8i db config assistant alerts

While "Adding Oracle interMedia" I recieved many alerts similar
to this one.
MGR-01507:Unable to open file
/u01/app/oracle/product/8.1.5/ord/aud/admin/ordanots.sql
Perhaps I missed something on the install? dbassist failed to
launch after the install with a error. Something about bad or
missing argument.
I started dbassist manually.

I do not understand very well what you mean but I guess what you are meaning. If you have troubles with the stage where the dbca is requesting you the password. do this:
1.- There 2 buttons on that screen ( Exit and the another one ), press the another one
2.- It is going to appear another screen, close it
3.- Enter the password for system and sys and that's it.
If I misunderstood you, please explain better what is your case.

Database Config Assistant - Oracle 9.2 on Linux

I installed Oracle 9.2.0.1.0 on Red Hat Linux v8.
When I try to use the Database Config Assistent to create a database, I get an ora-27123, "unable to attach to shared memory", error.
This occurs in the 3rd step of database creation,
Copying database files
Initializing database
Creating and starting Oracle Instance
I can create a database manually - using hand written scripts.
If I forget to define and export ORACLE_SID, I get
the same problem when I try to startup a database.
1. does the DBCA work correctly in Oracle 9.2.0.1.0
on Linux?
2. if so, how do I get it to work ok?

I have got Oracle 9.0.1 installed on win xp in C drive and 6i patch 15 installed in D drive..My window xp in on D drive.....
So after installation of LINUX will I be able to install another Oracle 9.2 database if yes..Which Drive ( C or D) should I install ? or its better to keep only on Oracle database version...

DB Config Assistant Problem post install

I have downloaded Oracle 8i Personal Ed from Oracle Technet. I have gotten almost to the end of installation onto Win2K Professional. It has successfully configured Net8 Config Assistant and OMS NT Service, but the Oracle DB Config Assistant configuration fails. The dbSilentCreate.log file only says the following :
8i is an invalid command line argument.
Can you help me out please.

can you be a bit more specific about which parameters you need help with?
defaults are (to my understanding):
Listener port number: 1521
Database SID: $ORACLE_SID
Service name: $ORACLE_SID
Email address for notification: [email protected], if left null no emails are sent
Email gateway for notification: localhost (if you have sentmail or postfix installed and configured)
Password for dbsnmp: secret?
Password for sysman: secret?
Password for sys: secret?
This should help you.

Oracle Net config assistant not opening on windows.

Hi,
I installed Oracle 9i server on a windows XP machine on Friday, 2nd December. I configured the listener service, netconfig name and my application was up and running.
Today I wanted to make some changes in the listener service; but the net config assistant window is not coming up. New processes launch.exe and jrew.exe are starting in the background with each attempt to launch.
I made sure I am logged in as the same user which installed Oracle on the machine(having ORA_DBA privilages), gave the full control privilages to this user. But the net config assistant is still not opening up.
Could anyone help in this regard.

9iAS Install: Config Assistant, Randomize Password Failing

Am installing 9iAS Rel 2, on a windows 2000 SP 2.
The hardware is as P3 Xeon with 4 CPU's and 3 Gig of Ram.
Install is failing on multiple config assistants but the first one to fail is the Randomize password. The error on the screen says, "oracle.ias.repository.schema.SchemaException: Cannot connect to this database".
I looked in the InstallActions log and this is the error,

1800 not connecting to Cisco Config Assistant

I have Cisco Config Assistant running in my server room, i am able to connect my ESW 520 switch without any issue.
When I goes to connect to my 1800 Router my admin account with pirv 15 on it does not work.
If anyone can help me find what is missing in my config id be very appreciative.

I run CUVA 2.2.2.0 on Windows 7 x64. It works fine with my 7975 and IP Communicator. Earlier versions didnt have the x64 CDP driver for win7 which is why it couldnt see the phone.
You mention that you're running on a UC560 but on a different handset than you previously had while in a working state.
Have you checked the UC config to ensure "video" is enabled on that "ephone"? Should see the camera icon at the bottom right of your Phone screen if it's enabled.

