9.2.0.7 Patches Error

Hi Experts,
I'm trying for post patch(9.2.0.7) installation, but every time catpatch.sql is run. It gets hang.
SQL>STARTUP MIGRATE
SQL>spool patch.sql
SQL>%ORACLE_HOME%\rdbms\admin\catpatch.sql
One more thing my database is configured with dataguard. Do I have to do any activity in the Physical standby database before applying for patches to the primary database.
Please advice
Thanks in advance
Shaan

Aren't the primary and physical are both supposed to be at the same patch level? You can't do rolling upgrades with 9i, so I'm pretty sure you need to bring them both down, patch and bring them up.
I'm getting ready to implement Dataguard with 9.2.0.6. Have you run into any problems?

    Hi,
Search AutoConfig for afcpctx.sh, you should find more details about the error around the filename.
For the patch error, please search the workers log files for details about the error -- Log files can be found under $APPL_TOP/admin/<SID>/log directory (search for adwork*.log).

  • Patch error...dammit :)

I installed the patch and got:
svrmgrl: error in loading shared libraries: libclntsh.so.8.0: cannot open shared
object file: No such file or directory
    Applying patch 8.1.5.0.1 .....done
    Applying patch 8.1.5.0.2 .....done
Did it load? Or is that error serious? Do I need to correct something and then reinstall it?
Also, I can't run dbassist like many people I see have had problems with. Unable to initialize threads: cannot find class java/lang/Thread
    Could not create Java VM
Anyway...I decided to try and install the patch..then try again and if that doesn't work...I'm going to try installing a later version of the JVM other than 1.1.6 like Oracle says to use. If anyone knows a way around that error I'd appreciate it!
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU...in advance.
    -Julie

AFAIK, you do not have to rerun the root.sh script.
I have already upgraded to 8.1.5.0.2.
That patch error may be related to the relinking script bug that I have posted earlier.
Basically, what I found out is that if you did not install some/all of the oracle options, the relinking will fail. The relinking script I think assumes that all the options (and related lib file) are installed, which in my initial installations were not.
If you apply only the 8.1.5.0.1 patch, svrmgrl and sqlplus will still report 8.1.5.0.0. If you apply the .0.2 patch, in my case (when I did not install the options), I cannot run svrmgrl and therefore unable to create a database.
    Check your /tmp/81501.log and /tmp/81502.log.
Do a grep for "No such file"
    If grep returns:
/usr/sbin/ld: -lxxxx No such file or directory, the relinking has failed.

This is a bug - and it's because a problem with the orabpel.ear file.
    Solution:
    1. shutdown the server
    opmnctl stopall
    2. copy one file over the other
    e.g. cp $ORACLE_HOME/bpel/system/services/lib/orabpel.ear $ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/oc4j_soa0/applications/orabpel.ear
    3. startup the server
    opmnctl startall

    1. The client seems to need a repair
    2. Cannot access the MSP file when available locally on the client in the "'C:\_SMSTASKSEQUENCE" folder.

I always fall back to use this method, when dealing with hotfixes in a task sequence:

  • Patches not patching, error occurred "Error is:"

Hello! I am patching a SLES 11 SP2 server with ZCM 11.2.4 with Monthly Update 1 applied. The majority of my patches are applied appropriately, however there are 5 patches that will not apply and I get this unhelpful message in the message log - "An error occurred while executing the program. Error is:" with no error listed after the colon. I have tried clearing the cache on the agent, rebooting, checking and unchecking the "Resolve all RPM dependencies" box, all with no change. For testing purposes, I downloaded the one of the patch RPMs from Novell's web site and was able to to install it without any errors (interestingly enough the ZCM server does not see it as being patched). The patches I am having problems with are as follows...
Novell SUSE 2014:8791 kernel security update for SLE 11 SP2 x86_64
    Novell SUSE 2013:8701 libpixman-1-0 security update for SLE 11 SP2 x86_64
    Novell SUSE 2013:8681 openssl-certs security update for SLE 11 SP2 x86_64
Novell SUSE 2013:8621 curl security update for SLE 11 SP2 x86_64
    Novell SUSE 2013:8656 cifs-mount security update for SLE 11 SP2 x86_64
and attached is a copy of the zmd-messages.log file from the affected client.
    Thanks for the help!

  • Oracle Patch error

    Hi All,
I am applying oracle patch 10.2.0.3 on 10.2.0.1 on SUSE 9. However it prompts to select the "Inventory Directory" and I choose /u01/app/oracle/OraInventory which is already populated on the screen.
When I click on next it prompts with an error that " the directory is not empy and I need to choose a diff directory " . I mention a diff dir and click on next it prompts to enter oracle home which is already populated there. However when I clisk on next it again throws an error " not to proceeed" and chose a diff dir.
    Please Help.

I unzipped the file and then there was a folder created "Disk1" , there is a runInstaller in the Disk1 folder which I run.

  • Critical Patch Error copying ORACORE10.DLL on a Win2K SP4 Server

In running the opatch apply for the CPUApr2007 critical patch on a 10.2.0.3 database, it fails to copy file oracore10.dll. I'm assuming that some process is using the DLL, but it's not Oracle. All Services relating to Oracle have been stopped. I then set them to manual start and rebooted the server, but the patch still balks that it can't copy the file. I remember back with Oracle 6i Developer Installs that you have to rename the bin directory, reboot, and then revert it to bin again, and that would resolve the problems with copy-type errors. I'll try that when I get back into the office. I do have a full backup, of course, and the services start normally after an opatch rollback, but I'm wondering whether anyone else has run into this, and what they might have done to resolve it.
    Thanks for your time.
    Phil

Thanks Chris. That's a must get download. But what I did to get around it was to stop the Oracle Services, set them to manual, rename the %ORACLE_HOME%\bin to %ORACLE_HOME%\TempBin, and then reboot the server. With the server up, Oracle down, and Microsoft not doing me any favors by preloading any Oracle DLLs, the patch installed without incident...(Note to Bill Gates...Stop messin with my DLLs!!!)
