9100 / 9105 Keyboard

I understand that the 9105 will have 'standard' 123 etc keys whilst the 9100 will have the 'mini' qwerty keys.
I'm currently using an 8110 which has been fantastic for my needs but is now a bit ragged around the edges  - the 9100 seems like a perfect upgrade but the lack of qwerty will stop me upgrading.
Will the 9100 be available in the UK at some point?

Don't know for sure, no UK carriers have announced it yet. But it is very very likely one will.
Meanwhile, if you must have a QWERTY keyboard, get another BlackBerry, like the 9700.
Not in the near future they won't, I have spoke to someone at Orange, O2, Vodafone, Three, Carphone Whouse all of who are getting the 9105. Someone told me that Europe is getting the 9105 only, elsewhere in the world will get the 9100.
As I think the 9105 looks like "love child between a berry and a dumb phone" © Yandar I won't be getting one to replace my 8120 and I don't know anyone who will, they are all like me, waiting impatiently for the 9100 to arrive.
Please get your act togther RIM.

  • Pearl 9105 Keyboard Fault or Software Problem?

    Hi,
I have had my BB Pearl 9105 for about 3 months now, it my first BB and I am overly impressed with it as it does everything I need and more.  However I have noticed over time that when I am writing text (either email, or SMS or anything that uses text input), I find that when I push a key once, the equivalent letter or number will output multiple times.
For instance if I set numlock on and press the number "2" once, it will write "222".  This sometimes happens on other letters on the keyboard also, but the worst is mainly when using key 2.
I have done a reset by removing the battery when the device is on, and that temporarily fixes the problem, however after a couple of hours it goes back to outputting multiple letters or numbers.
Has anybody else seen this?  I would have thought this problem was actually something physically wrong with the keyboard, but it moves around randomly and can happen to any of the keys or multiple keys at once, which suggests a software problem to me?
Any help would be much appreciate. My details are below.  Thanks and regards,
    Jamie
    BB Pearl 3G 9105
    V5.0.0.689 (Platform 6.2.0.54)

It sounds like what I have seen multiple times on a device with moisture damage.
Even sitting on a bathroom counter during a hot steamy shower or bath can cause keyboard and trackball problems UNTIL properly dried out.
It really is more common than you think.
    1. Remove the battery immediately!! Do not attempt to turn on your BlackBerry.
    2. Let the device dry in a warm, dry place for 3 to 5 days* (see below)
    3. DO NOT "check it each day" by placing the battery in. Leave it be to dry completely. This takes time. Replacing the battery to check it can only damage it more (moisture + electrical current = disaster).
    3. If the device is warm after the drying period, allow it to cool to room temperature before placing the battery back in.
*Suggestions on drying your BlackBerry in a warm place (open, with the battery out):
Place the BB in a container of dry UNcooked rice, and then you might also place it in any of the locations mentioned below.
On top of any dry heat emitting electronic component: TV cabinet or CRT, LCD, cable TV/Satellite converter box or plasma monitor
On the dashboard of your car on a sunny day

  • Where to buy the Pearl 9105 in the US?

I've been searching all over the blackberry site as well as all major service providers , and I can't find anyone who sells the new Blackberry Pearl 9105 in the US  (particularly the Boston area)
Has anyone managed to find it? It seems like it is popular in the UK but hasn't been introduced to the US yet?
Thank you for any help you can give me!

Describing the 9105 as "popular" is interesting.  European carriers, in their wisdom, are only supplying the 9105.  The 9100 is not an option.
The place I work "upgraded" me (and other colleagues) to the 9105 and, without ANY exception, everybody hates the T9 keyboard.
After 3+ years of having the compact qwerty keyboard, the change to the T9 keyboard is ho.ri.ble.
I have managed to commadeer an 8110 with a temperimental keypad and awful battery life from the "unused kit" cupboard, and I am happier using that than the 9105 - despite the keyboard problems, slower performance, lack of multimedia keys, 3G and Wi-Fi.
I WISH I could turn my 9105 into a 9100.  If I had a Stateside mate (i.e. person I know and trust) who would swap with me, I'd do it in the blink of an eye.
    BB good. T9 bad.

    Hi,
I am using EBS 11.5.10.2 and 9i Database. ( Single Node ) , on Linux platform
I want to change port form Port 1521 to 1526 on the Server
Can some please guide me how to do this.
    Thanks,

There is a port pool calculator in the Rapid Clone FAQ for 11i. The easiest way to change an existing port pool is to vi $CONTEXT_FILE in both oracle and applmgr environments, globally change the ports, and run adconfig on both database and applications with the applications down. Restart the database and listener when you are done.

  • Cannot open back-up file on my pc

Problem: Cannot open my file with backed-up contacts on my PC.
I copied my contacts from my BB Pearl 9100/9105 to my PC. When I try to open the file I get the following message:" Windows can't open Blackberry Pearl 9100-9105 (11-7-2013.bbb. Windows needs to know what program you want to use to open it.
! There is a "padlock" nest to the file name.!

It did connect successfully with the BB software and my contacts were transferred to a file in my C drive. However, I cannot open this file, that is the problem.