Oracle 9i for NT installation stalls after Database Config Assistant

Hi,
I just downloaded Oracle 9i version 9.0.1 fro Win NT. During installation, installer hangs after reachinh a point where it reaches "Processing Oracle Database Configuration Assistant...".
I have following m/c configuration.
Win 2000 Professional, with 256MB RAM.
C: drive 513 MB FreeSpace, D: (where oracle home is created) 3.75 GB FreeSpace.
Any help would be appreciated.

I'd like to throw in a "me too" here. I recieve that same
exception and the installation freezes no matter what options I
try to install/not install. I'm trying to install the 9i client
(tried both the client download & the server download, neither
worked) on a w2k professional sp2 machine. I already got the 9i
server (Enterprise Edition) to install fine on a w2k advanced
server box, up and running seemingly fine. Thought I'd add my
data point. Oh, and the last few lines of the install log look
like this:

Methinks that "nlsVariant = " line is where it failed. Should
be pretty easy for oracle to fixup.

Installing SOA WebService Manager Config Assistent failed because of firewa

When I install SOA Suite the first three steps (AS config, ESB Config, BPEL config) run fine
while the 4th failed with the following error (see below).
After fiddling around a while I figured out that my firewall prevents the successful
finishing of the 4th step. After I disabled the firewall the 4th step was successful executed.
So which port(s) do I have to open to run even the 4th step WITH ENABLED firewall ?
Is opening incoming TCP connections on port 1521 sufficient ?

Oh nevermind, i found it....
apparrently a wrong port was configured or so. I checked the settings, which can be found in .../owsm/bin/install.properties and somehow property install.db.port was set on 1531 (???) corrected it (to 1521) and the installation succeeded!

OMS Config Assistant fails with OUI-25031

Hello,
I am trying to install OEM 10.2.0.1 GC on a Solaris 5.10 (Solaris 5.9 too) box, using an existing DB which is a 10.1.0.4 on HPUX Itanium 11.23.
It keeps failing with OUI-25031 at the OMS Config. Assistant.
I have tried all the suggestions:
- SUBSCRIBE_FOR_NODE_DOWN_EVENT_LISTENER=OFF
- setting the locale to C in the /etc/default/init file
- using IP instead of hostname
Has anyone found the solution to this?

Config Oracle Alert to send mail

Hi everyone !
I want to setup Event Alert to send mail use Unix sendmail in our project.
My Apps is 9.5.10.2 CU2, i have never applied to Rollup4.( Rollup 4 send mail with WF)
If i want system to sent a message from [email protected] to [email protected], i configed sendmail package successfull. What do i do next step ?
Further, In Page 9.3 of Oracle Alert User's Guide, at Setp 2, How to create Mail System Administrator?

I config Alert on other table and see issue following: in only Alert but when 8 row updated then create 8 requests, and auto perform 8 actions to sends 8 same mail.But i want only system to send 1 mail .

In desperate need of config assistance for 6513 trunking to Netapp controller

We are building a new SAN using a Netapp Fas3160 with 2 controllers in failover mode. We have 1 6513 switch they will connect to for the etherchannels. Each Netapp controller will need an LACP port channel with 4 gig interfaces in each running to the 6513. I have tried to set up the port channels on the 6513 by adding the interfaces into them with the following port config. The channel comes up fine, but routing to the netapp fails immediately after bringing up the trunk, and the port channel will eventually show down/down but the individual interfaces stay up/up. I have tried creating the trunks using the mode "on" command also and it will not stay up either.I am at a loss as to why the channels quit routing and eventually go down.

My initial troubles in getting the port-channel to come up were related to the config SAN admin did on the netapp controller, the cisco config is pretty basic/straightforward.

