9.3.2 update slows Windows Explorer?
I installed the latest update to Adobe Acrobat (9.3.2) on April 26, 2010. Ever since, Windows Explorer (in Windows 7 Professional on an Intel Core2 Duo P9500 2.53GHz 64-bit with 4.00 GB RAM Lenovo T400) has been incredibly slow. When I try to navigate through my drives, Explorer hangs for minutes until it evenutally opens the file I've selected?
Could the two be related?
IPhoto orders photos using a SQLite database structure - much more up to date and much more powerful than an antique file based organization. If you do not want the organizational and search power of a SQL database then the answer is really simple. Do not use it and go back to your old fashioned methods. No one forces you to use iPhoto
As to why? The event sort is wrong and you need to set it to the sort you want. View menu ==> event sort

Update opens Windows Explorer instead of download iOS 5...
When I connect my iPad 2 (4.3.3) to iTunes (10.5), then select Update, it opens Windows Explorer instead of looking for the update from Apple. How can I get it to download iOS 5? I am using 32-bit Windows 7 Enterprise.
It typically opens the default browser regardless of which browser you're actually using. I'm wondering if there's a funky registry key or something that confuses things for your system.
Either way, we usually launch the default system browse, which is not necessarily the browser you started the installation with. This is a long-standing bad experience, and something that I complain to the team that makes the installer about on a regular basis. Everyone involved recognizes that the behavior is less than ideal, but it's a fundamental design problem and it's not something that can be addressed with a simple fix. It *is* very much on the radar as something that we want changed, and I'm pretty sure that it will get resolved in the installer over the long-term.
In the meantime, if you would like to avoid the Flash Player upgrade process entirely, Google Chrome includes Flash Player as a built-in component. There's nothing separate to download from Adobe, and all the updates are made available directly through Chrome's update mechanism. -
Open With Windows Explorer very slow
I am trying to troubleshoot an issue where some users of our SharePoint environment have problems using the open with windows explorer option in a document library.
For some users this works fine... the explorer opens quickly and they can manage the documents.
For other users it takes up to 5 minutes before the explorer view opens. During this time the browser becomes completly unresponsive.
As part of the troubleshooting process I tried taking the UNC path that is shown in the explorer view and tried using the Start -> Run and then entering in the path. This seems to cause the complete desktop to freeze until the explorer window displays.
This is occuring on Windows XP SP Pro SP2 with both IE6 and IE7. The desktops are on the same domain as the SharePoint servers.
Any thoughts on next steps?I had similar issues with WSS 3 and MOSS 2007. Some users would experience slow load times when using IE8.
A. The authentication fix for Microsoft included the following:
In HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SYSTEM > CurrentControlSet > Services > WebClient > Parameters, add a new Multi-String Value named "AuthForwardServerList".
In the Value data field, add one URL you visit, following by the SharePoint server FQDN on the next line. Repeat for each URL you are having long wait times for. In the end, you'll have something like:

sharepointservername.yourdomain.com
https://otherspsite.yourdomain.com
otherspservername.yourdomain.com
The idea behind this is to explicitly tell WebDAV where to first go for authentication. This cleared up the majority of access speed issues with SP and we were back to sub-second access.
B. Occasionally that access would degrade for some reason for certain users. Turns out to be MS updates that make changes to IE settings. We go to IE Options > Advanced Settings tab and hit RESET. Whatever RESET does fixed the speed
issues with Explorer View.
C. Users who installed IE9 had major problems where access would take more than one minute to access these document libraries via Explorer View. And that's one minute for every navigation click. Double-click on a folder, wait a minute.
IE9 must have changed the authentication methodology for WebDAV since this was universally experienced for all IE9 users. MS couldn't provide a resolution on this. Our fix was to remove the IE9 update and revert back to IE8. Everything
went back to normal without having to make any changes to the Registry or IE settings. Doh! -
After updating to Windows 8.1, Windows Explorer crashes.
Hello, I have recently updated from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1. When it finished the install and reboot, it went to my desktop where my background image was gone, Kaspersky Pure 3.0 was gone, and Windows Explorer crashes every time it is opened. The other
two problems are not as big of a problem right now so I searched around for a fix on this issue. I found that some applications, specifically Autodesk, were causing conflicts. I don't have Autodesk but I decided to update everything anyways. I reinstalled
Kaspersky, fully updated it and ran a scan to see if it was a virus, which it is not. I updated AVG 2014 free, Malwarebytes free, and many others. I also ran Windows Update. I ran CCleaner to see if it would fix the problem and it didn't either. I looked at
the error report and saw that it was caused by StackHash_35ff, which through further investigation turned out to be a fancy term for nothing. What is my problem? I really don't want to restore to an older version because I've spent the better part of the day
allowing Windows 8.1 to bother me. Please help because I'm out of ideas and nothing from other responses seemed to be the solution.Okay, so the above worked. I ended the Com Surrogate task, the went into cmd and typed in these two commands;
regsvr32 vbscript.dll
regsvr32 jscript.dll
Everything seems to be back in order. I hope this helps anyone who has the same problem, seeing as no one else came up with this solution. -

