$900 for a 128gb Air a good deal?

Was looking to buy my first mac here soon, even thought about waiting for the new refresh, then came across a craigslist ad for a 13" macbook air 128 gb.
Ad says it was bought in Feb 2012 and hasnt been used yet. Looking to sell for $900.
Is this a good price for what could potentially be in mint condition? I havent arranged to see the computer in person, just wanted to know if this is worth pursuing.
Thanks.

It's a good deal, just good enough to be a scam so look out. CL is a cesspool.
A serious seller should have everything it came with including the box and a dated sales receipt. If the owner can't prove he really owns it, be highly suspicious it's stolen. If in doubt run away. If the seller registered it he must un-register it from My Support Profile. No one else can un-register it, not even Apple. If the seller did not register it then make sure no one else did - if it's registered to someone else and you confront the seller with that information, he will run away from you.
Run Apple Hardware Test, check for cracks in the glass, check the battery health using  > About this Mac > More Info > System Report. It should be close to 99% for a computer that "hasn't been used yet".
If everything checks out, buy it!

  • Is this macbook pro a good deal?

We were shopping on craigslist for a used macbook pro and came across a 2012 15" 2.4ghz i7 with 750 sata drive.. the guy selling is  letting it go for 1300, is that a good deal?

I would go with the previously suggested refurbish one.  This way, you will know that you are not purchasing a computer with some one else junk on it and if there is something wrong with it until after the purchase.  Also with Apple's refurbish Macs, you will have Apple's standard one year warranty plus Apple Care if you want to purchase it.

  • Good Deal for Macbook 2007?

A friend of mine is selling me his 2007 white macbook. I'm not too familiar with macbooks, so I wanted to get an idea if its worth $500. Here are the specs:
    13 inch white macbook
    intel core 2 duo
    2.13 ghz
    320 gb hard drive
    1.5 gb ram
running os x 10.6 snow leopard
    price : $500
Is this a good deal? Thank you guys so much for the help

Legally, in order to run the Mac OS on any Apple computer, the owner of the computer must also have the corresponding discs for that machine. All Apple computers come with 2 installation DVDs (except for the recent MacBook Airs, which have the OS on a USB stick) which are machine-specific and cannot be used with another Mac. The 2007 MacBook would have had Tiger or Leopard installed originally and then would have been upgraded to Snow Leopard.
If you have further questions or need more clarification, let me know!

  • What's a good deal for renewing my Broadband?

My phone and broadband contract is up for renewal soon.
Last time I  renewed my BB contact for 12 months, and the deal was as follows.
"Talk & Surf Plus" Package on option 1 at a cost of £14.99 per month, plus a one-off discount of £24.
The package includes unlimited anytime call plan, and also a new hub [which I did not ask for, and do not really need]
I do not do much heavy downloading of video or music and am not really interested in taking on BT Vision.
Can anyone offer advice as to what a good deal would be from BT for a further 12-18 month contract?

    Sorry to bump this.
Anyone got a good case and can tell me who made it?
    Cheers

  • HELP! Is a 2007 Macbook with no battery for $120 a good deal in 2014?

Hello. My son's school is getting rid of some 2007 Macbook Pros for $120, battery NOT included. Specs: OS 10.5.8, HD 160 GB, CPU Intel Duo core 2.13 GHz, Memory 2GB. Is this a good deal in 2014? Thanks for the input!

You need more details about the model to get an estimate of the battery cost.
You will have to get a battery from a third party, i.e. not Apple since they do not stock batteries for older models.

    Numbers ($19.99)

    OpenOffice (donation-supported)

  • Is this a good deal for a REFURBISHED macbook pro

It is a 2008 15″ MacBook Pro with 2.6GHz processor, 4GB RAM, and 200GB hard drive. It also come with mountain lion 10.8.2 and programs Adobe CS6 Master Collection, MS Office 2011, iLife 2011, iWork 09, Final Cut Studio 3, Final Cut Pro X. It comes with a 90 day warranty and is also triple bootable with linux and windows. All for 600 bucks. Is it a good deal.

You want to be careful with 2008 MacBook Pro laptops. If they have the Nvidia 8600 video card they will ultimately fail even if the card has been replaced.

  • Preparing for trying to get a good new deal

My current contract expired last September. I don't think I got a particularly good deal and was immediately a bit frustrated that I had rather too soon accepted what was being offered. I currently pay about £58 per month for Line rental, total broadband, anytime calls and unlimited BT vision.
I have looked at the prices being offered to new customers and, ignoring the free period, I see Broadband and calls for £16, anytime add on £7, TV essentials £5 and line rental(paid in advance) of £10.75 per month. Does this meaan that I should be able to get these services( I want to downgrade to vision essentials) for £38.75 as an existing user? We do not have infinity so you view is not relevant. Could I even get a better deal?
Finally, my understanding is that the new BT Sport channels will be included as part of the above package - not HD of course.
    Thanks

Well, I was offered more or less what new custoners are getting, except for the free period, so I was happy enough with that. Frustratingly the annual line rental paid up front has TODAY increased by £12 to £141 ,but at least they knocked £1 a month off BT essentials for 12 months so it evened up. Having gone through everything, I didn't really feel like  going into ' haggling mode' but I doubt I could have done much better - 12 month contract required.
Of more interest and some disappointment is that I was told that, as I was not in an Infinity area, my Bt box( Black vision +) would not be capable of getting BT Sport via the aerial for 1 August and maybe a while after. I was told they were working on getting BTSport via the aerial and that you would need to be in an area which receives 4 Music and Viva ( I think I am) but, even then, you may need a You View box.
The only option will be to get it via the internet( and play throught the TV if you want to )

  • Okay, so i was on craigslist and found a guy who would trade me his  fairly new Macbook 2008 model for my brand new iPad 2. Is this a good deal and should i go throuh with it?

Okay, so i was on craigslist and found a guy who would trade me his  fairly new Macbook 2008 model for my brand new iPad 2. Is this a good deal and should i go throuh with it?

A deal is only a good deal if you get the best value out of the deal.
If you need a MacBook more than an iPad or an iPad more than a MacBook, then it's a good deal.
Comes down to what value the use of the product is to you.

  • Is there a good texting app for a Macbook air that will sync with my iPhone and iPad iMessage and SMS?

is there a good texting app for a Macbook air that will sync with my iPhone and iPad iMessage and SMS?

    Hey bishopcheen,
Great question! Apple has announced that these features are coming in iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite. For more information, check out the “Messages” section of this page:
    Apple - OS X Yosemite - Apps
    http://www.apple.com/osx/preview/apps/
Messages gives you so many ways to start a conversation. When your iPhone is nearby, you can send a text message from your Mac to groups of friends, even if they use SMS. Or send a photo of your epic karaoke birthday party, then follow it up with a Soundbite audio clip of your encore performance. With Messages, it’s not just what you say, it’s however you want to say it.
Now every message on your iPhone appears on your Mac.
Messages on your Mac has always been a great way to stay in touch. But friends without iMessage couldn’t be part of the conversation. Well, now they can be. All the SMS and MMS messages you receive on your iPhone now appear on your Mac. So you can text any friend without picking up your iPhone. And the conversation stays up to date across all your devices.
iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite are coming this fall. I hope you are as excited as I am!
    Thanks,
    Matt M.