I am trying to install the infrastructure for Oracle 10G AS 9.0.4 on Red Hat Linux 2.1 Advanced Server. The installation proceeds smoothly upto the time that I have to install the Java Security Configuration Assistant when it throws the No Route to Host Exception. No clue in logs either. Please hellllllllllllllppppppp!!!!

Check if you network cfg is ok before you start the installation.
What works with me is:
a) Check /etc/hosts
first entry should be
- insert your ip address --
192.168.1.2 yourmachine.yourdomain.com machine
127.0.0.1 localhost
b) in /etc/sysctl.conf
kernel.domainname = yourdomain.com
execute as root sysctl -p
c) Set /etc/nsswitch.conf to use files for names resoultion
d) if you use dns make sure that you receive the right answer for your name and ip address
e) make sure that the firewall on the RH machine is off (iptables)

Problems creating a database with DB config assistant

I've just installed Oracle for the first time. I'm a newbie. When I create database using the configuation assistant I get the following error:
ORA-00101:invalid specification for system parameter MTS_DISPATCHERS
Then I hit Ignore and I get the following error:
ORA-00102: network protocol )ADDRESS=(PARTIAL=YES)(PROTOCOL=TCP)
Then I hit Ignore and I get the following error:
ORA-0103034:ORACLE not available
Then when I hit ignore again, I keep looping to the above error message and I'm forced to abort.
Please help me figure out this problem.

Hi, I checked the files... ORACLE_HOME\assistants\dbca\logs, was empty and
ORACLE_BASE\admin\SID\create have this:
ORA-27102: out of memory
OSD-00026: Message 26 not found; product=RDBMS; facility=SOSD,
During the installation I create a Database called TESIS, the SID is TESIS, but when i try to connect by PLSQL with SYSTEM/ORACLE or any other user, show me: ORA:12545 "no se ha podido resolver el nombre del servicio" , I checked the services, and the Listener is running , and the OracelServicesTESIS too, what could be the problem??

I then booted from cd and told configuration assistant to load solaris from hard drive. It worked and I could log in. So I reboot from just the hard drive and I get the same failover to boot interpreter message as above but when I ctrl-d to continue I see:

I can still boot the hard drive if I start from the CD or floppy. So it looks like the boot interpreter is having problems? Can I manually reset some properties in the interpreter or must I reinstall all of Solaris or maybe just the boot interpreter?? This machine is triple-booting Linux and NT with lilo being the main boot manager and then going to the Solaris boot manager screen and has been running fine for 3 months. This happened after reinstalling some software that I know replaces /etc/bootrc and some other files and requiring a reboot. I have run this OS (mostly single-booting Solaris) and software on several other x86 machines for a year and have never had this kind of problem. I really do not want to reinstall Solaris but if I do I want to make sure I dont step on Linux or NT. The way its installed I believe it will be safe, all Solaris knows about according to format is the root, swap, backup, boot and alternates slices. I'm thinking that since all slices are within one partition the installer won't mess with anything outside of that partition, including lilo when making the boot slice. Is this correct? My partition table looks like this from Linux:

I had exactly the same problem.
Try booting directly from the Solaris CD 1 / 2
(without bootdisk).
This worked for me.I tried booting from CD 1 and I got the error message "cannot find boot.bin ". Now I have switched to another motherboard and install CD boots fine but now I have issue with installer software copying to hard disk, after mini.root and platform specific files copy I get the following error message on reboot attempt., "fdisk: cannot stat device /dev/rdsk/c0d0

Net Config Assistant won't save data?

Hi everyone! I'm not sure if anyone else had this problem, but whenever I run Net Configuration Assistant (10G), I can add a service name and test it sucessfully, but it never saves it to the tns_names.ora file. I have tried deleting this file and recreating it from the sample, but it still won't read. If anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it.

You have to hit "Finish" (or whatever the button is labled at the moment) once you've tested the service name before it will be saved. 99% of the time people have this problem, it's because they just exit once the test is successful.
