99/98 Bug in all NOKIA phones

I have marked it as 99/98 Nokia bug - and this can be reproduced as follows:
1) Take any of your friend's India cell number - started with 98 or 99.
2) Now store the first two digits as 99 instead of 98 and rest 8 digits are same in address book.
3) Now start dialling the original number started with 98*** ***** - the actual number - you will see your friend's name is displaying as dial.
4) Ask your friend to dial from his/her phone - you would be suprised to see that your friend stored name is displaying on the phone though you have stored different number starting with 99 in the address book.
Confirm this is a NOKIA bug or what?????
I have seen couple of models - could you please confirm this with other models.

I don't think that this is a recent problem. I remember a long time ago when I was first using 2110's and CLI was coming into force in the UK. All the UK STD codes were changed to start 01 & all mobile numbers were changed to start 07. Some of us who were more efficient about such things updated our saved phone numbers straight away as for receiving calls both versions of a number would work although outgoing calls only used the pre-updated version until the night of the big changeover. The CLI on an incoming call would display the saved contact name regardless of whether old or new version of STD code saved. I had one instance where I had saved the wrong STD code completely for one contact and incoming calls still showed the right contact name.
Therefore, I suspect it might be the case that it looks for a match of only a certain no.of digits, perhaps the last 6...??

  • Absolutely impossible to connect nokia phone in pc...

For me it's now absolutely impossible to connect nokia phone in pc suite mode. Not the first time for problems with PCsuite either. It has been working shaky for a couple of months but now it absolutely refuses connections in PC suite mode. USB connection are never any problem but I cannot sync the phone in this mode unfortunately so it does not help. Have tried all uninstallations and re-installations possible but nothing helps. Only a total re-install of the computer will probably help. WHY is PC suite such a unstable program! I think the concept is great and very nice but the connection part of this program simply have to be improved soon! Or make it possible to sync the data in USB mode to make the everything so much simpler.

This time the problems happen with Windows XP and Nokia 6110N but it has been with all software versions, all Nokia phones I've had.

2630 Bluetooth. Can anyone suggest a step by step instruction "How to" to connect my Nokia 2630 to my PC through Bluetooth. I believe this is the only way to download my Nokia 2630 information.
Have to confess - as you can tell already - I'm a bit of luddite and very new to this. I don't know how Bluetooth technology works. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks. Colin.

  • Nokia phone 2760

Hi, all of a sudden my phone is not sending or receiving txts, or receiving incoming calls.
    Can you help please.

There's not alot you can try on a S40 phone like the 2760. What you can do is a revert to factory default settings. This won't delete any data of yours like contacts and calendar events, it'll just put all the settings back to the factory defaults (theme, ringtone etc.)
Simply enter *#7780# fron the standby screen. You will be prompted for your security code. Unless you've changed it (in which case you should know what it is) it'll be the default code on all Nokia phones: 12345.
If this doesn't work then you might have to have the phone reflashed and/or updated at a Nokia Care Point. Back up all your data first using PC Suite and a bluetooth adapter because the reflash will wipe everyting from the phone.

  • Possible Bug !? Incoming FXO Call Reboots all the phones !

    System is simple enough.
    3xSPA303G phones. 2xFXO trunk. 1xSIP trunk.
    Nothing else !
Incoming call from FXO line goes to extension 101, she starts to talk  than after a few seconds, the voice goes away. When she hangs up, all the phones reboot. Reason of reboot shows "SIP triggered" on all phones. This happens all the time and everytime there is a call from FXO.
Also when there is an incoming call from the FXO line and is forwarded to again ext 101, but Extention 100 <grpick> the call, there is no problem !
    Logs are attached.
This problem is killing us. Someone please help !

  • I need Nokia phone, PLZ help me.

I wanna buy new and latest Nokia phone. I am really interested in 6300. In this morning, i have decided to buy 6300. But i've read some topics about Nokia 6300 that was about disappear SD card and battery time is very short. Then after that posts I am fully confused. Which model is the best? if someone has suggest to me please tell me......

