970a-G46 just 3 beeps and no video
I am having this same issue. I have reset the CMOS numerous (10-15) times and I still get the same 3 beeps. I have tried the RAM in another machine and it works fine in another machine. I have unseated and reseated the RAM too many times to count. What could I possibly be doing wrong?

One long repeating beep and no video output
Sometimes when switching on a system build with KT6 Delta , I get one long repeating beep and no video output. The problem usually is solved if I unplug the monitor cable from the vga card and plug it in again. Still, I am thinking why does this happen since the cable seems to be connected fine?
1 Beep: DRAM refresh failure
Explanation: The system is having a problem accessing the system memory to refresh it. Refreshing is done on all system memory to keep its contents active.
Diagnosis: This code usually means a problem either with the system memory or with the motherboard itself.
Continuous Beeping: Memory or video problem
Explanation: The system is producing constant beeping in no specific pattern, or a fast "ringing" sound.
Diagnosis: This is usually caused by a problem with the system memory, or possibly the video card. The memory is more likely--the system complains long and loud if it can't find any usable memory, as there is no way to even start the boot process when this is the case. The motherboard itself could also be the problem. -
Occasionally when starting my system (MSI KT6V-LSR, Barton 2600+, 512MB Kingston Valueram DDR400) I get 3 beeps and no video. Any ideas why?
I think it's 3 short beeps, but I doupt if this is a faulty memory problem. The problem rarely occurs (say one out of ten times the system starts) and as far as I remember I have checked the memory with memtest after buying and there were no errors. I can check it again but I have never seen a faulty Kingston memory module before. Could this be something else?

NEW 970A-G46 - No Error Beeps, No Video...
I had a 785GM-E51 with a AMD Phenom II 655 Processor that stopped working on me. It turned on, the fans and hard drives started but nothing was running on the screen. After checking the GPU, memory, and power supply I found a crack in the mainboard near the CPU (no idea how it got there). When I plugged in my POST card it sat at 0000 (I was not getting any error beeps).
So I bought a new board: 970A-G46. I got everything plugged in, the CPU reseated and this time it POSTs but it stops at the code d6d6 with nothing on the screen (again I am not hearing any error beeps). I can't find this code anywhere online and was wondering if anyone has seen it before or may know what it means? I've also rechecked the memory (one stick at a time as I don't have any extra DDR 3 laying around) and GPU. My memory isn't listed as having been tested on this motherboard, but I can't see why it wouldn't work. Any help would truly be appreciated.
Mainboard: MSI 970A-46
CPU: AMD Phenom II 955 - HDZ955FBK4DGM
GPU: 9600GT DDR3 1 GB
Power Supply: Corsair TX750W
RAM: 2 sticks of Kingston 4Gb - KHX1333C7D3K2
Hard Drives: 2 320Gb Seagate - ST3320820AS
POST Card: Gino 4-Digit PC Mainboard POST Diagnostic Analyzer Test Cardno problem pTrick I'm happy it fixed your problem as i suspected that it was just reading the AMI error/post codes that are 2 symbol hex codes and displaying it twice on your 4 number display card!
have fun with your now working computer and thank you for reporting back ... -
One long beep and no video on boot
Just wondering if anyone could help me out with this little problem I seem to be having. I've checked all the connections to the board and everything is right. When I try to boot up all i get is one long high pitched 4 or so second beep that loops every 2 seconds and no video (using onboard video) or anything else.
Even tried using a small 4x video card to see if that was the problem.
System Specs:
MSi p4mam-l microatx mobo
VIA Vt8751a & VT8235 chipsets
p4 2.0ghz celeron processor @400fsb
Corsair ddr266 mem
award 430w power supply
wd 40gb ata100 hdPretty long beep but I finally figured it out and got it fixed. Stupid board was flaking out over the corsair mem for some reason. It took six different sticks of ram before i found one that the damn thing would boot up to.

I have windows 8.1. I have downloaded the mts files from my video camera onto my hard drive. I have loaded a subset of these mts files into premier elements and they show up fine. I can bring them to the time line without a problem. The issue is that when I click on them, I only get the audio and no video. Normally when you click a thumbnail, the picture shows in the large screen. That screen remains blank.
John - thanks for your response
1. Graphics Adapter: Nvidia GeForce GTX 650
2. My driver before you response was 3/4/14 9.18.13.3523. I went to Nvidia and downloaded and installed latest driver 7/2/14 9.18.13.4052
3. Rebooted and checked APE and no change in the problem. Still doesn't show video when I double click an thumbnail or if I single click it does not show a video image in the large screen.
4. Some things I have done to try to resolve the problem.
a. Searched this forum for a similar problem. I didn't see one.
b. Did a web search to see if I could find a solution outside this forum
c Went into "edit" and tried some changes in project preferences and setting to see if that would make a difference
d. Tried to contact Adobe support to speak to a person but that seemed difficult and could never figure out how to do it.
5. I have always loaded AVI clips into this program and this is the first time I have tried MTS files. When I opened the new project, the program notified that I had to change something??? to load an MTS file and asked me if I wanted the program to do this for me. I said yes and here I am. I seem so close to making it work. Thanks -
Just updated Skype and my Video Drivers and now everything is crashing
I have seen some of the threads here when i goggled why my computer started crashing and most threads asked for the DxDiag file as well. Just wondering if someone would know what my problem is?I have just updated Skype and my Graphics Drivers today, (read: Radeon 2xx Series Gfx Card, with the proper, and most up to date drivers.) and now I keep getting BSOD's and things when I have a Skype window open, and try to run a game like Warframe on Steam. I have in the past, before these updates even suffered from the Graphics Drivers Crashing when I recieve or make a call with skype, just wondering if that may be an underlying problem as well. All the best and thanks for any help you may have.
Try to uninstall the currently installed version and install the 6.14.0.104 Skype version using the download links provided here: http://community.skype.com/t5/Windows-desktop-client/ASUS-USB2-0-Webcam-not-recognized-by-Skype-6-18... I now am convinced that it was a bad board. I did notice that when I placed the Memory boards in the ECS that they went in easly not like the MSI board where you had to push them in hard to seat. Anyway thanks for all of your help and I might need it again when the MSI replacement board arrives

