970A-G46 Steam game crash
Hey everyone,
So I just put together a system with an AMD FX 8320 Black Edition, MSI 970A-G46 mobo, MSI Radeon 7870 2GB DDR5/OC, 16GB corsair vengeance DDR3 (running at 1600MHz), Win8 64-bit, Ultra 750W modular PSU, and I seem to be having problems with a steam game crashing on startup. I know there have historically been problems with Steam applications and AMD FX cpus but I had heard they were long since fixed through BIOS updates. I have updated to the latest BIOS (2.3) listed on the MSI website, but I am still having the same issue. Other games (skyrim, doom3 etc.) open just fine through steam, it is only CS:GO that I have a problem with. When I try to run the game I get this:

Any assisstance would be greatly appreciated.
check it with MSI at >>How to contact MSI.<<
and there is special BIOS for the steam issue [in some other AMD mobos there was such]

[SOLVED] Steam games crash at start
I have problem with running games with wine for a while now and I can't figure out what's the problem. I have all my games on steam except 1 which is the world of tanks. When I start a game it crashes almost instantly. I tried the following games so far: team fortress 2, counter-strike source, super meat boy, cogs, audiosurf, payday the heist and maybe some more I don't remember now. And the interesting part is that I have left 4 dead 2 and it's works perfectly also world of tanks works too. I didn't tested all my games, so I don't know if there's any other which works.

Hi,
Try to see how to tweak your Wine apps on AppDB.
Yeah, thanks, but I already know that. The problem is everything was ok until this came up. -
Yosemite always crash the Steam games
I got an iMac late 2012. 2.9 GHz Intel Core i5.
I updated to Yosemite a month ago. When i trying to use the Steam to play dota 2, the game is always crash. Back there, when I was using Mavericks i havent had any problems like this.
I dont know why, therefore i reboot my iMac to factory reset. After that, I still got the same problem. When I open Dota 2 in the Steam, I got crashed. When i try to open it again, its showed that I need to install Dota 2 again.
Right now, I cant play any game on Steam.
Is there any problems with my Mac? Or just the Steam app crashing with Yosemite?
Please help.
Thank youContact the developer of the game. Their game is probably not compatible with Yosemite and needs an update.

