9.5.1. doesn't load photos in mavericks

help please i get the top bar but nothing else?

Try trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder.
(On 10.7 or later: Hold the option (or alt) key while clicking on the Go menu in Finder to access the User Library)
(Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
What's the plist file?
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101.

  • Windows 7 - jpg "open with" launches PSE11 but doesn't load photo.

    In Windows 7 explorer
I can't just right click on a jpg file to open and then load the photo into Photoshop Elements 11.
PSE11 loads properly but with an empty workspace. I then must do a file, browse, open, etc. to
    find my photo.
This has resulted after removing and reinstalling PSE11.
I did this because of possible curruption with my Straightening Tool. (The line is very thin and only
partially appears.) The reinstall did not resolve this problem and created the "open with" problem.
    Thanks,

Launch the Terminal app (/Applications/Utilities/), copy & paste in this one-line command, hit the return key, quit Terminal, and restart. The command resets the LaunchServices database.

  • ICloud Photo Library doesn't load photos on cellular

    Hi,
I tried searching for this issue but I didn't find anything so I'm trying to ask here. I have this problem with iCloud Photo Library on my iPhone, when I'm on cellular the pictures won't load and I only see blurry thumbnails with and exclamation mark in the bottom right corner. I was hoping that the new iOS 8.3 will solve this issue since it's not "Beta" anymore, but it didn't, only difference is that the loading indicator loads to 1/4 and then the exclamation mark appears. On wifi its working with no problems.
Anyone having the same issue? Any thoughts?
    Thank you for replies
    Cheers
    Milan

I'm having the same problem as well. I was able to access my photos in my iCloud Photo Library at iCloud.com last night just fine. However this afternoon I can't get it to open up. For a while the "Photo" icon was not even showing up. Now it shows up but when I click it I get the message "There was a  problem loading the application."
Wonder if the system is down?

When you click on the Playclaw's Encoder tab, what do you see in the next dialog for Video Compression when the Container field in that dialog is set to .avi?
Since you are seeing some video at all in Premiere Elements (glitchy as it is), I am assuming the video compression is not AVCHD. If that were the case, I would expect you not to be able to import the file at all. By any chance is the video compression Xvid or DivX?
It appears that Video compression could also be "H.264 Intel QuickSync" with a mkv file extension. That seems ruled out since you say your file extension is .avi and not mkv.
So, with the .avi file extension
what is listed as Video Compression and what have you done, if anything, under the Encoder Setup button?
Do you have the same issues with and without the antivirus and firewall(s) disabled?
Also, if you took footage that worked before in Premiere Elements back into today's Premiere Elements, problems or no problems?
At this time, can you import a bunch of jpg photos into a project and work without this type of issue?
    Thanks.

  • IPhoto doesn´t work after trying to load photos from iphone with newer version. Help!!!!!

First, I do not have a recent back-up of my iPhoto Library. (But, I learned my lesson for next time). When I tried to load photos from my super duper up to date software I-phone to my outdated iPhoto on the computer (only version 8.1.2), a message came that I cannot open your Mediateck with this version of iPhoto,. You have changed your mediathek with a newer version of iPhoto.
(in German, because I am writing from Germany "Sie konnen ihre aktuelle Mediathek nicht mit dieser Version von iPhoto öffnen. Sie haben Ihre Mediathek mit einer neueren version von iPhoto geändert").
How can I save all the baby pictures of my 3 kids??Help

    Did you update iPhoto?
    If not:
Try these in order - from best option on down...
    1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
    2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new iPhoto 08 library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

  • IPhoto stuck on "Loading photos"

Hi everybody! Hope you can help me. Once I click on iPhoto it opens iPhoto window, but just gets stuck staying "Loading photos" with a wheel that just keeps turning. Im using iPhoto version 6.0.6. The last thing I did using this program was to upload pictures. I left iPhoto on all night, but still found it saying "Loading photos" the next morning. Also tried to look through others posts, but my iPhoto version seems newer than theirs. Would appreciate your help. Thanks

    apldapple:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. If smtr's suggestion doesn't not clear up the problem try deleting the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist. Then launch iPhoto and see if it will open OK.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Why has my iPad1 stopped loading photos from my camera?  I have 40G of free space.

Why has my iPad1 stopped loading photos from my camera?  I have >40G of free space.  It worked fine the first 3 times and then stopped.  I also tried the SD card adapter and it doesn't recognize it either.

Are you using iCloud photo library beta.
Are any of your photos actually video.

  • Iphoto4.0.3 is not working!"Loading photos"never ends!

Time and time again,my Iphoto(4.0.3) doesn't work,"Loading Photos" is still going and I don't see my photos anywhere, is there any way to make it work normally? will I loose all my photos? Why is this happening?
    Desperate Janet.

