9.2.0.8 PSU

Hi,
We have a few databases on 9.2.0.6 with ORACLE_HOME=/opt/app/oracle/product/9.2.0.6
We are working on upgrading only one 9.2.0.6 database ( testdb) to 11g.
For this, first the testdb database has to be patched to 9.2.0.8 before upgrading to 11g
However all the other databases need to be on 9.2.0.6 for a while.
We plan to create another ORACLE_HOME =/opt/app/oracle/product/9.2.0.8 which has the 9.2.0.6 binaries and then apply the 9.2.0.8 patch on this new ORACLE_HOME.
This will be the ORACLE_HOME for testdb.
Will the 9.2.0.8 patch against ORACLE_HOME=/opt/app/oracle/product/9.2.0.8 affect the existing ORACLE_HOME=/opt/app/oracle/product/9.2.0.6 home in any way or the OraInventory or Jre or Oui directory/files
In /opt/app/oracle in any way?
Also can we continue to use only one listener under 9.2.0.6 home , however modify the ORACLE_HOME of testdb to /opt/app/oracle/product/9.2.0.8 after the upgrade?

Pl post OS details

You can use one listener or two listeners (one per ORACLE_HOME) - not sure what you mean by the second part of your sentence.

  • Availability of Inspire P580 PSU in the US?

    Hi,
I'll shortly be moving from the UK to the US, and I own a UK-bought Inspire P580 5.1 speaker set. Due to the voltage difference (220/240V vs 110/120V) I'd need a new, US-sourced 110V PSU in order to use the speakers in the US.
Is it possible to buy a compatible PSU from Creative Labs US? Are there any third-party PSUs I could use instead?

If it's an external power supply. The answer is YES!

  • PSU causing lock ups when gaming? K9A2 Platinum

I am having black screen and occasionally grey screen lock ups when Im playing games. It can happen within 10 minutes or up to an hour. I have to press the power button to restart and dont get any windows errors or blue screen. I have no issues when watching videos or just tooling around. My PSU is a OCZ600MXSP and Im thinking its not up to spec. I have everything running stock. Is it likely my PSU doesnt cut it or is the black/grey screen freeze thing an cpu/gpu overheating issue?

All of my drivers are up to date (I do use driver sweeper as well). It happens pretty much in all games, from BFBC2 and TF2 to some crappy kid game my son plays online (Wizard 101?). Im not sure what the temps are under load but at idle they are good (cant recall what exactly they were but were in the proper temp range). My monitor has just finally died as Im typing this on my laptop (bad caps on power board  ) so Ill test the temps while gaming when I can hook it up to my big LCD.
Could the lock up with no blue screen/error report indicate a component overheating?

  • PSU Query for MSI KT3 Ultra-ARU running 3000xp

    Hi There,
Before buying a new Motherboard I was just wondering if the problems I'm getting are related to the PSU which is about 5 years old. I've just upgraded my processor to a Athlon 3000 XP 333 FSB which goes into the MSI KT3 Ultra-ARU (MS-6380E v1.X) motherbaord, which I've upgraded the Bios to version 5.7, I've also  upgraded my graphics card to the Leadtek Geforce FX5900XT which also plugs into the PSU. When setting my fsb to 166 my PC either won't boot or when I try to run say 3DMark it just freezes, but when I set my FSB to 133 it works fine. I was wondering if it is trying to draw too much power from the CPU.
I don't really know how to write the PSU details down correctly so I've just copied everything from the unit.

  • PSU and Video card upgrade for HP e9280t

Hello, I wanted to upgrade my PSU and video card. The PSU I would like to get is the SeaSonic S12II 620 Bronze 620W (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151096&Tpk=17-151-096) but I wasn't sure if my computer could handle and hold the PSU. The video card I would like to get is the EVGA 01G-P3-1561-AR GeForce GTX 560 Ti (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130604) but im not sure if my computer can handle this too. I have a HP Pavilion Elite e9280t CTO Desktop PC (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=4066665) can someone please tell me if I can upgrade to the PSU and Video card?

    Stuart, welcome to the forum.
The truth is, any video card that will run properly with the 300W PSU in the computer, will not be much better than the integrated video.  Most newer mid-level cards require a PSU with a minimum of 400W watts.  I have searched for other members many times without any luck.  If you want to upgrade the PSU, it will give you far more options.

  • Video Card and PSU upgrade for HP pavilion p6310y?

    Hello,
I am a mild gamer and I would like to upgrade my video card so I could play games like minecraft and maplestory without my frame rate dropping every 5-10 min.  When this happens it sounds like the fan in my computer is working really hard and the game is almost unplayable.  I also play a few games from steam such as Gmod and Borderlands, however the games that seem less graphic intensive give me more problems.
Should I and am I able to upgrade the video card and psu for this HP pavilion p6310y?  or possibly get a better card for these game without upgrading psu?
Processor is Quade core AMD Athlon II X4 630 / 2.8 GHz
    6gigs of ram

    NVIDIA GeForce 9100
    300 watt power supply
    Windows 7 64 bit
Any help would be much appreciated!

    Hi,
Yuo might try updating the video driver from the NVIDIA web site.
Your PC has a 300 watt power supply.  If you don't need DirectX 11 (used for better detail in newer games), then the NVIDIA GT 240 1GB or 512 MB DDR5 is about tops for a 300 watt power supply.

  • Another video card/PSU upgrade for HP Pavilion p6565uk

    Hi there
I want to upgrade from the basic Nvidia card and 300W psu provided with my HP Pavilion P6565UK, purchased a few months ago.
I am looking at either a Corsair CX 600W or an Antec HCG-750W, I am not sure if there is a difference, and an EVGA Nvidia superclocked GTX550Ti card.
I am however really not technically minded and I am not sure how to go about making sure that these products will be suitable before I purchase them.
    I have 3D gaming in mind (I have a 120hz screen) as I am a Warcraft player.
Hope someone can help point me in the right direction or hold my hand as I am hopeless with stuff like this!

    Hi,
You might have issues getting the Antec HCG-750W to fit.  Do some measuring and see it will fit, particularly the distance between the power supply and the optical drive.  I have see where PSUs of 750 and greater have failed to work in some HP PC's.
Go with the Corsair CX600 or the CX500.
I noticed that EVGA has lowered the PSU requirements for some video cards.  Look at this information for the 550 TI superclocked.

  • What PSU should i buy?

Hey, i have an important question. I have seen a bunch of posts here on the forum about lack of juice out of PSU's with certain hardware configs....
I think i have the same problems here, flickering textures in games, when playing games they just quit and im back in windows.... and even sometimes it just hangs.... this is only when playing games or 3D rendering in 3D studio max.
    Here are my system specs.

After reading many of the posts I assumed it was my power supply, went back to where i bought it (both the pc and the card) to upgrade nah it's the card bring it back.

  • MSI 6600 diamond PCI-E/ 3DMARK05 = 739/ PSU Problem?

This is my first post, so forgive me if it's not OK.
I have an MSI NX6600 VTD128E diamond. I am getting the Nvidia Sentinal warning approx. 75% of the time. I just installed an Enermax EG465P-VE FMA. I'm not sure if the specs will show up in my profile, so they are 3.3v - 35A, 5v - 35A, 12v - 33A. From all the reading I have done I thought this would solve my problem, but it did not. My original PSU was a 300W Hipro with dual 12v rails @ 18A each that came with my computer, and I got the warning everytime I turned it on, which is why I switched for the new one.
These cards get there power from the PCI-E slot on the motherboard with no option for an extra power connector. At this point I don't know if I need a new PSU with dual 12v rails, or if there is something else causing the problem. From reviews of other 6600 cards I think my 3DMARK05 numbers should be between 2600-3200? Any thoughts or suggestions would be very appreciated.

Thanks for the reply blazing storm.
I have had 1 or 2 restarts trying beta drivers, 71.81 and MSI's 71.22 caused a strange xp screen saying please wait, but it never booted up. Far cry wouldn't load with one of them. This is the only game I'm playing right now and it actually runs pretty good with settings on High. My clock speeds were at 400/800 after the Sentinal warning so I'm not sure what it is doing, but my marks definatly suggest something is wrong. Everything runs ok with the 66.93, which I used before the beta's and I am using them now.I didn't get the warning when I started my Comp this time so I think I will try 3DMARK05 again just to see if there are any changes.
From what I understand about Memtest (very little) I need a floppy drive, but I don't have one. Am I correct or is there another way to use the program? Anybody else have some ideas? Please.
PS- could someone explain the differences between ATX12V, ATX V1.0, V1.3, V2.0, V2.3? etc. Do the new PCI-E boards need a specific version? Thanks.