  • Pearl 3G Maps (Cannot reinstall)

Greetings all, I have been running into problems with my BlackBerry Maps application, where the GPS would be very slow to get a fix. Long story short, I have decided to click on the blackberry button with BlackBerry Maps selected, and selected "delete" (effectively, removing the BB Maps application).
I then tried to reinstall BlackBerry Maps with no success. I tried the following:
      - searching for it through the AppWorld, but didn't find it
      - tired the instructions here: http://na.blackberry.com/eng/devices/features/blackberry_maps_download.jsp Using the instructions from the link, I sent an email to my device.
The email contains a link which, was supposed to install the BlackBerry browser. Instead, it installed something called "lbs_ribbon" instead of BlackBerry Map. How can I get BB Maps back onto the device?
    Carrier:  Wind Mobile Canada
    Device: Pearl 3G
Last I checked, the BlackBerry.com website does not contain the firmware for this device which means that I cannot reflash my phone.  There does not seem to be a way of notifying BlackBerry that they forgot to post the stock firmware for this model of the phone, for Wind Mobile (Canada), on the website (http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp).

    hello,
concerning the process of OS publication, here is the schedule :
RIM publishes blank OS to carriers
Wind Mobile decides to test some blank OS
Wind Mobile decides to publish some OS after branding them to Wind Mobile so that no device not sold by Wind Mobile can use it
There are many OS already available, I have made a list available here (though I have not updated it recently) :
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Pearl-3G-BlackBerry/BlackBerry-Pearl-3G-9100-9105-...
if you want to get one from Wind Mobile, you can call the Wind Mobile support and ask them when they will decide to publish a recent OS.
that being said, you can also install an OS published by another carrier than Wind Mobile, you just have to follow this how-to :

  • Blackberry Pearl 9105 3G keyboard / keypad replacement

    Hello!
I've just bought Blackberry Pearl 9105 in England. I live in Russia so I would like to replace original english keyboard with russian one (OEM russian Blackberry keyboard ordered in China).
Can you advice some manual or video showing how to do this? Can't find something helpful yet...
    Thank you!
PS. Using Blackberry 9105 (not 9100) with T9 keyboard. Before I found some video showing keyboard replacement on 9100, but the construction of 9105 is different so I afraid of breaking the device.
    Solved!

    Solved it by myself.
Here is an instruction - it is quite easy.
Unfortunately, my chinese russian keypad looked very bad as compaired with original one... Espeсially backlightened... So I left original one.

  • Touchsmart 9100 use onscreen keyboard ctrl+alt+del to login

I have a Touchsmart 9100 and I can't figure out how to ctrl+alt+del to login to my network using the onscreen keyboard. I have it wallhung and will not be using the keyboard or mouse.

Greetings, Thanks for the reply. I'm not trying to use Ctrl-Alt-Del to clear anything, I'm not trying to use Ctrl-Alt-Del at all. Here's what I'm attempting:
Fire up a VM, log into the VM, run the customer's VPN
    RDC to the customer's server
Run the management app on the customer's server that needs elevated privileges
In the RDC session to the customer's server:
I get a UAC dialog, asking if "I want to complete this action by entering my credentials on the authentic Windows logon screen" or "I don't want to complete this action"
I click the first option ("I want to complete...")
I get a second UAC dialog saying "Press Control+Alt+End" to enter your credentials"
I'm not able to press Control+Alt+End and have it go to the server in the RDC session, the VM is capturing it first; I HAVE tried it using the onscreen keyboard in the RDC session also without success
(I took screen caps of the dialogs, but, I've pulled an all-nighter working on another issue and couldn't seem to figure out how to insert them here... doh!)
    So - no Ctrl-Alt-Del
Next time I need to get to the client's server I'll have to check the settings for keyboard shortcut forwarding. Thanks for the suggestion.

  • Keyboard weirdness with MSI Pro266TD Master (MS-9105)

I've been having problems with this board since I installed in a month or so ago.  It works beautifully for the most part (handles dual CPU *much* more stably than the IWill DVD266u-RN it replaced). However, there's a persistent problem such that, when the system has been on for awhile, the keyboard gets "confused" and into a state where the shift key is stuck on (even if hasn't been pressed), and it's impossible to type lower case or unshifted characters.  This also extends to problems with the mouse where clicking on one item might wrongly select a whole group.
This happens anywhere from a few minutes to 12 hours of operation.  Often times, if I reboot after this has occured, the keyboard is nonresponsive, and I have to cycle power once or twice until the system will act normally.
My normal configuration has the keyboard running through a KVM switch, but I have reproduced the problem even when directly connecting to the PC, bypassing the KVM switch.  The problem also doesn't occur with another PC connected to the same keyboard, so I don't think it's a hardware problem with that.
I've tried upgrading the BIOS to 1.2 since the notes indicated that it had a fix that was keyboard related (though not exactly the same symptom).  I've tried reseating the connector, checking for bent pins, etc.  The system will work fine for awhile, and I can not link the start of the problem to any application, process, action, game, or anything else.  The power supply is the same one as I used to use with the Iwill, which never manifested this problem.
It's seemingly random at to when
    it starts.
Anyone run into this problem?  Any ideas on how to fix it?
Any help is appreciated.  System details are below.  Thanks.