Windows 8 64-bit install on 970a-g46 Mainboard AHCI and NVIDIA DRIVER issues
My Box:
MSI 970A-G46
BIOS 1.9 (AUG 2012) (Tried 1.11 but the nightmare started then)
AMD FX-6100 (STOCK SPEED AND SETTINGS) WITH OEM HSF
16GB PATRIOT VIPER 3 (1866) RUNNING @ (1600)
USED an EVGA 9800GT 1ST AND UPGRADED TO NVIDIA REFERENCE CARD GTX 550 Ti (1GB) WITH SAME ISSUES
90gb MonsterDigital Daytona SATA III SSD DRIVE (OS and minimal programs)
Antec HE 550
I am at a point of pulling my hair out. I decided to upgrade my system to enhance Diablo III game play. I got a combo deal on the mainboard and cpu, and thought the speed of the game caching on a SSD would also help. The first attempt which took a little struggle was Vista 64-bit. Eventually, I was able to get the OS to work with me, and it was smooth. Since M$ decided to offer the Windows 8 Pro upgrade for only $39.99, I thought, what do I had to lose. Well….lots of time. Now, I am not a newbie, though SSD drives haven’t been more than an interesting thought. So yes, I read many guides on everything from Trim enabled Win 7 and 8, and many other do’s and don’ts. What is driving me to the Netherlands of hell, is the installation and how buggy it has been. It boils down to drivers for the IDE/SATA/AHCI CONTROLLER. First, even thought it “sees” the SSD on installation drive selection, after pulling the USB installation drive, the system forgets it, and there is a “problem with the boot sector”. If you load the driver from the AMD site, it lets the install occur “fine”, but there is an issue with that driver which causes an irq conflict which leads to D3 audio issues and freeze ups. I did finally get things in order (not sure which driver I choose for that), and things were smooth, except I tried to install the GTX 550 ti and that led to a corrupt file error, which the system runs a check disk and cycles the “preparing to repair” and “diagnosing PC” a few times and never allows me to enter SAFE MODE (shift+f8), to disable the NVIDIA driver that is buggy, and doesn’t allow for the NVIDIA Control Panel to install without losing video, and starts the repair cycles again… Leading to ANOTHER RE-INSTALL...
My question, for the Windows 8 Pro installation on the 970a-G46 mainboard and then after install is complete, which driver is the correct choice for the AHCI/SATA Controller? All I find is Win7 64-bit AHCI inf’s, and SB7XX 64-bit inf’s (no SB950 INF). The Driver disk which came with the mainboard is very dated pre Win 8 stuff, ASMEDIA X106 which are not recognized by the OS as written for Win 8. AMD’s latest drivers are the ones causing the IRQ type lags and corruption.
What version, build and type of Windows 8 installations have you used on this mainboard, and what drivers allowed you install it without the above conflicts? Your input may decrease my insanity… So, thank you in advance…Quote from: m0r9h3u5 on 28-January-13, 12:11:16
I understand what you are telling me, only the generic drivers deliver subpar results. What is the point of running those drivers instead of windows 8 certified drivers written for said devices. My last install is functioning better, but still windows update fails every attempt, the apps i install (ie. weather bug) on the start screen wont load... to me windows 8 is a big fail....but that is just my view...
OK...I also own the 970a G46, and my upgrade experience from Win7 x64 AHCI to Win8 x64 AHCI was flawless the first time. No problems at all. You are running an AMD chipset board with a nVidia gpu, which means that your chipset drivers are not automatically updated with every gpu driver update you do--this would happen automatically if you owned an AMD gpu because AMD includes them in its gpu driver install packages. But--all you have to do to get the proper drivers for your motherboard is go here and download them. You only need the *chipset drivers* from this page--you do not need the RAID drivers, of course. That's it. It's no big deal, and back in the days when nVidia was making motherboard chipsets you had to separately download both the motherboard chipset drivers from nVidia and the AMD gpu drivers from AMD if you did not also own a nVidia gpu.
From your description of your problems it sounds like your installation of Win8 is hosed and you need to format C:\ and clean install from scratch, anyway, so...
A note about AHCI--the *ideal* way to install the AHCI drivers is prior to installing your OS for the first time, you enter the UEFI and set "AHCI" in the appropriate place, instead of IDE, and *then* you reboot from DVD and install your OS which will automatically install the correct AHCI driver from Windows. After the driver installation is complete you should then install the updated 970a drivers from AMD as linked above.
However, it is actually very easy to activate and install AHCI *after* you have installed Windows in normal IDE mode:
To enable AHCI in existing Windows 8 IDE Installation's
Caution: Do NOT enable AHCI in UEFI prior to making the following changes in your Registry! If you had AHCI enabled alreadyin UEFI, disable it first and restart your computer!
Use WinKey + R and type Regedit in the command line and hit the Enter key, this will open the Registration Editor.
Go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/services/iaStorV
right click on Start, select Modify and set Data Value to 0
Close Registration Editor and restart computer.
While booting, open the UEFI Page and set the SATA Mode to AHCI from IDE
Save UEFI settings and restart.
Windows will now install the AHCI drivers automatically and they should work without issues.
In order to avoid installation problems just like you have been experiencing, here is what I would do in your shoes:
1) Set UEFI for normal IDE drive mode
2) Reboot into IDE mode and install your OS
3) After you have finished with the installation, you should be having no troubles in IDE mode. Then go to the instructions above on how to properly enable AHCI *after* you have installed Windows 8 in normal IDE mode.
4) After everything is coming up roses in AHCI mode and you are having no problems, then install the AMD chipset drivers as linked above and you are golden.
Those 4 steps worked perfectly for me the first time (the first time I got them right, that is...).
There's nothing wrong with Win8--this is strictly operator error caused by insufficient research into what AHCI is and how to properly enable it. The Internet has some bad info on Win8 registry settings for AHCI because of the developer preview and the consumer preview versions of Win8 that Microsoft released to the public prior to the final shipping build--many "instructions" for Win8 are therefore not valid for the shipping version of Win8. At first I made some of the same goofs that you did, but now you get to benefit from my hard-won experience... Good luck! Should work like a charm. And, registry AHCI is done differently in Win8 than it is done in Win7 or Vista. Also, the registry settings relative to AHCI in Windows 8 for AMD are different from the registry values that must be changed for an Intel controller.
Parenthetically, My FX-6300 (Vishera) will be here in a couple of days! Yeah! -
Game Crash EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGBUS)
On my Early 2013 MacBook Pro (retina, 15-inch, 2,4GHz Intel Core i7, 8GB 1600MHz DDR3, NVIDIA GeForce GT650M 1024MB), I can't play Dota 2, I've always played without problems, and everybody says this game crashes with OS X, but rarely I've experienced it. Since this morning I couldn't play, it's always crashing, I've read a thousand topics about Dota 2+Mac OS X crashes, but with no success. I've already re-installed, but no success either. Anyone knows how to fix this?

