoto? The 8gb came with a 3.7V Lithium Ion Battery 830mAh.

The mAh is a measure of a battery's total capacity. The higher the number (ex. 600 mAh, ,500 mAh) the more charge the battery can hold and usually, the longer a battery will last under a certain load. If you're going to use a lower mAh battery, you will get shorter playback time.

8GB Zen Microphoto won't char

Hope u can help me!!?My 8GB Zen Microphoto will charge fine when i connect it to my computer, but i've bought a generic wall charger and when i plug it in, the player recognises it and the battery icon will flash that it's charging, but then i come back to it the next day and it's still at the same battery level!?Is it a problem with the mp3 player?What can i do?!!please help!?

Ive read everything I can... Possible simple question... 8GB ZEN

So i got my 8GB ZEN (complete with white screen bug) yesterday... Finally got it working, but when I select an album, and play the first song it works just fine. If I want to skip to the next song within that album (track 2) it skips around on the album to random tracks. What am I doing wrong??It does this on all the albums I have...

Hi,?Looks like we've been very unlucky!?I'm sending my zen?back to?assistance?on monday, I'm going to stay another month whitout my music... it's ther third time!?Needless to say I'm really done with creative, my next buy will be a Cowon IAudio, it looks?to me very?well built and realible,?and it doesn't need?the messy MTP driver, you know? The one that if something goes wrong while the transfering need you to format everithing.... Cowon is just like an external storage: something goes wrong while uploading? It gonna prompt some message and that's all, no?messy math to ensure the MTP compliance,?one just put the music on and start listening. No Display 8GB Zen

I have a three month old Zen that I've been happy with until this morning. When I switched it on the screen remained black - no flicker or signs of life at all. I thought it was dead but noticed the blue light. The battery's fully charged and the pc recognises it when connected. I've tried rebooting and have upgraded the firmware but still zilch. I purchased the player in UK but I'm using it in Thailand. A forum search hasn't helped. Any suggestions?

This is certainly a hardware problem. Turn it on and try tapping on the screen. Might work, but you'll probably have to send it in.
Contact email or phone tech support to get a RMA code and instructions for returning it for warranty repairs.

8GB Zen MicroPhoto wo

Okay, so I don't know the exact problem with my Zen, so here's my story. A couple months ago, my Zen was messing up and would not turn on, it just froze at the Creative logo and started making the clicking noise. I talked with Creative for a while about it, and they then agreed to replace my Zen. The "like-new" MicroPhoto I recieved seemed perfect, but I then started to face problems with uploading songs onto it using WMP 0. Everytime I do try to upload songs, the player consistantley freezes after about the 2nd CD and doesn't do anything. The blue glowing light around the screen even fails to glow and dim. After calling Creative to see what the problem was, I thought I had the problem fixed, but the same problem just went on the next day, and I really don't want to spend another $3 just to get no results. I'm starting to get really frustrated with Creative and I ocassionally just want to throw my MicroPhoto against a wall. Has anyone ever had a similar problem? And are they any suggestions? Anything would be of great help at this point. Thank you!

How I wish that Creative would let us know their plans for release of 8GB V Plus outside Singapore and specifically in Australia. I don't want to buy a 4GB version and then find if I waited a little while the 8GB would have been available. Maybe they don't plan to release it here at all. I just wish they would tell us.

Is the 8gb Zen V Plus ever going to be released in Europe/Americ

Hi, people.
I really want to buy the new Zen V Plus, but the only downside is that 4 GB players that are available worldwide are way too small in terms of capacity.
The 8 GB version would be more suitable, but they only sell it in Singapore, which doesn't really make sense to me (but, hey, that's just me).
So, I was wondering, if anyone here knew anything about the 8 GB European/American release? Is it ever going to be released? If yes, then when?

No probs, we all have our gripes. I don't think Apple was in any way dishonest about the intel version. Heck they even 'lifted their kimono' for 1.1 at PMA and we all got to hear how much improved 1.1 should be. Lets be glad the company is listening and quickly getting good solutions to the first release issues. Many companies either do not listen or take 3 times as long to fix.
As for the intel transition, i can't get steamed-up about it at all. I will be getting a MacBookPro soon so i'm listening to the forums and reviews. The engineering effort to do what they have done in the transition and with Rosetta has been very very smooth. And they are 6 months ahead of original plans ! Time will tell how FCP et al work out.
Once Aperture 1.1 is released and you've played with it, please post your comments as i'm keen to sense how it runs on intel.

