9800 XT residual pixel issues

Hi everyone, I have a Dual 1.8 G5 with 2 gb of RAM and a Viewsonic VX2025 LCD monitor. I recently purchased a system pull 9800 XT card from OWC a couple of days ago and popped it in.
I know this card was an upgrade option for my 1.8 from Apple so I thought there should be no issues with it...not really.
I have been suffering some odd pixel issues...not really pixels but rather sizeable SQUARES all over the screen. Hovering a window or even doing a selection area will remove these 'pixels' but will reappear later on. Not in the same spots mind you. Happens as well when watching DVDs.
Games are the worst. It's almost as if I can see the refresh or 'scan'. I have zapped the PRAM, I have repaired permissions and have even popped the card in and out to make sure the contacts are true.
Please please please...anyone with advice, any advice!
Dual 1.8 G5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   2gb RAM and a Viewsonic VX2025 monitor

Ok, I'm back and the card is acting up again.
A few days ago, I walked in my computer room and saw my G5 had the gray screen crash. Fan was kicking hard. I did the shutdown and restarted after 15 seconds. My screen was suffering the pixel/quilt issue I had awhile ago.
I ended up raising the overclock of the card from 5% to almost 10% to make the pixels go away. Also, from boot up, It seems there is quite a delay for aticellerator to kick in and the initial screen is riddled with squares. I have to activate the screensaver to 'wash off' of pixels and get a decent desktop.
I have tried reinstalling aticellerator.
I have physically removed and reinstalled the card.
I have downloaded whatever drivers ati had to offer for the 9800xt.
I have even reinstalled my system. I did this thinking maybe with a fresh reinstall and Tiger having a chance to rescan my current setup would be able to install the appropriate drivers...in case there was a conflict somewhere.
Any advice anyone? Thanks!

  • Residual pixelation in video

I have been using iSkysoft to rip DVDs to .mp4 or (more recently to see if it was the problem) .m4v format. I have had the videos transfer perfectly to my 4th generation nano using the same software and formats. When I play the video, the sound is just fine, but I get green pixelation or residual pixelation that makes seeing the video difficult. The movies play properly on my Macbook. I checked the "Prefer standard definition" box to no effect and "Create ipod or iphone version" in the Advanced tab to no avail. Please help.

I am running into the exact same issues, only for my Ipad. Using Iskysoft to convert the DVD to an MP-4. Plays fine through my Macbook and even after uploading them to Itunes. But when I transfer them to my Ipad, I get audio fine but nothing but green pixelation throughout for video. Any help on this would be great.

  • Video Pixelation Issue - New HP Pavilion 15-P008TX Notebook - Windows 8.1

    Ahoy,
I've seen topics regarding this issue - i.e. first day running a new HP Pavilion 15-P008TX, using Windows 8.1...
However the video quality on videos being played from the DVD Drive, HDD, and streamed videos (e.g YouTube) are extremely low quality.
Unfortunately I can't screenshot the issue - the best way to describe it would be to say that the videos look like YouTube videos being viewed on 144p
DVDs, and even 1080p videos are low quality and pixelated...
So far I've tried the following to no avail:
    - Uninstalling and Reinstalling intergrated video drivers (Intel HD 4400) and Nvidia 3D drivers (Geforce 830M)
    - Switching scaled views in the display section
    - Installing VLC (with the latest codecs) to test if it was a codec issue
    - Running a windows update
    - Changing Graphic settings that may intefere with issues in quality (both Intel HD settings app and Nvidia 3D settings)
Windows Apps and programs aren't affected, only video playback.
First day of using my new HP Notebook, and i'm hoping to resolve this issue promptly.
    Cheers.

