I heavily use my calendar as well as my to do lists on the 9500.
How can I syncronize all the info with my PC (or Mac even better)?

Gentlemen, please excuse me if this has been answered before, I have spend a couple of days googling for answers with not much luck.
Here is my issue. About a month ago, I purchased a Mac Mini Server with SLS, to use it as a family server. The idea was to have our own email, web server etc (which are all working fine), but also I wanted the server to act as a "central point" for user address book and calendar synchronization.
What I mean with that, is that I wanted a central repository of our address books and calendars. We do NOT need to share address books. Maybe we could use a shared calendar, but again, it is not something mandatory, for the time being all we need is to be able to duplicate each member's address books and calendars on the server and in our devices.
Devices to be used as clients:
- One iMac (obviously always connected to the server)
- One MacBook (obviously this is USUALLY connected to the server, but not always). This machine acts as my wife home computer and as my traveling computer.
- Two iPhones (obviously these are usually NOT connected to the server, but they eventually get connected at some time of the day)
Until now, I've been using MobileMe for address book and calendar syncronization and I was hoping that by having the server I could avoid paying $100 per year for that service. Unfortunately, so far, I am unable to use the server for that task.
What I have managed so far, is:
_On the iMac_,
AddressBook: I have duplicated all my address book entries to my account address book on the server. However, for the name of God, how can I keep them in sync? In other words, if I add a contact in my iMac address book, it doesn't get copied to the server address book. How can I do that automatically? I know one answer would be to use only the server address book, since this machine is always connected to the server, but that doesn't solve the problem, see below.
Calendar: I can't find any way to copy my calendar contents to the my account calendar on the server. I can see the two calendars in iCal, but when I enter an entry in the server calendar, it stays in the server calendar and is NOT reflected in my local calendar and vice versa. Again, for the iMac that's not an issue, I could use the server calendar only (provided I can export my current, local calendar entries and import them to the server calendar), but again that doesn't solve the problem, see below:
_On the MacBook and the iPhones_
AddressBook: Now here is where the problem is. If I take the MacBook on a trip and I add a couple of contacts in my address book on the laptop, how can I have them copied to my server address book? As far as I can tell, the only way is to manually copy them. Isn't there a way to do so automatically? Either when I am away (via the Internet, when I'll connect to the Internet) or even when I return back home? I can't always use the server address book when I am away, because I may not always be connected to the Internet, so I need to be able to enter a contact in my local address book, and I need to have it copied to my server address book automatically when I connect to the Internet. Just like I do now with MobileMe.
Calendar: Again, the same thing. I want to be able to add a calendar entry to my local calendar on the road, which will be copied to my server calendar when I connect to the Internet (or the LAN at home). Can that be done?
And of course, the same calendar or address book entries I entered in the MacBook (while on the road), should be reflected back to my iPhone calendar and addresbook, when I connect to the Internet, just like they do now using MobileMe.
Can this be done?!? If so, please tell me how.

P.S.: The server is available on the internet, with fixed IP etc. Connectivity to the server is NOT an issue.

Move all your contacts and calendars to the server. Setup accounts on the server for groups in your family.
We have the following:
Husband
Wife
HusbandWife
Kids
All contacts are stored on server in the various accounts, and each person has access to what is appropriate. Husband/Wife have everything. Kids have less access, but there are three calendars in that section, Both, Child1 and Child2. My wife and I have our own stuff (like to-do's), but most of our appointments are in HusbandWife.
The kids have to put their homework in each week. We put in their other stuff. It shows up on their computers/ipads/iphones, etc.
The key is to get it all to the server. If you change something when you aren't connected it will synch up at the next connection.
Now - here is the tough part. You need perfect DNS to get all this working. Fully qualified public IP address, reverse lookup, etc. etc. with all the ports open. When you think you have it all setup with your ISP call Apple support and have them check it. Without the DNS you'll never get it all to work, particularly the wireless devices.

Calendar syncronizing failure

I have a blackberry 8310, I have just downloaded the BB Desktop software 5.0 on to a new computer. When I try to syncronize outlook with my blackberry the calendar does not update. It does not give me any error, just does not update the calendar.
Can anyone hepl?

