915gm-fr temperature problem

Hi! I´ve got a temperature problem, I just installed the Arctic Cooling freezer 7 cpu fan, to hopefully reduce the sound. But not!!! The fan runs at 2700rpm during cpu workload at 1% in windows, the bios is configurated to use temperature control. And the cpu temp in core center is 48 (pendle sometimes between 43- 60). I´ve tried some settings in core center but I think that program is crap.
The freezer 7 is icq cold. I want it to run in 1400rpm or less ( And I don´t think that is impossible), how can I control that? Or what is wrong?
Becouse the freezer 7 is ice cold there is no need for the fan to run at that speed. Maybe something is wrong with the PWM from the motherboard?
I think I´ve got a problem with the temperature control on the motherboard, reading wrong.
Best regards

I´ve got
915gm-fr motherboard
Intel P4 s775 3,0GHz HT
windows xp
BIOS version 1,6 (newest) and newest core-center
the cpufan is running at 2700+ rpm doing idle. !! =( and the cpu is around 50C
must be something wrong with the cpu temperature sensor?
I´ve never seen the fan speed slower, just full speed, even with the boxed cooler too.

  • MacbookPro 13'' temperature problem

Hi everyone, I have a Macbook Pro 13'' Mid-2012 (A1278) with a Intel Core i7 2.9GHz for a year ago, but the cpu fan is a little noisy and I check temperature with a "Temperature Monitor App" and CPU Temp is 80ºC with only Chrome and Coda 2 opened.
Normally I work on 3D applications like Autodesk Maya and AutoCAD, this apps can overheat the cpu but now i can't work with these apps because the performance is very low, I cleaned up the logic board and temperature don't decrease.
¿How can I decrease CPU Temp? I bought a new CPU Fan and I don't want it damage again...
Thanks for help me and sorry for my english I speak spanish

And the magsafe connector is so hot like 100ºC but charge the battery and works fine but is hot. I have 2 chargers one 65W (original) and another 95W from another macbook and both have the same temperature problem.
100°c on the charger body is unacceptable and would be impossible to touch for more than a second. Mine have never been more than 55°c.  There is something terribly wrong here.  Look at the contacts between the charger and the MBP.  Is there any discoloration?  the pins in the charger connection are spring loaded, do they move easily?
Fan Speed is 6140 rpm and CPU temp is 75ºC, I think a change the thermal compound.
The CPU temperature is not bad nor is the fan speed.  I have doubts about that replacing the thermal paste will improve thew situation.
Open the MBP and see if there is dust an debris inside.  I f so clean it out.
Again, delete Google Chrome and see what happens. It has been known to have compatibility problems with OSX.
    Ciao.

  • [SOLVED] Notebook temperature problem

    Hi everyone,
I use Arch Linux (i686) since 2008 on different machines. But my Acer 8935G Notebook is giving me headaches for some time now.
I bought it one year ago and Arch Linux ran nearly out of the box (ALSA drivers took some time, but that's done). In spring I noticed, that the computer is getting hotter than it did before (Idle: 70° Celsius / 158° Fahrenheit). In Windows Vista, I get idle temperatures around 40° C (104° F). And before spring, I got temps booting Linux around 50° C (122° F), which was absolutley okay and worked for me.
I didn't change system settings or configurations, and I tried some possible solutions, because I thought, maybe it's a kernel problem, but that's just a wild guess.
    What I did so far:
    - trying alternate kernels (BFS, CK, ZEN)
    - tried different cpufreq settings (dynamic cpu scaling is working -> cpufreq-info)
    - undervolting via intel-phc (no changes in temperature at all)
    - tried powertop
    none of that worked.
I have to say, that's not just a Arch Linux-related problem, other distributions give me the same problems (PCLinuxOS 2010, Linux Mint KDE 4.4).
My question so far is - has anybody experienced similar problems and found a solution for it?
Thanks in advance for the help - I'll really appreciate it.

