945p Neo2 Bios

Anyone has the above Bios for 945p neo2 ver.2a1 for download.
Me accidentally flash my bios to 945pl neo2. Need to revert back to 945p neo2 bios.
Not able to download for MSI website.
Anyone encounter 945p neo2 ver.2a1 M/B cant use MSI Core center utility after install. Prompt for "Failed to load Hardware Monitor Driver !", "No Hardware Monitor !" and "Failed to load Overclocking Driver !". Any solution to the problem.
Thank in Advanced.

Hi Maesus,
Me managed to flash to my original bios . Thank a million.
But still facing the MSI Core Center utility issue. Always prompt "Failed to load Hardware Monitor Driver !", " No Hardware Monitor", "Failed to load Overclocking Driver !" & "Core Center does not support your motherboard !". Already perform liveupdate but no new bios found. Under the release note for Core Center utility,
MS-7176(v1.0,v2.0) is under the support list.

    Hello,
Read Moan Guide and provide full specification about your system including PSU details, (look for them over PSU sticker), example in my signature.
look here how to ID your board:
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=107777.msg798546#msg798546
look between PCI slots for mainboard ID and PCB version.
what is currently BIOS version onboard?
have you tried to load XP? if yes is it fine there?
what BSOD error code you got?
test memory for error(s) with Memtest86
ensure that your Vista is up to date from MS update.

  • 945P NEO2-F bios update

    Hello! I need an advice.
I have the 945P Neo2-f mainboard and Pentium D 805 processor. I noticed there is a recent bios update for 945G Neo2-f that resolves the compatibility issues with Pentium D 805 but there is still no update for 945P Neo2-f.
My question for a moderator or msi support staff is - Do you know when will an update for 945P NEO2-F be done?
I also heard that the bios from 945P and 945G match. I don't know if that is true but if it is, can I use the new 945G bios to flash it to my 945P board?
How much does those BIOS' differ?
Also is there a way to read the bios from cmos on the mainboard?
    Thank you for any help.

    Hi everyone!!!!

The only reason i'am able to reason why someone would try too use the 805-d cpu is the recent articles about how much of a gain a person can get from overclocking the 805-d with its low price tag! I will assume this is the reason someone would try to use the 805-d cpu  when the 805-d cpu HAS THE LISTED COMPATIBILITY OF --NONE--in the compatibility chart for the 945p neo2-f mainboard ! Pentium D (64-bit, Smithfield, Dual Core, FSB533, L2 Cache 2x1MB)
Pentium D 805 (2.66GHz) 533 20---- NONE -----! The word none is listed to the right side of the cpu compatibility chart ! I would assume the word none means none as in doesnt work ,will not work, dont know , never tried it , buy at your own risk ,to see if it will work !---- OFFICIAL DEFINITION OF THE WORD  --NONE --
       1. No one; not one; nobody: None dared to do it.
       2. Not any: None of my classmates survived the war.
       3. No part; not any: none of your business.
    adv.
       1. Not at all: He is none too ill.
       2. In no way: The jeans looked none the better for having been washed.
hence  if the 805-d dont boot up i geuss the word none means it dont work on this motherboard ! lol
Given the numerous typos in the MSI bios itself they could have easily have meant "done." Seriously, do any MSI techs actually read these posts? If so, can you elaborate on why the D-805 has yet to be tested or whether there are known issues using this CPU on this board?

It has already been stated that the Intel 805D CPU is NOT SUPPORTED and yet I just don't understand why there are still some who wants to try their luck and start pointing fingers for their own mistakes! Even for CPU that are listed under NONE, it is to say that end-users will have to try at their OWN RISK! Please read and research for your own good.

    Both ways.
The reason for this thread is to serve as a warning as well as a Pre-Amp for those that wants to run this board with a 805D CPU.
Let us all stop the finger pointing from this point on. No matter how much we trash on, things will still be what they are. Likewise an apple can't turn into a pineapple no matter what though both are fruits.
If everyone does own research well, such will no happen today.

