9.2.0.6 upgrade to 9.2.0.7, without dbua??

Hello,
I upgraded a database installation with 9.2.0.6 following the book to 9.2.0.7. After that, I started the Database Upgrade Assistant, selected my only database on this host. The dbua concluded that there was nothing to upgrade on this database.
I started the windows service, listener, and was able to open the database without a startup migrate.
Is this strange?? Under what conditions (that I would be able to check in advance) do you need to migrate?
Thanks for your help.

In this case it isn't a database upgrade, but a simple patchset apply. You don't need DBUA to perform this task, just follow the companion readme document, this details the steps on how to upgrade your database.
DBUA is used when you want to upgrade from a previous Oracle release (prior to 9iR2). When any of the first three version digits change you use dbua (read the reference to further identify which older versions are supported with dbua upgrade method).

  • Can I upgrade to Master Collection CS5.5 without uninstalling Design Premium CS3

    Hi,
I work for a company that has offices worldwide, but do not have the budget to upgrade all licences which is why I need to keep InDesign/Illustrator CS3.
I wish to switch from Final Cut Express to Adobe Premier Pro/After Effects (I don't like the new Final Cut Pro X - for many reasons)
Can I upgrade to Master Collection CS5.5 without uninstalling Design Premium CS3?
    Many Thanks,

Absolutely. The upgrade won't touch the earlier version.
Make sure you buy the right upgrade. Here's a link to it on Amazon: http://amzn.to/oRnKh4

We are all users here. You are not talking to apple on these forums. There is no way anyone here can know the decision making process apple uses to determine what changes to make to the operating system. Also none of use care about which phone you might buy next.

If you're running iOS 7 beta and you're not a developer, you cannot get support from Apple.

  • Upgrading from iOS 4.3.3. without using iOS 6

I have an iPad 2 which is still using iOS 4.3.3 as I didn't get round to updating it. Now I need to upgrade to iOS 5 or above to enable me to use a digital AV adapter for HDMI. Is there anyway I can upgrade to iOS 5 or above without updating to iOS 6?

No. You will have to update to iOS 6 now. That's the way it works.

    Can I upgrade OS X 10.5.8 without a DVD?

No, unless you're already running some version of Mac OS X 10.5. If you're running 10.5.8 and want to upgrade further, you need the Mac OS X 10.6 DVD or a Mac OS X 10.7 USB thumbdrive.

  • Upgrading ZFS packages (filesystems, tools, etc) without doing an OS upgrade

    Hi everyone,
Is there a way to upgrade all ZFS libs, binaries, etc without having to retort on a full-install or os upgrade ?
I'm running Solaris 10u5, I've read that many new features (esp. concerning snapshots) are available on 10u6. I can't put the server offline for much time and can't upgrade it to 10u6+ . I'd only need to upgrade all ZFS-related parts (... live, if possible !).
Is there a way to do this ?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

If you can find some spare disk space, you might want to look into liveupgrade to minimize your downtime. This might make it possible for you to upgrade. With liveupgrade, you should be able to keep your downtime to something a little bit longer than one or more reboots depending on the current state of your installation.
If you want to upgrade ZFS packages to get some of the newer features, like moving your / file system to ZFS, you probably can't just upgrade ZFS packages to get that functionality. A feature like that involves quite a bit of support outside of the ZFS packages.

  • Upgrade 10 databases at a time without OEM

    Hi,
I have ten databases in 10.2.0.2. standard edition on Linux platform. I want to upgrade all of them to 10.2.0.4 without using OEM.
Is there any simple way to upgrade all of them to 10.2.0.4 instead of login to each and every server and upgrade.
    Thanks,
    Mahi

You don't need OEM. But you have to patch 1) the software and then 2) to upgrade each database. Simply follow the instructions in the README file, which comes with the patchset. The whole procedure requires a downtime for all involved databases.

  • Upgrading a dumbphone to a smartphone without a data plan

When you upgrade a dumbphone to a smartphone, you have to add a data plan to that line.  You also have to sign up to continue on a new, 2 year contract for that line.
Am I correct in believing that the contract only applies to maintaining phone service, and not the data plan?  In other words, can I use the upgrade on the dumbphone line to get a subsidized smartphone, sign up for the 2 year contract extension, pay 1 month of data, and then go back to the dumbphone, dropping the data plan on that line?

    kaybracon wrote:
"you can put the dumbphone back on the line and remove the data

But I could then move that smartphone to another line on the same plan, a line which has unlimited data, but for which Verizon will no longer allow subsidized phone purchases without losing the unlimited data...
    correct

  • How can I re-install CS2 upgrade on a new hard drive without serial no. of previous Photoshop 5?

A new hard drive has been installed on my G4 Mac with OS10.4. I am trying to re-install CS2 Premium on the new hard drive but I no longer have the serial number of my previous Photoshop 5. I need to enter this as the CS2 was an upgrade. I have spoken to Adobe technical support but they no longer support CS2 so are not able to help. They recommended that I try the Adbe Forum. All my Adobe products have been bought legitimately. I know people manage to use pirated Adobe software so there must be some way for me to activate a legally bought product.

    Michael
Thank you for your email and suggestion.
I have tried that and the only product listed is my CS5 Design Premium (which was an upgrade), none of my previous Adobe products are listed.
I am now looking to see if I can buy an old version of Photoshop that will work on a Power PC G4 Mac with OS 10.4.
I only need Photoshop on that Mac to paint from, not the rest of the Suite.
It is infuriating that I already have a legitimately bought Adobe product (as all mine have been) but I am unable to use it.

  • Tiger (10.4.11) upgrading to Snow Leopard (10.6) without iLife/iWork

    Hi Guys!
I have just recently ordered Snow Leopard from apple to upgrade my iMac to 10.6 due to my new ipod and Iphone being unable to sync with iTunes.
Now after ordering i have run into a few worries,
-the first being that i am currently running Tiger (10.4.11) and i am not aware of any back-up solutions, can you recommend any?
-Second is that i did not get iLife or iWork, what i understand it that those are applications such as iPhoto and iMovie etc. What i want to know if that if i upgrade to SL will the applications that i have  currently remain there with me being able to access them? Or do i need to back-up the applications as well? Even then will i be able to run them on SL?
-Third is that i have run into phrases such as "Clean Install", and not being used to upgrading i am not very aware of what this means, should i worry about this?

    GuyWhoWantsHelp wrote:
Is iLife necessary to the upgrade, will the applications i currently have still be there when i install snow leopard?
The "retail Snow Leoaprd" does not have the "extras".  SL disks that came with systems had "Disk 2" with applications.

"format/at-least-erase the partition before install instead of in-place upgrade".  With 10.4 you may be better off just erasing the partition first and saving yourself the troubled upgrade."
Im not quite sure what you mean by this. Does this mean i have to wipe the hard drive before installation?
If you simply upgrade the existing Tiger install, the SL system changes may or may not replace everything necessary.  Some user report success, others report very odd irregularities.
Some have no choice but to erase the partition and start with just SL, then use MigrationAssistant to copy user-specific settings.

  • Upgrade mac os 10.5.6 without disk

    You cannot.
Snow Leopard = OS X 10.6.x... It is Not available as a download... It is a Paid Upgrade.
    Do this first...
Check that your Mac meets the System Requirements for Snow Leopard...
    Snow Leopard Tech Specs
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
If so... Purchase a Snow Leopard Install Disc...
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
    Other countries...

After the Successful Install, run Software Update to get the latest updates for Snow Leopard and iTunes.
Be sure to make a Backup of your Current System Before Upgrading...