    Hello Whoissyntax,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
In terms of the video pixel issue, it seems like there might be a hardware failure. You have also done the majority of the troubleshooting. The only other steps I can suggest are here: Display Quality Issues
If you are not satisfied, I would contact HP phone support, or return the product if possible. You can utilize this website to learn how to contact HP appropriately, based on your region: Contact HP Worldwide
Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. Thanks for bringing this issue to the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • AS2 noScale and pixelation issue

We are doing a number of banners for a client in AS2 using Flash 8 Pro. The version was their specification.
Now I've generated a series of PNGs in photoshop at precisely the same dimensions an imported them directly into the Flash Library. The problem is, when we epublish this to HTML it scales up about 120% and pixelates badly. I've already explored a few workarounds to varying success. Allow me to explain:
In the swf preview (Ctrl+Enter) I get no scale or pixelation issues. The render is clean and sized correctly. The scale problem is only happening in the HTML publishing.
-I double checked the code on the HTML and the size specifications are the same as those in my FLA and PSD. Identical.
-In the publishing settings I discovered that the noScale option prevented the issue, but only for the machine I was working on. None the other test machines saw any improvement in the published banner(we have 4).
-I tried embedding a noScale Actionscript directly into the FLA. Same issues as above. Only the work PC displayed the correct size, the other machines did not.
-I tried manually setting the HTML publish size specifications. Again, same problem.
What's strange to me is that the noScale only corrects the problem for the machine the project was done on. Makes me think some caching is to blame for the misrepresentation. And the HTML Publish seems to be ignoring my size specifications for the SWF altogether. Can someone tell me why this is happening?

Well it looks like I may have resolved this issue, sort of. John (owner of the tapes) let me borrow his camera for the experiment (Thanks). This is what I did with the theory that if I captured using a sony dcr-vx2000 pixelation would be reduced.
The other night (late), I pulled some hurricane Katrina footage that I had not captured yet and capture it with the canon xl2. on playback of the capture NO PIXELATION was observed at all(I watched it three times). I took the originalvtapes that I worked with last week on the wedding and recaptured on the caon xl2. Resulted in occasional pixelation. I then took the same tape and re captured it from the sony camera. Resulted in NO pixelation when playback observed on a tv and on pc screen.
    Conclusion:
even though ths is not scientifically provef true or fals, I observed that to capture from a mini dv tape if shot on sony camera, you need to use a sony camera for capture. Same thingapplies with canon.
Note: Canon and Sony, please address these issues as a professional courtesy to the rest of your customers. Thank you.

  • Besides the pixel issue any other reason not to use iphone apps in ipad?

besides the pixel issue any other reason not to use iphone apps on ipad??

There are no technical reasons why you can't use them (unless they are some of the few apps that require full phone capability which you won't be able to install). -If you are happy with either using them in an iPhone sized portion of the screen, or with the pixelated 2x size, then use them. I use quite a few apps from my iPhone and iPod Touch, and I've got used to the pixelisation and I don't really notice it as much as I used to.

  • Shouldn't Apple recall and provide FREE replacement for MacBook Pro screens with ghosting and dead pixel issues?

Read the forum posts, Google the issue, watch the YouTube videos on the problems; they are everywhere. I purchased a 2012 Retina MacBook Pro and the screen is riddled with dead pixels, white ghosting throughout, and image retention issues, all from a company that promotes the quality of the product they sell. There's no way this issue facing so many consumers shouldn't result in Apple replacing these screens for FREE.
I purchased the high-end machine for photo and video editing. Photo editing is particularly difficult when I can't tell if I have dust, dirt or colour shifts in my images or if it's just the screen overlaying these issues. I've never had so many issues with any screen I've purchased, from my Panasonic Plasma TV to my cheap ACER laptop. Please Apple, quit ignoring this issue.

  • Wierd Pixelation Issue

I have pixelation on my TV.  It is coming from FIOS, as it does not appear when we are watching DVD's or Roku.  As a matter of fact, it does no happen in FIOS menus, only when watching live TV, recorded programs, or on demand.  There is a band, about 1/3 of the way down the screen, 3 inches wide, that extends half way across the screen.
Any ideas what may be causing this?  (Sorry the picture is bad)  the pixels do change colors, they tend to bbe the oppsosite of what they should be (white when they should be black etc)
    Mike

Same Exact Problem here.  Notice it on HDMI and component outputs when I get it.  You do not see it when streaming.  Restarting box gets rid of it on mine.  I have had it three times in the last 3 weeks.  Trying to figure it out myself because I do not want to replace box because I have many, many shows on external hard drive, Through trouble shooting, I am leaning towards external hard drive/esata cable.  I do not get it when external drive is disconnected.  One thing I am currently testing is a shielded esata cable, being so close to the HDMI cable\port,  I do not trust the esata cable I have. Going to swap HDMI cable also. Something messes up the output.  I will let you know results.
For people having similar issues and troubleshooting, here is what I am using:
    7232 DVR
    2gb external drive (Non-WD/Seagate Pipeline)
    HDMI primary output
Use Close Caption a lot  (Casual font)
If you are getting a similar problem, please post your equipment.  I would like to see if any common thread.
    Thanks

  • Sub-pixel issues solved?