  • Neo2 BIOS 3.3 Disables VIA SATA Raid AND Promise IDE3 RESOLVED

I recently corrputed my VIA SATA Raid installation of Windows by overclocking my FSB.  I have since read that you can't do this, and I definitely learned my lesson.
But in the process of attempting recovery, I upgraded my BIOS from 1.8 to 3.3.  (I know, didn't really keep up on that  =)
Now I have a strange problem.  I can't have both the Promise controller ENABLED as well as the VIA SATA enabled.  During boot, if the Promise controller is Enabled and has an IDE HDD plugged into it (important!) which was created by this Promise controller a few months ago, the VIA SATA section of BIOS boot does not show up.  It will not even show the text where it is looking for attached drives.  Herein lies the problem.
Here are a few scenarios.  If I unplug all drives from the Promise IDE connector, but leave it enabled, it will proceed to the VIA section of BIOS boot right after the Realtek initialization.  It will also show the VIA section of the BIOS boot if I disable the Promise in the Integrated Devices section of the BIOS.
But, if I leave a single drive connected to the Promise IDE connector, and have them both enabled in BIOS (VIA "On Board" is ENABLED and Promise is set to RAID) then the only boot options I see are the Promise section, where it will correctly identify the IDE drive connected to it (remember, it was made a drive by that very same controller chip a few months back) and then proceed to the Realtek initialization.  After that, there is no VIA section at all.
Interestingly, if you hit DEL to go into setup anytime during the scenario where there is no VIA init section, the VIA SATA drives do not show up on the Boot Sequence at all.  It is like it is not there at all, which I suspected since it wasn't showing up during BIOS boot.
SO.  This leaves me with the unfortunate scenario of not being able to use one or the other.  The only thing I can think of is that I updated my BIOS revision.  Please, is someone able to duplicate this, or is there a known workaround?  I would hate to lose half of the functionality of the mboard as far as additional controllers goes.
I will add my config below just in case that helps:
    K8T Neo 2
    AMD 3500+
    2 x Kingston 3500 HyperX 512
    Antec NeoPower 480w
2 x 36GB Raptors SATA (Drives I am attempting to run on VIA for boot)
2 x IDE drives (Maxtor 250GB and WD 160GB) on the Promise IDE 3 channel (sometimes anyway  =)
    2 x CD ROM on IDE 1
2 x IDE drives (WD 60GB and WD 120GB) on IDE 2 (I leave these unplugged during windows install and T/S'ing this problem)
    ATI Radeon X800XTPE
I hope that is all you would need to know about the box.
    Thanks for your ideas.

I trslly would suggest first though to do a Bios reset and then re-examine the problems if any and let's see if we can track and sort them out.
The first thing I found odd is that you claimed to have updated the Bios from 1.8 and there is no version 1.8 for the Neo2's. Their Bios range starts at 3.0 and that is the lowest number you should have been at.
Second let's take a look at your Bios settings. Typically when you flash a Bios you have to go back and reset the bios again to what is needed for your rig. Otherwise the default settings may not allow you to run your system at all properly.
I appreciate your looking at this with me Tiresmoke.  You must be right on the previous BIOS version.  It is my original Neo that I am thinking of for 1.8.  Now that you mention that, I don't know what the previous BIOS version is, but I am now going to assume it was the original.
Tracking through it though has been strange.  Another change I noticed is that my RAM would no longer run at DDR400.  It was stuck at DDR333 no matter what I did.  I had to move the Kingston 3500 that I had from 1/2 to 1/3 to get it to work.  Something must have changed in the BIOS update to make that happen, as it was running fine before that, and differences in operation at that level have nothing to do with whether I corrupted my RAID based windows install.
The boot order is as follows:
    1)  Promise Controller (Press CTRL + F)
    2)  Realtek LAN Boot  (Press SHIFT + F10)
    >
    3)  VIA RAID Controller.
It is #3 that will not show up if there is a drive attached to the Promise controller.  This has got me completely stumped.  Is there a direction we can go with T/S'ing this?
    Thx.

  • Need help flashing 865PE Neo2 BIOS

I recently bought a MSI 865PE Neo2-S and it came with the 1.2 Bios, I can't get a good overclock from this bios, and when I use corecenter to raise the FSB to 250 at 5:4 ratio it shows 3000 mhz but I see no changes in WCPUID etc, so I decided to flash to the 1.52 BIOS, i've already got it here but I hear you can use a flasher instead of doing the old floopy, dos thing
I downloaded LiveUpdate3 but it will flash my BIOS to 1.4 and I just want to install 1.52
I did a quick search around the forums and didn't find much about it, any help would be appreciated

