9134 b2b credits

Greetings,
Having come from a director class environment, I have to wonder about b2b credits on something smaller like the 9134. It has 64 available per port group which consists of 4 ports. If I intended to purchase something like the 9134 for purely ISL work with FC and FICON, how can I get around this b2b credit issue? I have had nothing but problems with HDS True Copy in our normal (Brocade) fabrics and I have decided to split the replication onto its own "SAN" with ONS 15540 providing the DWDM links. Brocade provide either R_RDY or VC over ISL's and I am not convinced that VC can handle head of line blocking. R_RDY definitely cant as it is not capable of that function. So if I was to run port channels of say 2 x 4 Gpbs over up to 32 kms, my 64 b2b credits is not going to leave anything for the other two ports per port group.
10 Gpbs ISL's seem to be the way to do this.
Any comments are most welcome.
Stephen

This leads me to the 9134 10 Gpbs ISL. If it has 64 buffer credits, what good is it? That equates to about 5 buffer credits per kilometre. Thats a limit of about 12 kilometres. Considering that the practical native fibre channel standard is about 32 km in most cases, I would expect enough buffer credits to handle that distance.
The 9222i is just toooooo expensive as I don't want the IP connectivity. Pity..

  • Get report on ingress and egress ipsec traffic size per session

    Hi,
I am looking for advice on how to best get the ingress and egress byte counts per VPN session.   I have a netflow appliance which gives me aggregated data, but I am looking for the best way to get byte size in and out per session.  I am using VPN on a Cisco IOS router (2811).
    Thanks.

by the way there is simultaneously no B2B credits deficit on the corresponding fc port and no drops on it observed.

  • ISL buffer credit allocation

    Greetings,
I have four MDS switches that I intend to use as part of a DR solution with native fibre channel and a Cisco ONS. I am moving from a Brocade solution and am interesting in the buffer credits for the ISL. Each link is 2 Gpbs and eventually they will be port channels when I get a couple more links.
    <quote>
255 buffer-to-buffer credits-are assigned to each port for optimal bandwidth utilization across distance.
    </quote>
Does that mean the B2B credits are automagically assigned for use or we have to set them manually. The max distance in my alternate loop is 35 km. We have found that the traffic is odd and the typical B2B numbers are just not good enough. So, can I set say 70 or 105 BB credits manually to each interface that will be an ISL? If so, then which of the BB Credit options do I use? The list is interesting:
    Admin Default
    Extended
    Admin ISL
    Admin FX
    and
    Perf Bufs Admin.
Oddly enough, after googling a fair bit and going over my training notes, I can't find any doco on this anywhere.
Can someone please comment on this?
    Stephen

    Phil,
    Thanks again for a response.
Do you know why there are so many B2B credits available for the interfaces compared to Brocade? Eg, a Brocade interface will only offer 3 credits on a standard interface compared to the 16 available on the MDS. This causes issues on heavily worked interfaces. Also, after forking out a sum of money to get long distance mode for the Brocade, the maximum is still less that the standard of 255 for ISL's.
Isn't a buffer credit the same for all vendors devices? In relatively simple terms, it lets you extend a 1 Gpbs FC interface up to 2 kilometres. So a 2 Gpbs interface over 32 kilometres would require 64 buffer credits. Was Cisco planning for 8 Gpbs interfaces when they did the buffer credit allocation?
I wonder how the Nexus does this?

  • SAN extension - slightly off topic

    Greetings,
We currently have two pairs of Brocade 48000 Directors at each site that are filling up very rapidly. We also have two pairs of Brocade 3800's that have ISL's over dark fibre. We have purchased some 8-Port Enhanced Data Muxponder Cards for the Cisco ONS 15454 Multiservice Transport Platform (MSTP) for SAN extenion as we are going to need lots more bandwidth as we are looking at use VTL's at each site to backup the other site. And we also are doing geographically dispersed clusters (geo clusters) which requires synchronous true copy between the HDS USP's. The plan is to move all the ISL's to the 48000's and retire the 3800's.
The current Brocade switches have endless zero buffer credits messages (about 300,000 per hour) but there is no apparent way to fix this as they only have 29 buffer credits available per ISL and the distance between the sites is small enough that 29 is enough. In theory, we only need 20. The switches use 29 all the time. I don't even know if this is a problem.
I am looking at asking for a Cisco solution to handle the geoclusters and the upgraded number of ISL's for the backups. I seriously doubt my work will look at the director class as they think they have spent enough on the Brocade switches.
I am interested in knowing if anyone thinks something like the 9216i would be a better solution with the ONS 15454 MSTP as both are Cisco products. In particular the buffer to buffer credits seem to be much higher in the MDS than the Brocade but if there were issues with Brocade, then surely they would have made changes for this.
The reason I see the zero buffer credits all the time is because I am using HDS Tuning Manager and it reports on them for some reason.
Our HDS systems have spare ports which means we could use them and the the connections to the geo cluster hosts and connect them through the 9216 to each datacenter. Thats enough redundancy with four switches. The ONS seems to understand the Cisco B2B credits.
I think it is strange there is no Brocade forum site or at least one that I can find.
    Stephen

On a Cisco board, you are always going to be told that the ONS and MDS are a better option....:)I would think the MDS is a better option not only because it is stronger with regards to BB credits that you suggest is the core of the issue, but gives you more tools to do your work. The MDS has the simple show command and you would catch a zero BB credit situation if it occured. You have more config options to make the hardware do what you want, IE move BB credits around. You have 4 interop modes. You get VSAN's to do what you want. You can turn on performance monitor for free for 119 days to test your E ports. I don't want to do a marketing list here, but the point is that there more things you can do with the product so the business can get work done.
I still am guessing that your tool is looking at the F port link and not the E port link. Not to say that I know exactly what it is reporting but flow control is point-to-point so unless your device is one end of the E port, then it really doesn't know what's going on other than it does not have a credit to send from it's perspective in the world. If the E port has 29 and the F port on the BRCD has say 7, then once the array sends 7 frames and no R_RDY back, then the array thinks it has zero BB Tx credits. In this example, the credits still sits at 22 on the E port. This is assuming the HDS is using class3 FCP.