All models of phones from all manufacturers generally have some form of bug in them. Most bugs can be corrected by firmware updates.
The vast majority of phone users will never notice problems with the phone.
The best thing you could do is if you like the phone, try it out somewhere and then buy it. Test it out throughly and if you are not happy with it then return it.
Personally I prefer the 6233 over 6300 but thats just because I like the look of the 6233 (black model) better.

  • Making programs for nokia phones which have symbian operating system

    hi
I want to make program for nokia phones.I wrote a program for pc general application and i want to change it for mobile phones. Please inform me about how to make program for mobile phones step by step?
    thanks for your replies.

If your PC application is in java and suitable for the limitations of CLDC / MIDP, I really don't see any barrier -- of course, you may have to sacrifice much of the layout and possibly some of the functionality. Hard to say without knowing exactly what you have in mind.
Simple core java classes require no conversion and can be adopted into your mobile app. MIDlet is the basic application class, roughly (only roughly) corresponding to Applet for larger platforms.
So... I'm assuming that you're already reasonably famililar with the java language and syntax, and have a worked with a code editor and / or IDE. If that is the case, I would suggest you download and install NetBeans (if you don't already have it) and work through some of the mobility tutorials.
    www.netbeans.org/downloads/
The javadocs for jsr-118 (included with NB) will also help. More complete docs and code samples are available in plenty, google java j2me CLDC MIDP sample codes.
For Nokia-specific features, you may want to download the Nokia SDK and integrate it into NetBeans. Series 60 SDK 2.0 for Symbian OS is available at
    http://software.techrepublic.com.com/download.aspx?docid=78818
    (and many other places)
But I strongly recommend that you focus on device-independent applications, and use device-specific features only where absolutely necessary.
Hey - I'd never used java before (I do have experience in various other programming languages) and I had a centimetre-inch convertor up and running on my Motorola handset just 2 days after installing NetBeans.
You know java, you may do better :-)
    All the best, Darryl
Note: Download WTK 2.5 separately and integrate into NetBeans, the WTK 2.2 which comes bundled with NB has a few bugs :-(

  • How do I transfer contacts from my old Nokia phone to my new iPhone?

My old phone is a Nokia 2330c-2. My new phone is an iPhone4

    adams_engr wrote:
Please how do I transfer Contacts from old Nokia N8 to my new iPhone 4S?
    Yes there is,
Download and install Nokia Suite for your PC. After installation, go to "tools" in the top menu and click on "options". The Options window should open up. on the left side select "contacts" and then under "sync with contacts application", select "Windows Contacts". After this click on "ok".
Connect your Nokia C3-00 to the computer with Nokia Suite still open. Your phone will show up in the application. Move mouse cursor over the contacts square on the left of the application window, and then click "sync". Wait for the sync to finish. Disconnect the Nokia phone.
Download and install iTunes. Connect your iphone. from this application you will be given an option to import contacts from Windows contacts. This should give you all the contacts.

You are all kidding about this right?
Really, you do all know it's ENTIRELY down to product placement - ie: paid for advertising - rather than any "cool" factor, don't you?
I just can't believe there are intelligent people out there who still don't know that. I mean: why would a high profile pop star or the producer of a multi-million dollar movie feature a (usually entirely irrelevant) piece of technology in their product for free when they could get hundreds of thousands of dollars to do it?
It's not even like it's subtle anymore: have you seen how much product placement Apple have bought in Californication? Every other scene has someone using a powerbook or an iPod or at least talking about it.

  • Gigaframe L81 doesn't play sound in videos shot by Nokia phone. Can Q81 do?