Since this morning I couldn't play, it's always crashing, I've read a thousand topics about Dota 2+Mac OS X crashes, but with no success. I've already re-installed, but no success either. Anyone knows how to fix this?

I had 970A-G46 with FX-8320 with radeon HD 7870 working fine for several months.
One day while I was playing a game everything went dark and there was burned
electronics smell. After that computer wasn't responding on power up. I tested PSU (CX500M)
in another system and it was working fine. I RMA-ed the motherboard and just received
a replacement.
I put the system back toghether on a table with a small video card (I think it's radeon 5450).
Now when I power it up all 4 blue led lights on top of motherboard come up and cpu
fan is spinning. But I get no beeps (I have a small speaker plugged in into motherboard JFP2) and no video.
Things I tried:
disconnect everything other than ram cpu and videocard
re-seating everyting
trying different video card
moving ram into different slots (I tried 2+4, 1+3, 1+2, and now I have one stick in slot 1).
Clear CMOS (shorting jbat1 pins 2-3 while system was off).
removing battery for 15 min.
using a different PSU (antec TP-750C)
double checked that I have both 24pin and 8pin power connected
moving video card to a different pci-e slot.
Regardless of what I tried I have no beeps during boot and no video.
But system looks live - four blue leds on motherboard light up and cpu fan is spinning.
Does anybody have an advice ?
Can this have something to do with mismatch between FX 8320 and version of bios ?
Am I supposed to hear beeps during normal boot ? I read in one of the posts in this forum
that msi motherboards dont beep during boot anymore. Is this correct ?

Unfortunately I don't have another am3+ cpu/board to test.
I am trying to figure out what to do next.
I would buy another cpu if I knew for sure that the cpu is bad.
you can't be sure of this until is tested somewhere.
you need to swap parts to see what is working and what not.
you need a second PC or other parts that you can use in your PC

From reading forums it looks like cpu failure is something very rare.
when electric accident was involded, everything is suspected and can be burn less than second.
so for this case wouln't be a surprice if the CPU is burned.

