96 hours to build a blue-ray project???
Hi again,
just taken a look of my project running and I felt my heart in my throat!!!!!!
96 hours to build a project!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is a BR project, edited in two languages and it is 2 hours and 10 minutes long.
Everything (filmed menus and main film are mpg2 Blue-Ray (high quality standard Adobe settings)
No trascoding.
Is it ok for blue-rays ( it's the first time I work with BR)
Thanks in advance
Sorry sorry sorry.
False alarm.

Trying to Create DVD from Blu-Ray Project
I'm a fairly new user to Encore CS4. I was able to successfully create a Blu-Ray project using HD video - the actual video is a little over 3 hours. It took about 30 hours for the project to transcode and burn. I'm now trying to take that same project and created a single layer DVD. I'm really struggling with this even though the software says I should be able to do this. So I set all my settings up to create the DVD and started the process. It was trancoding the video for 6 straight days!!!!! When it finally got finished with the transcoding process I got an error that said this aspect ration was not supported by DVD!!! So I'm confused at what I'm doing wrong. First, I don't think the transcoding process should be taking that long. Second, if the aspect ration is not correct, could it tell me that before it spends 6 days transcoding the video? Third, I'm trying to burn the DVD using the same 16:6 widescreen aspect ratio, so I'm not sure why it's telling me the aspect ratio is not correct. But what frustrates me the most is that it took wasted days before the software told me it didn't like the aspect ratio.
I know there's products on the market that will basically copy a Blu Ray to a DVD and are supposed to do that in something like 4 -5 hours. Why on earth would Encore be taking 6 days to transcode my video.
Anyway, if anyone has any ideas please let me know.
Thanks! Thanks, I'll try these suggestions next. I had found a post from "janaiott" suggesting to select "interpret footage" then choose "conform to SD NTSC Widescreen". They said that worked for them. This post was titled "Use the same project to export to both BR and DVD?"
I tried that and restarted the build. The video transcoding went much quicker - instead of running for 6 days it finished in 2 days. However, at the end of the transcode process I once again recieved the aspect ratio error. My exact error is:
PGD "Sequence 01/Band.prproj" has an error at 88.8888s. The aspect ratio of this file is not supported by DVD. - PGC info: Sequence 01/Band.prproj =Bpgc, time=88.8888s.
I'm still just baffled why Encore can't be smart enough to tell me it doesn't like what I'm doing before it spends all that time - what a waste of time! I really don't mind waiting 2 days as long it works
If anyone else has any suggestions, please post - but I will move on to the next suggestion and see what happens. Just too bad it will take at least 2 days to know whether it works or not -
CS6 Error Message When Burning a Blu Ray Project to DVD
Hi,
I'm trying to burn a Blu Ray project to DVD and I'm getting this message when I try to build the project:
The project is an excerpt from a larger one and contains only 2 video files and no menus. However it's particularly worrying because the project from which this is an excerpt is large and complex. I have created it as a Blu Ray project but my final deliverable is DVD. I really don't want to have to rebuild as a DVD project because it took half a day to link up all of the menus and chapters.
Is there something I need to do in my encode settings?
Thanks in advance. Thanks for your reply John.
It's extremely frustrating that this is the case. I'd have started with a DVD project in the first place had I not read this: http://helpx.adobe.com/encore/using/building-finished-project.html , specifically the following excerpt:
"You can build the same project to DVD and Blu‑ray formats no matter which format you select in the New Project or Project Settings dialog box. Encore makes the appropriate adjustments to transcode the elements to the correct format."
Reading that gave me the confidence to go ahead and build as a Blu Ray. I now have to find another half day to rebuild the project as a DVD.
Thanks again for the information. -

