99% memory usage all the time (MSI GX70 Destroyer)

Hi
My MSI Gx70 destroyer (6 months old) is running slow even when I'm not using any programs.
I noticed my Memory Usage is allways at 97-99% but I can't find the cause.
The "Non paged pool" seems to be taking up 6,4GB
I tried to google the problem but I can't find it (I don't know much about computers)
MSI GX70 3CC Destroyer
AMD A10-5750M APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics, 2500 MHz
8GB RAM (7,19GB available)
64bit x64 processor
Windows 8.1
I've added a screenshot of my processes (It's in Dutch but you get the point)
Any help would be very much appreciated

Update your LAN driver to the latest available one on MSI website.

  • High system(kernel) usage all the time! but windows runs normal

My 2013 MBA has a very high system usage all the time, and its very slow, and fan starts working at high speed at startup..
I did a clean install of both Mavericks and Mountain lion, and still got the same problem..
Also I'm using boot camp (windows 8.1) and it runs normal!!! I'm only having this trouble using OSX
Note: I had a liquid spill on it.

    Please post the EtreCheck output

You might also want to run Applications -> Utilities -> Activity Monitor and see if there is a process or processes that are running with high CPU loads.
The fans generally run fast and loud when the CPU is generating a lot of heat, and that generally only happens when apps are pushing the CPU to high percentages.
You could also look in the Applications -> Utilities -> Console for log entries that are frequently repeating, which might indicate a process that keeps failing and restarting again and again and ...

  • MBP Running at 98% CPU Usage All the Time

I'm not sure exactly when this first started, but now whenever I'm in Mac OS X a process called "Socket" running under "root" is constantly using ~98% of my dual-core CPU (out of a possible 200%). This prevents my computer from sleeping and it's obviously using a lot more energy all the time. I can shut the process down and the computer will relax for a while, but it's only a matter of time before it starts again. Any ideas on the matter? The help is greatly appreciated.

The process name is "socket". Is the user cupsd? Check for a print job stuck in the queue.
CUPS stands for Common UNIX Printing System; the cupsd process is the main print engine for OS X.
Run Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility, select your HDD and click Repair Permissions.
You might also try trashing your printing preference files (user/library/preferences folder, .plist files with names that start with com.apple.print).
    Hope this helps...
Ps: There's a nice printing repair utility (shareware) out there:

  • ICal 10.5.5 eats up my memory; crashes all the time.

After I upgraded my iCal to 10.5.5, I noticed that it started going haywire.
I was trying to put details on an appointment entry when the dreaded turning circle appeared. I noticed also that my Macbook seemed to slow down. I checked my iStat Pro widget and I was shocked with what I saw - iCal's eating up my processor and memory!
After a while, the thing just crashed.
Got any ideas why did happened and how to fix this?

I'm having the same problem. According to another thread the problem appears only when updating via software update & the solution is to download the standalone update and reinstall:
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/

  • High cpu usage all the time

I had a Aperture Library before and it converted to a Photos Library with 160GB including many of the original RAW formats. I got the library on an external USB3 SSD disk which is usually quite fast.
Now this conversion process is already finished, but when Photos is opened it constanly has a CPU usage above 100%, typically something between 150 and 300% CPU usage.
I also see the app is constantly reading and writing data. Has anyone an idea what it's doing? Couldn't be iCould sync as this is not activated for me.
And overall the app is pretty slow and not performing very well

I'm actually finding it pretty usable, but I have the exact same issue on my 2011 MacBook Pro (2.0Ghz). It's been running between 200%-600% CPU for the best part of two (business) days now and my library is smaller than yours (~ 17k images, ~100Gb).
I'm getting close to the point of giving up. Without any signs of progress it's difficult to tell whether it's doing anything useful (where's Apertures Activity pane when you need it?).
    Saw this in the logs:
10/04/2015 14:35:48.000 kernel[0]: process Photos[11712] thread 1386246 caught burning CPU! It used more than 50% CPU (Actual recent usage: 51%) over 180 seconds. thread lifetime cpu usage 154.283601 seconds, (114.205363 user, 40.078238 system) ledger info: balance: 90002042567 credit: 149514492269 debit: 59512449702 limit: 90000000000 (50%) period: 180000000000 time since last refill (ns): 174309468334
    And:

    And:

(This file suggests that it's doing face detection.)
These don't look good on the surface... but who knows?!

  • 25% cpu usage from sysmond process all the time

    Hi,
I have a MacBook Pro Retina running Mountain Lion and my battery is running out very soon (under 2 hours) and the MacBook is getting very warm. I found the process sysmond running with at least 25% cpu usage all the time. I can't kill that beast and it justs ***** my battery. A reboot doesn't help. How can I fix that?
    Regards,
    Philip

Open Activity Monitor,  Select 'sysmond', click on it and then click on the red octagon on the top of the widow.  The process should stop.
    Ciao.
There may be other reasons for the short battery run time.