I want to make sure that this isn't something like old bios version not supporting FX-8320.
you can't be sure of this since you don't know current mainboard BIOS version,
and don't have another CPU to try which is supported since initial BIOS version
to verify what is the board BIOS version and is it BIOS issue, or bad CPU problem -
970a-g46 no video output issues!!!
Hello. I recently had some issues with my CPU. It would overheat when I would play games and finally I was tired of having to keep a fan propped up next to my tower to keep it cool. I decided I wanted to reapply the thermal paste. I bought some arctic 5 silver and applied it incorrectly ( it's my first time dealing with this stuff). As I was screwing the heat sink onto the processor, I applied way too much pressure to screw it in and I bent the processor. Bummed, I went to frys and picked up the AMD fx-4100. I swapped the broke. CPU for the new one and then my computer wouldn't output any video. I mean anything. So I decided after asking a few knowledgeable friends, I might need to buy a new gpu or motherboard. So I decided to buy both. I bought the MSI 970a-g46 and a dinky cheap gpu to return in the event I didn't need it. Nothing worked still! I thought at this point maybe I need a new psu. So I went back to frys and bought a new corsair CX750 watt power supply and a corsair water cooler just to be safe. Still I GET NO VIDEO OUTPUT!! I've tried I. Multiple monitors, multiple cords, multiple outlets, and I've had friends with experience in computers help me get the parts and assemble/ plug In everything in the right spot. I've booted it with and without my ram, hard drive, and cd drive, and still nothing. The next thing to do is call a priest to exorcise my case. Does anyone have any experience with this issue? I've tested the gpu and memory on my friends computer and it works fine for him. Once again, I have a new Motherboard, CPU, PSU, GPU, water cooler. I've thrown money at the problem and it still doesn't work. Is something not compatible or am I cursed to never play computer games again?
First of all please finally list all pc components like I asked for two times already. To post means it will show the first bootup message with results of the power on self-test (cpu-model and clockrate and so on). As somebody build the pc for you - if I understood you correctly - he should have tried to power it on and see if it starts at least. The question was if that has been done or not. If others just assembled parts and you did the rest it is pretty hard to tell what went wrong as you are also obviously lacking some needed knowledge.
If you are confortable with it take the pc apart and put the board with cpu and cooler mounted on a non-conductive surface. Add just basic components like a graphics card, one mem-stick, psu and connect to a display. Try it outside case then. If you are not comfortable with that better contact someone with more experience to review the machine as you set it up. -
970A-G46 rebooting without bluescreen (BIOS initiated?)
I have recently built a PC for a friend and the PC has had problems rebooting after several months of use. Its just a black screen reboot, no OS error message. When I went to troubleshoot it, the CPU was topping at 78C with the stock cpu cooler. The reboots happen when he's deep into a video game. HE plays pretty much everything and anything as he writes game reviews.
So I replaced it with a water cooler from Corsair H60, I think, after the hour drive to fry's and back I noticed it was a refurb cooler! I installed it anyway as that trip was brutal and figured it should be fine. I placed the radiator so that the heat blows into the case (bad idea for this board?)
The initial tests of the system showed the CPU not exceeding 30-40C with Prime95 running for an hour or more. I thought great problem solved. BUT, he reports it is rebooting again, but not as often as before.
I've read a lot about the VRMs overheating and a fan should be blowing across them. Could this be what's happening? I've never had a computer reboot like this as a function of heat, so this is new territory. (I build all my own PCs)
I need to make the trip again and I'm thinking ad a couple of case fans and point the exhaust of the cpu cooler out of the case and make sure there is airflowing across the VRMs / heat sinks on the board. Good idea? (he lives out of town)
Also, is there any sort of BIOS logging that I can check to see what caused the reboot?
Thanks,
~Matt

That Rosewill is low quality. I would not have bought any water cooler - ideally you want proper temps with an air cooler and something is wrong with the build (or hardware). If it were me I would do a mini rebuild, and re-grease/reseat the CPU making sure it's really seated properly -- evenly no gaps in the heatsink no skewing, latch it and go from there. If you determine that it's the board, swapping out various video cards and an extra power supply then RMA it. Do check the voltages in hwmonitor and also your bois (+12v especially) while the machine is idling and also under heavy load. Test the memory with memtest86. Don't try to patch it with a water cooler just because you were alerted to high temps take the proper steps build and test his system correctly as the FX6200 is more than capable around 30c idle 55c max load even with the stock cooler- that should tell you something right there.