DVD Remote "skip" Function Doesn't Work for Blu-ray Projects (CS5 Encore)
I have graduated from SD to HD and I need help.
I just finished my first HD project in CS5, burned it to a Blu-ray disk and immediately encountered a problem: the skip forward and the skip backward remote functions don’t work. (I have encountered several other problems on the way to get here but I solved those with the help of the manual and by browsing this forum ). In this project, I am doing exactly what I have done in my previous SD projects (where this function works):
In CS5 Encore, I added “Chapter Points at Intervals…”.
On the timeline Properties Panel, I kept the default selection “Operations: All Permitted” (that includes “Search for Chapter” in the “Permitted User Operations” menu).
In the “Project Preview” window, clicking on the “Next Chapter” or “Previous Chapter”, the function is executed correctly.
Still, after burning the blu-ray disk and pressing the “skip forward” or “skip backward” buttons on the Blu-ray player (Panasonic DMP-BD65) remote, the “Operation is not permitted” message appears. (This very remote button function works on all my SD projects.)
More background info: I am also using Encore Chapter Markers from the PrPro project linked with Adobe Dynamic Link, chapter marker End Actions (Jeff’s The Focal Easy Guide to Adobe Encore DVD 2.0, pp. 178-180), and Bill’s advice on using the “dip to black” transition to avoid the ~1 second gap between chapters in the Chapter Playlist that I use to play all chapters. The following observation may be unrelated: in Encore’s Monitor Panel, the “Step Forward” button with pressing the Alt key does not move the CTI to the next GOP mark. The “Step Forward” or “Step Backward” functions (without pressing the Alt key) work (moving the CTI one frame)..
At this point, I desperately need the Forum’s help.
Thanks,
- Laci.Up to now I worked only with standard definition projects and outputted them
to DVDs. This is my HD project. My problem is that I am a bit confused with
the proper (and simple) settings for a blu-ray project. Your
questions/comments imply that I am making a "DVD project" - but then, how
can I burn it to a BD?
Here is what I am doing, and please, let me know if/where I am making my
mistake:
1. On the camcorder the recording format is set to "AVCHD 1080/60i
HA".
2. In the CS5 PrPro new project:
a. General > Capture Format: HDV
b. New Sequence > Sequence Preset > AVCHD > "AVCHD 1080i30 (60i)".
3. In Encore: File > Project Settings > Basic:
a. Authoring Mode: "Blu-ray"
b. Transcode Settings: "Codec: MPEG-2; Dimensions: 1920 x 1080; Frame
Rate: 29.97, Fields: Upper Field First, Audio Transcoding Scheme: Dolby
Digital, Maximum Audio/Video Bitrate: 15.0 Mbps"
c. In the "Default Transcode Settings" window, the Blu-ray tab is
highlighted. (There, I could change the codec from MPEG-2 to H.264 -
according to some articles it would give slightly better quality in certain
circumstances - I don't know.)
d. On the Encore Project Panel, right clicking on the sequences, and
choosing "Transcode Settings" from the menu, I get a window that says "DVD
Transcoding" and "Blu-ray Transcoding". In the Blu-ray Transcoding section,
I choose Codec: MPEG-2, Dimension 1920x1080, Frame Rate: 29.97, Quality
Preset: Automatic Using Project Settings.
e. Going into the "Edit Quality Presets", I change the "Export
Settings Preset" to "1920x1080i 29.97 Maximum Quality" (from the 1280x720)
4. Now, in the Project Panel, under the Blu-ray Transcode Settings I
see: "1920x1080i 29.97 Maximum Quality MPEG-2".
Are these the correct settings for a high quality Blu-ray project? I am
re-transcoding the project with these settings to see if I still get the bad
transitions.
Thanks for your advice,
Laci. -

Hello
In the lower right corner of Enc you should have the Library which has all the menus, buttons, etc.
In the general tab you will have blank HD menus, both wide and standard and others.Pull the one you want into the project window
and then pull your jpeg onto the blank menu. You can then scale it, or open it in PS.
Hoped that helped.