  • GE60 ONC - HDD scratching all the time but HDD usage near 0%!

    Hello to all!
I recently bought an MSI GE60 ONC.
I started the computer by running Windows 8 OEM. Then my nightmare began.
1/ Waited almost 2 hours to DL Windows Update (60 upgrades found)
2/ Extremely HIGH HDD usage was encountered 100% when using WU...
3/ After all updates where done HDD usage at 0% down to 100% so I tought the problem was solved.
4/ Now when starting my computer the HDD usage seems ok BUT my HDD is still scratching all the time as if he was working... I'm sitting on the desktop doing nothing but the HDD is always working.
And now I heard a litle weird noise every 5 min.
Refreshing Windows 8 with F3 DONE
Installing Windows 8 with F3 DONE
    Help!
PS: Sorry if my english is weird it is not my first language.

how much system RAM you got?
and yes HDDs are not much fastern and they N1 units which slow down systems.

  • Msi 645e max2 ms-6567 crashes all the time

    SOMEONE PLZ HELP ME!
My computer crashes all the time.  Whenever I am playing game (warcraft iii)  In the breed game demo It crashed 6 times in the first 4 minutes in 6 tries.  I used to get error messages after every crash but I haven't been getting them anymore after I had disabled a lot of services in XP.
Other people seem to be having the same problem.  heres a link to the site address:
    http://hardwareanalysis.com/content/topic/1075/?o=40
The problem that the error message gave had something to do with ati2dvag.dll
    My system specs are:
    msi 645e max2-lru ms-6567 bios 1.0
    pentium 4 2.4b
512 mb crucial ram pc 2700 cl 2.5
    ati radeon 8500 64mb  6.14.10.6360
I have updated all my drivers except for the bios using the msi livemonitor update software and newest win XP patches.
I had irq conflicts but I removed the usb 2.0 controller.
That was done last week since then the crashes have the same frequency.
I HAVE HEARD THAT xp has this type of problems. is it true?  should i get win2000 or start using my win98se again?
Below is the only conflict left now under hardware resources -> conlicts/sharing:

    SOMEONE PLZ HELP!!!!!!!!!

    Hello,
I bought this motherboard nearly 4 months ago.  I had thought that their was something wrong with the ati driver but after trying them all out on windows xp and now (after formatting my Harddrive and installing win98 in 3 hours) playing warcraft iii on windows 98 It crashed again.  Same damn thing happened.
Up until this moment I had thought it was a friggin software problem.
By the way the mobo is with the new bios version now and giving me almost 15degrees less on the system temperature.
I just want to know if there is any way I can return this board to msi and get a different board from them?  some other chipset maybe??
If anyone here knows plz respond.
I think I have wasted by $93.00 on this friggin board
    msi 645emax2 lru
    I Give up!!
    p.s.
how do i do this:?? ""You have the latest ATi driver so try relaxing the memory timings or even lowering the RAM to 266MHz just to see if it becomes stable.""

  • [WTA] MSI P55-GD65 6 phase on all the time? Where's APS?

    Hello, First Post here..
I bought a MSI P55-GD65 lately and it runs spectacular and overclocks nicely. the newer BIOS 1.6 is noticably more stable when High VDroop is used than the BIOS 1.5, resulting in more power-efficient system of my own despite overclocking  .
But nonetheless, i have some issues i would like to be answered:
    1. When I use BIOS 1.5, the core voltage would be dropped to 0.896 (CPU-Z) when i set the core voltage as auto and all the power saving features enabled (C1E & EIST Enabled, C6 state selected, Turbo Mode off). but when i flash into BIOS 1.6, the same setting does not result in decreased voltage, the core clock still slows down though like it used to be. Maybe the next revision of BIOS will fix it?
    2. I searched this forum about APS on P55-GD65, i have found that somebody here had testified that the BIOS 1.6 fixes the all-phase-working problem, as i was having the same problem too. Then i decided to flash to 1.6 too (which work flawlessly with your USB Flasher by the way, kudos  ). But the problem still persists. APS only works when i apply through Control Center. i wonder about APS statement of "will work regardless of operating system" is a true and automated one. And yeah, i have tried to clear CMOS and run it on nominal mode and still no changes from BIOS 1.5. The 6 phase LED is lit all the time unless i "apply" in Control Center.
    My Current system are:
    MSI P55-GD65 (Lotes ILM)
    I5 750
    HD 5770
    Silverstone Zeus 750Watt
    WDC Black 500GB
    Windows 7 Ultimate
    Thanks for your attention.

you have to run the cpu at default settings so (133mhz X multiplier) the slight overclock of the cpu will disable power saving so all the phase leds will constantly be lit up.
Have the multiplier running at 160 because of XPM 1600 memory blocks, and the board runs with 2/3 phases in normal mode.
Are using BIOS 1.3 because of XPM problems with other versions.