First of all I suggest that you install LIVE MONITOR and LIVE UPDATE utilities.  Secondly, get yourself a new floppy disk.  Allow utility to go online and retrieve updates for your product.  After that the utilty will tell you what it found. follow directions to the T and install any NEW DRIVERS BEFORE YOU DO ANY FLASHING!!! Reboot new drivers run utility (LIVE-UPDATE)and choose BOIS and start. I recomend you select DOS option over WINDOWS option FOLLOW DIRECTIONS IT WILL PROMPT YOU.. DO NOT!! REBOOT!! UNTIL PROMPTED!! GOOD LUCK!  Sean Reilly875

Uh, coincidentally, I'm German (hence the slow part further up!). I found that piece of information a few hours ago too tho. I've tried the same thing of course (got the loop in SFI too, as explained.. then resetted because there was no other option left). Only difference, I then tried to flash from DVDRW and Ramdisk instead of a floppy disk, because .. well, I don't own a floppy disk drive! No luck tho.
I guess I'll try contacting MSI, as Bosskiller suggested.. thank you for your assistance.

  • K8T NEO2 BIOS 9.4 CPU support question

hi i whas wondering if i upgraded to the newest bios version 9.4 if it would still support my athlon 64 3000+ winchester core?.i need to flash to a newer bios in a attempt to fix the dual channel support on the mb.i currently have bios 3.30.could i also switch to a older version for the dual channel to work?.

hi glitch; i had the same dual channel problem...i also have the same board (the k8t neo2) and it is a winchester.  you are not supposed to flash to bios 9.4 with a winchester.  make 100% sure that you actually do have version 3.3 bios...because that is what fixed the dual channel problem for me.  I thought I had bios 3.3 because that's what my startup screen said...but the 3.3 was actually something completely different...wasn't even the bios version.  It took me forever to realize I actually had version 3.0.  Once I updated to version 3.3 the dual channel worked great!

  • K8T Neo2 BIOS flash stops TV card from working

    HI
I've just flashed the BIOS on my K8T Neo2 (6702E) from 3.2 to 9.3 and swapped the processor fron a 3200+ Winchester to a 4200+ X2.  This all went fine and on boot up Windows detected the new chip and installed the multicore HAL.  The computer also redetcted all the other hardware such as graphics sound card ect without problem.  However I also have a Nebula Electronics PCI Digiatal TV card.  When this reinstalled its drivers the computer crashed and rebooted.  All subsequent attempt to reinstall this card result in the same behaviour. I've tried differnt PCI slot and even a complete fresh reinstall of windows but no change, the moment the drivers finish installing it crash's.  Nebula's support told me that there is a recognised incompatibility between there PCI card and the K8T Neo2 in fact they say "the MSI KT8 Neo series will not allow the installation of any Fusion based 878a-based drivers (as used by our DigiTV PCI card). As such, we regret that you cannot use our card with this motherboard".  However I used the card and board together for over a year using the 3.2 BIOS and Winchester.  Nebula now say that they have had lots of customers with the same problem installing there PCI card into this board and think my evidence may suggest that the BIOS is the problem.  They have asked If I would swap back to an earlier BIOS to see if it starts working again.  However I'm a bit reluctant to start messing about Randomly with different BIOS version as the possiblity of a complete disaster will go up.  Anybody any idea why a BIOS change should stop a device working, or any any experience of which BIOS might work??

OK MSI support have responded as follows
    "Hi,
Now we also suggest you flash BIOS to the old version 9.1 to verify, since BIOS 9.1 can support dual core processor. If you don't want to flash BIOS under DOS, it is easy to use another tool to flash BIOS under windows. Please download the tool from the following link:
    ftp/BIOS folder/AWSFI305.
Please download the BIOS from the following link:
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/bios/bos/spt_bos_detail.php?UID=608&kind=1"
I'll have to have a think about this, although I guess it might fix a few other problems that I have.  I assume the windows tool they are referring to is the "live update" If so I thought the general consensus was to avoid using it?

  • K8N Neo2 - BIOS v1.9b5

    Hi,
    K8N Neo 2 BETA BIOS v1.9 build 5.
    Is it good?
    Source : www.msi-forum.de

Actually, this is wrong.  The Bios DOES support x2.  Two guys over at Anandtech have tested it with their X2's and gotten it to pick up both cores and windows is showing both cores.  I've also updated to this bios while waiting for my x2, and it shows "1 CPU" next to the processor ID string when the board is posting.  So,this appears to be next generation bios with support for Athlon x2's.  Once I get my 4800+, I'll add my results, and with any luck, I'll be the 3rd person confirming that this bios does in fact support the athlon x2.

