945GCM478-L Standby Issue

I have had a 945GCM478-L running for a year or so with no issues, the kids do their gaming on and it runs well.  Recently I noticed the kids leaving it on more then I liked so I enabled the power management and set the system standby at two hours.
The computer won't wake up.  It powers on from the ATX power switch with no power or HDD lights.  I have removed the power, unplugged the main board and tonight I will clear the CMOS and remove the battery.
From memory, processor is 3.4Ghz extreme edition. 4 gig memory, Nvidia 9800GT 1Gb, sata HDD and DVD.
Any ideas or comments?

I tried multiple processors, memory and video card combinations with no luck.
What about the PSU?  Did you try a different one?

  • Logical Standby Issue

    Hi Friends,
I have 4 doubts. Please help me to clear my confusion.
    Doubt 1:-
I have one primary and one logical standby database. When i restart the primary database or logical standby database or whenever data is not transffering to standby database, I execute the package "EXECUTE DBMS_LOGSTDBY.BUILD;". Then it starts to transfer the data to standby. My question is executing this package many times will affect the primary database? or my configuration is wrong?
    Doubt 2:-
I configured DGMGRL for both database and i can switch over and switch back to logical standby database. It automatically start to apply the data to new logical standby database. But when i switch back to old primary database, It didnt transfer the data automatically. So i execute the package "EXECUTE DBMS_LOGSTDBY.BUILD;" in primary. Then it starts to transfer the data. My question is my switchback is wrong? or it happens like that only?
Note:- I check the verbose of both database before switchback. It show success.
    Doubt 3:-
When i check the switchover status in logical standby database, It show "NOT ALLOWED". Even though i can switch over by using dgmgrl. Why logical standby database showing "NOT ALLOWED"?
    Doubt 4:-
Is it any possible to view that what commands executing by dgmgrl process in background while it switchovering to logical standby database.?
Because when i try to switchover manually it didnt work. Many times i tried. But in dgmgrl, I simply give "switchover to logdb;", It works.
Please help to me to understand clearly.
    Thank you in advance.

Wrong forum mate. This forum deals with SQL and PL/SQL languages and related issues - not database administration and configuration issues.
The shared memory error is not unusual though ito SQL and PL/SQL. It is often a result of not using sharable SQL - in other words, SQL statements that are not using bind variables.
This causes additional consumption and fragmentation of shared pool memory. The very worse thing to do in this case would be to increase the size of the shared pool. That is akin to moving the wall a bit further away so that one can run even faster and harder into it.
But I'm merely speculating as you may have another cause for this problem. I suggest that you:
    - post this in the [url http://forums.oracle.com/forums/forum.jspa?forumID=61]Database Forum
    - research this error on [url http://metalink.oracle.com]Metalink

  • T400 screen brightness standby issue

When my T400 comes out of standby the screen brightness goes to 100% even though the Power Scheme prior to standby was lower than 100%.  This causes me to have to manually adjust the screen brightness.  Does anyone know how to prevent this from happening? I have the ATI video adapter and I am making power setting changes via the Power Manager.

Is everyone running XP with this issue?  I had the same problem when I got my brand new T400 and after 5 calls to tech support for this and quite a few other nuisance problems they gave me an RMA to send the thing back after I reloaded with an XP set they had sent me thinking I had received a bad copy of XP.  Day before I was going to send it back I went to reload it again to get my info I had loaded off.  Well for whatever reason I chose to load it with the Vista recovery discs instead and it took care of all of the nuisance problems!!  I have no idea why but its not an issue now, all I can figure is whatever software is not checking the brightness when it comes back from standby doesn't properly run with XP as with my few other nuisance issues.  I'm loading 7 this weekend, will update to let everyone know how it works.
(Other issues included the LAN/Bluetooh icons in the task bar next to the clock-even after telling them to "go away" in the properties they failed to do so.  Sometimes the screen wouldn't even come back on after coming out of standby so I'd have to blindly shut it down and reboot.  Wireless connection was sporatic and fingerprint softwarewas finicky in not letting me load fingerprints(that one was a driver update issue though)-Like I said, Vista took care of all of it, not that I'm endorsing Vista because I do bellieve Vista was a total failed attempt at an OS by Microsoft and was released WELL before it was ready and properly tested.  My guess is the software/drivers for all the hardware with issues were developed under vista so it'll work with XP but doesn't like to and will be finicky....)

