How do a make an overlay transparency to use in sports video to highlight a player. If anyone can help me please email me at [email protected]

I am using premiere pro 2.0. Yes I'm dealing with moving images. But I want to us it just in the beginning. I would freeze the frame with the player highlighted with the overlay transparency. I have adobe elements 2 photo.

  • RGB Logo uses Overlay transparency... need in CMYK for print but color changes in overlay

    I am working with a logo someone else created in RGB using the Overlay transparency. When I convert it to CMYK just one area seems to "change color".
    I tried inserting both versions here - but it isn't working too well. Basically, in the image below the outline of the "scales" appears darker in the CMYK version for printing. Any ideas on how I can adjust it to print in the same vibrant color the RGB is showing?

    fill in info RGB is light (like on your screen) and adds more light when mixed, CMYK are pigments and adds more color or multiplies, when mixed

  • Overlays : Transparent Background (and more)

    When I want to include, say, each image's filename when I print them, the only way is a white bar at the bottom of the image. That's the way photo info overlay works now.
    I'd like this function to behave like Identity plate overlay : transparent, and over the image. And to be able to position it wherever over the image.
    But, on the other hand, the identity overlay needs an improvement. To be able to position it, and scale it, relative to image size, or print size, automatically. And this would be needed for the "file name overlay" I mentioned before... so maybe the whole overlay feature needs a rework.

      How can I make a picture transparent, use it for a background
    When you open a picture file in PSE, that is the background layer.
    and add text on top of it?
    Use the type tool to add the text. The text will be on a new layer, above the background layer.

  • I need to graph data and stack the plots to create 3 graphs, how do I plot more than 1 data line on each graph

    I currently use a code heavy solution thats clunky and need to refine the graphing part. For simplicity I want to use the waveform chart and its "Stack Plots" option. However I cannot see how to collect 2 or 3 data streams and display them on 1 of the stacked plots.
    The final verson will have 3 stacked plots, the top plots needs 3 data streams, The middle & bottom plots require 2 data streams.
    Help Appreciated

    Hi,
    Sometimes the Synchronous Display option makes a difference (right
    mouse>advanced>Synchronous Display). Or while running, right click>Smooth
    Updates. Fiddle around with them, sometimes unexpected settings has the best
    performance (only four combinations anyway).

  • Email review creates workflows file size that makes Acrobat 9 unbearably slow.

    I have been using the email review features in Acrobat pro version 9.3.1. All was going fine until, apparently, my workflows file got to around 1.5mb. If I understand correctly this is the file that Review Tracker uses to track PDF emailed for review.
    The problem is Acrobat becomes unbearably slow to open and operate.
    I narrowed down the reason by opening Acrobat with no plugins loaded and it operated fine. Then by enabling and disabling various plugins I found that when any plug-in having something to do with the commenting and tracking process was enabled acrobat again became unbearably slow. Through searching on this forum I found the workflows file that is created for tracking email reviews. I discovered with all plug-ins enabled and with the workflow file removed acrobat operated fine when I put the file back it again opens and operates unbearably slow.
    So I know how to make Acrobat operate correctly by removing the Workflows file. Acrobat will create a new one if I start another review. The big problem is I have lost all my tracking on previous reviews.
    I was wondering if anyone else might have had a similar problem when the Workflows file became larger than 1.5mb or so?
    Does anyone know of a way I can keep my previous email reviews and still have acrobat operate correctly?
    I also wonder if this will happen again?
    Thank you for your time and knowledge.

    Flattening should be expected to make files bigger, much bigger in the worst case. It is rarely a way to reduce size, though sometimes it will be - it all depends on what is in the file.
    An example where it could reduce size is where a series of images are overlayed transparently. This would end up being a single one. There may be cases where lots of layers get consolidated into something simpler, but if the layers were vector and the result is raster it won't.
    So, flattening might be a useful tool, but it's best to try it and test the result.
    Better still to stop the proprietary software from choking... !

