9.2.1 no syncing iphoto

Could anyone help me, my videos and photos are not syncing to iphoto, also a little pop up window says: 7 items could not be synced to itunes, i don't know what happened, everything was perfect until I upgraded so it must be a bug or something but if anyone has a way to solve it you would be very helpful.

iPhoto will work with anything you set as an external editor - I've even seen one person set Chess as one!
So, whatever problem you have with "Photoshop raw CS4" - do you mean Camera Raw, btw? - it's not with iPhoto. At a guess, you've using CS4 and that won't run on Lion because the apps are PPC.

  • ITunes cannot sync iPhotos to the Apple TV

An hour ago, my iMac had no problem syncing my photos from iPhoto to my TV. Now I just got this error message: "iTunes cannot sync iPhotos to the Apple TV 'Apple TV' because your iPhoto Library could not be found. Open iPhoto to create or update your iPhoto Library." I have not opened or done anything to iPhoto in between when my Apple TV could and could not sync my photos.
Yes, opening iPhoto will fix the problem, but just temporarily. This problem has been occurring intermittently for a few weeks. Prior to that, my photos synched to my Apple TV without a problem.
    Any suggestions? Thanks!

  • How to find cause of "File cannot be found" in sync iphoto to iphone in itunes?

Hi can anyone help with syncing iPhoto to iPhone ?     I know similar posts exist on this subject but I have spent 4 days reading them and every support article even vaguely related to it but have not found a solution that works for me.   I have downloaded the latest iTunes, deleted the itunes helper p'list, deleted the ipod photo cache, tried copying my iPhoto library to another HD and syncing with that, tried switching the phone on and off while connected with iTunes and when not, done innumerable restarts, unchecked the sync photos box to delete library photos from the iphone and tried again, rebuit the iPhoto Library, repaired permissions, rebuilt thumbnails, and a few other suggestions I've read and all these many many times in the hope that this time it might work and all to no avail.     When syncing,  iTunes verifies the phone, backs it up, syncs everything else then analyses the iPhoto library, optimises the photos and then starts to copy them and after a few moments gives me that familiar message that the " iPhone cannot be synced. The required file cannot be found "  My iphone tells me " iTunes Sync Needed.  High Resolution images synced via iTunes are missing. Connect your device to the computer ...launch iTunes to sync them."  Where the photos used to be in each album or event that is still listed there are just black boxes.   I use the iphoto library on my iPhone for work purposes, at least I used to and I still need to.  This is really driving me nuts and I am sure it's rectifiable but I am clueless as to what to do to fix it.  I'm sure someone out there knows what I should do and I really need to know! PLEASE !

It works on my Windows 7 laptop.
    iTunes has to be started.
Are you sure you have Windows Explorer set to show file extensions?
Sounds like you renamed it from "FindDeadTracks.txt" to "FindDeadTrack.js.txt" if it is still opening in notepad.
All I do is have itunes started, double-click on the .js file, and let it run. My library is pretty large so it takes more than a 1/2 hour to finish going through all the tracks. It comes back with a message, "0 dead tracks found" and the little notepad results file it creates is blank.
If you DO have dead tracks, it comes back with a message like "15 dead tracks" found and the results file lists those 15 tracks.
The name of the results file is "Dead Tracks.txt"

  • IPhone4 fails to sync iPhoto

I have a MacPro (Mac OS X 10.6.8), and a new iPhone4. iPhone cannot sync iPhoto'11 9.1.5): It says "The required file cannot be found". I have repaired (sequentially) the iPhoto library permissions, then rebuilt the library database; but to no avail! What do you recommend next?

Yesterday, I spent some time troubleshooting my iPhoto syncing problem and I would like to share my learning:
First, I rebuilt the iPhoto Library by sequentially repairing permissions, then rebuilding the library database. Still, iPhoto did not sync two specific albums to iPhone 4 after each of those two sequential steps.
Then, I created a new iPhoto Library. I exported the two albums from the original iPhoto Library to the new iPhoto Library. Both albums synced properly to my iPhone, so long as the new iPhoto Library is the default Library.
Today, I went to the original two albums and opened all pictures in iPhoto in the Edit mode. They all opened sucessfully.
    I welcome your comments.