  • Dynamic Memory is not working all the time

We are in the process off moving our 2008R2 VM's from the 2008R2 HyperV servers to new Server 2012R2 Hosts.
We shut down the VM's copy the files and VHD's to the new CSV's en import the VM in the Hyperv Manager. Then we make them high available in the Failover Cluster Manager (Configure role - Virtual machine). We mount the integration tools and update the
    VM to version 6.3.9600.16384
    For a specific type of VM (mostly RDS Host servers) we always had Dynamic Memory configured (when they were hosted on de 2008R2 platform), so we are using the same settings on the 2012r2 platform. The memory settings were;
    Startup memory: 1024 MB
    Minimum memory: 1024 MB
    Maximum memory: 12288 MB
These VM's reboot every morning, this is done for specific reasons. But now once in a while (once per week/2 weeks) we notice that the VM's are not using more memory then 1024 MB while the demand is much higher. Rebooting the server helps most of the times,
live migrating to another host also helps. In the VM we see that memory usage in the taskmanager is 99-100%, and after the move it immediately starts using more than the minimum configured amount.
Until the failover the memory usage was 1024 MB and it did not get any higher.
This happened several times. Last week we changed the Memory configuration to:
    Startup memory : 2048 MB
    Minimum memory: 2048 MB
    Maximum memory: 12288 MB
But this morning we had a call about the performance of one of the VM's, We saw that it was only using 2 GB memory while the demand was much higher. After live migrating it to another host it started using more memory immediately.
The 2012R2 hosts are not overcommited, there is a lot of memory still available for the VM's. Those VM's never had this problem on the 2008R2 Hyperv platform.
    Any idea why this happens?

    Peter,
I think this is a bug of some sort. I say that because the components that make up dynamic memory are as follows.
Memory Balancer(Host service, coordinates how memory changes are made.) This is also what shows the memory demand counter i believe.
Dynamic Memory Virtualization Service Provider (this is included your VMWP.exe proccess, one per VM. Essentially how it runs on the host. He listens to the Service Client for metrics)
Dynamic Memory Virtualization Service Client (this is inside the VM and reports to the Dynamic Memory Virtualizaton Service Provider.)
Since you live migrated the machine it made dynamic memory work on the other host. This means the Service Client is running in the client and shouldn't be an issue. The Memory Balancer is the server and shouldn't be the issue, so this means the "Dynamic
Memory Virtualization Service Provider" is in question. When you live migrate the machine its going to create a new VMWP.exe process on the clustered server. So now the question is it the host that couldn't listen to the service or the worker process
skipped a beat and has a bug.
Out of curiosity does it happen to both hosts? Also have you profiled the servers to see how much memory they really require on start-up? When you reboot the RDS servers, how many VM's do you reboot and is it a staggered process?

I assume u guys don't understand what open source software is
Yes, I think most of us do understand what open source software is. It sounds as if you don't. Here's some information:
Open-source software (OSS) is computer software that is available in source code form: the source code and certain other rights normally reserved forcopyright holders are provided under an open-source license that permits users to study, change, improve and at times also to distribute the software.
Open source software is very often developed in a public, collaborative manner. Open-source software is the most prominent example of open-sourcedevelopment and often compared to (technically defined) user-generated content or (legally defined) open content movements.

Yes, Tom Wu of Stanford wrote a paper on something called Secure Remote Access Protocol. It's a form of Asymetric Key Exchange and has nothing to do with hacking anything. It's actually intended to protect data.

  • Laptop fan runs all the time, broker runtime cpu usage after Windows 10 final upgrade

ENVY 17t-J100 Leap Motion, 16 GB RAM, i7, SSD primary, HDD secondary drives. Avast antivirus free. Windows Firewall. The laptop had Windows 8.1 and everything was great. I did the Windows 10 Home free upgrade on Day 1. Everything seemed fine. Fingerprinter reader and everything works. Great. But then I noticed that the fan was always running and the left side of the metal casing gets hot. In task manager heat map sorted by CPU usage, Broker Runtime is at the top. Not much ram, about 10 MB. But the CPU usage is always 20% and higher. Doesn't seem like much. But it makes the fan run all the time and the laptop heats up with it running all the time. Anyone else seen this? General internet searching shows this has been an issue with Broker Runtime since Windows 8 and not unique to any brand of computer. But it wasn't like this when I was using WIndows 8.1 One forum said it was the P2P Windows update feature and my laptop was sharing updates. So I disabled that and rebooted. No change. Now I see some people saying it is the Live Tiles features in the Start Menu. But I had live tiles with the WIndows 8 menu and no issues. The only way to disable Live Tiles globally is to edit the registry, and I shouldn't have to do that for this. And I like Live Tiles. So not sure that really is the issue either.