    Thanks TigTex,
but I can safely say, the temperature problem is real. It's not just a false sensor, because of the heat, the metal-case of the laptop is generating. It really gets uncomfortable when working on that hot case (hands on the hot machine and typing - after a while you can order your hands "well done" *sigh*). Because of that, I switched to an external keyboard, but that's not really a solution. The weird thing is, that the temperature problem didn't exist at the beginning - and it doesn't exist on Windows. And it's also not a cleaning problem - I clean my machine regularly (because I hate dust, generally ).
I can also say, that the fan is working - and it's working also dynamicaly (gets louder, when the machine gets hotter).
I checked the CPU sensors on Windows with Core Temp regularly (runs automatically in system tray at boot).
    The machine ran 20 minutes (after 1h I get around 70° C / 73° C / 73° C):

  • Ipad 2 temperature problem since I have it

In January 2014 I exchanged my former ipad 2 to a new one using the out of warranty option. This new ipad 2 supposed to be a new one but it never worked because since the beginning I had this temperature problem that avoid me to use it for more than 5 minutes.
What can I do. Is this new ipad on warranty even I bought it using the OW? I paid $ 249+ tax!
    Thanks for your help!

When you use the out of warranty option your replacement iPad does have a warranty just not as long as a new one. Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

  • K7N2 Temperature Problems

I'm having some small temperature problems with this board.
    Here are the temps
    CPU:        45-60 (normal-load)'c
    Case:       38-45
    Chipset:    42-47
The CPU isn't too bad, although I do see some strage fluctuations, like while writing this, its went upto 57 and then the next reading dropped to 47???
I have a laser digital thermometor which obviously can only scan temps external of the heatsinks, but it is accurate, and it does report similar temps.
My main worry here is the case temperature.
    Here is my setup
    K7N2 Delta 2
    athlon 2.5 @ 2.2Ghz
    1GB corsair (512*2)
    Nvidia 6800GT 256MB DDR3
    DVDRW
    DVDROM/CDRW
    120GB SATA HDD
500WATT PSU (which is heating up a little and could be a cause of this)
    3 case fans
    thermaltake volcano 12+
I've tried not clocking but there is little difference, room temps are at 20-25'c.
The heatsinks near the chipset seems to be getting rather hot also.
It doesn't have any stability problems. Its fine with games, no slowdowns. but its just the temps.
Can someone please compare my temps with the same board, just so I can get an idea.
    Thanks in advance

  • An EMU temperature problem occurred

    Hello,
The error message I get is: "An EMU temperature problem occurred"
My Xserve RAID has been given me this error three times in the last month, always early in the morning. There is no temperature fluctuation in the server room as far as I can tell. The raid works fine and orange warning light comes on with no alarm. The raid admin initially reports failure, but when I click on the button it goes to green.
Is this a symptom that my controller is starting to fail? I cannot find anything on the web about this topic!

It wouldn't hurt to monitor the climate in the datacenter. We are using the weathergoose products:
    http://www.itwatchdogs.com/
These will track temperature, humidity as well as sound and light levels, and airflow. You could also add probes that will monitor house power so you could see how long the systems have been running from UPS.
You could also download the SNMP MIB to be used with a third party graphing utility, such as Cacti.
These products have helped us to keep track of the cooling and overall health of our servers.

  • 5530 (probably) temperature problem

I have 5530  an year and a few months already. Approximately at second month it began rebooting automatically . Firstly thought that it's some software problem. ( Now I'm not sure is it really)So I found that it reboots only when device temperature decreases (for example - if I put it out from my pocket and air temperature is below 20 centigrade). And when display is locked it even turns off and won't turn on (only vibrates twice) till it's not warmed up again.
I did all upgrades since fw version 10.0.050 problem persists. My question is what kind of problem may it be ? Some software problem , battery problem or temperature sensor problem? (if it's software problem how can I solve it alone because the place I bought phone is really far for me).