8Gb Zen problem

Hi all, I've a bit of an issue with my Zen player and I can't seem to solve it. Here's the problem:
Background:
I updated to the latest firmware earlier today, v.2.03 (this morning in fact) from my work xp machine. I have no music at work on the pc so there is no syncronisation with windows media or anything, i connected it to charge (it was recognised as a device and everything) and listened away with no problems. Now, at lunch time i came home and decided to put some more music on it, this i did via the explorer interface with no problems (I have a Visa 64 machine at home), and shut down the machine once the updating had occured (or so I thought).
Literally a split second before i unplugged the USB cable i saw the screen on the Zen flash up and say updating, unfortunately i wasn't able to stop myself and this is where the problems began.
The problem:
Now when I switch on the player, the creative logo flashes up, the zen screen comes on then it rebuilds itself. Once it has finished rebuilding, the Zen logo flashes up for a split second then the screen goes blank and I'm unable to do anything, it is still on (the blue light under the on switch is lit) but i cannot turn it off or operate any buttons, the only way i can turn it off is by hitting the reset button. This happens everytime I switch it on.
Plus, both pc's do not recognise the player when it is in this state.
What i've tried:
I've booted into the reset menu, tried the clean up, the format and the reinstall of the firmware - nothing seems to work. I have used the recovery tool to try and update the firmware (or at least reinstall it) and the update fails - every time. I've searched around and tried pretty much all the solutions I can find, I also cannot roll back to an earlier version of the firmware as when i try the standalone firmware install, the installer doesn't recognise that the player is connected.
Help!? Any ideas? Is there a magic format button that will take it back to its original state so I can start again? Is it totally screwed?
Any help you can give me will be appreciated.

This doesn't look good. Looks like you already did all the troubleshooting steps that I could think of. I'm afraid your player is already faulty. I suggest getting in touch with support for further assistance.

New 8gb zen butt

are there meant to be backlights?i was using it in the dark (lol) and the buttons dont light up... help :-)

CREATIVE ZEN 8GB LCD AND BUTT

Since dec 07, regardless of firmware, my 8gb zen lcd randomly lights up for half a second and goes off. Same happens when i plug in headphones. Got a silicon skin and pushing buttons is even more annoying. Need to have separate buttons or Meizu style touch controls. Seriously considering switching to other brands with rockbox support.

Despite the rather trollish ending to the thread I'll assume you are looking for useful answers.
The behavior you describe as lighting up for a half second is normal, that is the player going from sleep mode to full shutdown after being left idle for some time following the automatic switch from idle to sleep, basically to summarize power states:
) Player On (full usage and video playback)
2) Idle/Audio Play (screen dims to conserve power while playing audio, after the specified time passed with no input or play activity the system will step down to sleep mode)
3) Sleep Mode (the player enters a hibernate mode, reducing power use to minimum, turning the player on again will take just a brief moment as memory is still acti've)
4) Full Shutdown (the player shuts down completely and cuts battery consumption off - a brief flash of the screen may be noticed as this power state change takes effect. Turning the unit back on will require a longer cold startup).
5) Warmup (prepares the ZEN for use when you plug in a headset/speaker... it assumes it is most likely going to be used shortly and initializes the system so the user won't have to wait as long to start using it, this also activates the FM antenna flag).
As for the controls I personally like them the way they are - they are intuiti've and easy to use with a nice firm tactile sense to them. I hate that touch crap, never liked touch pads either.

Zen 8GB absolutely d

I get 8gb zen for christmas. When i tried to first time connect with computer, then it wasn't doing anything. I read papers and the decided to wait 4 hours. It wasn't working then also. I found somewhere in this forum tutorial. So i reseted player and then pressed play+on/off and so i get player working. So it worked 2 weeks and 2 loading times. I think that player's battery got empty, but i'm not sure in it. And then on my zen doesn't turn on. I have tried to load it on 2 different computers. I have upgraded my software( windows media player), reinstalled zen media explorer and i don't get my player working. On one computer there is something in device manager( showing error), but on other computer there isn't anything that can show connection between player and computer. What can i do about it's Is there any chance to get it working?Thank you!

I have 3 usb cables non of them works. I have zen nano plus also and this is working fine. Nano plus?is very good player. But with it i'm having so much problems. I have now time to check this first reccomendation.

Zen and 8gb SDHC C

I have a 8gb ZEN with a 8gb SDHC card. I can see the card within the zen if I go to 'Memory Card' within the zen menu. However, I can not see it via windows explorer to drag and drop films/music on it or I can not see a way of how to copy things onto from within the ZEN either?Please help

That's how it works, unfortunately. If you have the latest firmware you can put the player into card reader mode and access the card but not the player with Windows. If you don't put it in that mode you can only access the player with Windows. With earlier firmwares you have to put the data on the card some other way. Barry?