I'm trying to put a (new to me) system together using some parts that my son has upgraded from. The used parts are the processor and cooling fan, the memory, and the PSU. I also have his old graphics card, but a new one as well Here is the list:
Mobo: 970A-G46
Processor: Athlon II x4635
Graphic card: Saphirre HD5450 (also have son's ASUS EN9500GT)
Memory: 2 x 4 GB Corsair CMV4GX3M1A1333C9
PSU: Orion HP585D (3.3 V: 36 A, 5V: 36A, +12V1: 19 A, +12V2: 20 A, -12V: 1A +5sb:2A)
Drives: 120gb Kensington SSDI expect you are right about the PSU quality, but up until Friday evening it has been in service running a 6-core AMD and the same video card, along with an 8-disk HD array (son is doing PHD in computational physics, and works his stuff pretty hard). Voltages when checked w multi-meter are fine. I find it hard to believe that it is suddenly inadequate to my far less demanding application.
When we assembled it last night, the only anomaly I noticed was that the PSU connector for JPWR2 was only four pins. We used pins 1, 2, 5, and 6, and all four blue LEDs were illuminated indicating that all cores were getting power.
This afternoon I have removed the mobo and all connections and cleared the CMOS, trying to follow the cannot-boot-up-properly MSI page. Also, based on another post on this forum, I tried each individual RAM stick in slots one and two. I have re-seated the CPU and video card. So far, I have not seen or heard anything that would indicate that this mobo is working.
Any further ideas, or is replacing PSU the only game in town?
(Sorry about lack of story in first post – somehow it was posted WAY before I was done with my saga) -
MSI 970a-g46 motherboard starts up but doesn't display anything.
Hello, I'm having problems with a new motherboard I got from Amazon, specifically the 970a-g46. The following are my specs in use with this motherboard:
CPU: AMD Phenom 2 x4 965
GPU: nVidia GeForce 560 GTX
Ram: 8gb Kingston HyperX Fury 1866mhz.
PSU: Corsair 650TX (650 Watts)
Compatability-wise, everything checks out so I wasn't expecting problems at first. All the other parts excluding the ram I've used before. Here's exactly what happens:
I power up the computer after everything is installed and connected. The 4 phase LEDs turn on which tell me the CPU is powered up and working (so I assume). I don't get any beeps or buzzs mainly because I don't see any speaker/buzzer on this board. The monitor blinks and while it is connected to my GPU, it doesn't display anything, it's just a black screen. I can leave it on for a few minutes and I'll still not see anything happen. An important observation here is that my keyboard which has LEDs will turn on after a short period of time in boot-up (with my older set-up that is). This does not happen ever regardless of how long I leave my computer on on this new mobo.
I've gone over and checked/tested numerous things:
* The PCI-E and ATX cables for the GPU, motherboard and CPU are all connected and secured (I've tried both 4-pin and 8-pin connections for the CPU, neither help).
* I've tried jumping the CMOS multiple times to no avail.
* I tested the ram on another computer and it worked just fine on that one.
* I've tested the motherboard without a GPU and it still does nothing (though I think that's because this motherboard doesnt have its own integrated GPU for some reason).
So far the only possible reasons why my computer is not working is because of my PSU (very unlikely as it's only a year old and it's a Corsair, which I've heard is very reliable in the long-run), GPU (It is quite a few years old but even without the GPU my computer still doesn't go past boot-up), CPU (possible due to its age and how many freaking time I've reseated it (probably around 8 times) so I wouldn't doubt it, but before I put it into this motherboard I did check its pins and they were all there and placed nice and smoothly into the socket.) and finally the motherboard (it's possible that this is just a defected motherboard and giving me a super hard time which would be a first in all the years I"ve spent computer building).
The best case scenario of course is me giving some kind of oversight to how I transferred over the parts and connectors. I might've missed something obvious to please any advice/insight on how I can solve this problem would be greatly appreciated
EDIT: Some other things I did but forgot to mention:
* Checked ground nut things and ensured they matched the specifications of the motherboard ATX; only 6 are under the board and each one is aligned up with the holes on the board as designed.
