  • 8900 Not Connecting to Desktop Manager in Boot Camp

    Hi all
I have a problem in Boot Camp (XP Pro) on my new MacBook Pro. My 8900 shows up perfectly in device manager and I can also browse the media card. When I run Desktop Manager 4.7, it cannot pick up the BlackBerry and it shows as Disconnected. I have tried re-installing Desktop Manager and even tried the latest unreleased version 5.0. Browsing other forums have suggested I take the battery out for a minute and try again and this didn't work either.
I have tried going back to DM 4.7, re-installed Bootcamp 2.1 drivers and installed VMWare Fusion. Nothing gets it connected, yet every time the 8900 shows up perfectly in Device Manager.
I installed on my partners HP laptop and it connected immediately in DM. I really need this to work on my Mac (boot camp preferably) and i simply cannot understand why its not working.
Please help me! What am I doing wrong? I've been trying for hours and so frustrated!
    Thanks in advance...

    Hi,
Are you planning to have Duplex dialers ?
(Assuming it is SIP)If that's the case, you may have to look at the Best Practices for SIP dialer in SRND.
"Use a media routing PG with one media routing PIM  for duplex SIP Dialers. One SIP Dialer is active while another SIP  Dialer is in warm standby mode. One MR PIM is for each SIP Dialer. In a  duplex MR PG environment, each PG side has only one PIM that connects to  the local dialer                     when the Dialer becomes active"

  • Curve 8330 is not recognized by Desktop Manager.... Please help.

I brought home my 8330 and downloaded the Desktop manager (v4.7).  After many attempts for my phone to show that the USB was staying connected, my Desktop Manager still refuses to recongize that my phone is connected.  I am lost as to what to do next.  I have had v4.5 and then tried v4.7.  Can anyone offer and help/suggestions?

  • BB 8900 wont connect to Desktop Manager

Hey guys. My BB 8900 wont connect to desktop manager on my Mac. This seems strange to me, as my bold 2 connects fine. Here is the problem:
    - Connect BB, desktop Manager asks for device password
    - Enter Password
    - Device Manager says "connecting"
    - Then it stops trying to connect
Any idea what could cause this?
BTW - mass storage mode is on
    Thanks in advance!

Hey i tried removing battery but that didn't help

  • Steps to take if BlackBerry is not shown as connected in Desktop Manager for Mac

    Hello Community,
Here is a list of steps you should attempt to try and get your BlackBerry detected in Desktop Manager for Mac.
    1. Make sure you're using the most up to date BlackBerry Desktop Software for Mac.  Which is available to download at http://www.blackberry.com/desktop
    2. If using a MacBook/MacBook Pro make sure the BlackBerry is plugged in the left USB port close to the screen.  If using a iMac make sure you use the USB ports on the Mac and not a USB hub.
    3. Make sure you're using a BlackBerry branded USB cord.  (There are usb cords out there for charging only).
    4. Make sure mass storage mode is enabled on your BlackBerry smartphone. KB Article.
    5. Disable Media Transport Protocol on your BlackBerry smartphone. (Options>Memory)
    6. Make sure your Mac OS X 10.6 is running in 32-bit mode. KB Article.
    7. Make sure ALL other syncing software has been uninstalled and removed off your Mac.  KB Article.
    8. Perform a battery reset on your BlackBerry smartphone. KB Article.
    9. Make sure your BlackBerry smartphone is not hour-glassing or have an application error appearing on the LCD screen. However if there is a JVM 507/513 error appearing on the BlackBerry the Desktop Manager for Mac will pick up the device and reload the software.
    10. Make sure "Open using Rosetta" is not running/disabled on Mac OS X. KB Article.
I will be adding more tips and tricks to this post once I come across them.
Feel free to share with other community members and I always welcome suggestions and comments.

    Hey burko74,
Do you have a media card in your BlackBerry? If so, do you get prompt for mass storage mode?
Also does the mac pick up the media card as a removable hard drive?
Have you tried to do a battery reset as well?
I look forward to your reply.