It's hard for us to know what's causing this, but it's likley to believe it's hard ware related.
But first, did you do anything special to the device before it started to happen?
Have you installed a new memory card?
    Installed new 3rd party apps?
    Swapped Sim card?
But if you're sure that it behaves like this dependant on temp, I would take it to a Nokia care point for an inspection and possibly repair.
You can find your nearest care point here: http://europe.nokia.com/support/repair-and-recycle/repair/care-points

  • Screen color temperature problem!

Hello this is my first post on here.  I just picked up my second BB 8330 from sprint today it was a replacement for an unrelated matter.  The first thing I noticed was the screen seems to be dimmer than my old one and the color temperature seems a lot warmer.  I did the usual things, I made sure it was on 100% brightness, checked the auto-dim etc and the problem is still there.  I did some searching around on the net and the best solution I can find is that there is problem with the screen manufacturer in Mexico...whether this is true or not I really have no idea.  In any case there doesn't seem to be a solution out there, I was wondering if there was a firmware update or patch that I didn't know about? Any and all suggestions are welcome.

  • MBP 15' randomly shuts down: temperature problem?

    Hallo,
I'm having a very serious problem with my MBP unibody (rev B). After a few minute of intense use (3D gaming or just streaming of HD flash video) it shuts down without any warning or alert. The event doesn't show up in the system log and it happens more often while using the 9600GT gpu.
It looks like a temperature managing problem, but the strange thing is that at the restart right after the sudden shut down the temperatures are absolutely normal and the fans seem to work as they should.
    What could be the issue?
Moreover, I need my mac to work and I really can't afford to stay a day or more without it because it's in repair. It's still under official Apple warranty, am I eligible for an immediate full replacement?
    thanks

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
If it was shutting down due to over heating then you'd get some warning like the fans running at maximum revs for a while first ...
Are you saying the Console (All Messages) Log is not showing anything at all at the time of this event ??
It's probably best you contact the place where you bought it and have them take a look, there's nothing anyone can do here about hardware issues. It's highly unlikely you'd be given a replacement but any repairs needed would be covered by your Warranty.

  • [HOWTO] fix throttling/temperature problems of GTX 870m (and probably others)

    Hey,
    The problem:
Other than repasting and undervolting using a VBIOS mod, you can't do much to prevent the guaranteed 93°C hit on the GS70 with the GTX 870m,
which results in serious throttling after a short while of full load on the GPU to prevent hardware-damage and thus, while playing, massive FPS drops. Also the mentioned "fixes" only delay the inevitable.
That's what I thought to be correct - turns out, it isn't.
This may work for any laptop/card combination with temperature/throttling issues, not only the GS70-2PE + GTX 870m!
I've found a way to circumvent the 93°C problem on the GS70 with a GTX 870m (may apply to other laptops/cards aswell):
The NVIDIA driver (and only the driver, not any hardmodded VBIOS) is able to set some stuff about the temperature target, you can't change with a hard mod - I've talked to svet about that.
Let's have a look some screenshots I took:
    Screenshot #1 - default behaviour:
On the first screenshot you see the default behaviour of a brand new GS70-2PE with a GTX 870m - not repasted. It was taken right after I took the second screenshot, so there's still some amount of data left on the charts from before.
Have a look at the "GPU Core Clock" in GPU-Z. You'll notice big spikes (which go down to about 480 MHz) on the right hand side of the graph. That's the throttling the card automatically does when it's hit its 93°C temperature for about a minute. That are lag-spikes when playing something demanding.
You also notice on the "PerfCap Reason" row - when it was throttling in the "GPU Core Clock" row no soft performance cap was induced so this was done by the card (or the EC?) internally (that's the empty space on the right hand side of the chart).
Now let's look at the second screenshot.
    Screenshot #2 - fixing things:
Notice the difference on the right hand side of both screenshots' "GPU Core Clock" charts. See the spike-downs gone in the second screenshot?
You can also see, that compared to the first chart, the driver has reduced the voltage to reach the Temperature Target while the clock rate was reduced.
Here I've slightly lowered the base clock of the GPU by -40 MHz, aswell as reduced the Voltage Offset by -18.8 mV. (Both settings may not even be necessary, please report your results)
    This is the important part:
Additionally I've set the Temperature Target as priorized over the Power Target, and set the Temperature Target to 90°C.
As you can see when the GPU hits 91°C, after a couple of seconds it will clock down, but controlled by the driver (you can see that in the "PerfCap Reason" chart). It's not as bad as the drop to 450 MHz, it's just a 100 MHz drop, to about 810 MHz in my case. It stays there until it reaches a temperature of about 86°C, stays there a bit, clocks up again, and so on. (The clock values you see don't reflect the 810 MHz, the screenshot was taken while the PerfCap was not in effect)
    Results
    What have we gained?
No massive last-resort throttling by the card itself, but a small clock drop induced by the NVIDIA driver to meet our desired temperature target. A huge all-around performance improvement when the card gets hot and less FPS drops when playing for a long time or a GPU hungry game.
    What have we lost?
Some few seconds of boost clock as the card clocks down a bit earlier. Also in my case I've lost 40 MHz of base clock (that may not even be necessary).
Combine that with a decent repasting and I'd call my GS70-2PE with a GTX 870m "stable" and reasonably fast on full GPU load.
By pressing the "Create Clocks Shortcut" button in NVIDIA Inspector those settings will be set on boot.
Please tell me what you think. Any improvements and experiences welcome.