In any event, I think that I will suggest the following steps for a complete and clean start over (insert plenty of reboots of your PC...not just restarts, but full power down reboots). Also, it is advised that you be logged into the PC on an account with full admin rights. Further, under Vista, use the "Run As Administrator" option for everything.
1) Remove your device OS update package from your PC (add/remove programs)
2) Cleanly uninstall the RIM DTM software:

3) Get a fresh download of the RIM DTM software:

Choose the version that is newest and (if applicable) compatible with your PIM (if you are synchornizing via USB):

4) Download (to your PC) a fresh copy of your device OS package from your carrier:

5) Install DTM to your PC
6) Install (also to your PC), the device OS package

Q10 contacts and calendar syncronization

Using outlook account, syncronization of contacs and calendar by usb connection fails, with message at the end of the process "writing of the coomit on the device failed". It was not like this at the beginning. Computer and device software are updateted. All other usb options work fine, like sync images and music.Somebody knows how to solve it?

First I did a sync only for calendar and it went through. Then I did the sync for contacts only and got the same error, so the problem in my case is in the contacts. So I generate the BB link logs enabling it in the BB link but without the windows registry modification (I'm not that skilled). The Log has been created anyhow, I went through it and found the line "outgoing payload" (there was only one) where a problem with one contact was indicated. I cancelled the contact on the phone and on the computer and did the sync again, but I got the same error. So I created again the log and found another problem with another contact. After three times I realised that with each try a new error with a different contact was created (only one at a time). So the problem is not solved, calendar sync works fine if done separately, contacts sync doesn't work properly: contacts added on the phone are copied to the computer but any change on the computer is not written on the phone. Maybe the way is to cancel all the contacts on the device and redo the sync from scratch, but I do not know how to cancel the contacts on the device (other than one by one, I have more than 400....) and the risk is not to get the contacts back on the device never again.

Printing full calendar invitation?

I use OS X Mail and iCal connected to my company's MS Exchange server. Sometimes a co-worker sends a calendar invitation (using Outlook) with lots of agenda details in it. I'm trying to find a good way to print that.
iCal has an option to print the day's events in list format, but the output is in two columns and a few of the lines write over each other and are completely unreadable.
If I try to print the invitation as it came to me in Mail, the output has an iCal icon showing the attachment -- not the contents of the attachment.
So, short of copy/paste into TextEdit, Word, etc, is there a clean way to print this

While viewing the message, click on View -> Message -> Plain Text Alternative. (The keyboard shortcut is <option> + <command> + .) Then you'll be able to print the full message, including the event details.

Calendar Syncronization between 6700 and Lotus Not...

Hello, every appointment created on my mobile 6700 appears as "public" on the Lotus Notes server after syncronization.
Questions:
- is there a way to create an appointment on the mobile as "private"?
- is there a way to set a category on a newly created appointment on the mobile?
- is there a way to change the default type from "public" to "private" for the syncronization (mobile >> Lotus Notes direction only) procedure?

SQL Generate full calendar list of dates

I'm trying to generate a list of dates given the current date. For example, for today, March 10, I want the dates from March to be listed. This is for a Calendar application and because of that I need to fill out the calendar with pre and post days. For example, for March, the following dates would need to be included:
02/17/2011
02/28/2011
All the dates in March...AND
04/01/2011
04/02/2011
If you look on a Calendar, it usually starts on a Sunday...depending on where you are. I need all dates returned to account for the extra days before and after the month in question. Do that make sense?

The problem with your query is that you're not taking account of the week number correctly. For example in 2012 there's a tricky part where it can actually be considered that the calender runs over 54 different weeks...

Hotmail Full Calendar/Contacts and Email Sync Poss...