Hi,
I recorded with a professional Sony HXR-NX5E camera a video. The recording time should be around 130 minutes.
I have files from 00000.MTS to 00010.MTS with a total disk space of 19,60GB
Now, I wish to create a DVD and a Blu-ray media and would assume all I have to start with is creating a correct project like this one:
PAL AVCHD 1080i 25 (50i). Is this correct so far?
Now my problem is trying to understand, up front, if i will be able to fit this project into a Blu-ray disc like this one (Verbatim BD-R SL Datalife 25GB 6x Wide Inkjet Printable).
I tried to run an export and selected H.264 Blu-ray but the output file is 226922 MB which is way too large and was puzzled if this will work or not.
Please note that I have not created any Blu-ray project before. (any reference guide you can provide me with will be of great help).
Can someone please guide me through trying to understand if I can fit this video into 1 Blu-ray disc? Perhaps at the time of creating the Blu-ray disk it will shrink it down?
Thank you

This is my workflow in general...
U can see that in your video info that your video haves now :
Bit rate : 21,2 Mbps
Maximum bit rate : 22,0 Mbps
and only 19 gb
Adobe preset is hd 25 i and tries to make a video with target bitrate of 25 and max 30, so it will render more .... -
CS4: maximum buttons for a blu-ray project
Hi,
I've a project with 6 languages (about 180 Buttons each language).
I burned it as a normal SD-DVD. No problems there.
But when I tried to burn it as a BD I get a error message.
The Original message is german and could look more or less like this in english:
Blu-ray-Object: "<Button>Menu/1", Error: "Counter overflow", Code: "2", Message: "maximum 999 titles per project (Spec Annex B)"
Does that mean that you can use a maximum of just 999 Buttons for a blu-ray project? Or what else could that mean?
If I can just use 999 Buttons how should I realize a project with more Buttons? I mean, 1k Buttons are not unusual for a Service-DVD.
Greetings from Germany

Transacoding Blue Ray project in Encore CS4 gives error!
I am transcading a high def (AVCHD) project fo a Blue Ray image on my hard disk.
The transcaoding runs for about 6 hours and when done it gives me the following error:
Blue-ray Error:"device not ready", Code:"3", Note: "File can not open.(G:\MyDojo\cruise to alaska-2010\AuthorScriptHDMVSessions\-sessionFile_Asf-session_1_video.m2v.ves) -
The path is a valid path and the file exists.
Every time I try to rebuild, not having exited Encore, results in same error within seconds. Exiting Encore and re-building, starts the whole loooong process over.
Any ideas? Please help.

Encore freezes when tyrying Blue Ray project
I am doing my first Blu Ray burn and am having some issues....
I have my footage and am using Dynamik Link to send to Encore.......when the Encore options come up, here is what I choose.
I switch it to Blue Ray....change the dimension to 1920 x 1080 as that is what my video's were shot in
I leave it as MPEG 2 and leave the frame rate at 29.97
I don't touch the advance settings which are currently at Transcoding 15.0 MBPS.................Audio transcoding Dolyb Digital
then it doesn't let me change the player....Adobe player
I click OK and it brings my project into Encore.......the only thing is it starts on the build page and has it set to DVD saying i've used 3.78 gig.....i have an hour of footage, so this can't be right. I go to change it to Blu Ray on the build and it freezes everything on my computer.
I've got a decent set up.....plenty of space and power. Any thoughts? I need this for mothers day. :]Encore Roxio component problem http://forums.adobe.com/thread/400484?tstart=0

