90 min/120 min/ 150 min?

Surely I am missing something.
When I go to Compressor to deal with a movie and go to the popup menu with compression choices I am toally confounded as to which to choose. And I am finding no guidlines in Apple's documents. Where does one go to make informed decisions?
But the overriding confusion is caused by the multiple choices differentiated only by "90 minutes" "120 minutes" or "150 minutes" etc. Can someone please explain to me what they're talking about and why I would choose one over the others?
I'd really appreciate it

Alan:
Take breath!
On each preset you'll find a short description in the Inspector window:
DVD: Best Quality 90 minutes: Fits up to 90 minutes of video with Dolby Digital audio at 192 Kbps or 60 minutes with AIFF audio on a DVD-5.
DVD: Best Quality 120 minutes: Fits 120 minutes of video with Dolby Digital at 192 Kbps or 90 minutes with AIFF on a DVD-5.
DVD: Best Quality 150 minutes: Fits up to 150 minutes of video with Dolby Digital audio at 192 Kbps or 120 minutes with AIFF audio on a DVD-5.
The key factor to choose the right preset is the lenght in minutes of video you want to place in your DVD.
If you deep in the Inspector summary for each preset you'll find the difference between them is in the data rate (bitrate: to fit more minutes of video you must use a lower data rate, what means a lower video quality.
I hope it helps !

How can I transfer all my data from mac mini 120 Go to mac mini 500 Go ?

    Hello,
The likely best way would be to put the older one into Target mode...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1661
Then use Migration Assistant to migrate all your data & settings over.

  • Query goes from 3.5 min to 150 min after switch to 64 bit

I had Oracle 10.1.0.3.0 (32 bit) on Linux running a simple query, once per weekday, accessing tables in DB2 v8 on AIX M/F via Oracle Transparent Gateway (OTG) 9.2. The query took ~ 3.5 minutes to complete.
We have moved to Oracle 10.2.0.1.0 (64 bit) on 64 bit Linux. Now the same query takes ~ 150 min to complete. There are no errors or message I can find that tell me something is wrong. We fired the older 32 bit box back up and ran the query. It completed in 3 min 24 sec.
I suspect a compatibility issue between 64 bit Oracle and the older OTG but I don't even know where to start to look for that. Anyone have a suggestion or a similar tale of woe?

Thanks for the tip. I did get to the explain plans for both of these machines and while the order of execution was slightly different on each machine, I did not see where the CPU cost was different or where things were hanging up. I have included the reports for your perusal. The report for each box begins with the machine name, DT09FU04, DT09FU02 respectively:

  • Connect two external monitors to mini DP(using a mini DP to VGA adapter) and the VGA out at once

I am trying to  connect two external monitors to mini DP(using a mini DP to VGA adapter) and the VGA out at once. Windows recognize both monitors as well. But it dowsn't let me use all three monitors at once(see the below image). In the dropdown, it lists all three monitors. Problem is there are two active displays I can select.

The GPU(s) in your T400 (and most other laptop brands) will support two different displays concurrently.  If you want to support more than two different displays concurrently, you will need another GPU external to the T400.
Generally, if you want to use two external displays on a T400 you will nee dto use a docking station.
I have read messages on various fora on this topic and know that there are a number of ways of doing this, but as I have never had a need to do this myself I can't tell you how to go about it.

No-one can confirm it until there is an actual 2009 model mini to test. However, all the evidence so far indicates the new mini will support two displays.
    The page at http://www.apple.com/macmini/features.html includes:

what does connecting iPad mini to my Mac Mini  through Bluetooth do

There is nothing else you can do as regards the Mac. Bluetooth between a Mac and an iOS device works only for tethering so you can share the iOS device's cell connection. Otherwise, Bluetooth in an iPad is for connecting to peripherals such as headsets, in-car systems, and keyboards.

My question is that if I am using Mac and another friend of mine is using Ipad mini and her skpe isnt working and we want to share screens how can we do it through Ichat? Since on facetime screens cant be shared!

    Hi,
    You can't.
Messages - the replacement for iChat in Mountain Lion and beyond will  do Screen Sharing  but only to the accounts it did in iChat 5 and 6  (actually it includes iChat 4 as well)
That is to say in earlier version of iChat you could login to AIM and Jabber servers as well as enabling the Bonjour option to chat on your LAN.
All these will do Video and Audio only chats which in turn means they will Screen Share.
At iChat 6 an Yahoo option was added but it can only Text chat (it can't even send Files or Pics)
This means only the Internet able accounts that login in to AIM or to a Jabber server  can Video and therefore Screen Share.
The iMessages account will Invoke FaceTime if you use the Video icon during text chat.  (I.e. it is not Video inside the app like the AIM or Jabber accounts can do)
    NOTE.
AIM includes Apple Issued Apple ID as Valid AIM Screen Names.
Google Mail ID s can be used and Google Talk IDs with Messages as they run a Jabber server.
Facebook allow you to create a Chat ID (Facebook Chat ID) which is also a Jabber server.

  • Active directory intersite replication minimum polling interval is 15 min or 7.5 min ?

    in  MCITP 70-640 R2 Self-paced training kit , at page 593, we read :
"The minimum polling interval is 15 minutes. With this setting, and using Active Directory’s
default replication configuration, a change made to the directory in one site takes on average
seven and a half minutes to replicate to domain controllers in another site."
i don't underestand which one is true at last ? 15 min or  7.5 min ?
i wonder at my exercises i noticed that replication occured between sites at about that 7.5 min  and didn't take  15 min.
if that is 7.5 min , so what is the reason that they wrote 15 min ?

    at a maximum 15 min.
the so called average is 7,5 min <----- forget this!
remember the following as your rule of thumb: the minimum interval that can be configured is 15 min and the default is 180 min (3 hours). The interval is the max amount of time that needs to pass before the DCs (between sites) initiates inbound replication.
So it will take the period of the interval or less before replications starts

I restarted and BAM...Snow Leopard booted crazy fast and the mouse and keyboard worked instantly.
The System Profiler says "No FireWire ports were found."
So this tells me that the FW port is probably the culprit and is messing up the installation.
So how do I hack the Mountain Lion installer and tell it to ignore the FW port, which is obviously quite dead? Or is there something I can do to the Base system that is similar?

    Bunzez-
I agree.  Mine is 64gb, and the most warmth I notice seems to be where I was holding it.
The result of excess heat would be that its battery would run down faster than it should.  With a full charge, it should run at least eight hours, maybe ten.  Someone mentioned that their iPad charge went down ten percent per hour.
The iPad normally stays on all the time, and is put to sleep by pressing the Sleep button.  In the sleep mode, it draws extremely low current, so the battery does not run down for many days.  With yours in the sleep mode, does it still get hot?
Regardless, I think the display problem is reason enough to take it to the Apple Store Genius.  If there is no Apple Store near you, look for an Apple Authorized Repair Center.  There may be one in your city.  In the US, <United States>.  Outside the US, <http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1434>.

If you forgot the passcode, you'll have to restore it to remove the passcode, as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212.  If it is running iOS 7 with Find My iPhone enabled, you'll have to force it into recovery mode in order to restore it, as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808 (or erase it using Find My iPhone on icloud.com).

  • HT4623 whT is the differencebetween ipad mini mac ios with mini ipad without the ios.

What is the difference between apple mini ipad mac ios and mini ipad without mac ios?

The question doesn't make sense. There is no iPad without iOS.  If you are talking about an iPad Mini and a Mac Mini, then one is a small tablet while the other is a desktop computer.
