9.0.3 Update did not work, cannot open iTunes

I updated to the newest version of iTunes (9.0.3) earlier. Now, when I click on the iTunes applications a troubleshooting box comes up that says "This copy of iTunes is corrupted or is not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes" It will not open! Ugh. So I downloaded it AGAIN and it won't finish, it just says there was a problem please reinstall. So I need help. Re-downloading it isn't an option, is anyone else having this happen to them? I can't figure out how to contact REAL support either.

Follow the instructions on this link, basically un-install everything, remove programs that says they are made by apple inc. (using add remove program)

You will also need to check and verify that the following folders have been removed:
C:\Program Files\Bonjour
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple
C:\Program Files\iTunes
C:\Program Files\iPod
C:\Program Files\QuickTime
C:\Windows\System32\QuickTime
C:\Windows\System32\QuickTimeVR
dont forget to remove icloud also
you dont need to delete your itune music library though
If any of these folders still exist, delete them along with their contents. (if you cant delete them, right click and go to properties and then security and change the control of the fold to you)
do this for files under  program files and program file (x86) on your computer
once you have deleted everything, restart your computer. Then I repaired my registry using a registry repair program.
Important:-  instead of installing itunes I installed quick time, which installs apple application support (this is the corrupt file which is causing all the issues)
i then installed itunes and it all worked fine,
should take no longer than half hour to fix

    I am running Windows 7 64 bit.
    This HORROR  began because I realized that my phone had suddenly lost all of the music except music that had been purchased. It also lost all purchased iBooks as well as audible books downloaded from audible and ringtones that I had purchased from iTunes.
    I then thought that it would be fine once I connected to itunes on my computer. I connected to itunes and it said that there was an update available so I downloaded and installed 10.7.
    I tried to run the program and got Error 7 (Windows error 5) message.
    I then found several discussion questions that seemed similar to mine and I think that I tried them all. Removed everything apple and reinstalled iTunes. I followed the instructions and removed everything in the order that was listed, some I had to change security to own the file before I could delete them. I did all of the steps, (maybe I deleted too many apples items ??) emptied the recycling bin, restarted and reinstalled.  I also tried the Net framework fix, used the ms fixit (the one with the picture of the man on it) and I think a few other things that I have found on this site as well as MS site. I restarted my computer every time.
    The latest thing that I tried was to download 10.63 since I don't care about the new stuff.  After all of this I sometimes get and message saying that I am missing AVFoundationCF.dll file and once it said something about Itunes Helper (when these two messages appear, it is separate from the error messages which occur after clicking ok on them)  before getting the Error 7 (windows error 5) or else Error 7 (Windows error 126).
    PLEASE HELP!

  • TS1538 Ios 5.1.1 update did not work

    The update did not work.  I downloaded the udpate last night, through ITunes and did the update this afternoon.
    The phone hung during the update, and now only shows the connect to itunes on the screen.  Itunes does not see the phone.
    When I look in the device manager, I see the drives listed in the Other Devices, and there are two of them listed as "Apple Mobile Device (Recovery Mode)  Tried to update them, but the dirives are no longer on my pc, where Apple said that they should be.
    I am clueless now. 
    The last update had a simular problem.

    Then you should try uninstalling iTunes and all of its components as by following this guide: Windows XP or Windows Vista/7, then reinstall iTunes.  This should replace the drivers.  You must follow this guide exactly or it will not be successful.  Note: uninstalling iTunes will only remove the application; it will not touch your iTunes library, data or your iPhone backup.

  • Update did not work had to reload download and missing

    When I updated Itunes to 11 notice said, CD drivers did not download please download Itunes again. I downloaded again. I do not like this arrangement. After trial and error I found the section that used to appear as soon as you attach your phone to your computer. It used to have a part that said if problem re set Iphone to factory settings. That is missing. I cannot find where it says back up to Cloud or Computer, that was all on the page you saw when you plugged your Iphone into your computer. I have Iphone 4S. Windows 7 64 bit. I have watched the video that came with the update and it did not talk about this issue.
    My computer went down in Sept and I still have not transferred old files from Win XP to Win 7 I am trying to find that question..

    If the above doesn’t do the trick entirely, then use the instructions in the following as it applies to the version of Windows you are using:
    HT1925: Removing and Reinstalling iTunes for Windows XP
    HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
    You may be required to boot into safe mode to complete the folder deletion process.

  • I think the last update did not work, and now I cannot open jpeg attachments with windows picture and fax viewer, it is not listed in the tools/options drop dow

    I don't believe the last Thunderbird update worked, there was a very fast error message. But since then I cannot open jpeg attachments in Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. If I go to Tools, then options, the jpeg line is grayed out, and the drop down menu does not show Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. The windows picture and fax viewer still works on my computer, but not for opening attachments.