  • Cannot Connect to Desktop Manager

For some reason I can not get my Playbook to connect to the Desktop Manager.  I have tried on 2 seperate computers (one XP and one Vista).  I have tried deleting and reinstalling the latest version of DM.  I know it's not the cable as I am able to connect my Bold 9700 with no issues.  On the XP computer it just doesn't recognize it.  The Playbook itself goes to the "Connected to Computer" screen, however the device doesn't show up as connected or under My Computer.  In the Device Manager it's listed at a Network Device (With a yellow exclamation point) and when I click on it, it says "Device can't start".  On the Vista Machine it shows up in DM as an Unknown Device and a window pops up saying "Desktop Manager cannot communicate with this device"
Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Try turning off your wireless.  I had the same problem at work.  Our wireless at work is outside the office wired network and the software will not let you connect if your computer is not on the same network as the playbook. Once I turned off the wireless it worked great.

  • 8700r not supported by Desktop manager

i decided to use my "old" 8700r and want to synchronize my ical and address book from my Imac (10.6.8) and desktop manager keeps telling me it cannot support the connected device. I've tried downloading the oldest version of DM and the newest and i still have the same problem. My Imac does see the 8700r when connected. I'm trying to install the latest 8700r software and hopefully this helps but it should of still connected to my 8700r with the older software. Any suggestions ? Thx

    Hi,
They look the same, feel like the same BUT physically they are not the same specially the chemical which covers the surfaces of the dics. This is something to do with the ODD, not the software. I would not continue to create recovery set with those disc's.

  • Torch App Error 606 + Can't connect to desktop Manager

    Hi,
I was backing up my blackberry torch last night and the connection was disconnected during the backup. When the phone restarted the message "App Error 606" / "Reset" came up. I can't do anything on my phone except for reset it, and pulling the battery does nothing.
When I try to connect it to blackberry desktop software it wont connect... I left it for an hour and it still just said that it was connecting.
I also tried connecting to BBSAK and it couldn't connect there either, so I can't reset it to factory settings. I checked the desktop manager and it recognizes the USB port as connected to a blackberry device but that is about as close as I can get to connecting to anything.
I have a backup of all of my information from before this happened so I don't mind completely resetting my phone, but I have no idea how to do this without being able to:
    a) connect it to the computer
    b) do anything except reset on the phone
    Any help would be great!
    Thanks,
    Mike

Try in Safe mode, remove last installed 3-th-party appliction, may be it's help you?
    Safe mode:
When starting the BlackBerry smartphone, safe mode can be used to prevent third-party applications from running automatically. Safe mode is designed to allow troubleshooting or remove any unwanted applications.
To turn on safe mode, complete the following steps:
Remove and reinsert the BlackBerry smartphone battery.
When the red light-emitting diode (LED) light goes out, press and hold the Escape key as the BlackBerry smartphone is loading. See KB05470 for the location of the Escape key. (The Escape key is located on the right side of the trackball, above the keyboard on the BlackBerry smartphone.Use the Escape key to exit a screen, move back a page in the browser, close a message, or close a menu.)
When the dialog box appears, click OK.
Note: Safe mode is indicated by a safe mode indicator in the BlackBerry smartphone status section of the Home screen.
To turn off safe mode, remove and reinsert the BlackBerry smartphone battery.

  • Curve 8330 will not sync with desktop manager after 4.5 OS upgrade

Last time I connected to the desktop manager, it asked me to upgrade to 4.5. I thought, why not? So I did. Since then, I can no longer use the Google Sync for calendar and contacts as it stopped working immedately afterwards.
I realized I need to get my contacts updated on my phone, and my calendar corrected so I tried to sync to the desktop.
The phone is no longer being recognized by the system. This is since the updated. I have downloaded the USB / Modem drivers again but haven't installed / reinstalled them yet.
I was hoping it was maybe a simple fix?
I'm running Win XP Professional SP 3. I am using 4.7 of the Desktop manager. (Worked fine before OS upgrade)
If I haven't given enough details to help, please let me know.
    Thanks!

gallhiser you should still try repairing yours, might be able to sell it and make back some money

  • Curve 8900 not connecting to Desktop Software version 6.0.0.40

I am not able to connect my Curve 8900 to the BlackBerry Desktop Software Version 6.0.0.40.  When I connect via USB it asks for the password  and then it says connecting in the bottom right corner - it never connects.  I also have the Blackberry Device Manager version 6.0.0.11 running at startup but it does say that the device is connected.  There are no errors in the device manager.  I am running Windows XP SP3.

