9800 Xt problem

decided i didnt like my old motherboard so i got a k8n so i could do a bit of clocking.
installed board without a problem and did a fresh install of win xp sp1 (dont like sp 2). got all the latest drivers and installed untill i ran into a sevier problem with the graphic card drivers.
to begin with the card works fine under the standard xp vga driver but as soon as i insall the cats my machine will load untill the point of actually going to desktop and then lock. sometime the screen will be blank and other time it will be as thou it is out of resolution (max res = 1600 x 1024).
i have tried this with as many driver combinations as i can think of with alot of setting turned off in the bios including side band/fast writes/ apeture size.
i have tried the card in both DVI/vga mode and still the same and i have also tried the card in my other machine and all works fine.
If i put my ATI 9200 in my main machine everything works fine there.
any ideas ????

I was having problems with my 9800 pro hanging during gameplay.....the remedy ?
Disable the vpu recovery and bump up the agp voltage from 1.5 to 1.6.  I am not sure which one did the trick but no more hanging.  I will investigate further to find out exactly which one fixed it.

  • Torch 9800 wifi problems

I can connect it to my wireless N router (a D-link DIR-615) just fine.
However, after a short period of time (not even long enough to watch a full Youtube video), the internet connection just stops functioning, and the little icon (I assume it means 'active' disappears from next to the wi-fi icon, which still indicates the wi-fi is connected.  The only way I can get the internet connection to work again is to disconnect and reconnect the wi-fi, which buys me another minute or so of internet connection.
It's connected using WPA2, which is configured correctly because the Torch can successfully connect.
For these purposes, I'm testing this with the  mobile network turned off..  With the mobile network turned on, it will revert back to the 3G connection, which of course I'm trying to avoid when I'm at home...
Any ideas?  Any further information required?
    Thanks

As best as I can tell, there's an incompatibility issue with the 'N' wifi connectivity, either in the Torch 9800 or a whole lot of N wireless routers.
I disabled the 'N' functionality in my DIR-615 router, set it to mixed B and G, and now I have no problems at all with the wifi connection dropping.  Might be a little slower (assuming the Torch does take full advantage of N's extra speed when it works), but it's working well for me now....

  • 9800 screen problems

Hoping someone might be able to help.
I recently started using my mom's old 9800.The phone worked great for a month or so(been sitting for a year)but then began behaving odd.Sometimes when i slide it open, the screen the top where the date and time are located blurs into a muti-colored "snow" and the screen becomes temporariliy unusable.
Attempting to use the trackball causes the snow to spread over the entire screen.but If left alone for a few seconds it will usually clear up on its own.
I  wiped it and reinstalled the os on the off chance it was a software issue but it appears to be the screen or maybe a loose connection?Wondering if any1 has had a similar issue and if it would be worth the time/money/effort to fix.  Have an upgrade available with att but was going to use this phone to avoid paying for a data plan.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

What OS are you on? On your device, type in a new message MYVER and a space after to see and report back please.
I am running on 6.0.0.600 and dont have the issue you describe.

  • Torch 9800 BBM problem.

Hi, I am experiencing promlems with my phone as it will not let me send out friend requests. I am connected to the network and I have data access. What should I do?

Unfortunately with BBM, there usually isn't one issue you can correct instantly to solve the problem; it could be a problem with your BBM itself, it could be that your BIS is not configured properly, your carrier could be having issues with its network, etc.
All I can do is give you some generic answers in hopes that one of them will correct the issue.  The first thing to do is to make sure your BIS is set up properly.  Send yourself an email to an address you have set up on your phone.  If that goes through without incident, we can move on to step 2.
Next, I recommend uninstalling your BBM and reinstalling it.  To do this, on your homescreen go to Options>Applications or Options>Device>Application Management, depending on which OS your phone is running.  Find it in the list, highlight it with your cursor, press the menu key and select Delete.  Reboot your phone then reinstall it.  You can do this through BlackBerry Desktop Software, through App World or from your phone's browser at www.blackberry.com/messenger .  Once it's been reinstalled, try sending BBM requests again.
I hope that helps you.  Please post back with your results.
    - If my response has helped you, please click "Options" beside my post and mark it as solved. Clicking the "thumbs up" icon near the bottom of my response would also be appreciated.

  • TORCH 9800 " How to stop the DATA Wiping due to Problems with Password Input "

    PHONE  TYPE:
    Torch 9800 (1256)
    PROBLEM:
On Friday, April 5th ... after several attempts of inputting my screen password I was constantly told by the 9800  that the wrong password was being attempted; which I know I did input the right PW . [ I believe that one key pertaining to the PW string is faulty and therefore not accepting the right character ] . When I had suffered prior password issues after several attempts the 9800 indicated on the screen that I would be locked out for 15 minutes until I could attempt again. This time after attempting what I believe was 9 times I suffered a  "OMG"  (Oh My God) situation where-in I believe the screen indicated to me that information would be erased; at that point I saw a progressive bar appear on the screen with the word "WIPING"  and I immediately opened the back of the phone and removed the battery to stop the wipe at 40%.
One hour+ later I inserted the battery back into the 9800 and once again the data wipe bar appeared on the screen and I pulled the battery to halt the wipe at 20%.
I went to the Blackberry Official web site and sought out any solutions to stopping the data wipe in the Torch 9800 manuals and other service areas and there was no mention of the data wipe. I sought out other web sites for solutions and there was none... I also referenced   a number of Black Berry forums and found that there where mentions of the same issue I was experiencing BUT no solutions.
I then pulled my sim card and inserted it into another Torch 9800  I maintain as a backup and when I went to my Mac Book Pro to connect the alternate 9800  and transfer data to it from the Blackbery desktop manager I was told their was a system failure. I attempted several times to in the dialogue box to copy data and settings from another device and again a system failure appeared. I again went to BB Torch Forums and found out that there have been a number of issues with Apple Macs and back up and transfers of data to Torch 9800 .
On Saturday I contacted Telstra Mobile Technical support and was connected to a Black Berry technical solution specialist who after referring to their BB manual and speaking to colleagues informed me that they saw NO work around solution.
I am therefore appealing to Blackberry wisemen & women to inform me if there is a solution to either obtain my backup data from my Mac and or to halt the Torch 9800 from wiping out my data if I have been able to pull the battery from the device. I have been user of Blackberry devices from the pagers of 1999 and have owned and operated over 14 BBs since along with my wife who is now on her first.
I am looking forward to your reply.