    Hey everyone!
I downloaded nvidia inspector to apply this fix,but shocked to see in default behaviour my Voltage Offset was -68.8. Should I change that? There is a big difference with the value the fix provides and my default value..
Also,I consider repasting with IC Diamond. Should I?
    Hey,
the offset shouldn't matter - inspector showed some weird behaviour when modifying and/or initially setting it. Try to apply my fix and don't do anything to the offset as a first try to be safe. It shouldn't matter nevertheless, as we're talking about a very small millivolts value, nothing big.
Regarding repasting with IC Diamond: I've had great success in "repasting" using Liquid MetalPad - you might want to consider this.

  • GPU Temperature Problems: Faulty Chip or SMC?

    Hello Community
I am looking for some backup? on my theories regarding my MBPs GPU overheating - or the SMC has cracked it.
    Timeline:
Running Windows 7 for video games, start games, very bad performance. Reboot. Fan is at full. Leave it to cool. Try again. Same problem. Try another game. same problem. Try OS X. Same problem.
Run Tech Tool Pro 5. No faults detected. As its a graphics issue, I hammer the VRAM test. No faults found. Given the 9400M shares system memory, I ran Mmetest86 and found stacks of addressing errors. Popped the RAM out, thinking it was faulty, popped the old RAM in. Memtest finds errors and no performance increase.
On suggestion of someone else, checked temperatures. Hello super high GPU temps. I have seen sustained and constant temps of between 90 (OS X) to 105 (Windows) degrees Celsius from running animated loading screens for video games.
Using a few utilities on the Windows side (which has more available) I have found an unsurprising link between GPU usage (and thus performance) and temperature. Beyond 85 degrees or so, things start to go cactus.
I did an SMC reset, and a PRAM reset. I've had a Genius do the same. I had one Genius explain to me that GPU cooling requires hardcore nitrogen setups and that 90 degrees for a GPU is OK.
There is obviously a problem. When I force the fans to max out, the temp stays around 90 C max (and performance is still bad) but if the SMC was working correctly, it should be maxxing the fan at that temp instead of me using 3rd party tools to kick them up.
To end my rant, do people think its SMC or the GPU? Either way its a new logic board, I just wanted some input on what people think it is.

That does sound like it could be from overheating. Try blowing out the fans and vents. You can buy cans of compressed air at most electronics store. Use it to blow the vents out while the computer is off and unplugged. This can greatly reduce the temperature!