Extra GB in Blu-Ray project?
I have Encore CS5, and am trying to create a Blu-Ray disc. I used Sorenson Squeeze to produce a 22GB mpeg, but once I import it into Encore (non-transcoding), it says my project is oversized at 27GB. My menus, assets, and audio track add up to less than 1GB. So where are the extra GB coming from? Thanks in advance.
New response to your first post. I'd like to hear from anyone else who can a) provide more accurate numbers and/or b) give us an update on this problem in CS5.5 and generally.
Encore appears to estimate too high. I do not know if this was corrected/improved in CS5.5 (Encore 5.1). Also, I believe Encore is reporting GB based on 1,000 bytes rather than 1,024. (Or is it the opposite?)
My tests yesterday suggested that Encore is adding about 15% to the Windows Explorer reported "size on disk" using bytes rather than the summary "GB." So your 22GB file is 24,159,191,040 bytes. If you have no motion menus, the additional overhead on disk may be minimal, but it will not be nothing. Encore's report of 27GB may be the more commonly reported
The more important problem is that a "25GB" bluray disk only holds 25,025,314,816 bytes, which is more like 23.3GB.
You also will find that there are small differences between BD-R and BD-RE. A BD-RE in imgburn is reporting 22.56GB (24,220,008,448 bytes). (When building images, you will see an option in Encore for the type of image BD-R or BD-RE.)
So I believe that a 22GB mpeg, Bluray ready so no encoding, with some additional overhead and menus, may not fit on a "25GB" disk. -
Blue Ray Project done - time for SD
Ok I have fininshed my Blue Ray projct and made my iso. Stupid question time. Can I go to project settings and change the project to DVD to make my SD or should I start a brand new project? Thank you.
I have not done this, and what we see here in the forums are examples of problems trying to do this.
But Adobe has designed the Encore project settings to do just this.
If you have popups or multipage menus, they will not work in DVD, and this reduces the chances of your saving time rather than just doing a new DVD project.
If not, I would do a final "Save" of the BD project, change the project settings to DVD, do a "Save As" (to try to protect the BD version) into a new directory and with a new name for your DVD project, confirm the menu settings are 16:9, check the DVD transcode settings, set the build to DVD and the output to folder or image (for testing), and see what you get.
Is anyone using the same project successfully going from BD to DVD? Are there other steps to cover? -
Is it possible to burn a SD DVD correctly from an Encore CS6 Blu-ray project and content?
Hi all,
I shot and edited AVCHD 1080i30 (60i) square pixel video from a Sony NXCAM HXR-NX5U camcorder in Premiere CS6. I then exported the 1920x1080 edited mpeg2 blu-ray m2v file for import into Encore Cs6. Burning a blu-ray disc in Encore CS6 from this mpeg2 bluray m2v file is no problem and look great even with the default settings.
However, I also want to burn a standard DVD using the same HD Encore CS6 project without having to go back to Premiere CS6 and output a 710x480 mpeg-dvd file. I thought i could simply select the dvd format under the build tab in Encore thinking Encore would handle all the necessary conversions to burn a 720x480 DVD but the menus look jaggy and the video does not play smoothly.
Is it possible to burn a standard DVD correctly from an Encore CS6 HD project and content, or is it better to have Premiere CS6 output a 720x480 mpeg-dvd file and create a new standard 720x480 dvd Encore project instead?
Acording to Encore Help, it says "You can build the same project to DVD and Blu‑ray formats no matter which format you select in the New Project or Project Settings dialog box. Encore makes the appropriate adjustments to transcode the elements to the correct format.", but i'm not convinced Encore is doing things correctly.
Thanks.Jim,
I tried a variation on your suggestion.
I exported a new m2v file using the mpeg-dvd from Premiere CS6 as you suggested with "Use Maximum Render Quality" checked to get better scaling from HD to SD. I imported it into my Blu-ray EncoreCS6 project by using the "Replace Asset" option and changed the "Project Settings" authoring Mode to "DVD" leaving the HD menu's "Aspect Ratio" at 16:9. I then built the disc using the "Build" tab DVD format and output settings.
It worked!
The jaggies are gone (except for some motion jaggies) and the DVD plays well.
I suppose I could have done something similar within Encore but I'll test that some other time. -

PE4 with MF6 + trial version, help with Blu-Ray project
Is there a work flow I can read up on to accomplish this. I have a Canon HV20 HDV media. Use HD Split import M2T files into PE4 preset 1080i 30, render than save to desktop as same. The file is 1440x1080. I'm trying to make a high definition disk to playback on our Pioneer Blu-Ray player. Using Movie Factory 6+ trial version. Thank you.
Thanks for the reply Paul I appreciate that. Let me go back over what I've done so far as my last post was incorrect. Moved M2T clips from HDsplit into PE4 with a new project setting of NTSC-HDV 1080i 30. Saved to computer with a select MPEG pre-set HD 1080i 30. The short clip plays fine with WMP and properties is at 1920x1080. Using MF6+ I would like to burn my high definition movie clips to a standard DVD to be played back in our Blu-Ray player. Are these the right steps so far to import the clip into MF6+? I just recently downloaded the trial version but last night I found a help/info section in MF6+ so I plan on reading through that to get acquainted with their terminology.
Will I be burning a data disk to make this work? Maybe a couple of cliff notes to get me started so I can better understand how to do this. Your advice and suggestions are welcome.