  • Could low priority transmit B2B credit be configured on MDS 9000 switches?

According to cisco "Slow Drain Device Detection and Congestion Avoidance"
    Quote as following
"1 in every 8 credits (with a maximum of 15) is reserved for absolute priority traffic only. All the user and data traffic (which could be high, medium, or low priority) is sent using the remaining shared credits."
Is it just a default or configurable setting? If it is not configurable, how if data traffic congested the link? As data traffic can only use low priority B2B credit, total B2B credit will be remaining non-0 all the time, so Link reset will not occur anyway? How could low priority B2B credit get recovered?
Thanks in advance for any of your help!

Number of credits should depend on the receive frame size. If let's say you double the frame size setting, the receive B2B credit should half.

  • DPS Enterprise License for Apple's B2B Store

    Hey everyone,
we developed an app and successfully tested it on our iPads via DPS. We aim to distribute the app via the B2B store from Apple and the tutorial PDF from Adobe tells me that we need an "Enterprise license" for DPS.
Our company uses Adobe Creative Cloud and I am wondering now whether this already  means that we have an "Enterprise license" for DPS, as well?
    Cheers,

    No. It does not.

    Hi Sai,
It seems you are updating certificate in a delivery channel which is being used in a validated (or may be deployed) agreement. Please retire/purge any deployed configuration which is using that delivery channel and also make sure no such agreement is in valid state(which is using this delivery channel).

  • Making SKTO condition type as 0% in case of credits

    Hi All,
This is about the common scenario where in we give the credit back to the customer in normal practice as well in case of returns.
The requirement is that whenever I create a credit memo (G2) or credit for returns (RE) , the SKTO should read as 0%. The catch here is that since the credit  memos are cretaed with reference to the orignal billing doc the SKTO condition which has the % discount copied from the payment terms is going to get copied in the credit memo request .
Moreover there might be scenarios where the credit memo request is created independently w/o reference to  the original doc . So even in this case the SKTO is going to have  the % discount . It is because of this reason why I don't want to change/create any copy control routine from the original invoivce to the credit memo request doc.
    My question is :
    1. Is it possible to have the SKTO read as 0 % in case of credits ( G2 & RE) docs even though the credit memo request has a payment term which has the (xyz) % discount . ?
    2. If I am going to change the copy controls from CR to G2 or RE (returns) to RE (credit for returns), how
would I need to do ?
The Whole essence of this requirement is that my business doesn't want the cash discount (SKTO) to figure when they issue a credit.
    Thanks
    Sridhar

    Hi Lakshmi,
Thanks for your suggestion .But I have bottlenecks in both the cases:
    1. In case 1 if I have to change the pricing procedure I need to introduce 2 new pricing procedures as we have 2 different products and both of them use different pricing procedures. This is a viable solution ,but I need to spend most of the time convincing the business that it doesn't impact anything .
    2. In case 2 , I have 2 credit scenarios ,(i) normal credit memos (ii) credit for returns . I have  the F2 -G2 in VTFF,but there is no F2-RE as of now . So I might have to create this . SInce this both the billing types are standard, is it recommended to create F2 -RE in VTFF?. Please let me know .
OR as said by Mr .Shivram , I am looking at the option of modifying the requirement 6 assigned to SKTO in the pricing procedure .
    Thanks

  • Custom File Name Format in B2B Console

    Hi,
Please let me know if we can have a customized File Name Format in the B2B Console for the X12 EDI/XML Files.
I have read the Oracle doc and only the following formats are mentioned:
    %FROM_PARTY%
    %TO_PARTY%
    %DOCTYPE_NAME%
    %DOCTYPE_REVISION%
    %MSG_ID%
    %TIMESTAMP%
Is there a way to have a PO# (From the Trading Partner Payload) in the filename format?

no. It has the format which helps B2B in identifying the agreement

  • Dynamic filename in receiver AS2 adapter in B2B Add-on

    Hello Experts,
Can you please let me know how we can put dynamic filename in the receiver AS2 adapter for B2B Addon on SAP 7.4.
    Thanks
    Saurabh

    Hi Ryan / Experts,
Let me explain you in more detail.
In the receiver AS2 Communication channel, if I keep the Filename field as blank as shown below, then in the Mendelson inbox folder, a file is generated with the name "ASJAVA_DX5" which is my business component name.
If I fill the filname field for example with "CONTRL", then in the Mendelson inbox folder, a file is generated with the name "CONTRL".
This is my requirement because, suppose i trigger this interface "first time", a file with static name (ASJAVA_DX5/CONTRL ) would be generated in the inbox folder. If I trigger this interface "second time", since the file already exists with same name, it is not overwritten and I cannot check the output of 2nd trigger . Contents are not overwritten.
To solve this problem + as a general requirement, I wish to have this name to be dynamic, atleast with date+timestamp.
    Can you please help.

  • Processo B2B aguardando processamento em background - NFE 3.10

    Boa noite,

    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/4a/2d513897110872e10000009b38f889/content.htm

    No aguardo, obrigado.
    Danilo

    Danilo,
    a licenca do NFE inclui:
