9926 to 10041 on a Lenovo laptop.

The extreme already has 10041 in it coming from 10039. The lenovo on 9926 however does not find any updates to install under Windows Update.

If you’re already on the Fast ring, and checking for a new build in Windows Update does not find and start downloading Build 10041, you can make sure you have the right Flight Registry Settings.  These settings sometimes get set incorrectly and
we released an update to fix this issue.
Option 1:  Install the Windows Update that will reset your Flight Registry Settings
You can download the update directly from the Microsoft Update Catalog:
Go to http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Search.aspx?q=3038930
Depending on whether you are running an x64 or x86-based system, click on the appropriate download.
After the update is installed, verify you are set to Fast and “Check for Updates” again.
Option 2:  Edit your registry
If you’re not able to install the update, you can instead edit the registry yourself.  A word of warning:  these instructions ONLY apply to devices on Build 9926 that have set
Choose how preview builds are installed
to Fast:
Open regedit.exe
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost\Applicability
Ensure the following values exist:
        {value name}, {value type}, {value data}
BranchName, REG_SZ, fbl_impressive
ThresholdOptedin, REG_DWORD, 1
ThresholdRiskLevel, REG_SZ, low
Delete all other values
Open Settings > Update & recovery > Windows Update
Tap or click Check for updates

  • 9926 - Lenovo Laptop Crashes when doing I/O to Ethernet

I just moved a lenovo laptop to version 10. It crashes when attempting I/O to the eithernet.
Intuition says that the problem relates to the intel 82579LM driver but i dont know for sure. The processor was most reliable prior to putting v10 on it just this morning.
    Please help.

    Hi,
Please upload the related dump files under C:\Windows\Minidump to OneDrive, we should make a further analysis on this issue to check whether this crash is caused by the intel 82579LM driver.
If the driver is indeed the cause of the issue, then please try reinstalling using previous drivers as a test. I have checked the driver on the net, seems there's no appropriate driver at this moment to fix the compatibility issue. It's recommended to report
a feedback on both Microsoft side and manufacture side.

  • New Lenovo laptop: Bluetooth enabled but never sees any devices.

Really nasty one this; Bluetooth working fine under Windows (urgh) but never sees any devices under Linux. No errors at all; it just never sees anything. The device is of this type:
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 0bda:b728 Realtek Semiconductor Corp.
It looks like I'm not the only person with this problem:

I have tried the LTS kernel and get the same problem. I'm not sure what to try to debug it, TBH I can't find out what kernel module is driving it. The radio is definitely detected, powered on and unblocked:

I have another Lenovo laptop running a very similar install of Arch and this works fine. This has a different Bluetooth adaptor though, made by Intel with USB ID 8087:07da. If they're side-by-side I can pair a mouse and a phone to the other one, but nothing at all shows up on the one with the Realtek adaptor. Any help would be very much appreciated!
EDIT: Just tried this laptop with Ubuntu 14.04 and 12.04.5, didn't work with either. Same problem. Bearing in mind the two threads linked above are unanswered and this clearly hasn't broken recently, I guess this adaptor just doesn't work in Linux (yet). Looks like I'll be returning this one to the store, which is a shame as it took me months to find a 1080p laptop for a reasonable price.
EDIT: Unnecessary test but Fedora 20 behaves exactly the same. I'm not sure how many current laptops on the market use this chipset, but it looks like a lot of Lenovos do. I have a netbook with a Realtek SD card reader that stopped working in Linux due to some kernel modules being amalgamated, but it works again with the current kernel. I may just sit tight on this one.

I had similar issues, downgrading to bluez4 might help, but I found it was much more of a hassle.
I had the most success using vanilla bluetoothctl commands to pair with the device, then using dbus commands to register the bluetooth device as a network access point or see device capabilities.
Are you using a network manager? I found NetworkManager was unable to set up the access point due to an error with its dhcp client setup, but connman was able to do it. Or by issuing the right dbus command, I created the network device manually and then ran dhcpcd on it directly.

  • First, i want to know how can i pair my iPhone 5 with my lenovo laptop?

First, i want to know how can i pair my iPhone 5 with my lenovo laptop? and second i want to extend my warranty under apple care in india. how can i do that??

There are many apps in the App Store for transferring files between a computer and an iPhone using a cable, WiFi, or a cloud connection. Box and Dropbox cloud services are the easiest to use; I use Dropbox routinely to transfer business documents to our offices around the world.
Evernote is another widely used cloud service.
For local WiFi transfers there's Documents to Go, Airsharing, QuickOffice, and several dozen more. Documents to Go and QuickOffice also let you edit MS Word documents on the iPhone.

  • Lenovo Laptop report that Windows 7 is no longer genuine

    Hi all,
We have a Lenovo Laptop and we use the recovery disk to downgrade the Windows 8 to Windows 7.
We used the Laptop for about 2 Months and suddenly today it reported that the Windows 7 is no longer genuine. We contacted Lenovo for this issue and they said it is the problem of Microsoft's Activation.
However, we contacted Microsoft Licensing Team and they said our key is not valid!
Is there anyone who can figure out what is the cause of the issue and how to fix it?
    Thank you very much!

  • Is this how dual boot works in Lenovo laptops?