  • IMac Power supply PSU failure due to UPS type

I am posting this to aid anyone else who has suffered a similar issue as it took me some time to rectify and it was difficult to find evidence of proof.
    Preamble:
My late 2012 27" iMac began powereing off, sometimes after a few days sometimes after 20 minutes. It gradually got worse until it would not power on at all.
I had tried all possible fixes I could including - reset SMC and NVRAM, reinstalling Mavericks, running from an external HDD with a cloned OS, running with a fresh Mavericks install on a USB stick.
Also ran Apple Hardware tests and used Micromat Techtool 7 with no problems apparent.
Also tried running when moved from my desk and plugged into a different socket in the house (this point is especially relevant).
    Repair attempts:
Apple (via Amsys) changed the logic board. This worked for a day then the fault reoccurred. Apple (Apple store this time, Amsys scratched the aluminium housing previously so I avoided them) then changed the PSU.
This fixed the fault and the iMac ran with no problem (apart from audio missing - another discussion perhaps!), BUT when I moved the iMac back to its original position on my desk (having been plugged in the aforementioned other socket) it would not power on again. I then realised it was the UPS and iMac were not playing nicely. If I plugged the iMac into the UPS when the UPS was already powered on, the iMac would work until the next random power down. I have used the UPS with everything else including the iMac for over a year so didn't suspect it. However, I do have the occasional brownout (power dip) and power cut so it has been utilised for the iMac a handful of times without issue.
    Solution:
I have now researched and concluded the iMac PSU (at least the Energy Star 5.0 onwards compliant ones, not sure about older iMacs) need a Pure Sine Wave UPS otherwise the PSU may be damaged as mine was. It may not happen until the UPS is called upon either. In fact any active PFC PSU could be affected. I could not find this out from Apple or APC (my UPS manufacturer), only with some reasearch and my own knowledge of electrics. It seems that not all iMacs are as sensitive or for other reasons this fault will not occur with a similar set-up to mine, but I am now confident that this was the cause. Please note I do not yet have my own Pure Sine Wave UPS and I am now running without one for the time being until I buy a Cyberpower CP1300EPFCLCD or similar.

    Welcome, Cubber;
yes, there are some people complaining here about power supplies -
I'd contact Apple and tell them your problem. Being hit twice by the same failure is not nice. Usually they cooperate - have a look at just this post her:

  • Which type of psu for K8d Master3 FS - please help !!!

    Hello community,
unfortunately we are unable to get a K8D Matser3 FS running.
We excluded problems in CPU or memory so we think the problem is the power supply.
In the manual of the board in the pin-assignment on pin20 there is written "3VSB". Does that mean +3V standby ???
We tested two different psu, a Levicom Blackpower 450W 24+8 EPS (no cable on Pin20) and a Bequiet P5 520W EPS 24+8 (white cable -5V on pin20)
without any success. The CPUs stay cool, the CPU fan is running and there is nothing to hear or see.
The german support couldn´t help. They said that all EPS power supplys should work fine, that was all they could say.
What we need is an information about tested psu with type and manufacturer so we can compare the pin-assignment.
Please help us. This is urgent.

  • PSU faulty...???

Ok, I finally have enough cash to purchase a PSU. But to make sure it's the PSU that is causing this problem I will ask. What happens is: that when I load up large files, pull up Paint Shop Pro, multiple web pages or other programs I notice my fans seem to throttle down then they go back to normal once the program is up. If I load a heavy web-page (alot of flash etc) & or I am loading more than one web page at a time with multiple images etc, the same thing. The case fans slow down (enough so where I can hear them clearly) and then speed back up again. I have a total of 5 case fans along with a NB fan, CPU fan, the fan on my Radeon 9500 Pro and the PSU fans (2 of them). Is this due to a weak PSU ? Before I go forking out the cash I want to make sure this ISN'T NORMALY SUPPOSE TO HAPPEN, & the reason it is. The Tt case has a fan adjuster that I can set to 'Low, Medium, High'. I always keep it on Medium for noise reasons, so, the fans aren't even running at there full potential and I am still getting lags on them. I've even set the CPU back to it's normal speed and yet the problem still occurs.