    I did as you said - deleted the entry for jpeg, but when I tried to open one there is not an option for Picture and Fax Viewer in the drop down, and it can't be found by browsing. It's just not there anywhere even though I can see pics in it except in email attachments.

    Yesterday - sep 29 I got a message saying to install a security and stability update for firefox. The update seemed to work fine at first but I then tried to use the adobe plugin - the reader for pdf documents not the flash player. It made my computer freeze and after restarting the computer firefox would not open! I did a system restore and that did not fix the issue. I finally had to go into safe mode and reinstall firefox. Googling suggested the adobe plugin was to blame but I had no issues until I updated firefox. I am getting messages to update again but am ignoring them now. Is there some sort of conflict with the update and adobe?

    Latest update for the Shockwave plugin is version 15, please try to update it ans we can eliminate wether it is the update :-)

    1. Reopening of previous windows when starting up.
    2. System Preferences does not save new settings (Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps)
    3. Network drops inadvertantly must reboot to get back on Ethernet Network,.

    Well Wacom may just not have a driver up to date for 10.7.4.  You need to check with them. If you remove your Wacom, do things work better?
    Restarting and shutting down can be problematic if the disk is too full, permissions are damaged, or the drive is damaged, or the directory is damaged, or a driver or RAM issue is present. 
    As far as patience, Mac users don't upgrade until something requires a new version.  Software Update, Quicktime settings, iTunes settings, and any other application that asks for an update can have its settings turned off to ask for updates. Unless someone tells you their software won't work without an update you shouldn't.  In the meantime an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.  Backup your data religiously:

    Apple menu -> System Preferences has many settings for programs that ask for software update.  You can turn these off and leave them off for the most part. Better to check http://support.apple.com/downloads/ and only update when all your software is ready. Don't let the remark in Software Update make you believe "this update is recommended for all systems..." make you believe yours is part of all.  Yes, Apple does that;  I've asked them not to.  I think more should, so Apple realizes updates are only essential for compatibility of new features, and that Apple does not assume everyone needs them.

    I have two Lumia 920's (AT&T). Both were updated to latest software through ATT in October. Both report "Up to Date" in settings, no updates available.
    One says Lumia Amber in extras and info, the other does not. The phone that says Amber has glance, the other does not.  It seems that one phone got the update and the other did not. Can anyone tell me whats up, how can I get the update if the phone says it is Up To Date?

    hi mate, first of all check that you have 10327/10328 as the OS update number in Settings > Phone update, as this is GDR2 for Windows Phone 8. also check that you are up to date with all the latest Nokia system app updates from the Store (you can get instructions for this by going to Pool of Knowledge on the Nokia Discussions homepage, and viewing the Windows Phone 8 App Updates thread).

  • Sleep light firmware update did not work altogether

    The intention was simple. I wanted to run the sleep light firmware to dim the sleep light pulses during the early morning hours. So I installed the firmware package and then went to run the firmware update. At the end of the update, I get an error that goes something like this: "An unexpected error occured. The software was not updated." I was then told to shut down my computer to try again. But I can't try again, because when I go to run the firmware package again, I am told that my firmware is up to date. Yet the sleep light is the same intensity as before, no matter what hour of the day (whether it is 23:53 or 1:53, as examples) I set the time for. I gave the sleep function some time (between two pulses and 5 minutes for some tests) for the dimming effect to occur potentially, but it never did.
    Now what do I do?
    Specifically:
    [1] How do I get to rerun the firmware so that I can get the light dimmer?
    [2] Why did the error even occur and prevent the firmware from being updated?

    Reinstallation of the package led me back to the ~"Firmware is up to date" message, so now I'll try the chat agent. (In the future, link me to where the chat agent is, because I did not find it until I did a general search from the main website, and searching is a huge pet peeve of mine.)

  • Sound on Computer not working after opening iTunes

    When I start my computer, the sound works fine. As soon as I open itunes, I get a message that "itunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration. Audio/video playback may not operate properly".
    My songs will not play in itunes. When I check the device manager, the sound card and dls synthesizer have the yellow exclamation mark beside them. I have tried to update/uninstall/reinstall the drivers for these devices, but nothing this does not solve the problem.
    If I restart the computer, the sound works, until I open itunes, then the sound is once again disabled.
    Everything was working fine, then I backed up my purchases, and now it doesn't work.

    Thanks for the support page. I have worked through most of it, except for upgrading itunes. I have version 8.0 and do not want to upgrade at this time. What I can't figure out is that it worked since January and then by backing up my purchases, it doesn't work. I need to back up my music before upgrading and don't have my external harddrive right now.

    After installing the 8.0.2 update, ipad will still not keep a wifi connection for more than 5 minutes. I also still cannot play videos. will Apple be able to figure this out soon? My device has pretty much been rendered useless at this point.