  • W701ds CPU and Motherboard temperature problem

    Hello Lenovo Community,
    I have a w701ds 4323 laptop with nvidia fx2800, an SSD drive and a second 500gb hdd.
I use this laptop for web development and image processing and i kept it on a cooling pad, The CPU and MB temperature has always been like between 70-80 °C, but now i've removed the cooling pad and it goes between 80-90.
This is not normal, so can you guys share your experiences with this.
This is supposed to be a powerful machine with i7 and 16gb RAM, but it doesn't seem so, so far i had the nvidia problem but i think i finally fixed it with disabling powermizer and i'm thinking about disabling the overheat slowdown because it just  freezes from time to time.
I'm running windows 7 64 and a linux mint which i barely use. The power settings are for maximum performans, the fans are set to active with no power saving and the bios options for power saving are all disabled.
    Please advise.
    Thank you
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I have W701 built 10/2010 with i7 920XM and 16GB RAM. SSD and 500GB hard drive like yours. I'm also running 128GB SSD in the Ultrabay in place of DVD drive. All USB ports in use, including the eSATA port. When set to highest performance, I often pegged the meter on this machine during Photoshop usage. I was finding temps reaching 85F to 90F frequently (no cooling pad). I chose to open the laptop up and inspect the cooling system.  After 3 years, alot of dust and junk had accumulated on both fans (slowing them down) and other various parts of the cooling ducts, etc. Cleaned all that crap out, made it look like new inside.
Running same routines as before, sustained temps above 80F are very rare. In Thinkpad default mode plugged in, average temp is mid-50's. Battery save mode, the sucker idles in the high-40's now. The Nvidia 2800 card also runs about 5F cooler than before.

  • MSI kt600 FISR Delta temperature problem

Ok i have a problem with my temperatures of my watercooled system!
I installed the w/c on my new mobo just a few days ago and got some very strange temperature readings.
First my temperature of my proc = ~50 idle and 53 stressed!! which ofcourse is much to high for wc.
Now, i check the position of my waterblock 3 times, my pump, air in the system and so on and everything seems perfect!
Then i noticed that my the temperature of my Nordbrigde was very hot, so i installed a 120mm fan directly above it to cool it (with my case open). Suddenly the temperature of my processor dropped like a stone in water until it stopped at 40oC. The temps in the BIOS gave the same difference!
Now this seems a little odd to me?!! Why would a fan blowing air have any influence on my processor temperature???
Can it be that my Nordbrigde got so hot it influenced my temp. readings of my processor? Or did i do something very very stupid?
Does anyone have a any idea's?
    My specs:
    Zalman 400 watt;
    MSI kt600 FISR Delta;
Radeon 9800 pro (stock speed + wc Innovatek Graph-o-matic)
Xp 2800+ (stock speed + wc Innovatek Coolrev 2.0)
    2x 512 Kingston pc2700
    Terratec Aureon 5.1 Fun
    120 GB Maxtor 8mb
    80 GB Maxtor 2mb
    Cd writer
    DVD
Watercooling: (industrial radiator, Hydor L30, 172mm past fan,)

    Hello,
Bios 5.4 fixes a setting in the BIOS called CPU halt detection.
This can dramatically reduce the CPU temps when idle.
Without this setting on, the CPU temp is always close to the max temp.
    Like you said 50 -53.
Enable this option in the BIOS.
Now my PC is not watercooled and the temps are
    idle
34sys 41.5cpu (this was taken on the hot days we had)
max I haven't record any temps yet
    but its and ~40sys 52cpu
Aero7+ blower on min rpm ~1700
My CPU is only an XP1700+

  • Temperature problem

    Hi,
I have a HP EliteBook 8740W with NVIDIA FX 3800. Model SN WD943EA.
My problem is that the temperature of de CPU an Graphic Card are very hot. I can touch the on/off Button. This appeaers only if I work with a second screen.
    Is this problem know ?