  • Syncing iPhoto Albums With My Video iPod

Using OS X.3.9 and iPhoto 6.x:
When I sync iPhoto with my new iPod (video), will I be able to browse the photos on the iPod by the same Album names used in iPhoto? Will the iPod list my Albums?
For example, can I present a slideshow of a certain Album on my iPod, then a totally different Album on the same iPod, etc.?
      Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Connect your iPod and wait for it to be recognized in iTunes.
    Click iTunes > Preferences
    Click the iPod button
Click the photo tab beneath it
You can select to sync your photos from iPhoto
I believe you can also tell it to sync only selected albums, which will enable you to see your photos according to these albums when you browse them on your iPod.
    Hope this is helpful

  • Syncing iPhoto problems!

Someone please help me! I'm going crazy trying to figure this out.
I use iPhoto. I had iPhoto on my old mac and ALL my photos were on there (photos from when I was travelling and living in USA so really dont want to lose any of them as they are precious memories) I then downloaded iPhoto onto my iPad2 and synced all my photos from iPhoto on my mac to iPhoto on my iPad2. I had all my photos stored on both my mac and my iPad2.
I then studpidly dropped my mac and smashed it to pieces. With it in mind that I was going to buy a new mac anyway I didnt think to do anything with the smashed mac, simply chucked it knowing I had everything I needed backed up in my cloud/dropbox and all my photos where still in iphoto on my ipad2. I bought a new mac and cannot for the life of me figure out how to sync my iPhoto on my iPad2 to my new mac.
I have even been to the Genius bar at the Apple store who have told me they dont know how to do it and just to email all the pictures from my iPad to my mac (There are 1000's and this would take forever) The only syncing option I can find is to sync iPhoto on my mac to iPhoto on my iPad and not the other way round.
I have also since got the new iPad Air and want to get rid of my iPad2 but cant get rid of it without getting my pictures off it first. There has to be a way to be able to sync iPhoto on an iPad to a mac! Please help me!!!!
    Thank you

Apple's mistake was not to create this app, but to name it iPhoto, like the iPhoto application on the mac. This implies, that both app(lication)s could be used for the same purposes, but in fact they have been designed for completely different purposes.
iPhoto on your Mac is a full grown digital asset management system to organize and maintain photo libraries.
iPhoto on the iPad, iPhone is a simple tool to share photos to Flickr, Facebook, to add a few adjustments before sharing, to preview your snapshots taken on the device, to present photos you have synced to the device. Keep in mind, that the computational power of the handheld devices is limited, and most users don't buy devices with much memory. See the iPhoto iOS page:  http://www.apple.com/ios/iphoto/
iPhoto for iOS is the perfect home for all your photos. The beautiful new interface makes it simpler than ever to organize, edit, and share. Easy‑to‑use editing tools let you paint adjustments onto an image with your finger or add professional‑quality photo effects with a tap. And there are great new ways to create and share interactive slideshows, gorgeous web journals, prints, posters, and photo books. iPhoto isn’t just a collection of pictures. It’s a collection of possibilities.
It really is one-way. You can sync easily from your Mac to your devices, but there is no easy way back - the edits you do on your iPad are meant for "sharing" - to be used before mailing or publishing web albums or journals. All features are just designed for very small iPhoto libraries. There is no easy way to select multiple images. You have to tap each image. There is no way to sort the images - unnecessary, if you only have a few photos. And if you reinstall iPhoto on an iOS device, your iPhoto library will be gone and you need to restore it from your backup.
I am also hoping for a real "iPhoto" on my iPad, but we are not yet there. It would be great to be able to do some editing and organizing with the iPad while travelling and to sync it back to my Mac, when I return. Right now, I prefer to take a MacBook Pro with me.

  • Keep pics in original folder and sync iPhoto?

