975XPUE Dual Core Center 5V voltage readout

Hello, I realize everyone unanimously agrees that Dual Core Center should be avoided.  However I have a question about the voltage readouts it provides.
On my machine, DCC 5V readout has always reported 2.6x V, quite a drop from 5V.  3.3V reads out 3.31 V and 12V reads 12.20 V.  System is running stable despite the weird 5V level.  Everything runs just fine.  Don't know if this is a false reading, or a true but acceptable reading, or just DCC bug.
Can someone please clarify what the MB 5V reading is referring to.  I always assumed this was from the 5V pin on the JPWR molex connector for PCI-E slots.  My video card is Sapphire X1950PRO 512 with power from 6pin PCI-E power.  I just assumed the molex power wasn't necessary but I have it connected anyway, and so this caused the 5V reading to be low.
Also, I have all 8 pins for the JPW ATX 12V connector attached.  PSU has 4+4 connector but I figured just plug everything in if it's available.
MSI 975X PUE (Limited Edition)
E6600 @ 3.07GHz default voltage  (343 FSB)
OCZ Platinum Rev 2 2GB @2V 5-5-5-15
Sapphire X1950PRO 512MB
Thermaltake 750W (Modular) w/ 4 12V rails @18A
Thanks!

Thanks all for replies.  Svenomous, I'd like to try your tip but dont have a multimeter
I'm not worried that the 5V rail on my PSU is bad.  Like Maesus mentioned, that should cause all sorts of issues if my 5V was really pushing 2.6V.
Was just curious what part of the MB dualcore center takes the 5V readout from.  If it's from the 5V pins on the 24 pin ATX, then the computer shouldn't even boot.  I guessed it was from the PCI-E molex connector and that the MB wasn't drawing the full 5V for whatever reason.  All other devices (fans, drives, etc)  on molex power seem to run fine.
Was just hoping someone had a definite answer.  If I snag a volt tester, I'll follow up with true 5V rail levels.  Thanks

  • MSI P6N SLI Platinum, Dual Core Center and Mem Voltage

I set my memory voltage for my Corsair sticks to 2.0 just as TheRamGuy at Corsair's House of Help forum had suggested. However, in Dual Core Center, it reports that the Memory voltage is at 2.7!!!!.
I seem to vaguely remember some threads somewhere in one of the forums about the MSI boards frying higher voltage memory, and so am concerned to say the least.
Or is there a better program that can display the Memory voltage??   Or do I believe the Dual Core Center readings?

CPUID would let you know if your RAMs are running at the correct timings.
You can try SisoftSandra or Everest to check on the detected voltage in Windows.
OK, I've downloaded both SiSoftSandra and Everest. I don't see anywhere where these programs report/measure a memory voltage. One one screen, it will report on the SPD settings for the memory and lists the rated RAM voltage "setting", but not the actual juice going to it.
Oh, well. Must just mark it off as one less thing to worry about

  • New Dual Core Center "it rocks"

There is a new dual core center on MSI's 975x Power up page http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/download/dld/spt_dld_detail.php?UID=746&kind=1
I have tested it quite a bit today .. it rocks...
    Everything works ...
It even recognizes my non-MSI Nvidia video card...
Just take the time to set up your separate profiles and save them, otherwise you will keep booting into MSI's default..
So set up your own profiles...
This is the first time that this application has ever worked properly for me ..
    and it is great ..
    Download it and enjoy...

  • Dual core center vs. nTune vs. something else

I have a P6N 650i SLI board and it seems to me from reading various posts that Dual Core Center and nTune do much of the same thing.  True?  So, it seems kind of pointless to install both.  However, I'm not sure which is the better choice or even if either one is very good.  Any thoughts?  Should I use either one or do you have any suggestions for other programs I should use instead?  Thanks.