I fell for what I thought was a Firefox update but since installing it, when entering a URL, I am redirected back to original computer log in / password entry box. If I use my browser window drop down list I can get into something like Facebook and move around but as soon as I try to type any letter into a 'comment' box, I am redirected to both a Windows Explorer type page showing my various drives and another Window from my Start/Run with the dialog box open with cmd entered in it already. Certain typed letters don't show up at all when trying to enter a 'comment' on Facebook while various letters get various different responses. It is impossible to enter any URL or use my browser other than the items in my drop down. Once there, say to my bank account, I cannot enter any password as I am immediately redirected to someplace else upon trying to type a letter or character. I don't know how to get my browser working. I have tried IE as well and the same thing happens. All started after the supposed upgrade of Firefox. Your help would be appreciated. IOS 6.1.3 / Windows 7 - 64 bit. I am connecting my IPhone 4 to my Windows desktop, in ITunes I click on IPhone and then the "Check for Update" tab. It takes me to a Windows explorer window. How do I get it to find updates?

Try using the Software Update on your iPhone by going to Settings > General > Software Update. One thing to keep in mind if you are trying it on the computer is to make sure that you are not pressing any keys down when checking for updates as that may bring up a pop up window to find the update file.

Sorry for the exceedingly long title...
I have multiple iPod touches, and I just updated one of them to the newest iOS (5.0.1). Now whenever I plug in any of the others, the name of the one I updated appears in Windows explorer. How can I make Windows able to determine which iPod is which again?
64 bit vista home premium.iPod Classic are high drain USB devices, I hope you are not trying to connnect them simultaneously to iTunes, which will definitely hang your USB Host controller, thereby freeze iTunes.

Windows explorer no longer displays devices after ios 8 update
I recently purchased an IPhone 6 and IPhone 6 plus and noticed that they do not show up in Windows Explorer when connected to a Windows Desktop.
I recently updated 2 iPhone 5s and 2 iPhone 5, and noticed that prior to performing the IOS8 update, the devices appear in Windows Explorer as a storage device and I was able to copy all the photos from each of the device onto the Windows Desktop. After updating all of them to IOS8, none of them or the IPhone 6 show up as a storage device. Can anyone tell me if this is intentional or if this has something to do with the fact that the CAMERA ROLL was removed? I did read in other forums/news indicating that there are efforts to put CAMERAL ROLL back. In light of this, does anyone know if this will allow the devices to display in Windows Explorer again?
I don't have a major problem since I copied all the contents from the Iphone5 phones for backup prior to updating to IOS8, but kind of annoying if I have tons of photos on the phone and don't want to waste my time deleting them on the phone. I find it faster when using Windows Explorer to delete unwanted photos or add photos I want.I was having this problem too, even after updating to iOS 8.1
iPhone 6 plus was recognized by iTunes but not Windows Explorer.
Unplugged USB, unlocked phone (lock screen pin code or fingerprint) and reconnected to USB.
When prompted press Trust this computer and yippee the phone pops up in Windows.
The bit I had overlooked was unlocking the pin code on the phone.

