9800 problem

Im not sure if your the team i need to contact because i found your contact information very confusing if i need to discuss this problem with some other department i would appreciate if you could give me there details.I have a blackberry torch 9800 and this morning it started playing music on its own i have goggled this problem and i see it has been happening to other people as well my main issue with this is the 15 second song it plays on my blackberry is a song called little demon girl which is a little girl saying if you don't come and play with me I am going to kill you which it keeps repeating over and over and the only way to get it to stop is by resetting the phone.  Now when this started happening my children were using the phone and it really scared them they showed it to me and as IM sure you'll agree it is very spooky and extremely offensive it scared me also, I have mental health issues and this has caused me and my children great deal of distress I am very unhappy with this and I now consider the phone unusable even if this problem can be rectified I am too scared to put the battery back in in case it happens again.  I would like to know if there is anything you can do to rectify this problem.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
First to set your expectation -- this site is a user-to-user community of volunteers. It is not part of any formal support from, escalation to, nor communication with RIM. Hence, it is the right "department" -- if you wish help and advice from other users. But if you desire formal support, you seek that from your mobile service provider, you original place of purchase, or an authorized service center -- it varies by region, so I can't tell you which it is for you...but your original documentation should have included instructions as to how you seek formal support.
Here's what I suggest...boot the BB into Safe Mode:
KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode
It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, look carefully at everything that is installed:
KB10040 How to view or remove installed applications on a BlackBerry smartphone
Remove anything that is not truly necessary for use. I have no idea what item to tell you to look for...the possibilities are rather huge to make guessing of any value. But, again, if you see something as installed and you don't use it, then remove it.
It is highly likely that someone has put something onto your BB that is doing this. You would be wise to implement password protection on it so as to prevent that from happening again. But, to protect your data, you may also want to review this process:

  • ATI All-inWonder 9800 Problem

Has anyone reported any incompatibilities between the K7N2 Delta ILSR and the ATI Radeon 9800 All-in-Wonder?
Finished assembling my computer, and would not boot up.  Turned on power, fans started to spin, but then everything stopped.  Disconnected everything and started to troubleshoot.  Found that when I removed 12v power cable from the video card, the computer would at least start up, but then I get the ATI error message that I need to connect the power supply to the video card to continue.
Next step is to install video card in another computer to see what happens.
    K7N2 Delta ILSR
    ATHLON 2700+ Processor
    1Gb Crucial PC3200 RAM in 2 banks
    2 x Maxtor 80Gb SATA drives, RAID 1
    ATI All-in-Wonder 9800, 128Gb RAM
No idea what BIOS versions I have, haven't been able to boot up to find out.

My friend had an Asus Mobo (more power hungry then the MSI) with the same video card, and he was using a 350W antec. So, i bought a 350W antec. Well, that didn't solve my problem. I got another motherboard, The KT4V... and NO problems at all. When i took the K7N2 back, the guy said ATI won't run on Nvidia chipsets, so i believe it is a compatibility issue with the chipset and the ATI board. I've been trying to find a fix, because i like the K7N2 board better, it's faster and performs better, but i haven't had luck yet. If you need any assistance, or do find a sure fix, let me know. I'll take the KT4V back, and get the K7N2. But, it isn't the power supply , you do not need a 400W.
    Hi,
Whoever told you that ATI won't run on Nvidia chipsets doesn't know what he or she is talking about. I've installed many ATI Radeons in many Nforce 2 boards and they run just fine. They had a problem previously with the bios where you would have to reboot a couple of times to get the video to come up, but that was corrected in the latest bios release as previously mentioned by Raven. As far as running these boards on a 300W PSU, there are a few people doing it but their on the edge. It doesn't matter the watts, it's the max amps on the rails that matter. I use Antec power supplys in the machines I build and I will not place one under 430W. I have a 550W in my own. A lot of things come into play with a PSU, you can't just say a 350W is suitable because CPU, Memory, Drives, Video and all other components such as case fans etc. draw from your PSU. So it depends on how much is in your machine.