    Hi All.
My parents have bought Gigaframe L81 photo frame.
My mother tried to use the photoframe to watch the videos shot by her Nokia phone. And the problem was that no sound was reproduced by the photoframe
As far as I know, newer Nokia phones shoot videos in the following format
    Video: MPEG4 Video 640x480
    Audio: AAC 48000Hz mono 768Kbps
When I look at the Gigaframe L80 & L81 features at the off. cite
    http://www.toshiba.eu/photoframe/detailsl80.htm
I see that it is said to support only Audio: MP3
At the same time Gigaframe Q80 & Q81 claim to support more sound codecs:
    http://www.toshiba.eu/photoframe/detailsq80.htm
    Audio: MP3, AAC, OGG
So I have the following questions:
    1) Are Q80 & Q81 actually more superior models than L80 & L81 ? My parents thought that L80 & L81 are better models, since they have a bigger screen. They thought that L80 & L81 should have more features. But it seems that Q80 & Q81 support more sound formats...
    2) Does Q80 & Q81 actually support AAC & support AAC audio streams in MP4 video files ?
    3) How can I know if Toshiba is going to add AAC support to L80 & L81 ? Or maybe my parents should sell their L81 and buy Q81 or something else ?
My parents are not going to use the software which comes on the CD to convert their videos, because first the software is too difficult for them, the other reason is that it takes time to convert the videos to formats supported by the frame and that means that all benefits from using a frame over a PC are gone...

    Hello yura-v,
    I am a Gigaframe L81 user also.
I asked the Toshiba Support Team, if there will be released a firmware update or something else.
They told me no. Toshiba is not going to add AAC support to L80 & L81 at the moment.
If Q80 & Q81 actually support AAC & support AAC audio streams in MP4 video files, I could not say sure, because I am only an owner of a Gigaframe L81.
I think the best way is, your parents should buy an Q80 or 81 and test this.
If this both doesn´t support the AAC streams they could give back the frame within 14 days.
If they support the AAC they can sell their L81 frame and keep the Q80 or Q81.
    best regards

  • Reformatting nokia phones

help me pls,, i just want to know the right procedure in reformatting nokia phones. i mean this,,, *#7370# ,,,
do i need to remove my sim card and mini SD card? someone who really know about this,,,pls explain it very well and for the sake of others also,,
are there more ways to reformat nokia phones aside from this *#7370# ?????

There are several levels of formatting. You never need to remove your sim or memory cards because these are not touched during the reset procedures.
Reset to factory defaults (*#7780#) : Restores settings but preserves user data (photos, 3rd party apps etc). This works in the same way as selecting it from the phones settings menu.
Full Reset (*#7370#) : This reformats completely the C: drive. All applications and files stored on this drive will be lost and clean default files will be rewritten.
The hard reset is more aggressive and has been know to solve some hardware issues such as non-functioning bluetooth. It's also the only method that may work if the phone cannot boot up.
    Hard reset:
    1. Switch off the phone.
    2. Hold down the following three buttons: Green (the call answer button), * button, and '3' button.
    3. While holding these buttons, hold the power button for a second to switch on the phone.
    4. Release when the phone shows the nokia hands logo or shows other signs of life like the language selection screen.
It may take a few attempts and very flexible fingers!

  • TV-Out feature in Nokia Phones

    Hello,
I was about to buy Nokia N79 or Nokia 5800 Xpress Music, and came to know that the TV out feature has been removed from most of the Nokia phones except higher end ones.
I was in despair because this feature was really a important for me and made me shortlist aforesaid two devices that were  in my budget.
I searched and found out that this is due to shortage of some hardware components....!!!!
So, I wanted to know that whether TV-Out function has permanently been removed or it will again be available when the necessare hardware components are available?????
Any idaes how much time should I need to wait for this feature to come back again???
    ..thanks n regards-----

