915p combo ram problem still

ok I got a new PSU with my new case, Ive turned everything I dont use off on the board, theres more amps in this psu, it was tested on a p4 3.8Ghz and 6800Ultra system sucesfully (so much more power drain than my system), everythings fine, except the ram STILL wont run at 400Mhz DDR, after doing a test on Sisoft sandra I found out the rams only running at 200Mhz DDR.  and it doesnt even seem too attempt too run at what I set in BIOS. is there a better bios? Im currently using 1.4.

They are running at 200 MHZ, but its doubled because its DDR, so it is marked as 400 MHz. So 533 is 266 and so on........ Its compleeeetly normal for it to say 200 Mhz.
But is possible that that you have a FSB of 200, and if you do and theres some instabilty problems it could be because your FSB is rocking between 199-201 and going over the 200 MHz, and there for going over the memery spec. That can cause instabilty specially if you got lousy memory modules. But its really unpropable this is the problem this happens if you overclock with lousy memory modules.....
Try using a DDRII module to see if theres something wrong with the board or just a compatibilty problem between the memorymodule and the board....

  • 915P Combo POST problems

    Hi All,
First i would like to say great site and wonderful info provided. my problem has to do with starting up the computer. When turned on the computer doesn't POST and I have to press the reset few times to get to POST. here is how it goes: When turned on "CPU fan makes throaty sound 'too much for just starting up'". then the mouse + keyboard light check, either lights up indicating a POST in progress or they don't during all of that the monitor is still not POSTING.
Out of 10 start ups 9 require pressing the reset button 5-10 times to get it to post. could anyone please give some feedback on this problem. Also if it is not too much does anybody know why a computer with a SATA master HD and a Third primary ATA133 HD won't let me add any more drive and will ask for RAID to be installed? having problems connecting my CDRW ROM with 2 HDs and a DVD drive installed i have to manually open the case and unplug the DVD drive and swap it with the CD writer if i want to burn something on CD. Thanks again for the help.

Hello people! I have problems with my mobo , my mobo is :
"Motherboard ID   63-0100-000001-00101111-022306-GrantsD$0AAAA000_915P/G COMBO A7058IMS V1.9 02/23/06" ( everest copy/paste) . Now i have updated my bios to the 1.9 version, the latest available, before that, the mobo would not accept double sided DDR1, and after the update the problem persists, and i think one of the ram slots is not working properly , beacause it won't accept DDR1 single or double sided.
Does the latest bios-update contain previous versions?
Please help me , i want to upgrade my RAM and i can't find single sided memorys anywhere . Thank you in advance.
    My configuration is:
CPU Type   Intel Pentium 4 531, 3000 MHz

  • 915P Combo ram issue

Ive gotten a reply from msn saying clear bios, load optimised defaults and check FSB - RAM ratio is 1:1 and I cant for the life of me find out where this is displayed or how too change it.  Can anyone help?

I understand what your saying but that wasnt how they put it, I have ti set on 400 but its only running 333 whatever I put.
    Im running:
    P4 3.2
    2x512mb Geil CL2-3-3-6 Ultra-400
550 watt psu (all voltages are fine)
    X800 XT PCI-e
Ive tried lowering the rates too 3-3-3-8 as suggested on another thread, and the MSI support form reply said too make sure it was set too 1:1 which would make my ram 400Mhz and not 333Mhz, Ive set it too 400, the motherboard doesnt even bother trying, in windows Ive a program that recognises the ram what it is where its from but when I run a memory test it says its running PC2600.  Although there mail sounded like there was another option.
Edit: oh and there isnt a page 3-21 in my manual it only goes upto page 3-14
Edit 2: downloaded the manual from MSI site and theres has a 3-21 and not 1 bit is titles "FSB memory ratio" I know what you mean and I'll not paste exactly what was said and its something else:
"3. Check FSB memory ratio is set at 1:1 or auto"

  • BIOS Problem with 915P Combo

    Hi there...
I have one MB 915P Combo and i have problems in BIOS configuration.
I go to: Advanced BIOS Features / BOOT SEQUENCE
And have one option Boot from other Device, it have No.
I change to Yes, and reboot and now it is possible to use pen disks.
    The problem:
If i install a program and at the end of installation (for example update IDE/Raid utility) it is necessary to reboot windows , i restart the windows and when go to windows, now is not possible to use pen disks...
    To solve the problem temporaly:
It is necessary to go to the BIOS configuration and Change the Boot from other device to "No"  and reboot... and Change again to "Yes" to work with Pen disk.
And sometimes appears a blue window in Windows with a Device Driver error.
How to solve the problem ?
I have the latest BIOS 1.6
    Thanks.

What if you just normally reboot windows without any new installation? Does it happen the same way?