  • 865PE and Radeon 9800 Problems

    Hi,
I've searched the forum, but didn't found a solution. I have troubles with my sapphire radeon 9800 pro and the msi 865 neo 2 mainboard (bios 1.2) . If I try to set the AGP to 8x it will stay on 4x after reboot. This happens also with the enable fast write setting - it is also disabled after reboot. Of course, I've downloaded the latest drivers from sapphire  website - with no luck. Is there a solution? Should an update of the bios help?
    Regards
    Josef from Austria
BTW, I'm have a 3 GHZ P4 and 2*512 MB Kingston HyperX3500 (SPD - stronger settings result in boot failures) but sandras memory bandwith benchmark shows only values of about 4400 MB/sec - with the bios fast setting (a Reference System with 865PE should reach 4800) - any recommondations how to reach such a benchmark values without overclocking ?

    Hi Arthur,
thanks for your response. I've installed the additional powerconnector on the card. I use a 430 W enermax power supply. I think, it should provide enough power. But I didn't install the intel chipset drivers - maybe this would solve the problem. Another question to the benchmarks - I've updated the Bios to 1.3 and now I have values about 5000 in sandras memory bandwith (with fast enabled and no overclocking DRam settings are 2-3-2-5) but now my computer isn't able to wake up from standby - hi starts and after 3 sec hi stops working. The power off feature dosn't switch off the pc. If I change the timings to 2-3-3-6 everything will work fine (with lower benchmarks). So I search for a way that standby and poweroff works with the faster ram settings. Do you have maybe an idea?

  • Bb 9800 problem

An application update was required then device restart and since then it is not full loading to the end and after a long time it fully loaded and restarted but frozen, can not be connected to bb desktop either

Remove the battery while the power is on. If you are using a microSD memory card, remove it for now. Put the battery back after 30 seconds have elapsed. Test. If ok, put the memory card back and test.

  • Display slow to come on when waking from sleep.

There have been quite a few entries of similar problems lately with no real answers that I found.
I have a FW800 dp 1.42 machine running 10.4.11. When coming up from sleep the machine comes up but the display may say black for up to 5 min. This is with the original video card. When I switch to the 9800 Pro card a screen come up with an image of the card and the molex power connector blinking. The 9800 problem started about a year ago so I just installed the original video card and all worked good till recently.
Doing PMU rest does nothing and I also replaced the battery and that did nothing.
    1. How does one check to see if the power supply is working correctly without just replacing it?
    2. ATI says that the power supply is what is causing the 9800 blinking Molex connector image but the machine worked correctly with the original video card. Could it be that the power supply is just taking a long time to come up to a stabilized voltage?
I could not find a definitive corrective action on similar post.

    Hi-
When I switch to the 9800 Pro card a screen come up with an image of the card and the molex power connector blinking.
I trust that power is connected to the molex connector of the Radeon. Also, is the fan running properly? Have you tried pulling power from a different connector?
When coming up from sleep the machine comes up but the display may say black for up to 5 min.
Is this with a 9000 Pro? Geforce4 Ti? What display are you using? ADC? DVI? VGA?
Could it be that the power supply is just taking a long time to come up to a stabilized voltage?
    Doesn't sound impossible.
How does one check to see if the power supply is working correctly without just replacing it?
Here are two links to two pages from the MDD Service Manual that provide instructions on how to test the PSU.
    MDD PSU Test Page 1

You may want to save the images to your desktop for future reference.

  • Outlook Sync Problem with Torch 9800

I have always problems to Sync my 9800 to Outlook, I know this problem is caused because for some reason son calendar entries with Attendees field starting  ""< fails, and I get the message: Error encountered. Error Code 0x80040fb3. Check Documentation,  I normally  delete this Outlook entree and Sync and problem solved, however deleting the entree is not a acceptable solution, when there is several entries with the same problem.
Is there a way to fix this issue?
Some user suggest to delete all calendar entries and make a new Sync, this also works but takes a lot of time, and I wonder if this problem is already solved.
My desktop software is version 6.1.0.35

  • Hp 9800 printer will not print 13"x19". using vista home basic. tells me paper size is problem.

Deskjet HP 9800 printer, USB connection, Vista Home Basic 32 bit. I am trying to print 13"x19" colour and the printer receives info from computer, goes through a few gyrations and then feeds my sheet of paper out with no attempt to print. I have tried every possible combination of setup features and have tried to print at Max DPI and at Best DPI. Same results. Only error message ever received was one telling me of a conflict in paper size. That message was received twice during about 15 attempts to print. This my first try at 13"x19". I have no problem with 11"x17" colour or black and white.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Select "/var/log/cups/error_log" from the file list in the Console window. Then select the messages from the time of the last printing attempt. Copy them (command-C) to the Clipboard. Paste (command-V) into a reply to this message.