I have a Z580 and I've succesfully installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS alongside Windows 8. Earlier I lost my paritions during Ubuntu install and so I had to do a clean install of Windows using the MSDN version and by using the product key retrieved using RWEverything tool.
    Here are my questions:
When I boot through Ubuntu there is a pause for almost 30 seconds with a blank screen before the Ubuntu startup screen comes up. Is that how it is or is there a way I can fix this?
When I boot Ubuntu boots well, but the Windows boot option doesn't appear in the Grub boot menu. But if I choose Windows boot option in the Boot Menu (by pressing the small button) Windows boots fine. Is this how it works on the Lenovo laptops? It's fine with me and in fact it's more desirable for me so that I can kinda hide Windows which I rarely use. But I'm curious to know if this is how it works and it's not related to the problem described in my first question.

I do not own the same machine, but I can make the following general observations:
Re: the 30 second pause, does that occur before or after the GRUB menu?
A Windows entry can be added to the Boot menu, which is contained in a config text file.
I don't know what you mean by pressing the small button to boot Windows.
My Lenovo laptop dual boots Linux and Windows (but not Ubuntu, and not Windows 8).  The total boot time to Linux is around 45-60 seconds on a regular HDD, and 17-30 seconds on SSD, including Grub.  Windows is about 45-90 seconds on HDD, 30 or so on SSD, including GRUB selection.  That time is from when I press the power button until the desktop is up and the computer is either connected or connecting to Wi-Fi.
Usually, a longer delay with my Lenovo machine is because of having USB drives attached during boot (though I'm not sure why this causes a delay) or because of updates being installed.
There are log files created during boot time that you could research and read if you wanted to know where each chunk of time is going.  I think they are under /var/log/boot or something like that.
    Hope this helps some, anyway.

  • No connectivity in wifi in Lenovo laptop model 2409

I can't connect my Lenovo laptop model 2409 in the wifi network in a campus. Previously it has never been in a wifi atmosphere but worked normally thru service provider data card/dongle. I successfully downloaded and installed the windows XP wifi driver. As I now try to connect it, the wifi logo comed and subsequently vanishes without getting connected. Can anyone please guide me in this regard as I'm still a novice in this area.....B.N.Bhattacharya

  • T 400 replacement and many doubts over Lenovo laptops

    Hi!
I've got a t 400 since 4 years (Intel core 2 duo T8600 CPU, 250 gb hdd 5400 RPM, win 7, discrete ati 3470 card, 1440 x 900 WXGA+ LED Backlit. My battery is gone (1 h, at most). I'd hope to replace it after no big problems by another 14" Lenovo laptop.
But, reading all the situations you've been reporting, I wander if it's actually a good idea.
I just use the laptop for business sake and travel with it everyday, so lightness does matter. I thought about the t 420 and t 420 s as a new laptop. But the first one doesn´t have USB 3.0, and the latter, although ligter, has problems with its 1600x900 display, and fan noise, etc.
Can someone tell me if the t420 with the 1366x768 display also suffers from the same display problems?
I've got some view issues, so I don't want a display where letters and numbers will come very tiny, so not sure about 1600x900, and I need anti glare display.
Will I loose visibility over my current 1440x900 laptop?
With so many problems reported by new Lenovo laptops owners, should I be confident buying a t420 or t 420s?
    Kind Regards

    Hi neo1959,
I've been contemplating the same thing, and for now I've decided to just keep my T400.  There just isn't anything out there that is enough better to justify replacing a perfectly good laptop.
Maybe once USB 3 and/or eSATA becomes common I'll see it differently.  My battery is still OK after 3 years, but I don't run on battery much.  Have you considered just replacing the battery?  Maybe others here can chime in on the merits of Lenovo vs aftermarked batteries.
As to the screen resolution and tiny fonts:  for my purposes 768 vertical pixels just aren't enough.  I run virtual machines that have a fair bit of window "decoration" and there isn't much left for the actual virtual display.  I also don't like scrollng through web pages...
If you go with a higher resolution screen, there are ways to increase the font size (in both Windows and applications) that scale well and retain a crisp look.
Sorry I don't have any answers for you - just the same questions.
    Z.

If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?
If you can't get a working installer via the standard download links, try the following download links instead:
    iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe

  • What adapter and or software do I need to allow my lenovo laptop to be able to use my 20"apple cinema display

what adapter and or software do I need to allow my lenovo laptop to be able to use my 20"apple cinema display?

To start off with, you will need to download iTunes. Make sure that you download the correct version, Windows, and if you have 32-bit or 64-bit. Pictures taken with the iPhone are imported to the computer via Scanner and Camera Wizard in Windows, or can also be copied via Windows Explorer in Computer. Photos are then synced to the computer via iTunes by selecting a folder on the computer that contains photos and they are copied to the computer.
Calendar has to be handled by a supported application. That can be Outlook 2003 or 2007. Other choices include using Google calendar, MobileMe,etc. The latter allow for OTA syncing of calendar. Contacts require a supported application as well, those include Outlook 2003 or 2007, or Windows Address book in Vista, or Windows Mail in Windows 7. You also have the option as above for Google or MobileMe.
Information about what you might want to use is found on the Apple website and descibes the supported applications.