with the 3 beeps the motherboard is telling you the problem is the Memory sticks. i have a trick using a white soft eraser (white means no colorants in build), pass it on the golden contacts carefully like erasing a text, and ONLY by the memory´s golden conductives contacts. then install only 1 memory and try it
in a few cases and depending where u live, some corrosive film is created over those contacts and in the Memory´s rail of the motherboard. if that solve the problem i suggest contact an technician to clean deeply the motherboard memory´s rail.

3 beeps and blank screen on KT6 Delta
Occasionally on startup, I get 3 identical beeps and no video on screen. By just pressing the vga card on the agp slot slightly and restarting, it seems to solve the problem (although I think that maybe the vga card is not the problem). Any ideas?
Dude, that's really a poor psu!
You need a psu with more than 25A/3.3V, 35A/5V, 18A/12V, 180W combined power. -

After standby AirPlay Mirroring tranfers only sound and no video
After standby, my Mac (mid 2012) with Yosemite is just transferring audio and no video to Apple TV (the newest one)... When i Reboot the mac all works great.
What is the problem please ? Thanks for any help !You have to follow the following two steps when doing AirPlay from iMac:
Step 1: Open System Preferences and click on sound. Then Click on the output tab and select Apple TV instead of Built-in
Step 2: Click on AirPlay on the Menu bar and Click on Apple TV as you have already done.
It will work just fine. The trick is that you have to set the Sound option BEFORE you send the video to ATV. I don't know why this is but it is not automatic unlike MacBook Air. When you turn off AirPlay you have to change the sound option to Built-in to go back to listening to sound on your iMac. -
My macbook pro just started beeping. What can I do?
I dont know why but it just started beeping and everything is not working, what can i do?
Since you make no mention of which OS you have nor when the beeps occur.........
If you have AppleCare, give them a call. If not, take your MBP to your local Apple Store or AASP. Let them properly diagnose the problem and provide you w/a repair estimate.

I had 970A-G46 with FX-8320 with radeon HD 7870 working fine for several months.
One day while I was playing a game everything went dark and there was burned
electronics smell. After that computer wasn't responding on power up. I tested PSU (CX500M)
in another system and it was working fine. I RMA-ed the motherboard and just received
a replacement.
I put the system back toghether on a table with a small video card (I think it's radeon 5450).
Now when I power it up all 4 blue led lights on top of motherboard come up and cpu
fan is spinning. But I get no beeps (I have a small speaker plugged in into motherboard JFP2) and no video.
Things I tried:
disconnect everything other than ram cpu and videocard
re-seating everyting
trying different video card
moving ram into different slots (I tried 2+4, 1+3, 1+2, and now I have one stick in slot 1).
Clear CMOS (shorting jbat1 pins 2-3 while system was off).
removing battery for 15 min.
using a different PSU (antec TP-750C)
double checked that I have both 24pin and 8pin power connected
moving video card to a different pci-e slot.
Regardless of what I tried I have no beeps during boot and no video.
But system looks live - four blue leds on motherboard light up and cpu fan is spinning.
Does anybody have an advice ?
Can this have something to do with mismatch between FX 8320 and version of bios ?
Am I supposed to hear beeps during normal boot ? I read in one of the posts in this forum
that msi motherboards dont beep during boot anymore. Is this correct ?

Unfortunately I don't have another am3+ cpu/board to test.
I am trying to figure out what to do next.
I would buy another cpu if I knew for sure that the cpu is bad.
you can't be sure of this until is tested somewhere.
you need to swap parts to see what is working and what not.
you need a second PC or other parts that you can use in your PC

From reading forums it looks like cpu failure is something very rare.
when electric accident was involded, everything is suspected and can be burn less than second.
so for this case wouln't be a surprice if the CPU is burned.

I want to make sure that this isn't something like old bios version not supporting FX-8320.
you can't be sure of this since you don't know current mainboard BIOS version,
and don't have another CPU to try which is supported since initial BIOS version
to verify what is the board BIOS version and is it BIOS issue, or bad CPU problem -
Hi,
I've had this problem since one week ago. My motherboard only beeps and it does not give any video signal.
It give me 3 long beeps, the 4 lights of the cpu phase are turn on and the cpu's fan and other fans work.
In other posts mention that it is a memory problem but I can't solve it. I tested my memories in another computer and they work. I follow this post without succeed: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=161935.0, please help me.

First of all please keep such remarks to yourself. Searching for help among MSI users this is certainly not a good idea if wanting to make friends.

This awful ram combo is almost like looking for trouble. Three different low quality value sticks mixed is a guarantee for issues. Did you try with just one stick at a time in your current issue.
Furthermore did you try updating bios or were you using Live Update before the system stopped to work?
Like in the other thread suggested did you >>Clear CMOS<<?