Have all Windows Updates on Windows 10 been applied since installing it? I know there are people weary to update Windows 10 since there have been a few news reports with some people having the infinite reboot loop after installing a particular update  For me, yes. All updates applied and automatic updates enabled. This Runtime Broker issue has been there since the upgrade and all updates to this point.

  • Memory Cap for a Windows Service to run in the background all the time on Windows 8.1 Device

I have a Windows Store app that would run on a 2GB windows 8.1 Pro tablet. I want to create a service that would run in the background and more than one store app can utilize that service. The question I have is , is there any memory usage limit for the
service to run on a 2 GB RAM tablet?
I am expecting that the service might use 900 MB of RAM when its operational .
    Kindly help

    Hi,
For this situation, it seems that you create a wcf service and host the service on windows service which is running on the 2GB windows 8.1 Pro tablet. And other store app in the tablet can utilize that service.
If you want to limit the memory usage for the service, it's recommended that you could host the wcf service on other machine, such as a computer. You just call the service from the store application if you want to invoke the service.

  • HP xw8600 workstation fans run at max all the time after upgrading CPUs and memory

Hello, This is my 1st post on the forums here so I would like to thank everyone for the help ahead of time. I have an HP xw8600 workstation on which I have upgraded the CPUs and RAM recently - after the upgrade the fans seem to spin at full speed all the time (not just under load). Before the upgrading the fans were barely heard but afterwords the workstation has become very loud. This seems odd that the fans always run fast now and seems like this is not "normal" - what needs to be done to allow the fans to again be modulated by load/temp settings as designed? I looked in the temp and fan RPM settings in the BIOS and it looks like all sensors are working (including ambient temp sensor - was stating around 20 deg. C). Hardware changes:Before - CPU: 2x Intel Xeon X5460/ 3.16 GHz, 12MB L2, 1333 MHz, FSB,120WRAM: HP 32GB (16x2GB) DDR2-667 ECC FBD RAM - using RAM riser After -CPU: 2x Intel Xeon X5492/ 3.40 GHz, 12MB L2, 1600 MHz, FSB,150WRAM: HP 32GB (8x4GB) DDR2-800 ECC FBD RAM - using RAM riser NOTE: From the HP spec sheet it says that 32GB(8x4GB) is not supported by 5492... I am not sure why this is so and do not know if this has anything to do with my fans running very fast. HP 32GB(8x4GB)DDR2-800 ECC FBD RAM RISER Supported ONLY w/dual processors
    5272, 5472, 5482 HP 64GB (16x4GB) DDR2-800 ECC FBD RAM Supported ONLY w/dual processors
    5272, 5472, 5482 and 5492.
Acoustics waiver required. Other than the constantly loud fans the workstation works perfectly with the new setup. Please let me know if anyone has run into this issue with the fast fans and whether there is a fix for this (maybe flashing BIOS?). Any advice is greatly appreciated! [I originally posted this under Desktops section - http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware/HP-xw8600-workstation-fans-run-at-max-all-the-time-after/td-p/3929746]

The xw8600 has a motherboard firmware setting that if it detects high powered processors in place it wants to see the "double tall" performance heatsink/double fans per heatsink in place.  I have posted about that and how I rewired a double tall to use side by side in my xw8400 next to a single tall heatsink/fan to see how cooling was affected in that workstation. The xw8400 did not ever come with double tall performance heatsinks, to my knowledge, so its motherboard's firmware is different. In those posts I also explained how to do a simple jumper wire modification on a single tall heatsink to spoof the xw8600 into thinking it had a double tall/two fans in place over each processor.  Simple and quick. So, you might want to get a couple of double talls off eBay, or try the jumper wire trick.  I'd personally advise to get the double tall heatsinks given that you're running 150W max TDP processors.  If I remember correctly HP wanted you to use the double talls for 120W max TDP and above.  I'd feel comfortable using that trick on a set of 120 watt processors if I was not hammering them frequently, but it sounds like you're a high level power user. The all-fans-on-high can be due to a failed thermisitor in the front power cable reading ambient air temps too high, but you can check that in BIOS to see the temp and it sounds like yours is not elevated incorrectly.  You can search for my experience with that in a xw6600, and it is an easy $8.00-$12.00 fix with a new cable off eBay.  You'd want the longer version for the xw8600, versus the shorter one for the xw6600. Finally, maybe you've just gone too high in your total wattage use?  Those risers can run hot and draw lots of power.  Could you live with less ram and get rid of the risers using 4GB sticks?  Sometimes those prior prohibitions regarding what is and is not supported go away with later BIOS updates.  Is your BIOS the latest? Welcome, and let us know what turns out to be the problem so others can benefit too. Scott