  • JLayeredPane - keeping all contained components filling the layeredPane

    I'm having some troubles keeping contained components inside a JLayeredPane so they're all filling the pane.
    The desired effect I want is to have a region of the window that contains two panels -- one for standard view/editing, and an overlayed transparent panel above it, which, at times, will show icons overlayed over the base panel -- basically an OSD layer over a panel that will be showing video.
    I've gone the approach of using a JLayeredPane and adding the base panel, but I'm having troubles getting it to make sure it fills the entirety of the JLayeredPane.
    I thought of several approaches:
    1.) Set up the JLayeredPane with a BorderLayout, and set the components all to CENTER, but then I realized that with BorderLayout, each position can only have one component assigned to it.
    So, this approach is a no-go. :(
    2.) Set up a ComponentListener on the JLayeredPane, listening for componentResized, and resizing the contained panels to event.getComponent().getSize(). This approach did result in a resize happening on the component I was testing, but alas, it resizes it to the original, pre-resized size! Reading the docs, and what others have said on the msg board, this seems to be going against what I'm reading and hearing about.
    Does anyone have any ideas for me? I'm all ears.
    Is there a radically different approach I could take?
    What I'm going after is kinda like the glassPane feature on a Frame, but I'm not working with a frame, just one panel inside the frame of my main application window.. And I'd like it so I could encapsulate the OSD panel in it's own derived class -- that's what I'm doing right now -- so I can have custom methods for manipulating the OSD.

    For this type of situation, I usually subclass JLayeredPane and override the doLayout() method. In there, assuming you want to have everything on it's layer fill the layer it's on, just set it's bounds to (0, 0, w, h) with the width/height of the layered pane itself. Aha! That worked like a charm! Just what I was after. I need to get more comfortable altering the inner-workings of swing components through subclassing.
    If you need something more advanced, you'd have to have a way to determine which components should go where/what size.Nope -- I didn't need to subclass in this case -- I want each and every item in the JLayeredPane to fill the entirety of the container. I sorta figured that there should be a relatively easy solution to it, but I hadn't been able to figure out how, and googling it up didn't seem to result in any useful information on the subject.
    Thank you very much bsamieri!
    Here's exactly what I ended up doing:
    package com.tripleplayint.newvideopreviewermockup;
    import java.awt.Component;
    import javax.swing.JLayeredPane;
    * A panel widget that allows components to be layered on top of one another,
    * where each component fills the entirety of this container.
    * This is only useful when all but the lowest layer is set transparent, as
    * the highest opaque layer will obscure any layers below it.
    * @NOTE If one wants to move the layers to choose which one is visible, your
    * better option is to use a JPanel with the CardLayout.
    * @author kkyzivat
    public class FilledLayeredPane extends JLayeredPane {
         * Layout each of the components in this JLayeredPane so that they all fill
         * the entire extents of the layered pane -- from (0,0) to (getWidth(), getHeight())
        @Override
        public void doLayout() {
            // Synchronizing on getTreeLock, because I see other layouts doing that.
            // see BorderLayout::layoutContainer(Container)
            synchronized(getTreeLock()) {
                int w = getWidth();
                int h = getHeight();
                for(Component c : getComponents()) {
                    c.setBounds(0, 0, w, h);
    }

  • Info & mini guile (down arrow) takes up too much screen area

    Info & "mini guide" are overlayed on "opaque" box and take up almost half the height. That's not acceptable.
    In earlier version, they were overlayed transparently and took up small area.
    There's a lot of area wated at the bottom with no information. Either reduce area, mainly height it blocks or show full channel video in remaining uppper unblocked area in reduced size, as done in cases of full guide and channel guide.

    I agree. Too much inefficient waste of space that could be eliminated or filled with more useful content.