Check your power button connector to the mobo and see if it was fixed properly or you can try turning the connector 180 degrees around and fix it in and see if the same problem replicates.
Next you can also try to clear CMOS.
Check in your Power Management Options in Windows and check if there's any funny settings.
Thank you very much NovJoe for your kind attention and help.
Since I arrive home I'll try that.
i've  tried the connector of the power in the board of the 2 possible way with no result.
How can I clear the CMOS? nly with Jumpers isn't?
And what do you mean to say with funny settings in windos? Can you be more specific please?

  • 915P Combo Windows XP setup problem

    hello all,
hoping someone can help me with this.  I'm trying to install xp at the moment on a 200gb maxtor hard drive connected to my MSI 915p combo FR by IDE.  i know to hit f6 during setup and then press S to select the raid driver from the floppy but my computer didn't ship with the floppy disk, only a cd with drivers on. does anyone know where i can find the drivers i need (are they on the cd?) that i should have on a floppy or if there is another way around this?  I keep getting a blue screen and the xp setup cannot continue past this point.
this short thread from another forum explains the problem i have in more detail.

any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated
    thanks

    Hi,
can you please try to explain what you are trying to do there in more detail?

... does the Install-CD include at least Service Pack II?  If not, please use an SP2 or SP3-Install CD.  If you don't have one, use NLite or XP ISO BUILDER to make one.  The integration is free, legal and easy to do.

Okay.  So we are looking at an IDE/PATA Drive, right? Not an S-ATA Drive, correct?

Actually, you don't need to do that.  You are definately not using RAID anyway if you have just one Hard Drive.  Make sure the hard drive is connected to the IDE Port hosted by the Intel ICH6 Chipset (the IDE Port that stands alone).

  • 915P-Combo drive setup question

Great forum – I’m glad that I found it (just wish I found it before putting my system together).  I just constructed my first pc based on a 915P-Combo motherboard and everything has gone well.  I only made one mistake – I ordered two SATA 160G drives thinking I could do a SATA RAID 0.  Oops...
There are two reasons why I thought that I could – one is on the motherboard box it says “SATA and IDE RAID compatible”.  Ok, that can be read two ways – I know.  Well, then I actually downloaded the user manual and it describes how to set up a SATA RAID array (in Chapter 5).  So I was a little surprised that it can’t do SATA RAID.  So now I’ve got my two SATA drives set as two separate drives.  No big deal, and for the price the motherboard is a great value anyway.
So my question is that I need to build a second machine that will basically be a clone of the first and I wanted opinions about the hard drive options.  Since I will be playing games and doing some home theatre stuff (watching and recording movies) I would like at least 300G with good read/write specs.  I also want the simplicity of a single drive so it looks like my options are:
    1)   A single large SATA drive (300G or so)
    2)   Two IDE (150G or so) drives in a RAID 0 array
And I just wanted to know what the opinions of the forum are.  Will the performance of the IDE RAID 0 be that much better than the 150Mbps (that I understand SATA can do) to justify it?
Also to do the IDE RAID 0 my understanding is that I would hook one drive to IDE2 and one to IDE3 (with them both set to master) – is that correct?  I would have my DVD-R/W on IDE1 as it is now.
I appreciate any opinions you have on this.  Thanks for your help.

    I recommend 2 x 160GB IDE HDDs, RAID 0 + 1 x 250GB/300GB SATA HDD + Dual Channel 512MB DDR 533MHz RAMs + Enermax 475watts / Antec 480watts PSU + P540 - 3.4GHz CPU.
The 150MBps on SATA is just the theory only, the actual transfer rates is still dependent on the system overall performance so don't rely on it too much as you'll never get to even hit 100MBps on any system in the real world enviroment. This applies to IDE as well.

  • KM266 Combo Boot Problem

My motherboard (KT266) burned-up, so I went down to local store and picked up a KM266 Combo board.  I moved all the components over and attempted to boot up.  I have yet to be successful.  The CPU / System & PS fans will all go ON for about 2 secs - then go OFF.  In addition, I get a two loud beep - followed by two more quieter beeps (probably because power is dying).  Note that I have removed all non-essential components, below is my base boot config:
    AMD XP1700
    Spectek PC2100 DDR 256MB
    SPI 300W PS (3.3V & 5V=180W)
    MSI KM2M Combo (KM266)
Any clues?  Is 300W PS not enough?

    OK.
I swapped PS and still have the same problem.
I swapped RAM and still have the same problem.
I swapped processor to an AMD Duron 600 and the fans will stay ON but the system will not POST.  Even if I remove the RAM, I don't get any BEEP Codes.
(I tried clearing CMOS and verified that FSB jumper is set to 100)
I'm beginning to think it might just be a bad board ??