  • HELP! Variation on Standby issue

OK, so last week I closed the lid on my Thinkpad T400 running XP
After I opened the lid the screen just stayed black.
I had previously set the power manager so that closing the lid did nothing. In other words, my setting was that closing the lid was NOT supposed to standby the laptop.
Restarting did not help at all. After entering my PW at the cntl-alt-del screen, it would briefly show the wallpaper and then the screen would go black. Still does this. Seems like it is going into standby but not sure.
Finally hit on a workaround that works 40% of the time:
Start computer, at the cntl-alt-del screen put system into standby, let it sit, wake it up with power button, log on normally. Only works sometimes.
If I am at work and put it into the docking station it works fine; that is, my 2 external monitors work just fine, no need to monkey with anything..
To try and fix this I have:
    - Updated BIOS
    - Reinstalled Thinkpad power manager (and made sure I set it to NEVER go into standby)
    - Reinstalled video driver
Nothing works, about ready to drop kick this laptop out the window.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Wow...hard to decipher what you said there, but from what I can guess about it, it sounds like you have a BB on a corporate/enterprise BES system, and your system admin has restricted your ability to install 3rd party apps. There is no way around that...you must go see the BES admins and find out if they can relax that restriction.
    Good luck!

  • Standby issues following security update

After installing the recent security update, my iBook now insists that I restart it every time I open it up from standby. Whenever I close the lid and re-open it, I can't carry on from where I left off. I have to restart. It's annoying, does anyone have this problem or a solution?

If after installing Security Update 2007-004 on OS10.3.9 and after waking from Sleep you experience a kernel panic notification (black pane) to reboot with the power button ......... do the following:
Reboot .... then apply /App/Utilities/Disk Utility/Repair Permissions .... shut down .... Reboot while holding down Command-Option-P-R keys together until the computer chimes three(3) individual times ... release keys to complete reboot .... Repair Permissions again ... click the soft Restart .... Sleep the computer then wake it up .... the kernel panic pane should be gone.
It worked for me and I never before had a panic pane on a 15"FP iMac!
P.S. If after the above you still have Airport issues (you probably have the Airport "b" card), go to /System/Library/Extensions and delete all BUT the latest Airport Extension (check by DATE, not the version number).

  • Holster to standby issue

my 8900 doesn't seem to be going into standby when I put it in the holster. Does anyone know why this could be?

    Hi,
I was using my Curve to check options for you.
I should have used the Storm it's closer to your model.
I don't have that option on the Storm either.
    I'll look around some more.
    Thanks,

  • X200 and Standby Issue

I have an X200 that is having an issue going into standby mode.  The first time i attempt to put it into standby works fine.  If i resume from standby and attempt to go into standby again, it remains at the "Preparing to Standby" screen.  It eventually will go into standby, but takes 10-15 minutes.  If I reboot and then attempt standby again, it works fine.

I have multiple X200's that have this issue.  I have tried with and without the power manager software, and have instead opted for Hypernate instead of Standby.  I have users though that would prefer standby.  The issue is the same with the 10-15 mins to go into standby.  First time great, then long wait.
    Thanks

  • Primary - Standby issue.

    Hi,
bdump, cdump, udump, folders are accidentally removed from the primary database and the primary is not coming up now showing an error unable to create audit file.
The standby is also not working properly when i issue the command ALTER DATABASE RECOVER MANAGED STANDBY DATABASE FINISH.
It is showing a series of error messages:
alter database recover managed standby database finish

Please help me come out of this situation.
    Thanks,
    Aswin.

    Hi,
Comment all the parameters of AUDITING in the prameter file and start DB,Dont forget to creat cdump udump bdump directories.
If the primary database size is small u can just create the standby control file in primary database copy it to standby location, then copy all the datafiles of the primary to the standby location and put standby in managed recovery mode.

  • Active/Standby issue.

    Hi.
I've got a pair of ASA5510, who recently experienced a power failure.
The "cluster" got back up and working again.
But I'm experiencing a weird issue.
If i try to edit a bookmark a get the following:
ERROR: % Command not executed because 'show import' command is running
Actually quite a problem, since i can't make changes to bookmarks atm.
    Also looking like this.
Tried to reboot the Standby unit, no effect.
    Anyone experienced this before?
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Søren

Problem solved, initiated a failover after this it worked again!