  • Install new GPU and PSU and am stuck at BIOS splash

I purchased an HP a bit over two years ago (Summer of 2012). The computer is an h8-1240t. I had selected the i7 3770 CPU, 300W PSU, 8gb RAM, and a GeForce GT 530.
I am replacing my card with a MSI GTX 970 GAMING 4G card as well as a new 500W Corsair CX500M power supply.
The install went fine. I made sure all devices were firmly seated in the slots. When I was finished I powered up my computer and found that I was getting stuck on the BIOS splash screen where it tells you to press 'Escape' for options. If I leave the power on it will eventually make a few intermitent beeps and eventually go to a blank screen with a dash in the upleft corner.
If I am quick enough, I can press 'Esc' and get to the BIOS settings, but then the computer becomes stuck again and same thing as above happens.
After having those issues I put the older GT 530 card back in and everything powered up as normal.
Is this possibly an issue with my motherboard? Here is a CPU-Z screen shot http://i.imgur.com/VDaLmlZ.jpg
Any help will be appreciated as right now that $350 card is as good as a paperweight hah.

Yes it's an 8 thing. The only solution I have seen is to flash the video BIOS on the video card. Video card manufacturers are aware of this issue and many have made a video BIOS available which will make the card work with older systems. You would obviously have to do that on another computer. Also some video cards have a hardware switch on the PCB board that lets you switch the video BIOS from true UEFI (Win8) compatibility to legacy compatibility. Look carefully for such a switch.

  • Why is the PSU in my Neo2 getting warm?

My system is in my signature. I have a kill-a-watt plugged into the wall, and not including the router, modem and printer, my system draws a max of 160 watts, on average, its using less than 150 watts. Recently, ever since I installed a 9800 Pro and Adaptec 2930CU scsi card and Pioneer 303s scsi dvd drive in addition to the rest of my stuff, I'm getting the feeling the PSU is running hotter than it should. Any idea's looking at my signature what could be drawing more than normal? I've temporarily disconnected the WD 80 GB HD and the Pioneer scsi dvd drive for now and the PSU seems cooler. I'm wondering if I've partially dislodged some wires or something. I think I'll power down and check it out.
    thanx

I have just build a new comp> AMD Athlon XP 2800+ (barton box), KT6V mobo, Apacer 512 MB DDR400 CL 2.5, FX 5200( i know is kinda crap but i am from very poor country, cant afford a better one right now ) Creative Soundblaster Live 5.1. Q-tec 350W PSU. Whats the problem? - its not working! after i press power switch, the mobo gains power ( PSU is working, CPU fan is working too), but thats all... no signal in monitor...after a sec or two the mobo makes this sound 8x fast beeps (1sec pause) and again 8x fast beeps and so it repeats... D-bracket stops at memory detection test(early chipset initialisation displays correctly and moves to Memory detection test).. i tried to change 3 sticks of ram so i dont think that is the problem ( DDR400, DDR400 and DDR333)..

15A should be plenty for your system to at least POST.  The FX5200 is a low-end card with power requirements to match (very little on +12VAGP).  I assumed Q-Tech's definition of 15A means its actually around 12A.  But what is the make of this alternate PSU?  If it is a reputable brand, then the problem is not likely +12V.
Disconnect the power to HDDs and CD/DVD drives, power on the system and see if it gets any further.  HDDs actually place their highest load on +12v when the drive is spinning-up (5 or 6 seconds max).  Current 7200RPM HDDs can place up to 2A on +12V during spin-up, but settle down to less than 1A during seek and read/write after the platters are up to speed.
The beep pattern and D-bracket are both indicative of a RAM problem of some kind.  Double check any FSB jumpers, try different RAM slots, and make sure the 4-pin power connector is attached.
