"915P Combo and PCI-Express problem"

Hello friends, I have a pc with the following configuration: mobo 915P Combo with a processor pentium 4 530 3.0 ghz, memory kingston 1GB Kit DDR 400 dual channel, psu 500w ATX with connector 20-pin, video card XFX Geforce 6600 256 MB PCI-EXPRESS, sound card audigy 2 zs, hard disk 120 GB seagate 7200 rpm SATA. And I have a problem with the port PCI-Express and my video card, if I install the video card the computer it doesn't start up well, that is to say, it start up and to the 3 seg this shut down automatically and 5 seg later this tries to start up but without success , after several intents this can start up perfect and everything works well . And if I don't install the video card pci-express and I intall my old video card port pci 16 mb Banshee the pc starts up perfect and doesn't have problems. what is the real problem? 1) the video card pci-express, 2) the port pci-express of the mobo, 3)that I have a psu with connector 20-pin? i got same problem as Calvido. My system specification MSI 915G Combo with the lastest bios v1.8 with a processor pentium 4 530 3.0 ghz, memory kingston 1GB DDR 533 dual channel, psu 350w True power, video card Leadtek Geforce 6600 256 MB PCI-EXPRESS, hard disk 120 GB maxtor 7200 rpm SATA. And I have a problem with the PCI-Express, if i use the intergrated graphic intel 900 it dun give me any problem n i used for more than 6mth.
It happen when i try to upgrade my intergrated graphic card to PCI-E. 1st i try with the Inno3D geforce 6600 256mb PCI-E n when my com start until windows it become blank screen for awhile the screen appear again for no more than 1 min became blank again. 2nd try i use Leadtek Geforce 6600 256MB PCI-E it seem alright but when i click on icon it start to delay ...until hang. 1st i thought my OS problem so i format my system, but problem still the same so i repeat format until 7 or 8 times. Problem not solve.
I try to send email to MSI but no reply
Pls help me to solve the problem

915p Combo and Leadtek Winfast PVR2000 - No Sound on live playback

Has anyone attempted to install a (PCI card) PVR2000 onto a 915p Combo board and utilise the onboard sound rather than a dedicated Sound Card? I've attached the PVR card to the motherboard via the CD-In connector (JAUD1 or something), but only get sound when playing back captured TV or Radio. This suggests that the card is working, but the motherboard can't hear it through the connector. I've tried replacing the cable with one that definitely works and updated the Leadtek and Onboard Sound drivers, but to no avail.
Can anyone help?

Download the latest drivers for the C-Media soundchip, PVR2000 and the latest version of WinFast PVR. After that go to the Configuration Screen in Winfast and select CD-Player for Audio-in &Audio-out. In Cmedia Xear->Mixer select CD-Player in Rec and click the button that looks likea speaker (a hammer in earlier versions and select Monitoring).

915P Combo Windows XP setup problem

hello all,
hoping someone can help me with this. I'm trying to install xp at the moment on a 200gb maxtor hard drive connected to my MSI 915p combo FR by IDE. i know to hit f6 during setup and then press S to select the raid driver from the floppy but my computer didn't ship with the floppy disk, only a cd with drivers on. does anyone know where i can find the drivers i need (are they on the cd?) that i should have on a floppy or if there is another way around this? I keep getting a blue screen and the xp setup cannot continue past this point.

Actually, you don't need to do that. You are definately not using RAID anyway if you have just one Hard Drive. Make sure the hard drive is connected to the IDE Port hosted by the Intel ICH6 Chipset (the IDE Port that stands alone).

2x K8N Neo 4 - PCI express problem

Hi,
I've received 2 motherboard K8N Neo4 MS-7125 and both of them have the same problem ie the PCI express seems dead (bip error indicating a video problem). When I use an old PCI video card, I've an initialization and something on the monitor but I'm unable to boot or access the bios.
Of course, I've tested both motherboards with several PCI-Express video cards, new PSU, new DDR, resetting the bios, unplugged all devices like HDD and optical drives.
I'm surprised to see two motherboard of the same type with the same failure at the same time. They are a little bit more 3years old (3y+4months and 3y+1month)
Anybody with the same problem ?
(I hope it's not a default of this K8N series as I have also this motherboard model in one of my computer )

The PCIe slots are intended for network interface cards such as a 10GbE card. However, I have not heard of anyone installing a fiber channel before.

What is the difference between PCI-x and PCI Express?

I hear the new dual core Power Macs have PCI Express slots. How are these different than the PCI-X slots in my old Power Mac?

PCI Express is faster than PCI-X and not a bus architecture. Each slot has its own dedicated bandwidth to and from the system controller.
PCI-X has a maximum clock speed of 133 MHz and a maximum throughput of just over 1 GBps.
PCI Express cards and slots are defined by their bandwidth, or number of data lanes — typically one lane, four lanes, eight lanes, or 16 lanes. At 250 MBps per lane, a four-lane slot can transfer data at up to 1 GBps and an eight-lane slot, up to 2 GBps. The new PowerMac G5s have one 16 lane slot, two four-lane slots, and one eight-lane slot.