I got my iPod Video less than a month ago. Today, I was watching some Aqua Teen Hunger Force on it and I noticed some pixels were stuck on red, blue, or green. I did a little research and found that means those sub-pixels are stuck on. I did a little searching around these forums and saw a color test from the diagnostic menu. This was quite helpful once I got to the black screen test. The pixels were obviously showing color. Then I accidently bumped the iPod and noticed different pixels were now stuck and a couple of the ones that were stuck weren't anymore. This got me thinking a little so I gave the screen a flick. After a few flicks, viola! No more sub-pixels stuck on, they work normally now. I think this is a rather annoying issue and I would have thought about returning the iPod if they were truely stuck on. I thought I'd say something about it on here though in case anybody runs into a similar issue.

To remove the coloring completely, use greyscale instead of subpixel rendering.
However, I would recommend instead finding a compromise you're happy with, e.g. playing with the FIR.

  • [SOLVED] firefox3 : huge icons and large fonts with big pixels issue

    hi all,
i have a weird issue regarding firefox3b3 (and firefox3b4 from mozilla.org as well). Firefox2.0.12 is running fine, but the beta of 3 has insanely huge fonts and icons so big that I cannot use it properly.
I have removed my .mozilla folder but that did not help, i have reinstalled it, downloaded the true ff3b4 from mozilla.org but all the same problem. On windows and solaris ff3 is running fine. Does anyone know what is doing this and how to fix it? icons are so large that it is even starting to get pixelated. I also tried <ctrl> - and <ctrl>/ and <ctrl>0 but none of those help either.
    thanks,
    stefan.

i have finally found a solution that Really works on the Ubuntu forum, i still had the same issue on my laptop (why it behaves different from my desktop i dont know, maybe because hwd -xs didnt make a 1920x1200 modeline in xorg.conf) but the following acutally works:
    1) Go to about:config in ff3
    2) Search "dpi". The value may be set to -1 (maybe auto-detection)
    3) Change it to 96 (default dpi)
    4) Enjoy Firefox 3!!!

  • Raw vs sraw hot pixel issue question

From tests I've come to realize that lightroom processes raw and sraw files differently in Lightroom 3. Hot pixels are automatically removed in standard raw files, but sraw files are not corrected the same way.
It seems odd that they would not add this as I can't think of any other reason to shoot timelapses in such a large format besides this one serious issue. Sraw is more than large enough, for even a 2k format.
My question is whether LR4 remedies this issue, or if I need to take a different route?
    Thank you,

sRaw is no longer a true raw file - it's already been demosaiced.  You could call it 'half-baked'.  So Lightroom doesn't have as much control over things like hot pixels.  Lightroom 4 doesn't change that, sorry.
An alternative you could consider for timelapse would be to shoot full raw and then convert them to a lower resolution lossy DNG format, at a similar res to the sRaw file.  You'd need extra cards at the time of shooting, but you'd end up with smaller files in the end, and your hot pixels should be removed in the process as LR would have all the data to work with.

  • Sept 2012 Macbook Pro dead pixel issue

    Hi,
My Macbook pro from Sept 2012 has recently had a major issue with pixels dying, around 10-15 in a few weeks. My Macbook is out of warranty as over a year old so I am wondering what my options are? I don't believe the dead pixels are a fault of my own as I have seen a lot of problems with this issue online.
    Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately dead pixels cannot be resuscitated.  The solution is a replacement of the display.
Had you purchased Apple Care, the display, if it was outside the Apple pixel display standards, may have been replaced for free.
    Ciao.