Whats wrong with installing both and trying them out? Currently the the P6N does not fully support ntune so your options are pretty limited to changing ram timings, and fsb.(though I prefer Bios) The voltage, fan speed, all the good stuff is greyed out. The Dualcorecenter is unstable and hard locks my computer sometimes for no real reason. It has a couple of settings you could play around with.. but I don't know why anyone would as all of the settings could be modified under the bios. Next time you should just try both out because besides being able to o/c the gfx card, bios trumps both of those wares.

  • Dual Core Center working in Vista but not XP on a dual boot system?

    Hi All.
    My system specs are:
Dual Boot Windows XP Pro SP2 and Windows Vista Ultimate
Temps for CPU in Vista averaging at 43 - 45 degrees in XP averaging at 38 to 42 degrees.  It never seems to go much higher than 53 on Load.

    Hiper 580watt Modular PSU
    4GB OCZ Gold 6400

    2 X 300gb diamond maxtor 10 HDD
    MSI Geforce 7800gt
    DVD Rom
    LG Dual Layer DVDRW+/-
I am running a dual boot system with Windows XP Pro SP2 on one partition and Windows Vista Ultimate on the other.  Both operating systems seem to be operating properly except for an odd situation with Dual Core Center.  In Windows XP Dual Core Center only indicates the Mainboard properties - No VGA, whereas on Windows Vista Ultimate Dual Core Center indicates both VGA & Motherboard properties.  I have installed MSI Nvidia drivers for the Graphics card & also tried straight Nvidia drivers for the card but it has made no difference VGA will not show up in XP.  Yet on installing Dual Core Center on the Vista partition VGA showed up immediately.  Can anyone help.
If anyone can come up with an answer to this it would be a real help.
    Many Thanks in advance.

have you try to update/install the dual core driver from amd?

hi, i have a problem with my motherboard msi, Bios 1.2  and the dual core center 2.0.0.8 ,since days ago, the msi dual core center 2.0.0.8 so many times shows fan speeds alerts false alarms from the cpe temp, for that reason, i upgraded the appl to 2.0.1.6 ( the last),i set the oc level to 25% like with the older version, but time later the pc crash and put a black crash screen  and it dont let me to overclock my cpu    , i get back to 2.0.0.8 but the fan alarm dont stop, and i dont know if the newer version fix this problem

  • NX7600GT Diamond Plus and fan speed with Dual Core Center

I just got a NX 7600GT Diamond Plus for my HTPC. I noted that Riva Tuner and other utilities are not able to control the fan speed of the video card. The only way one can control the fan speed is via Dual Core Center and 3D Core Cell. The problem is that the default setting for fan speed on Dual Core Center is too high and clearly audible. How can I get Dual Core Center to start with user defined presets during windows start-up/boot-up ?
What I want to do is to put the fan into 'SILENT' mode automatically during Dual Core Center start-up. Any ideas / suggestions ?

Quote from: BOSSKILLER on 17-January-07, 00:44:11
well no need to edit manually, MSI provided everythink in easy way from core center.
select advanced mode, create your custom profile pickup your desired settings,(setup maximum FAN RPM via buttons) and save it to custom profile.
suggest you to read help section from program.
So the custom profile is automatically loaded every time DualCoreCenter starts up ? Maybe there is something wrong with my install of DCC, I cannot get it to load custom profiles automatically upon startup. I can save the changes to say "User Profile 1" but the profile active on startup always is the "default" profile ...

  • Is there any way to monitor CPU temp without Dual Core Center

I hate Dual Core Center it has done nothing but lock my system up is there any alteranative to monitor CPU temp/Fan speed

I use speedfan... but for Core 2 Duo, I don't think I have to worry about the CPU temp anymore... they are really coooooooooooooll
Does anybody have an idea what the optimal temperature range for core duo cpu:s are? I used to have an Athlon XP, which was typically 65 °, now the my E6600 is running at 35-40 ° [celsius]. But where's the critical temperature where it burns?

  • DKA790GX Platinum, have problem with changing FSB in Dual Core Center

    Hello guys, freshblood is here,
I change fsb in Dual core center, but unfort.  core temp and CPUZ don't reflect any changes.