  • CPU Usage - Whats Normal

    I purchased another mac and a new copy of FCS2 and got all that running without any issues the last few days;
    What I'm seeing is a little odd, and was looking for some guidance/opinions on what may or may not be an issue;
    I'm running the 8 core @ 3GHz - currently I have only the one HD in it, but according the Activity Monitor thats only peaking at 2MB/s and the average while I'm testing is well below 1.5MB/s
    I have an odd memory config, its 32GB, using 8x4GB Kits - exact same memory - apple says only 16GB is supported, the system sees 32GB, the memory monitor reports 29GB free - Apple Store guys said it was a waste of money, but would work no issues.
    I'm running a preview render on a 45 Min video, that is HDV 60i, the entire time line needs to be rendered for an overlay/transparency;
    I'm also running a compressor job on a copy of the source 45 min video hdv 60i and compressor is converting that to a SD DVD file, using the apple preset for 90 min video.
    I was wondering why the CPU (combined 8 cores) doesnt go anywhere past 60% with the workload thats being requested.
    Hard Drive should have lots of room, and memory doesn't seem to be an issue...
    I was wondering if there was something that could help drive up performance (ie, for FCS and or compressor to use more CPU time to get things done quicker)
    As a side note, I ran before I started both tasks, the CPU count was about 40% average usage.
    Any advice would be helpful.
    Thanks in advance;

    FCP is a 32bit application which means it doesn't make use of more than 4gb in real world terms. You have 28gb of RAM that does nothing for you.
    To make more effective use of compressor, look into virtual clustering.

  • Can background color vary from page to page ?

    Hi, all.
    As I am working on a book I am trying to find a way to design pages with different background colors. This was fairly easy to do in Lightroom but I haven't yet found a way to do the same in Aperture.
    I would like to assign different background colors - primarily black, white and gray - to different pages of my book according to their content.
    How can I manually assign different background colors to book pages ?
    Thank you in advance,

    In the "Edit Layout" mode you can add additional photo boxes (using the "+"-button) and resize them to cover the whole background. Then send them behind the other photo boxes by using the "send backward" and "send forward" buttons in the upper left corner of the toolbar.
    In this case, does Aperture support layers ? Can I place an object on a page and then place another either over or under it ?
    If you mean layers as in Photoshop or Gimp, where you can compose images by overlaying transparent layers, then the answer is "no", for Aperture does not support operations involving alpha channels (if you import an original image with added alpha, Aperture will maintain it, e.g. in watermarks, but generally Aperture is not a program for graphics compositing.

  • Iweb gallery page

    I'm trying to set up a gallery page on my website. The thumbnails and links work fine on iweb, but when I publish the site in safari, clicking on a gallery thumbnail automatically starts a slide show of the gallery page, instead of linking to the page the thumbail represents. I've removed the "start slide show" button from the gallery page, but that makes no difference.
    How can I get the thumbnails to link to their respective pages instead of a slide show of the gallery images?

    The manual way to do this is to overlay transparent (1% opacity) shapes over the thumbnails and link these shapes to the respective photo pages.
    However, there is a more elegant and more flexible way of doing this that does not require the use of the photo template page (for the gallery page). Check out this entry in the .Mac Blog...
    http://www.mac.com/web/en/Tips/013C4180-4787-4847-BAAB-319222AFC652.html
    I think this may get you closer to what you want with less effort. You DO have to have your photos organized into albums in iPhoto. And you CANNOT be using a photo template page to do this.

  • Transparency problem with animated gif within AJAX overlay

    Hello all,
    I have designed and animated a loading spinner in Photoshop CS3, which needs to sit within an Ajax overlay, with transparency set to 75.
    I tried exporting the spinner as an animated gif with a transparent background (using Save for Web), but it gave the animation a pixelated outside edge. Does anybody know how to remedy this?
    As the Ajax overlay is semi-transparent, I tried exporting the animated gif with a black background and transparency set to 75%. I ticked the transparency box in the export window, but once it is loading in the Ajax it doesn't seem to be transparent (see here: http://www.chrisgartside.co.uk/flash/Screenshot.jpg)
    Any help is very much appreciated.
    Best wishes,
    ruth.

    I forgot to mention that the Ajax pop-up is fired up from a Flash gaming applet.
    Thanks very much in advance.

  • Dark transparent window overlayed all windows

    There is a Dark Transparent 'window' that has overlayed it self on the screen. It is in the top Right Corner and I can not make it disappear...
    Any ideas?
    Before I start tearing apart my system?
    cheers.