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CC render pixeled issue

    Hi
i have a user who have an issue when she render the video  she made with adding text to the video the render Windows look like pixeled ...
the image is not sharp very fuzzy and the text also is bad.
what can we do ? she add the latest version of adobe premiere cc
    Thanks

    Hi
    this is what i have
What version of Premiere Pro? Include the minor version number (e.g., Premiere Pro CS5.5 with the 5.5.2 update). CC v8.1
Have you installed the recent updates? (If not, you should. They fix a lot of problems.) All of them
What operating system? This should include specific minor version numbers, like "Mac OSX v10.6.8"---not just "Mac".   Windows 7 64 bits 32 gb of ram
What kind(s) of source footage? When telling about your source footage, tell us about the codecs, not just the container types. For example, "H.264 in a .mov container", not just "QuickTime".
    Chemin d'accès au fichier : C:\Rachelle\OL Projets Vidéo\OL- Connect Launch\Assets\Vidéo\SONY\00009.MTS
    Type : Séquence MPEG
Taille du fichier : 2,0 Go
    Taille d'image : 1920 x 1080
If you are getting error message(s), what is the full text of the error message(s)? none
What were you doing when the problem occurred? Working normally
Has this ever worked before? yes
What other software are you running? After effects
Do you have any third-party effects or codecs installed? no
Tell us about your computer hardware. Be especially certain to tell us about third-party I/O hardware (e.g., AJA, Matrox, Blackmagic, MOTU). none
Are you using Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration? yes
Does the problem only happen with your final output, with previews, or both? Fully rendered previews are at a very low quality, when they are unrendere they look great (see attached photo)

  • Retina highlight/ dead pixels issues

    Hi
I have recently started to see highlight (dead) pixels on my MBP retina display. I thought these are dead pixels so I went to the Apple store to get it fixed.
It turns out that these are not dead pixels but actually tiny dents on the thin glass cover that might have happen from small particles on the keyboard or the surface around it.
According to the guys in the Apple store a few people came with the same issue but we where told that this is not covered by warranty as it's a damage caused by the user!
This is a big concern and should be investigated by Apple. does this mean that we need to keep the keyboard and surrounding area completely clean each time before we close the lid? It never happened on any of my laptops in 15 years.
If you see something that looks like a dead pixels try to scrape the the glass with your nail. If it feels like there is something on the glass like a small bump then it's not a dead pixel but a tiny dent on the glass and Apple won't fix it under warranty.
This makes the MBP Retina a product a very fragile product so think twice before you buy one.
    Cheers,
    Mica

I just got back from the apple store. The guy immediately agreed to replace the screen under my apple care and promised that we would check if there would still be image retention issues with the new one in the store and that they'd swap it again if there were. He also claimed that while he'd seen issues early on, he hadn't seen any problems for the past few months.
I got a new samsung screen and they ran an image retention test in the store with me and everything checked out fine. So I just want to give a big shoutout to apple for being super cool about this and to tell others with the same worries as me to just go there and talk to them. The problem I guess with looking at stuff online is that you mostly only see people  writing that have had bad experiences... so here's to also reporting when you have a good one!

  • Screen Pixelation Issue

My Macbook Pro has been having issues. When I'm on Chrome, parts of the browser will suddenly have chunks missing and show my desktop.
I took it to the Genius bar and they sent it out to have the logic board replaced, but I am still having the issue.

I know what you're talking about, but I don't think there's a good way around this issue
I've always noticed that images look clear at 25, 50, 100, but not at 33.3, 66.7
You have to view at 100% pixel aspect ratio to really see the image data properly. You're limited by the lower resolution of the display.

  • Pixelation issue continues......

Hi all. I just did a edit on a wedding and there was a lot of pixelation durring the edit and on the print to tape. I did use a tv for preview and pixelation was visible. Now just to fill in some additional details. I captured it usig my Canon XL2. The shoot was done by some one else using a Sony 3ccd camera of some type. The tape is a panasonic mini dv tape (AY-DVM63PQ). Is it possible I may be having a tape, player caturing stew that is the cause of the pixelation? If additional nfo is needed please let me kow. Thanks all.