* Tried booting up without powering the CPU. Only one phase LED light came on, still the same problem (for an obvious reason this time now).
* Re-seated GPU multiple times, re-connected cables multiple times.
What I have NOT done is re-seat the CPU because I am almost out of acetone so I would need to get another supply of that which won't be until tomorrow. I also have not re-seated everything back on my older motherboard to check if it still works. Tomorrow I'll most likely do that and if I find that the old motherboard works flawlessly then that tells me that the new motherboard I got is either defected or there's some compatability issue I"m missed out on.
EDIT 2: Just found a speaker and plugged it into the motherboard. Booted it up and I got no beeps whatsoever. So this mobo is giving me no video activity (there is a signal it's just blank), and no beeps from the motherboard. I have no idea what that could mean at this point.
EDIT 3: I decided to test a few things with the new speaker I just got. First I removed ram and tried running, I got 3 beeps which I assume is the beep sequence of faulty/no ram. Removed the power to CPU and the GPU itself individually, gave no beeps this time.Quote from: rhradacut on 06-January-15, 16:49:14
What's the serial number of your MB? Needed to determine what BIOS may be on the MB. Exactly which version of the CPU is it? There were several different 965 CPUs and they required different BIOS versions, 1.2, 1.9,2.2 depending on which CPU you actually have.
Also another problem may be that native memory supported by your CPU is DDR3-1333, not 1866
None of the supported CPUs have integrated graphics, any MB graphics would be in the chipset, not CPU. Examples would be 785G, 880G
Thank you very much rhradacut! The problem was that the mobo for whatever reason was forcing 1866mhz on my CPU when it only supported up to 1600mhz. I had to install a spare ddr3 module to downclock it so that I could access the BIOS and manually set the DRAM timing to 1600mhz for it to work. That's a very strange problem that I figured would've been auto-resolved by the hardware, and would also be a big problem if I didn't have any spare DDR3 ram to work with.
Once again thanks for helping out on solving my problem. -
I just built my first PC and it won't boot up. The I can hear the PSU running but the a light called LED 1 flashes and then nothing else happens. Ive checked and rechecked the cables and haven't found anything messed up. The RAM and CPU are installed correctly. Could the Hard drive possibly be the problem? Please help i really want my pc to work.
Specs:
Mother Board: MSI 970A-G46
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955 3.2ghx Quad-Core.
GPU: MSI HD R5450
Hard Drive 1tb Sata.
PSU: 600 watt Thermaltake.
RAM: 2 sticks of 4gb Corsair.I recently got same motherboard. When it is running normal you will have four small blue LED lights that stay lighted. I had issue where over clock would not disengage and or engage. And only one blue LED indicator light was on. And no matter what it would not restart; with reset, hard shutdown.
SOLUTION by Bumper: Simple CMOS manual reset on motherboard, restart and press F2 [At this point motherboard bios has been reset to default settings.]
If it turns out you still have a problem; search Amazon for simple cheap testers to test mainboard, PSU, etc. Chances are if you see lights the PSU is OK. -
970a-g46 am3+ cable connection questions
Hi all,
I'm a first time computer builder and am in the process of building my own rig. I have MSI AMD 970a-g46 am3+ mobo and cool master elite 431 case.
1) I can't seem to find where on the mobo to connect the speaker for the post beep test. I've tried to look through the manual and watch videos but all the videos skip ahead of the internal cable connections to them being done.
2)the cool master 431 case comes with HD and AC 970 audio, which do I use with the MSI AMD 970a-g46 mobo? I think its the HD from what I've seen/read in videos.
3)I would like to do the test boot with the mobo, the gpu, psu on the monitor and post beep before mounting to make sure I connected it all correctly at least once but I don't know where to connect the speaker (question1). Also I don't know where to "short" the mobo before connecting the psu and plugging it in to "turn on" the mobo for the test. I saw a video by newegg of building a computer where he did the same.
That's all the questions at the moment since I'm taking a break. Any help would be majorly appreciated. Thanks.ok attached the Front panel connectors diagram below! just find the missing pins and count to locate pins! (the name of the headers should be marked JFP1 and JFP2)

