9105 Key pad problems

I got my peal 9105 a few months ago and chose it mainly because its a BB and the fact that I don't do that much texting.
However I have had so growing problems with it recently.
Some of the keypad buttons seem to be growing in sensitivity, I can press a button once as you would normally and suddenly 2-5 letters can appear on the screen! Does any one else have this problem? It is extremely annoying sometimes, especially when typing on it is already quite slow and is slowed down even more by having to edit what you just typed.
I know this one isn't to do with the hardware but BB predictive typing is much worse than others I've used in the past.
Also, is an os update ever coming to the pearl? Every other BB I've seen has a much newer system.

I have a 9100 and had the same problem. I asked on forums and people said it could be the pad under the keys. People also said to slow the key rate down. I upgraded to OS6 and it removed much of the issue. I do find the true type has degraded since I got the phone. I am tempted to replace the pad but I hope there is another fix.

Key Pad Problem with my Curve 8520 & the HIGH COST of owning a BB

I used to keenly watch RIM and its progress and how it created a niche for itself and how it started successfully fighting the goliaths who were entering into this niche.
This love culminated in me buying a Curve 8520 through Airtel, my GSM service provider against the wishes of my wife. I paid a huge (per my standards) Rupees (Rs) 12500 for the instrument.
This Monday, while I was responding to a text message I realised that 2 of the keys ( R & H) are not responding. I thought this is a temporary glitch and I switched off and switched on to realise that this has not changed. Added to the problem was that the faulty key is part of the PIN and the device cannot be activated.
I contacted my service provider who quoted Rs 7000 for repairing the key. Since I am maintaining a strict diet and a healthy lifestyle I did not get a cardiac arrest though I could feel a numbness in my head when I heard the estimate.
When I told the person on the other side of the phone that this is unfair...He also agreed and said that many customers have complained about the high cost of ownership and that RIM might reduce their prices in Jan 2012.. But I can't hold on without using the instrument till jan 2012
Now I remember that my car (Ford Fiesta) was also bought during the same month as my BB phone. Let me confess that I have not spend even Rs 3000 on maintaining that car so far despite me driving 80 kilometers 5 days a week..

Sorry for the rambling...Coming to my request.
I cannot afford to spend Rs 7000 for a repair and I expect RIM to do this free (why should key pad of a carefully used phone fail in 14 months) or a maximum of Rs 500. While I love the features and by now I am sort of addicted to this pet of mine, I am also practical enough to realise that I should not spend out of my means.....So I will have to switch back to a normal phone....
Is there any other way out ?

OK, it may not be a powered USB socket on the PC. You will need to check you have the right driver. One way to check the connection is in the settings in the BB under memory there is a mass storage mode support which needs ot be on and the auto enable mass storage mode when enabled when connected. This will usually allow you to see the BB like a external hard drive or camera in windows explorer when you connect it.
If that fails check in the PC device manager for an appropriate device with a problem - usually has a yellow exclamation mark next to it

Nokia 5800,key pad problem

The key pad is set to lock after 1 min, sometimes it doesn`t . it happened 3 times and only if I restart the phone, it gets to normal. Is my phone defective. Should I return it?

What firmware version is on your 5800? If note the latest, try upgrading to see if it fixes the issue.
If not, then contact a Nokia repair center or the retailer/operator from where you bought it.

Why can't I sign in to vtok, I cannot access the key pad on my iPad when I try to sign in to vtok. I was able to do it yesterday.

I am unable to log in on vtok this morning. I was able to do so till yesterday. The key pad does not pop up to type my user I'd and password.

Update: Managed to fix this by going into Settings > Safari, then under Privacy & Security i changed 'Block Cookies' from 'Always' to 'From Third parties and advertisers'
Not sure how the setting was changed from its default but yeah.
After this I was able to sign straight in with no problems!

Numeric Key Pad is not working. How do I fix this?

FireFox is an excellent browser but I am now unable to use the Numeric Key pad and at times the whole keyboard will not work until I reboot.
Where is it that I would change whatever settings to use the Numeric Key pad.
The Key Pad works fine otherwise.
I assume the keymap has been remapped?

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Does Lion support use of a 10 key pad keyboard?

Ever since I upgraded to Lion the 10 key pad on my keyboard isn't working. I've tried both a wireless apple keyboard and a wired Apple keyboard but neither work. Am I missing something or is there a problem?

I think the problem are in the "universal access" preferences configuration. Try to disable the "mouse keys" in Mouse and TrackPad tab.

HT5636 I am using an Apple keyboard with numeric key pad.

I have a new Mac OSX 10.9.2. I am using Bootcamp to run WIndows 8.1.
I have just connected a new USB Apple keyboard with numeric key pad.
All works fine in OSX. But in windows the numeric numbers on the keypad wont work.
Numlock appears to work, but nothing happens when the number keys are pressed.
The keys / * - +and entre all work ok. Just not the numbers.
MIcrosoft SUPPORT REFUSED to help me because i am using a mac, they claim it is a hardware problem.

I would look for a program which would display the ascii value of typed letters
if i had the letter the key send one can assign that value to any other function one wish

if the program would get no ascii value from the num keyboard then I suppose ms were correct

Did you (or someone else) physically open the laptop case?
If you did, then some cables might have gone loose inside.
If you didn't, for the card reader, check if appropriate device drivers are installed in windows device manager.
for the numeric keypad, first tap once on the NUM LOCK key and check.
If this doesn't solve the problem, boot to "Safe mode", and check.

E52's auto key pad lock activate criteria?

I've the auto key pad lock activated on E52 some time ago. It works whenever the phone is showing the home screen. But it does not work if the screen is away from home (for example showing Contacts, Message, Menu, etc etc). Can that be corrected (some setting somewhere?) or it's an oversight in Nokia firmware?

basically, the auto key pad will not work if there is an active application at the front... it will go into power saver mode or standby only... i havent come across any setting in the E52 yet where this can be changed.. i dont think this is a problem though..

Why does my key pad vanishes or doesn't appear at all when I try to upload a comment?

I usually upload my comments to some websites. Especlly hpathy.com but whenever I try that with my Android, using Firefox the key pad disappears suddenly and refuse to cooperate again. Why is this so? Please can't you fix the problem?

Intermittent key pad functionality

Hi any ideas on this one. I have a 6220 Classic, about 6 months old (Orange Network) and the key pad has intermittent functionality! Sometimes the keys work and sometimes not. I this a known problem and is there a solution?
I would welcome any suggestions.

Unfortunately, the "battery level" always says 100%.. And there's no low level battery warning as with the mouse.
so i swop batteries with my mouse just to make sure.
So if your wireless key pad battery level is below 20% and you are running multiple programs... should you need to restart your computer you'll have problems..
Can someone at " Apple " have a look at this issue Please..
So far i've found if i un pair my keyboard before replacing batteries I can then pair up again but i must switch bluetooth on first...