    Amagine,
    Is it LCD or CRT?
    Could be the monitor:
    1. Try it on another system!
    If all else fails.
    2. Try going into ColorSync Utility and playing around with the color settings and see what happens.
    Try changing the resolution and colors, also if there are multiple Hz settings try changing them and playing around with that.
    3.Still there? Try reseating the video card. No dice with that, and the same deal on another system then it's the monitor. If it's LCD it's probably the monitor.
    Do it in whatever order is easier for you. I just felt like numbering them.

  • Video Avatar Overlay with Transparent background

    I am wanting to have a video avatar person walk out on my site with only body of the person display and everything else transparent to show the background behind. I really just need to know where to start after I get the video edited and knock out the green screen. I don't know what program to use to convert the video and covert to a format that will display on IPhone and IPad. (HTML5)? I know is is a long request, but I just haven't seen any Avatar's on any muse sites as far as tutorials go. I really want to overlay the avatar on top on a Lightbox item. Just to summarize, I do know how to shoot and edit the video and key out background, I need to know what adobe program to use to convert the video to a format that will display on iPhone and iPad etc... Any help will me appreciated.

    I've not used the software, as I said a quick google threw it up. From looking at their further screens (http://www.increditools.com/flash_video_studio/features.php#flash8alpha) and (http://www.increditools.com/flash_video_studio/samples.php#flash8alpha) a probable workflow would be to create an original in PRE against your green screen and export this as DV (for standard resolution) or HDV (for HiDef). Once in the Flash software it is probably then just a case of using an eyedropper to turn your green screen transparent.
    However your best option would be to install it and play around. Looking at their FAQ, similarly to the PRE trial, it installs as a trial version that will place a watermark across your finished video.
    If you do try it out please be sure to post back here about its effectiveness - it may help others.

  • Color overlay on opaque pixels of transparant image

    Hi everyone!
    I'm having a little problem here... I have loaded a gif image (a bufferedimage) in my program and I would like to have a color overlay on it. However, the overlay should only reside on the opaque pixels and not on the transparant parts of the image.
    I have looked for about an hour on this board to find the solution to my problem, but I haven't found anything useful. I did find the following, but it's not for a bufferedimage :(
    int pixels[][] = grabPixels(sprite);
         // 2) Place the opaque pixels in a polygon
         Polygon poly = new Polygon();
         for (int y = 0; y < spriteH; y++) // y coordinate
              for (int x = 0; x < spriteW; x++) // x coordinate
                   if (pixels[y][x] != TRANSPARENT) {
                        poly.addPoint(x,y);
         }This code creates a polygon with the opaque pixels of the image I think. Too bad it's not for a bufferedimage!
    Thanks ahead!
    Jens

    Thanks, Randy. That's ingenious, but it doesn't seem to work very well, since the finished image looks like Frankenstein's monster, with half the guy's face looking one way and the other half another way. But ingenious.
    I don't mind using the limit effect if that is the best way to deal with my little problem. Just trying to get a consensus on what to do, after I put a contract out on this shooter.
    Thanks.

  • Re: Exporting Gradient Overlays w/ Transparency

    I am currently using photoshop CS5,
    I have a layer that is a vector mask over a solid color. The fill of the layer is black, so when i set it to screen it's transparent. I then have a gradient overlay effect applied to the layer that fades from a solid color to a transparency. There is no blending mode applied to the gradient overlay, so it shows up as normal. It looks exactly how i want it to look!
    The problem is when i try to flatten this layer, or export this layer as a PNG. The black from the fill shows up where it's supposed to be transparent, even though it's not otherwise visible. If i try to delete the fill all together, and use use a transparent block to overlay my gradient, it won't work, as there is nothing for the gradient to overlay on. If i try to make the gradient using the gradient tool and then using the vector shape layer, it is imprecise, and i know of no way to control how the gradient is applied, other than guessing with the mouse. I have a bunch of these shapes that need to stack and use the exact same gradient alignment, and i need to be able to export them as png's. If i make them in illustrator and port them over to photoshop, there is still an issue with pixels smearing along the edges of my shapes.
    Here's an example, the appropriate fading is on the top, but when i flatten or export i get the bottom:
    I am using many more shapes some of which are more complicated, and i really want precise control over the gradients.
    Thanks!