No one else replied, but I seem to have solved the problem, more or less, so I thought I'd report back.  See previous message for the setup.
    1) First attack - make a concerted effort to truly undelete the 2 old versions of Desktop Manager.  The typical list of "how to cleanly uninstall" (link above) is incomplete.  This document is much better: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB02206 .
The part that matters is near the bottom, under Additional Information.  Basically, take a shovel to the Registry and start digging out absolutely every reference to "Research In Motion" using the Edit/Find.  I added to that recommendation a search on "BlackBerry" and even, for good measure, all the Roxio software (and removed the Roxio folders just like the Research In Motion folders).  I can't say which part did the trick, but I could see some of the Install and Uninstall list items go by.
This finally killed the zombie entries in the Add/Remove Programs list, and prevented the Windows Installer attempts on unfindable .msi files.
    2) Problems: In killing Roxio, I may have accidentally munged a Sonic registry entry.  When I installed the Desktop Manager fresh from the CD, it complained about a registry-style confusion with Sonic software.  It allowed me to continue past that point anyway.
I can't fix that, but I will be swapping in new PCs in a couple of months and can live with whatever reduced functionality might be involved.
When I started the Desktop Manager for the first time, I could see Windows Installer popups fly by in the background, but none of them stayed open, and perhaps that will be a one-time problem.  Otherwise, if related to the Sonic issue, at least it's not a functional problem that prevents me from using the Desktop Manager.
    3) I can now connect to the Desktop Manager via USB, but am unable to successfully update the device software.  It goes through the backup process apparently successfully, but issues an error message about "Fatal error" before installing much (any?) of the new software.  Seems to be a benigh error - phone still works.  Because this will be reinstalled on a clean PC in a couple of months, I can pass on upgrading the device software until then.
    4) All I care about is the ability to synch the contact and calendar data and, by god, that seems to be working!!!  And it's much faster than my older BB.
If you're reading this, it's because you have an ongoing nightmare...  You have my sympathy.

  • Why Bluetooth not enabling on desktop manager 4.7

    Hi!!!
I've been trying to connect my BB Bold to my computer thru bluetooth connection but when I go to the connections options on Desktop Manager 4.7 it does not allows for the bluetooth connection. I'm using a Zoom USB bluetooth device and my OS is Vista 64.
I installed the bluetooth device using my Toshiba laptop software.
     Thanksin advance for your help!

    Hello abedauhajre,
Bluetooth pairing with Desktop Manager 4.7 requires the use of Windows Bluetooth drivers. Most Toshiba laptops use their own set of Bluetooth driver which I have seen as an issue in the past.
You might find this KB of use:
How to set up Bluetooth connectivity with BlackBerry Desktop Manager

  • Playbook will not connect with Desktop Software

Playbook won't connect with desktop software any longer. Seems to have started after latest update to 2.0. Still working fine with my Torch 9810, but not with the Playbook. I even tried reinstalling the Desktop software, but no go. Tried to "forget" Playbook, but now I can't even add it as a device any longer!

possible you need to uninstall Device Manager, not Desktop Software.
Disconnect the PB from the computer.
    Uninstall the Device Manager.
Reboot your computer (for good measure)
Connect the PB using the USB cable.
Now you should see a PlayBook CD-ROM.
In that CD-ROM you will find version 7 of the Device Manager, install it.
Once installed disconnect the PB from the computer.
Wait for about 15 seconds then plug it back in.
Windows should detect new device and start Device Manager. It may take up to two minutes for windows to detect and properly install.
Then device manager will map 'z' drive to the PB.