I agree.  The BIOS gives you better control with better options.

Dumb MSI Dual Core Center.  It is not the best tool ever developed.  Use the BIOS for overclocking your system.

  • Dual Core Center doesn't work at all.

My mobo is P35Neo2-FR. Cpu is C2D E4600. I didn't overclocked it. WinXP professional 32BIT is installed.
    .Net 2.0 is also installed.
From some time, I cannot launch Dual Core Center program. When I double-click the Dual Core Center icon,
There is nothing to be launched. I could not understand why the program suddenly didn't work.
Please let me know the solution to successfully launch Dure Core Center program.

yeah! my only experience with DCC is,... after it runs, it straight away turn on the siren, annoy the whole PC, and after 10 seconds, it shuts down my PC! That's the big annoyance already. The next time I reboot, I quickly terminate it from runnign longer, and straight away remove it from my PC. don't even bother to figure out where the alarm settings is.

  • P6N SLI V2 problem with "dual core center"

I have the P6N SLI  V2 with E4400 and 7600gt running XP pro sp 2.
after installing and running MSI's "dual core center" (including .Net framework) I only have the "VGA" option enabled, the "MB" option is disabled as well as the D.O.T option. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling as well as downloading the latest version, but I have the same problem. I get no MB options at all (like no cpu temp, fan speed, core speed etc.). I didn't make any changes to the BIOS yet (other than changing the boot sequence), and ideas?

Don't use MSI's utilities. Anyone here will tell you that.

  • MSI Dual Core Center

Dual Core Center is a great tool but one thing that is annoying me is the FAN speed detector. I didn't plug fan into one of the header so Dual Core Center's alarm will be on all the time. Is there anyway to disable the alarm?

  • Help...MSI 975x Platinum PUE + Dual Core Center + MSI 7900 GTX

I have an MSI 7900GTX on my MSI975x MB.  I've read the dual core center manual and it states that Dual Core Center can also monitor VGA temps and whatnot as long as it's an MSI Graphics card.  Currently I am unable to monitor VGA stats on Dual Core Center due to the fact that it is greyed out.  Can anyone tell me how to activate this feature?

To know you GPU temps, you can access it via Display Properties for nVidia cards and for ATi cards, you can view via the ATI Control Panel.

  • Dual Core Center- MSI 8800 GTS and MSI P6N SLI Platinum.

I have both the MSI 650i MOBO and the MSI 8800 GTS vidcard. When using an Asus P5B Dlx MOBO and this vidcard, Dual Core Center was installed and displayed the information for the videocard and allowed a mild OC. Now with both MSI products in the case, Dual Core Center only displays the information on the MOBO-- no 8800 GTS information. The tab at the top for the VGA does not bring up anything.  ??? I have tried installing the version on each one of the disks that came with each piece of equipment again and it doesn't seem to make a difference, it doesn't work. I downloaded the most recent version of the utility from the MSI site and still get only the MOBO information. How do I get the display for the video card?
Or since the MSI utilities typically are listed on the forums as not being the greatest, what else can I/should I be using instead?
    {I put this in the MOBO forum too as it hits both areas...}

Found that AtiTool (latest beta) works on the 8800's. The "find max core" and "find max memory" don't work perfectly though, as they start the overclock and then are supposed to check for errors; they are supposed to stop the adjustment upward when they encounter erros and come back down......    AtiTool just kept cranking it up, although you could visibly see the little 3D screen artifact all over the place. But It gave a good starting place to do the OC manually and then go run the scan for artifacts and errors manually.  AtiTool listed the stock core at 513 and stock memory at 792. I was able to take the core up to ~644 and the memory up to ~877. I backed these off some (as you can't run both at max!) and it looked stable at 630 core, 860 memory.  Ran through both 3DMark 05 and 3DMark06 without a hitch. Need to check it out with some extended gameplay now.