  • Problems after Leopard upgrade with ATI 9800 Pro 256MB

I don't know if this is related.. but I've been battling multiple problems ever since I upgraded my G5 to Leopard a week ago. Everything was perfect under Tiger.
The problem that only occurred directly after upgrading to Leopard... is that my graphics now get corrupted and garbled. I've got two video cards running two LCD monitors. The card giving me problems is the ATI Radeon 9800 Pro (256MB). What happens is.. first all the window shadows and top menu bar start getting checkerboard patterns.. then the whole screen starts getting variants of different colors and checkerboard patterns. After awhile and refreshing the screen a few times... the problem goes away for a bit. Then comes back.
Again, this card and my entire system and drives were working fine under Tiger. Now, I don't know if I have a bad card? Is there something wrong with Leopard on my G5 2Ghz DP? Did my Maxtor 750GB triple interface drive just go bad with the upgrade?
I don't know where else to look, I'm guessing the "geniuses" at the Apple store won't help me since this machine is out of warranty. Any help would be HUGELY appreciated. I've been battling all these problems ever since I started the Leopard upgrade 4 days ago and have not got much sleep.

I've already reset PRAM with the option, command,P,R keys... letting it chime a couple times... and have already done this many times over the last few days. Doesn't seem to help. I don't know how to reset NVRAM via open firmware and the instructions are vague. But, supposedly a PRAM reset is all you have to do.
If it is a heat problem, why would it only have presented itself directly after a Leopard upgrade? It also does it when I boot off the Leopard disk. Actually does it worse. I'd just get a new card if I wasn't suspicious about the Leopard upgrade... not convinced it's a hardware problem yet. Though the card is mounted on the bottom slot above the CPUs. It has a fan on top that appears to be working but it doesn't look like much clearance between the card and the top of the CPUs case.
I could move it up a slot to give it more air... but it still doesn't explain why until last Monday, it worked fine under Tiger.

  • Huge problems in SWICHING from 9800 to Z10

    Dear Blackberry,
I’m a Chinese customer. In the past 8 years, Blackberry smartphones have been one essential part of my life. 7290, 8700, 8800, 8520, 8900, 9800, all of them have been with me for long. I’ve been using 9800 for the last two and half years and now I’m switching to your latest Z10.
I have to say, Z10 is a masterpiece and I do hope it could save Blackberry. BUT, I also met several problems when I’m switching:
    ONE:
Blackberry Link could NOT transfer my contacts and SMSs in Chinese from my 9800 to Z10 correctly. All Chinese contacts are displayed in wrong code that I don’t think anyone on the earth could read it. I have nearly 2000 contacts and 1800 of them are in Chinese. HOW COULD I DEAL WITH THEM? I DON’T WANT TO INPUT THEM ONE BY ONE WITH MY FINGERS! Also, all SMSs are empty, with a wrong code title. DO YOU MEAN I'll LOST THEM ALL?
    TWO:
WHERE IS THE GREAT PASSWORDS KEEPER? I stored all my passwords, more than 200, into the passwords keeper of 9800. When I got my new Z10, I found there was no passwords keeper anymore. SO I DOWNLOADED IT FROM BLACKBERRY WORLD. Problem occurs when I restore the old data into the new Z10. LINK TELLS ME THAT THE RESTORE WAS SUCCESSFUL, BUT THE PASSWORDS KEEPER IS STILL EMPTY! WHAT COULD I DO?
    THREE:
WHERE ARE MY FAVORITE ARROWS SHOWING NETWORK ACTIVITIES? I always think the two lovely arrows which show and disappear according to the current network activity are a UNIQUE sign of BLACKBERRY, and the sign shows A BLACKBERRY IS A BLACKBERRY. WHERE ARE THEY? I know I might be a little bit crazy here. But as I’m supporting my beloved Blackberry for years, I do hope that I could continue my support in the future. So, please help me and tell me what to do.
    Many many thanks!