  • X301 and Wake from Standby Issues

I received my X301 on last Thursday, and really like this computer. Over the weekend, however, I noticed a recurring problem.
It seems to be unable to wake from standby when connected directly (not using the port replicator) to an external monitor. I tried different combinations of entering standby:
    1. Shut off external monitor, then go to standby;
    2. Leave monitor on, then go to standby;
I am using extended desktop for the display properties.
When not connected to a monitor, it seems to be OK. I had selected the option to do nothing when closing the lid on the laptop, but changed that when I noticed this issue. It did not seem to make a difference. I have to hold the power button down and shut off the computer to re-boot.
When I open the lid, the message on the screen is something like going into standby, but it should say, coming out of standby. Regardless, nothing happens. I do not think I have password protected the machine. I may have, but also think I deleted this because I thought that could have been causing the problem. At start up, I do not have to swipe my finger, nor enter a password.
    My OS is XP.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

I have the same issue.  x301.  Win7 64bit.  I called tech sup.  They want me to back up everything and go back to factory defaults.  This never worked.  It was a problem out of the box so I am reluctant.  I uninstalled the access program that shows wireless options and network connectivity.  Now I can wake, but when I do I have no network connectivity.  I have to reboot to get wireless or wired connectivity.  I'm still looking for a cure.

  • Helix 2 - Connected Standby Issues - USB xHCI Controller and Ultrabook Pro Keyboard

    Hi,
my Helix 2015 (20CG001BGE) is somehow not foing into connected standby. The sleepstudy report shows that the Mobile 5th Generation Intel Core USB xHCI Controller has an activity time of 100%, so I think here is the problem.
Furthermore, when I disable NFC the system idle process is taking about 15% of the CPU usage and is preventing the system additionally from getting into connected standby.
Does anybody have an idea how to fix these problems. Thanks!

I installed/reinstalled every driver from Lenovo's website. While the new NFC driver solved the system idle process issue (I don't get why it wasn't updated by System Update), the USB xHCI controller still won't sleep. However, running powercfg -energy I was able to get some more information. It seems that the controller can not sleep, since one of the connected devices won't go to sleep. This device has to be part of the Ultrabook Pro Keyboard, since I do not have the issue when the tablet is undocked. Here are some of the powercfg results:
    Hostcontroller ID: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_9CB1
Hostcontroller location: PCI bus 0, device 20, function 0
    Device ID: USB\VID_2109&PID_2811
    Portpath: 3
    Thanks for your help!

  • Battery Standby Issues...

Hi, I've read about several battery issues posted by others, and usually drainage issues involve leaving wifi on, etc. First of all, I heart my touch, functions perfectly (knock on wood). However, sometimes (but not that often) when I leave it on standby (with no wifi on), the next time i turn it on it either doesn't turn on at all (b/c its drained), or gives the empty sign. I find it happens mostly when I leave it on standby for a long period of time (30 hours+ for example). Is standyby not meant for very long periods?? And it's also a bit chilly in here sometimes, but not too cold. Is this normal?? PLZZ tell me it's not a defective battery problem, b/c it has been soo good so far. Thanks a bunch.. @.@

I have a similar issue. I got mine yesterday -- and my cell standby is consistently at 35-40% and my time without signal has never been over 10%. When I got it yesterday, I had to recharge it twice, and I don't think I used it more than an average user would. So anyway, I recharged it and took it off the charger at 9-ish this morning and I was down to 50% battery usage after 4 hours. The only thing I'd done was text a few times and play Angry Birds for 10 minutes tops. I somehow managed to make it last the rest of the day, but that was because I barely touched it and only texted a total of maybe 50 times.
I haven't tried the *228 option yet because I'm afriad I'll do something to mess up my phone further. But if someone could help both of us out, that would be awesome. I'd hate to take this phone back because I love everything about it except for the battery life. I mean, it's still under warranty and I have another what, 12 days to take it back to the store, but that's a huge hassel that I really wouldn't have liked to deal with in the first place.

  • X61 Standby issue with XP when undocked

    Hi,
Just did a HDD upgrade on my most excellent X61 and after a clean install of XP, I now have an issue with the Standby functionality. Here's the symptoms:
    1. If I restart while X61 is docked, I get normal startup and standby mode works both when docked and after proper undocking procedure. Works as expected.
    2. If I restart undocked, the Standby option in the "Turn Off Computer..." menu is grayed out and sure enough, never goes into standby. I have of course tried to modify power options in the Control panel, but it never gives me the option to go into Standby mode when lid is closed.
I do have dual boot on my X61 with Debian Linux and that supports Standby, no issues.
So, after some background reading, seems there is a possibility that I missed a driver during installation and some HW is not letting the X61 enter standby when it is not docked.
Any ideas which driver this may be??? Though I'd ask before having to through and try to install ALL drivers again
thanks in advance for any input...
    Jeff

Just tried installing lots of stuff I probably don;t need with System Updater. Now I've got:
    - Still no standby when undocked
    - 2 instances of thinkvantage toolbox that does nothing but try to repair "installed fonts" and fails
    - ThinkPad Video Features (Intel GM965) keeps recurring in the updates. When I try, it says successfully installed, but ???
    Any ideas?
    thanks