I am trying to update ipod touch from ios 4.3.2 to ios 6.1.3. I have it connected to my computer, and the summary in itunes indicates the update is available. However, when I click "update", it opens Windows Explorer and waits for a file name to open.
I am not at that computer now, but I did check via windows update & with the check updates menu choice in the itunes program - neither indicated a newer version of itunes is available. (it is a vista computer).
The itunes software on the computer displays my ipod & the current ios (4.3.2), and indicates a newer ios is available (6.1.3). When I choose "update", I am taken to Windows Exploer and prompted to choose a file to open. it is as if the "update" button has the incorrect code attached to it.
The ipod is working, but there are several app I would like to install, but I can't with the current ooperating system. -
Can we get an option to NOT automatically restart Windows explorer when CC updates?
Virtually every time CC updates, it restarts Windows Explorer, and while generally speaking, this is *slightly* better than restarting the computer, I still end up having to restart the computer because restarting explorer does not bring back some of my system tray tools that I actually use (Sound card manager, game controller manager and some others).
Can we get an option in preferences to turn the explorer restart off? It's super annoying and doesn't prevent me from having to restart the machine anyway.I think we are getting a bit off track. There is nothing technically wrong with the installer. It isn't *directly* killing other processes, it's just a side effect of explorer going away. I'm guessing anything that starts from the startup folder when windows starts, doesn't necessarily restart when only explorer is restarted. 2 examples that I can think of off the top of my head are the profile editor for my Nostromo speedpad, and the control panel for my sound card. at least those two apps do not restart when explorer does. I use them frequently. When they disappear, I have to go hunting for them in the start menu. I realize these are very minor, but it's a side effect that is beyond the control of the CC updater, which is why the user should have control over when explorer is restarted, not the updater.

I updated folder info via windows explorer....
& now my songs/albums are missing from itunes. well, the names are there but the files aren't. because i moved/edited them. but only within my main library folder so they're there but itunes thinks they're in a different THERE.
i had a bunch of albums showing as "compilations" that weren't (ie licensed to ill by the beastie boys) so i moved their folders from the "compilations" folder to their respective artist folders in windows explorer. i also made some changes to misspelled artist names on folders and stuff. now when i try to play those songs in iTunes they can't be located.
conceptually i understand why, but i didn't move anything out of my main library destination folder, just within it so i don't see why i should have to re-import or -add all of the files....is there a way to refresh/redirect iTunes (without doubling all of my files) or do i have to go "locate" each song/file individually?
Dear "compilations": I HATE YOU. :P love, mia.I hate that Compilations folder, too. So here's a tip - when you rip CDs to itunes in the future, BEFORE you hit the import button in itunes, do a +Get Info+ on all the tracks and make sure the "Part of a Compilation" is turned off in the Options tab.
As to itunes losing the paths to the files, that is how it is designed. It only knows absolute path names to the files. By renaming or moving files using Windows Explorer, you confused itunes.
You either have to
1. re-add the files so itunes gets updated with the new path (and remember to delete the old entry with the bad path)
2. Locate each song individually -
Every time I launch the creative cloud desktop app it says I need to update. When I follow the prompts to update I lose my taskbar, etc on my windows 7 machine. I then have to restart windows explorer to get the desktop back, but the app still now says I have to update. Circular problem - please help.

I run windows XP on PC. A windows explorer style window popped up, urging me to update to Firefox 21. The window included a "more info" link and a "remind me later" and "install" button. I have never seen this style of notification before so clicked nothing and dismissed the window. Is this a legitimate firefox notification? If not, what have I been invaded by, and how do I proceed?

Get Windows Explorer when I check for Updates for IOS
I cannot "check for updates" or "restore" IOS on my ipad. I have an ipad 1 (model A1337) and when I select either option it presents me with a windows explorer view of my pc. Any ideas? I have upgraded iTunes to 10.6.3.5. I am currently on IOS 4.2.1

Windows Explorer is very slow when working locally on 2008 R2 server
We have 3 file servers in our office. All run Windows 2008 Server R2 X64 Enterprise. File server services are all they do.
One of the servers runs perfectly.
Two of the servers... when an office user uses windows explorer on their own machine to view the folders & files on the file server it is extremely fast. But, if I either log in locally or RDP onto the file server... using windows explorer... it is slow
as molasses. I wold estimate a 5-7 second delay.
Microsoft is blaming Doubletake, a replication software package we use. But... we use Doubletake on all three of these servers... I have found postings suggesting Kaspersky AV is the issue... but again, we have Kaspersky on all 3 servers.

Please understand that an issue could be caused by an application in specific environment. Thus we cannot eliminate an application just because it works fine on other systems.
A quick test is to disable an application (Doubletake and Kaspersky in this case) and see if issue still exists. Please make sure it is disabled completely.
A common suggestion to determine if an issue is caused by third party program is to booting the computer into Clean Boot mode. Detailed steps could be found here:

If issue still exists in Clean Boot Mode, it should not be caused by the third party application which is disabled already. It is still suggested to make sure all third party apps are disabled when you boot into Clean Boot mode.