    Janet,
Open your "Pictures" folder and find the folder named "iPhoto Library" inside. When you've found it, open the iPhoto Library folder, find the folder named "Albums", and temporarily drag it to the desktop.
Now try launching iPhoto again to see if the "loading photos" problem still exists.

  • I photo  does not open always says Loading photos

I have a similar problem to a previous post and found where the photos are on my hard drive. However when I open I photo all I get is "loading photos" I am new to the Mac and need to load new photos from my camera as well as sort the old files and perhaps burn them to cds to create more space.( I assume there are too many photos bogging this software down) Any Ideas on what I need to do to get the IPhoto to first work.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. First delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder and try again. Also go into iPhoto/Shareing preference pane and turn off "Look for shared photos" if it's turned on.
Next, if needed, close iPhoto andopen the iPhoto Library package in the Pictures folder and look for a folder titled "Import". If you find one move it to the desktop and relaunch iPhoto. j
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • How do I stop photoshop (elements3) from opening when I load photos

    Hi,
I have photoshop elements 3 and also Camedia which is the software that came with our digital camera.  I would prefer photoshop didn't open each time I load photos or when I want to view photos.  Is there a way of controlling this?
    Regards

Dear Barbara, thank you so much for your help.
Photoshop came with a scanner I purchased and I have never used it, but
would like to learn the basics to enhance my handmade cards that I make.  I
was wondering if there was a textbook that you could recommend that doesn't
incorporate a lot of jargon and is straight to the point.  The main things I
want to learn about are the basics of opening up ps, importing a card and
working with the layers to fade or change the colour of the background.
    Here is my blog http://simplyhavingfunwithstamps5.blogspot.com/

  • Iphoto not loading photos

so i was in the midst of creating a photobook, when my computer froze. i had to restart it, which appeared to be fine. then later, while working on the photobook, i put it to sleep, and when i woke it, there was a message reading "your computer has crashed, please restart" or something like that.
my computer is fine, however, when i open iphoto, the application loads, but seems to be stuck on "loading photos". i can work all the commands in the menu, including quitting, etc. it just doesn't load the photos.
can someone tell me what is this alla bout, and give me pointers on how to fix this issue? i am using iphoto 5.0.4. do i need to update to iphoto 06?

If iPhoto is your only problem, you should start with this:

  • Iphoto says 'loading photos' but nothing happens

When I open iphoto it says it is loading photos, but none of my albums or photos come up. They are still in the iphoto folder in my library, but can't get them up in iphoto. Nor can I import any new photos into iphoto.
Also some photos have been deleted from my iphoto folder in my library!!

    Christina
Here is the recommended first aid. Try them in order. You may not see a fix right away but you are cleaning up things that might have contributed to the problem:
Most likely because of updates or installs you need to:
    1. Restart your computer to repair the directory if needed.
    2. Run "Repair Permissions" from Disk Utility located in your Applications>Utilties Folder.
    3. Try iPhoto again. If it doesn't work then QUIT iPhoto.
    4. Your iPhoto preferences file may be corrupted.
(MAKE SURE you QUIT iPhoto first)
You will find it in your Home directory:
    (Home/your account) >Library>Preferences>com.apple.iPhoto.plist
Remove or trash the preference (.plist file) and restart iPhoto.
iPhoto will open like it was the first time
If it still doesn't work go on to these remedies, in order.
    5. Bad Album data?
    Old Toad says:
1 - move the Albums folder and the AlbumData.xml file from the Iphoto Library Folder in your Pictures folder to the desktop.
2 - launch iPhoto. It if launches successfully you probably have a corrupt album.
To locate the bad "apple", pun intended, do the following:
1 - move one of the individual album folders and it's associated data file into the new Albums folder that was created in the iPhoto Library folder.
2 - launch iPhoto. If it's successful do the same with the next album folder and data file. If iPhoto doesn't launch successfully, that's a bad one and remove it and the data file.
3 - repeat for each individual album folder in the old Albums folder.
    6. Rebuild Library
    QUIT IPHOTO FIRST
Relaunch while holding down the key combination below for your version
    Option+Shift IPHOTO 2
    CommandOptionShift IPHOTO 4
    Command+Option IPHOTO 5

  • I loaded photos to my new iPad2 using iCloud. The photos went in all jumbled up. Now I can't delete them or delete the albums. How can I delete?

I loaded photos to my new iPad2 using iCloud. The photos went in all jumbled up. Now I can't delete them or delete the albums. How can I delete?

Well, typically one of the fixes that I would suggest is to try to delete the waiting icons. WIFi in a public places like McDonalds, Starbucks, B&N, etc. is not the greatest and I would avoid those places for downloading and updating apps. But I do realize that not everybody has access to Wifi in their homes.
These are all things that have worked at one time or another for other users. Hopefull one of them will work for you. Just ignore whatever does not apply or anything that you have already tried.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again.
You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your app preferences and device settings again.
If all else fails, download the updates or the apps in iTunes on your computer and then sync the content to your iPad.