You can set up hotmail to sync calendar/contacts and email (all folders, just like imap) through the N900 but have to set it up as an "exchange" account.
In the email client add new account and select "exchange" and put in your username and password. The next page will ask for the server which is m.hotmail.com - leave the domain empty. Select SSL (which it does by default.) Then set up your sync parameters.
This is nice for consumers who don't have a work exchange account that takes care of syncing for you.
If you run Outlook - you can use the Outlook connector to sync your contacts/calendar to Hotmail - which will then sync onto your N900. This way you won't have to use Ovi or PC Suite to sync...
Just passing along... I searched and found some info on this for other Nokia devices - but nothing for the N900 so I thought I would mention it.

kudos for that, since i upgraded to pr1/2 i've been changing between both google and hotmail, but after pr1.3 i decided to stay with hotmail.
anyways here are the settings to get google account working :
Calendar AND contacts sync settings can be created by:
1st Open settings menu.
2nd Open "Email for Exchange" submenu.
3rd Filling in the fields as:
a. Server: m.google.com
b. Port: 443
c. Secure connection: check yes
d. Conflict resolution: your choice
e. User name: [email protected]
f. Password: your password
g. Domain: leave blank
h. Synchronize e-mail: leave unchecked.
i. Synchronize calendar and tasks: check yes.
k. Calendar: N900 (to populate existing calendar) or create a new one
j. Synchronize calendar back: your choice
k. Synchronize completed tasks: your choice
l. Synchronize contacts: check yes
m. First synchronization: your choice
A note of caution: For this sync to work your calendar must be empty. If you have already used the synchronization tool to transfer the calendar data from your old phone to your n900 it will not allow you to write the Google calendar data from the server into it. The n900 calendar will remain as a local, unsynchronized calendar and you must create another calendar for synchronization purposes. However, I believe this is not the best way to go. Instead, if you have already transferred your calendar data from your old phone open the n900's calendar, select all, and delete. Then the Google server will synchronize its data with the N900 calendar.

Multiple calendar syncronization

I just added the latest device software update and had all of my calendar items reset to the incorrect device caledar. When I reset it on the device the desktop manager deleted all of my previously existing calendar items from outlook. So now I either have to revert back to the incorrect device calendar with the wrong "send using" email address to save my calendar items back to outlook. Maybe there is a solution that won't take me hours of unnecessary tedious work.

E90! Can we finally get text in calendar's weekly ...

This feature is missing even from the latest communicators but was available even in my Palm Vx back in 1997! Now with the E90 do we still have to browse day by day to see what is our week like? Or can we finally get a decent weekly view where there are seven columns from monday to sunday and all appointments etc. listed in that day's column with small font? That cannot be too difficult to program and it would make such a difference. Iphoto calendar is a mess, can we get a pro calendar in aperture?

I am making a calendar using the aperture library in iphoto and having lots of troubles.
When i have added the photos to their positions, i find that i need to edit some photos to fit their neighbours, and then having to close iphoto, open aperture and edit them, yet those changes fail to show up in the applied photos, so have to edit outside the project and replace the photos...
Also while working on this project my library is locked so i cannot open aperture without closing iphoto, even if i want to work on entirely different things, interrupting a normal day workflow.
When i reopen iphoto it has forgotten my position and just shows the full calendar again, forcing me to search again for the place the photo i have edited in aperture or to replace with another i have found that fits better.
The calendar templates are quite limited, on a few pages i wanted to place more photos or have other orientations which is possible when making a book, and the size of calendar is relatively small, could be good with a possibility of making professional calendars one step bigger.
Is there any way to tell apple that there are many who would need a proper calendar inside aperture, to be able to make professional products or who have migrated from iphoto being used to making calendars and cards and wanting to continue that in what should be a better program?
Even having the exact same calendar available in aperture would be huge benefit, and ensure many more being made!

How are you switching between Aperture and iPhoto? When I use the commands "File > Open Library in Aperture" and "File > open library in iPhoto" to switch back and forth between the application, the iPhoto will open with the calendar selected, when I switch back from Aperture, albeit not on the calendar page, that I last viewed.

How can I transfer calendars from my iPhone to ical on my Macbook?

Does anyone know if there is a way to transfer calendars which appear in ical on my iPhone to ical on my Macbook? There doesn't seem to be an option for this in iTunes or iCal. I have a Macbook with 10.5.8 OSX, and I have icloud installed on my iPhone.
I hope someone can help!

I have the same problem. Have you gotten any answers? I thought that the merge option (which I found somewhere in iTunes Sync for my device/iPhone) would take the full calendar on my iPhone and "merge" it with the empty one on my iMac. The iMac is still empty.