  • G31M3 v2 ram problem

    Hello everyone,
I have this system for a while:
    -intel q9550
    -2x 2gb Adata 800mhz ddr2
    -cooler master realpower 500w
    -nvidia gtx260 c216
    -hitatchi 1tb 32mb
    -msi g31m3 v2
    -cooler master centurion 5
Last week I tried to test some ram i still had. Before this, my whole setup worked perfectly. Then i pulled my 2x 2gb adata out and putted the other ram in.
    Other ram = (1x) Transcend 1gb 667mhz ddr2
When that was done, I did my power cable back in my pc and booted it up. When I pressed the power button, the fans are starting to turn and i hear a continuous beep and I get nothing on my screen, it says there is no input.
my screen is a iiyama prolite 2710hds
I thought: that ram is broken, i put my good ones back in. I did that and i still get the same error.
I think that it's anything with the motherboard, that's why i post it here. Because i red that the continuous beep means that there is no ram memory in the motherboard.
Thanks for help, I hope i gave you enough information and sorry for my bad english/grammar, I'm a 15 year old student from Holland.

  • Nokia E72 Memory (RAM) Problem

    Hi everyone,
I recently installed Opera Mobile 12 in my phone and have been facing RAM problems a lot lately.... After I surf the internet for sometime, i frequently get the messege showing ''Memory Full: Please Close Some Applications and Try Again''... Its not that I faced this in earlier versions of Opera Mobile but it was less frequent and multitasking was easily possible.... Now, other programs (like whatsapp, mobipocket reader, music player etc) cannot be run along with the browser and most of the time I minimize the browser, it exits and often, it exits while i'm still browsing.... Sometimes, when I get the memory full error, my theme disappears and the default theme of my phone loads up instead.... Can I work a way around this problem?? According to my mobile guard, the Opera eats away around 30-35 MB of RAM... When i boot up, I have around 45 MB of RAM available.... Can I increase my free memory so that I can browse, chat and listen to music side by side with none of the processes getting automatically killed?? I've tried workarounds such as the ''KillMe'' app to close unnecessary processes and although it frees some RAM, the problem still persists... Please help...

  • 915P Combo not seeing optical drives in WinME- HELP!

I just purchased a new computer from Cyberpower with an MSI 915P Combo motherboard and no OS installed (though I'm on my old computer now, an 866MHz P3 running WinXP on an IDE HD).  I have a SATA HD installed in the new machine and a DVD-ROM and DVD-RW drive.  I installled WinME only because the WinXP install disk that I have will not run from the DOS prompt I get when booting with a Win98 startup floppy.  It must be run from within Windows.  Upon finishing up my installation of WinME, I received the following message:
    Quote
"Your multi-function device (Standard Dual PCI Controller) has some child devices using 32-bit drivers and others using compatibility-mode drivers.  This configuration is not supported, so your computer has been halted to prevent corruption.
After you restart your computer, Windows will use compatibility-mode drivers for each child device attached to this multi-function device.  If you want to use 32-bit drivers, you may be able to obtain an updated driver for the device that caused the problem by contacting your hardware manufactured, or you can disable the device.
    Press any key to continue"
…and WinME doesn't recognize the DVD-ROM or RW drives (the IDE controllers are not functioning when I go to the device manager- the yellow ! appears).  So my goal is to install WinXP.  Booting from a startup floppy, I AM able to access the DVD-ROM and RW drives, but as I said, I cannot run my XP install CD from a DOS prompt.  Is there a solution for me short of buying a full-install version of XP that will install from a DOS prompt?
Please, if someone can give a full explanation (I’m pretty good with computers, but I wouldn’t call myself a computer “expert”… though I DO know how to go into the BIOS to make changes, even if I don’t know everything I’m doing there), it would be very much appreciated.  Thank you.

Thanks to those who wrote and helped me.  I think I'm good for now :-)

  • 12 GBs of RAM and Still Have To Render?

My question probably belies some fundamental misunderstanding of the rendering process, and yet I have to wonder.
    Here's the deal:
Latest Mac Pro, 12 GBs RAM
    FCP 7
Basic transitions, e.g. cross dissolve, dip to color, still require rendering.
I get the warning about RT, and have fiddled with that, and perhaps I need to study that more. I also wonder about the original media.
We're mixing HD shots with a sequence set for SD. Is that perhaps what's causing this reaction?
What other info would be helpful to better understand this problem?

12 GBs of RAM and Still Have To Render?
RAM has very little to do with rendering. In most cases, rendering is a task of the processors and in some cases, a task of the graphics card.
As Luca has already stated, FCP, being a 32 bit application, can only address about 2.5gb of RAM. You'll find that working with codecs native to FCP, less rendering (if any) will be required initially.