MacBook Pro and Airport Express = Problem?

Seem to be having problems when I boot my Macbook it doesn't connect to my airport Express. I have checked my windows laptop and have no issues at all. Also when my macbook goes to sleep sometimes it doesn't connect back up I have to select the SSID and connect up again.
Tried the usual things changes ssid - channel and so on, I am currently using WEP 128 otptions 802.11g.

Try:
1.) System Preferences->Network->Network Port Configurations- Drag Airport to the top of the list, and uncheck ports you don't need.
2.) System Preferences-Network-Airport and select join Automatic.
This should solve your problem.

Mynow.co.uk and Airport express problems

I use mynow.co.uk which is a wireless broadband provider ie. you dont need a phone line.
I had this connected to my airport express using PPPoE. It worked fine until my airport express just stopped working (it was dead).
I bought a new airport express and set it up the same way but now it just say 'looking for PPPoE' for ever. I sure all the conections and settings are fine.
Help, what gives?

It only ever happened to me when I mistyped the IP password. Presumably you've triple-checked all that stuff.

ITunes and Airport Express Problem

I try to switch my iTunes audio output from computer to my stereo speakers 'My Room'. I receive a message saying: The remote speaker 'My Room' is not compatible with this version of iTunes.
As I understand this message, iTunes does not like either a) the setings of AX or B) AX at all.
I have updated my iTunes to version 7.0.1.
Any ideas?

That's strange because my Airtunes works flawlessly with my Macmini amd iTunes 7. Have you updated th Airport software to the most recent availiable? That could cause problems. (To update, go to Applications, Utilities, Airport Admin Utility. And Click configure.

Find/replace and regular expression problem

Hello, i'm using find and replace with a regular expression
for the first time. I have it checkmarked and it's finding my text
but it's missing (not highlighting) the ')' at the end of the line.
Here's my code:
[($[0-9]+US)]
it's supposed to find everything inside the square brackets -
but it misses the closing parenthesis after . I need
to find this string and replace with nothing to remove the string
from any/all pages. Is there a reason why it's missing the closing
parenthesis? I was actually able to add a few more parenthesis
(e.g. "))))") before OR after the closing square bracket and it
still found the original text minus the closing bracket and the
extra parenthesis didn't prevent the text from being found.
Any help is appreciated!

Try:

I think I understand, but would appreciate confirmation or correction.
.* is zero or more of anything. The ? makes it reluctant (also called lazy?).
So .* is compared against nothing, succeeds, and the regex moves on to the next character.
This doesn't match / so regex backtracks and tries to match .* against the space, which succeeds, but then / doesn't match against the k in key
So we backtrack, and reluctantly add the k to what .* matches.
We keep adding a character to .*'s match every time the next character isn't a /.
Eventually, .* matches everything up to and including the quote before the first />.
At this point, the / and > literals match, and we're done.

And we needed to make it reluctant, else the .* would have started by matching as much of the string as it could, gobbling up all of it, and then backtracking to give the /> literals their match at the end of the string.

I get 4 red DLEDs at boot attempt. I have bios 1.3. Do I need an older cpu to boot to flash the bios to 1.7?
Using a enermax 500 watt noisetaker, 24 pin psu. 2 sticks of Centom 512mb memory, tried just 1 stick... same I have removed all parts but the video and ram. no vid signal, 4 red lights...

Did you make sure you plugged in the 4 pin power into the motherboard? If so try removing the CPU and reseating it.

915P Combo 2 F Ethernet problems

Recently Ive had some issues at my house with wireless interference. Its been a while since Ive used my ethernet port and I have having issues with windows not knowing its installed. This is onboard so I would think it should find it with a hardware scan and it doesn't. When I installed the Realtec utliltly it didnt show any component at all.
Im confused because all the LEDs on port are flickering like crazy but there seems to be nothing in my XP OS that would conferm it even existing. What is going on?

If that is the case and it still does not work, try this:
Go to Device manager
Point to View -> Show hidden devices
Scroll down to network interfaces and have a look for the Realtek NIC or some other networking NIC you don't recognize.
If you find something, right click and select Uninstall. (Be careful, however, there's a lot of stuff in there. Don't uninstall everything! Be sure that you are uninstalling a hardware driver!)
Reboot and retry installing the Realtek drivers.

BIOS Problem with 915P Combo

Hi there...
I have one MB 915P Combo and i have problems in BIOS configuration.
I go to: Advanced BIOS Features / BOOT SEQUENCE
And have one option Boot from other Device, it have No.
I change to Yes, and reboot and now it is possible to use pen disks.
The problem:
If i install a program and at the end of installation (for example update IDE/Raid utility) it is necessary to reboot windows , i restart the windows and when go to windows, now is not possible to use pen disks...
To solve the problem temporaly:
It is necessary to go to the BIOS configuration and Change the Boot from other device to "No" and reboot... and Change again to "Yes" to work with Pen disk.
And sometimes appears a blue window in Windows with a Device Driver error.
How to solve the problem ?
I have the latest BIOS 1.6