I found a way to solve the contact issue:
    1. Use desktop software to transfer all contacts in the old blackberry to Windows Contacts.
    2. Use Windows Live Mail to output all Windows Contacts to individual .vcf files.
    3. Use the following command in CMD.exe to make all .vcf into one file.
    copy /b *.vcf all.vcf
    4. Use a gmail to import the .vcf into its contacts.
    5. Setup that gmail account as your Z10 mail account and synchronization contacts.
BUT I COULD STILL NOT SOLVE THE PASSWORD KEEPR PROBLEM.

  • TORCH 9800 " How to stop the DATA Wiping due to Problems with Password Input "

    PHONE  TYPE:
    Torch 9800 (1256)
    PROBLEM:
On Friday, April 5th ... after several attempts of inputting my screen password I was constantly told by the 9800  that the wrong password was being attempted; which I know I did input the right PW . [ I believe that one key pertaining to the PW string is faulty and therefore not accepting the right character ] . When I had suffered prior password issues after several attempts the 9800 indicated on the screen that I would be locked out for 15 minutes until I could attempt again. This time after attempting what I believe was 9 times I suffered a  "OMG"  (Oh My God) situation where-in I believe the screen indicated to me that information would be erased; at that point I saw a progressive bar appear on the screen with the word "WIPING"  and I immediately opened the back of the phone and removed the battery to stop the wipe at 40%.
One hour+ later I inserted the battery back into the 9800 and once again the data wipe bar appeared on the screen and I pulled the battery to halt the wipe at 20%.
I went to the Blackberry Official web site and sought out any solutions to stopping the data wipe in the Torch 9800 manuals and other service areas and there was no mention of the data wipe. I sought out other web sites for solutions and there was none... I also referenced   a number of Black Berry forums and found that there where mentions of the same issue I was experiencing BUT no solutions.
I then pulled my sim card and inserted it into another Torch 9800  I maintain as a backup and when I went to my Mac Book Pro to connect the alternate 9800  and transfer data to it from the Blackbery desktop manager I was told their was a system failure. I attempted several times to in the dialogue box to copy data and settings from another device and again a system failure appeared. I again went to BB Torch Forums and found out that there have been a number of issues with Apple Macs and back up and transfers of data to Torch 9800 .
On Saturday I contacted Telstra Mobile Technical support and was connected to a Black Berry technical solution specialist who after referring to their BB manual and speaking to colleagues informed me that they saw NO work around solution.
I am therefore appealing to Blackberry wisemen & women to inform me if there is a solution to either obtain my backup data from my Mac and or to halt the Torch 9800 from wiping out my data if I have been able to pull the battery from the device. I have been user of Blackberry devices from the pagers of 1999 and have owned and operated over 14 BBs since along with my wife who is now on her first.
I am looking forward to your reply.

    Welcome to BlackBerry Support Forums
Sorry to hear that you're experincing such issues !
    canadagoose wrote:

But this situation happens when you enter wrong password for your BlackBerry ID , but not with device password that a user set in his device :
    KB24157 : BlackBerry ID lockout behaviour .
As you're an old user as you mentioned in your post , I think you will agree that BlackBerry are the most secure devices available , if we enter wrong password to many times ( By default 10 times ) then it will initiate a wipe process , which you cannot stop my any mean.
Sorry to say but there is no way or any workaround available to stop a device wipe after it is initiated .
Reading your backup issue , have you ever done a full backup or a custom backup which atleast include your address book ! If you have it then after a wipe you can restore it from those backup files.

  • Odd track pad movement problem with new Pear 9800

Hi all - appreciate your insight on this:
on a new 9800 Pearl, it is a real chore to use the track pad...have to move my finger or thumb across is several times to get it to move.
BUT: if I cover the pad or finger/thumb with a kleenex or my tie - it moves around quite fast and freely (and frankly - perfectly).
I thought maybe it was due to oils on my fingers?  But even freshly washed, this still occurs.
I've set sensitivity to 90 for both.
    Any suggestions?
    thanks,

I just got my brand new 9800 and I am having the SAME EXACT trackpad problem...I am getting increasing annoyed by the second...Mine gives the problems in no or low light...I cant even catch the cursor to use it...then it types what it feels like selecting for me to type!!!

  • Group-by grid component

Hello, Is there a group-by component, which allows you to group the grid by column? Similar to the Microsoft Outlook aggregation feature where when you select a column, it will group the grid results by that column. I know that extjs has this.