HI That small sticker is the only hint to the problem, Nokia careline did not even know about the problem,  we have been ripped off plain and simple. I will never support Nokia in my life again and know of quite a few people who will not either, It is disgusting to get an answer like the one below from such a big company.
Imagine the next car you buy and in an accident the airbags dont deploy because they were not fitted due to a power failure. or your spare wheel is missing or the radio does not work. And then oh sorry we put some stupid little sticker under the dashboard where you cant see it. Go to hell Nokia, I will support cheep chinese knockoffs and copies of your product rather than spend my money on your ^%$ again. I am sick and tired of being ripped off by big business.
What are people going to do if there phones need replacing due to damage/failure/theft etc. absolutely disgusting Nokia
    Dear Lindsay,
Thank you for emailing Nokia Careline.
Due to a severe power-outage in our sub-supplier’s factory, we are
    experiencing a shortage with a TV-out component in August, 2009. As a
result, this component shortage will affect a limited number of devices
    during this manufacturing period.
We are currently looking into ways with which we can minimize the effect on
devices and ensure seamless deliveries. However, there is a possibility that
certain products in the Live and Connect categories will experience changes
in terms of functionality (TV-out not available) and sales package contents
(TV-out cable not included in variants that regularly would contain one)
during this manufacturing period. For the most part, the key features in
these devices are not related to the TV-out functionality.
We will inform consumers about the missing feature with a sticker on the
sales package and a leaflet inside the sales package. Individuals who wish
to ensure that their model supports TV-out feature should check the sales
package. Those without the sticker or leaflet will continue to offer the
feature. We expect that relevant sales packages delivered to the channel in
September will all have the feature.
Customer satisfaction and product quality are very important to Nokia and we
take all quality and customer satisfaction-related issues seriously.

Please suggest me which phone should I buy?
(Actually I am planning to buy Nokia 6233).
Will this phone perfact for all above features.
Please make sure there shouldn't be any problem with any feature.
    Please suggest me.
Your advice/reply would help me in buy the phone.
    Thanks
    Deepak

The 6233 is a great phone with the latest firmware installed but the original firmware is very buggy. You should check the firmware version currently installed on the phone before you buy by inserting the battery and pressing *#0000# on the phone. The phone will then display the installed firmware version. The original very buggy firmware is v. 3.70. I wouldn't buy a 6233 with that firmware unless you are prepared to immediately go to a Nokia Care Center to get the firmware upgraded which they will do for free. The latest firmware is 4.91. I had tons of problems with 3.70 but so far 4.91 has been fine. (Except for the display backlight timeout not being adjustable which is something intentional (and very stupid) that Nokia did.) I hope they get sued over it when it causes a motor vehicle accident.
    Currently using 6300 & 6233 (backup)

  • Can I sync two Nokia phones with Ovi Suite?

I have 2 different Nokia phones. I'd like to save my data to my PC, so I've just downloaded and installed Ovi Suite 2.2.1.23.
When I connected the second phone successfully, there was a green link that said something like "Get tips on syncing several phones with Ovi Suite". However when I clicked there, nothing happened.
When I click "Help->Nokia Ovi Suite Help" on the toolbar, nothing happens, no help tips.
The first phone synced all 82 photos and Contacts and messages to Ovi Suite.
I created a new album with that phone's name, and dragged those pictures from "All"  to the new album, to try & keep them organized.
When I connected the second phone all of the Contacts synced (there were a lot) and now they are mixed in with the contacts from the first phone. However the photos would not sync. Then a few photos synced, making a total of 156 shown in All (which included the 82 photos from the first phone). When I would click "Sync" nothing visible happened.
But I did see the photos from the second phone on the PC. I did drag them from the PC into the album created with the name of the second phone.
Now when I look at the photo album with the first phone's name, it says "You have no photos or videos in this album, Drag photos and videos to this album." Yikes! But they are still on my PC.
This is very confusing. I agree with the others, Nokia PC Suite worked well, Ovi Suite seems very confused.
Is any of this uploaded to my online Ovi account?
    Thanks for your advice.

    ronni333 & boing,
Somewhere on the nokia ovi website it says you need to use seperate windows logins. Have one login for work and use that when you use ovi to sync your work phone. Other login to sync your personal phone. I lost the link to that webpage, but that is about all it said.
ronni333 - I also had problem with ovi help, the link appeared to be empty. I was using Google Chrome to surf the net. Problem solved by using Internet Explorer instead.
Hope this info helps you guys.
    Cheers,