D3kTrix ,why you asking for  someone to test it?.You sould test it your self!!!
I will never put a beta or mod bios ,so i am not going to test it,i will wait for the official.
Now, acording with the "God" Murdok that posted the new bios(taken directly from the MSI),a lot of changes are there and many of them was been asked by him directly to the Msi
Some of the changes are: SMART for the SATA!!
New time table for memory(more options)
                                         Vcore up to 1.7v !!!          b u t   not  x2 support.
so, as far as i understand this is a Bios for  OCers.
What is also interesting, is the Version of it , K8N NEO2 Platinum 1.9B5 .  B5 means that MSI is really have a team that prepairing a lot of different vesions of bios, trying to find the perfect (?) before final realise.

  • 865pe Neo2 BIOS not detected

I have just finished installing the 865pe neo2 and p4 3.0Ghz. When I boot up I get a message that BIOS is not detected. It will nevertheless boot seemingly properly into linux but booting into windows is a bit of a dissaster. I have run the live update from windows and it flashed my BIOS which failed when I rebooted and I had to use the rescue disk that I made b4 I flashed but I still get the message that no BIOS has been found and something about Dram timing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
    Adam

The huge problem is that you CANNOT get to the BIOS.  It hangs before you can get there.  LOL.
Well, I tried using the bios recovery to get to version 1.3, but now it won't post at all.  The D-Bracket says that it is a memory problem, but the memory was fine before changing bios.  I am still working on it...

Hi all, this is my first post being new here, and i was hoping it would be a problem free issue but sad to say i need your help please, ive just installed a K8N Neo2 nForce mobo, with the following components, Geil 2gb ram, saphire x800xl AGP card, 1 main 80gig hd (master) and 1 200gb (slave) hd, and 1 audigy 2 sound card, all seemed ok and i could go into the BIOS to disable the onboard sound, but i need to pop back in the BIOS, but when i reboot and press the DEL key to do so nothing happens i get a cursor flashing were is usualy loads 1 or 2 info and then goes into the Bios but its not doing this at all now, i can load system as normal but cannot enter bios can anyone please help and before i go on i will say im a computer build virgin well this is my first ever build and wiull be last if i cant sort ths out, so please help if you can cheers  ???

  • K8N NEO2 Bios Replacement

Does anyone know if the K8N Neo2 supports bios replacement from places like biosman or badflash?
It looks like there is a PLCC socket, but either its empty or its not removable.
I have a 90nm 3000 Winchester (that I just took by Monarch to get tested and it passed) that won't post. Get all 4 leds on the d-bracket solid. I've tried all possible memory configs. So I am pretty sure it has to be an old bios holding me back, or a really defective board. So if I can order a new bios and just pop it into the slot, maybe its there just in case? would be nice.

Should work with a winchester with one stick of ram, or in single channel mode.
    (2 green slots)
Maybe you have one with a really early BIOS, that won't do that.
I think you will find that a RD1-PMC4 Bios Savior will fit this board (seen someone on here with one) so it's removable.
You either need the correct tool or a couple of bent paper clips.
If you lived in europe, I would suggest http://www.eksitdata.com/_uk/index.asp
Think you would be looking at http://www.badflash.com or http://www.biosman.com/ tho.

  • Neo2 Bios flash from 1.3 to ???? (1.8)

Hi all. I finally have some time now to play with BIOS on my Neo2. I currently have 1.3 official... and just did a quick search I saw we got Bios 1.7 and 1.8 already.
After did a quick reading on other posts... I see people mostly have Bios 1.5 and some goin to 1.8 but not sure if this 1.8 was good
My main concern is to get rid of the Warm/Cold boot different temps... and have some good bios that doesnt stop me from OC-ing...
So what you guys think is the best 1 for now? 1.5? 1.8? other?

Quote from: narchy on 29-May-05, 04:59:23
well i had nomore patience and decided to try it myself. I went with the 1.8 and everything seems fine. Temps seem to be (33C) like 4C lower than 1.3.
Will have to see if the cold boot temp is fixed.
1.8 made my indicated temps go UP 4C!
The cold/warm boot temp reporting issue seems to be fixed though... Unfortunately, mine are always higher now no matter what.
Had no effect on my OC - It's still stable.