    Hi,
I keep my original unimported pictures in folders I have set up and named. I like that organization. If I ever want to keep all my pics in iPhoto (not likely) I would also want to keep them in the folders I have set up. Is there any way to "sync" iPhoto with new photos I have added to my folders after I've imported the bulk of them? If iPhoto could only import the new ones, the ones that haven't been imported yet, then that would be one good thing in iPhoto's favor. (The other would be to preserve my folder setup like iView does...)
(I would also love to see this "feature" in iTunes, the syncing of only newly added files. It does keep the originals where they were.)
    Cheers,
    John L

    John:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Possible but iffy. iPhoto is supposed to detect duplicates and give you the opportunity to not import them again. Users have reported mixed success with that function. You could try and if it works fine you're home free. If not you can try the following:
Label all of the photos that have been imported and when you get to the point you have others in the folder, that haven't been labeled, that you want to import, sort them by label and import them. Then label them accordingly.

  • Sync iPhoto with SkyDrive or some cloud service

How keep sync iPhoto library with SkyDrive (first option) or some good cloud service?

Couple of points you need to clear up:
I have some doubts that SkyDrive is based on disks formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled) - and that's what you need for iPhoto. Some folks have used DropBox but they report speed issues. Crashplan has had variable results.
Consider the situation in which you require to restore your Library. An iPhoto library can grow to hundreds of gigabytes over a couple of years. If you go to restore that can take days to download. We do see posts on this issue on the forum from time to time. In a nutshell large amounts of data take a very long time to upload and download.
FWIW my back up procedure uses a mix of Online and local storage.
My Library lives on my iMac. It’s Backed up to  two external hard disks every day. These disks are permanently attached to the iMac. These back ups run automatically. One is done by Time Machine, one is a bootable back up done by SuperDuper
It’s also backed up to a portable hard disk when ever new photos are added. This hard disk lives in my car. For security, this disk is password protected.
I have a second off-site back up at a relative’s house across town. That’s updated every 3 or 4 months.
My Photos are backed up online. There are many options: Flickr, Picasa, SmugMug etc. However, check the terms of your account carefully. While most sites have free uploading, you will often find that these uploads are limited in terms of the file size or the bandwidth you can use per month. For access that allows you to upload full size pics with no restrictions you may need to pay.
Every couple of months I test the back ups to make sure they are working correctly. It’s very easy to mis-configure a back up application, and the only way to protect against that is to do a trial restore.

  • Problem syncing iPhoto albums through iTunes

While using iTunes 11.0.5 to sync iPhoto 11 albums to my iPad, iTunes seems not be awaree of any update in the contents of the albums.
iTunes also recognizes new albums if I create them in iPhoto, but indicates they contain 0 photos.
This way I am not able to transfer new photos from my MAc to my iPad using sync in iTunes.
Any idea how to solve this problem?
    Thanks

Try deleting the photo cache from your Mac and then re-try the photo sync (with all albums that you want selected) and see if they all then copy over - the location of the cache, and how to delete it, is on this page : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1314

  • Sync iPhoto to iPod 5G (Unkown Error (-50)

When I try to sync my iphoto albums to my iPod I get an Unknown error (-50). I have created a few Albums with in iPhoto but they do not apear when i choose to sync iPhoto. My iPhoto Library is located on an external hard drive and contains a huge number of photos. If i select a directory anywhere, then there is no error. I would like to keep my photos on the external HDD if possible as it will fill the internal HDD to the brim.
I'm sorry to be so vague but I'm very new to iMac way. Anyhelp would be great........ (at a simple level would be even better).
    Cheers!

    Skunk-Ster
    Glad to see there's progress.
The key thing to remember about using iPhoto is to do everything via the iPhoto Window. The good news is that you can do everything via the iPhoto Window.
To use an external editor with iPhoto, go to iPhoto -> Preferences and in the General Pane, set PSE as your external editor using the drop down menu at Edit Photo:
Now, if you want to edit a pic in PSE simply double click on it in the iPhoto Window and it will open in PSE automatically. When you save it in PSE it will be saved back into iPhoto automatically.
As to more general file finding: There are three ways (at least) to get files from the iPhoto Window.
    1. Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, it produces a copy.
    3. Show File: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