ok there is a picture below from the manual and it should be connected on JFP2 on pins 4 and 6!

connect the HD audio one not the AC97 from your case to the audio header!

and as for shorting the board to power it up to test it works thats on JFP1 on pins 6+8 just short those 2 and it should start up!
if you do start it outside your case use a piece of plain cardboard under the mother board to isolate it from shorting out on anything! -
Help: How do i set up Raid 0 on a 970a-g46 board
Hello everyone
I have been Building my own computers since 1997. (Remember Windows 3.11 and Dos 6.22 LOL)
but i have never tried to use Raid. i just got 2 SanDisk 128GB SSD drives,
i have read other things on this forum "970A-G46 raid issues"
But everything i have tried has not worked.
when i try to start the computer and hit Ctrl-F. it shows the hard drives. but i can't do anything.
I just don't understand what i am doing. I really would like someone to tell me step by step how to setup a raid 0.
I have a 970A-G46,
AMD FX 8350 eight core processor
MSI R9 280 gaming 3g

Glad you were able to do it...I remember my first RAID 0 experiences...It's really funny when I recall the paranoia from folks who'd never done it themselves...like, for instance, the old wives' tail that states that with RAID 0 your odds of drive failure are multiplied 100% by the number of drives you have in the array... "If you lose one drive, you lose it all," etc., which seems to make sense until you consider the fact that if you have just one drive running in SCSI/IDE mode--and it fails--you also "lose it all"... Then there's the "But RAID 0 isn't fault tolerant" myth, which is true but still a myth because normal SCSI/IDE is also not fault tolerant...! The fact is that if you have 2 standard IDE/SCSI drives running compared with 2 drives running in RAID 0, there's no difference at all in the odds of a single drive failing at any time... The drives don't care whether you run them in RAID 0 or IDE, of course, etc. Drives always fail individually--almost never in pairs, of course--and so the odds of a RAID 0 drive failing are exactly the same as they'd be if you weren't running RAID 0 at all.
Anyway, I've included RAID 0 in every build I've done personally since 2004, and the interesting fact is (although mere coincidence) that on those rare occasions when a drive has failed it has not been one of my RAID 0 drives...!... Enjoy! -
GE620DX - new Nvidia driver breaks steam games
Hi,
Yesterday I upgraded the graphics driver on my GE620DX to the one just released (285.98) downloaded from here:
http://www.msi.com/service/download/nbdriver-17287.html
After doing this all my Steam games that are configured to use the NV graphics card would fail to start with an 'error code 51' message appearing. Switching them back to integrated graphics allowed them to run. This didn't seem to happen with non Steam games as I was able to run WoW, which is set to run on the nvidia card.
I put the previous driver back (269.13) and this problem stopped happening so I'm pretty sure there's something wrong with the new drivers or the way Steam interacts with them.
MartinSettings prog is bugged? How? It's to early to check everything but I could sucessfully run nvidia-settings and for example add a shadow to mouse cursor :-) I don't use it to restore the settings and I don't think it's very useful at all except maybe for gamers so it's not a big deal.
As I said I'm not using twinview too - I'm running tv-out but as a second screen (standard xfree way to do this). The lower resolution is not a problem then. But people who are using twinview for their own reasons (like external monitors connected to notebooks, cloning crt on the tv, etc. etc.) should consider staying with the older drivers for some time. Maybe it's a bug and nvidia will release a new driver with 1024x768 on the tv enabled again? - That's just a warning and I suggest to backup your older nvidia arch package if someone is using it. -
Ever since I updated my iPad mini to iOS 7 the game crashes every time I open it! Although it goes alright on my 4s. Recently I purchased need for speed most wanted adze by fire monkeys and guess what that crashes at the start too? The iPad is no where near capacity I don't understand has any1 else had this prob and if so how did they fix it?
Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased.
Cheers, Tom