Sorry to hear that you're experincing such issues !

But this situation happens when you enter wrong password for your BlackBerry ID , but not with device password that a user set in his device :
    KB24157 : BlackBerry ID lockout behaviour .
As you're an old user as you mentioned in your post , I think you will agree that BlackBerry are the most secure devices available , if we enter wrong password to many times ( By default 10 times ) then it will initiate a wipe process , which you cannot stop my any mean.
Sorry to say but there is no way or any workaround available to stop a device wipe after it is initiated .
Reading your backup issue , have you ever done a full backup or a custom backup which atleast include your address book ! If you have it then after a wipe you can restore it from those backup files.

  • Problems with QT 7.1.1?

I had some wired experiences viewing the Apple Quicktime ads yesterday. As something like this never happened before I suspect the Quicktime 7.1.1 update.
When I looked at the network ad first the sound sample rate was to slow. I stooped the movie, the sound continued. I restated the movie an I heard the sound twice (time-shifted). I reloaded the page and all played normal.
I had a look on the restart ad on HD. It began normal but suddenly I some ghost picture and somehow fragmented content (it lasted long enough to make a screenshot).
I was not able to reproduce the effect more than twice on multiple tries. Did anyone else had similar effects?
    G5 (M9032)   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   3GB Ram, Radeon 9800 BTO

our problem was in reference to my agency's problem with Quicktime...not other users on this discussion board.
    Sorry for the confusion.
bnoir, I've followed a few of your suggestions to other folks having similar problems and also got "confirmation" when I found that I had already done what you suggested. Thanks for the support.
Unfortunately nothing seems to work so far.
My "capable hands" as you call them are stumped and at a loss at what to do other than contact Apple directly.
Again, thank you for your help. On to Apple.

  • X11 crashing after system update (nvidia)

    Hi!
Today I updated my laptop, which wasn't updated for quite a while (c. 700-800 MB download, without big games). There was a minor kernel-update (2.6.30.1 to 2.6.30.4) and an update of the nvidia drivers (185.18.14 to 185.18.31). After a reboot, X didn't start any more. "startx" or kdm or whatever lead into a black screen, no nvidia-logo is shown and I can only work via ssh with the computer, local keyboard didn't work any more.
I have a GeForce Go 7400 in the laptop. On my desktop-pc (with an nvidia GefForce 9800) the problem didn't occure. I found out that going back to nvidia 185.18.14 solves the problem.
Okay, here some logs about the bug: When I am logged in via ssh and do a local startx on a local console, I get the following:

Ah, yes something I forgot. The xorg.conf is maybe not the nicest, but it's okay. Switching the driver from nvidia to vesa "solves" the problem, too. I already tried a completely new xorg.conf with "X -configure" but if this one uses "nvidia" as a driver, I get the crash.
Okay, if anybody has an idea what goes wrong there, that would be great!
    Thanks in advance,
    Thomas

    hi,
exactly same problem with my vaio sz4 (nvidia 7400Go) after an upgrade kernel (2.6.30-2 to 2.6.30-4) and nvidia (185.18.14-1 to 185.18.31-1). Black screen on reboot.
Downgrande to 185.18.14-1 fix the issue.
    Thanks.

  • BBM stopped working

My wife has a Torch 9800. A few days ago she got a new SIM. Everything worked fine for a day, then her BBM stopped working. It wont send/receive. Every other BB service is working fine as are all other elements. I called the provider, they checked everything from their end and it seemed fine. I have done dozens of battery pulls, uninstalled BBM and reinstalled, sent service books......... nothing has worked.......ANY IDEAS?

it is related to the new service provider read the thread below

  • Battery life 9810

    Have used the 9800 without problems. Received the 9810 4 weeks ago. Battery went dead way to soon. Phone became warm till hot, even when not in use. Went back to the provider, they said this a well known issue. Phone has had the latest update 2 days ago and here's what it does so far;
It went dead after 18 hrs. During this time I had 42 minutes of calling time, received and read 2 BB messages and tried to make 15 calls which were not made.
WiFi was set on, in neighborhood of WiFi connection about half the time. All other settings standard, bluetooth off no apps downloaded on the phone.
Still long not good enough I think. Service is worthless with the provider, but living on a small island / country, there's only one other option, but this will mean loosing my 15 yr old business number.
    What you guys think.

On device go to Options, Device, Application Management is a great way to see what your apps are doing with your CPU usage on Smartphone. Just slide top bar to CPU and see what is going on. Also touch the CPU menu to see other time variables. I found out that an app was eating away CPU cycles on mine
Disable Compression on media card? go to Options, Device, Storage
using a custom theme? try it for a day the factory default one to rule out your theme
remember the esc key closes most apps, except for GPS and some chat clients. the other apps need to use menu and then exit or close. The farthest key to the right is a home key and does not close any apps per se but will end calls.
