99min CD-Rs

Has anyone tried using these for burning audio CDs?
If so, what sort of capacity (in mins) did you actually get on them?
Did they work OK on normal CD players?
I have an Intel iMac, so am guessing that if anything can burn them, this should.
Thanks
Andy

Hi erow80, and welcome to the discussions.
Do the CD-Rs you've burned mount when inserted in another computer?
If they don't, one possible culprit is your CD burner. It was more of an issue with older drives three or four years ago, but as burners age or get knocked around, the laser can lose strength or go out of focus. It often isn't enough that the optical drive can't read a factory CD, but it can be enough that it won't read CDRs, and CDRs it burns won't be read by other optical drives.
Another possible culprit is Toast. Have you tried reinstalling?

  • Key figure data in BEx report

    Hi,
We are viewing some of the Key figure data of a particular report as ".", "$21.99MIN" etc, where $21.99 is the original value. When we click on the excel sheet cell and view in the formula bar, data is showing $21.99 correctly. But it is appearing as "$21.99MIN". In some places just"." is appearing where data can be seen in the formula bar.
Tried, converting to Formula option, with which we can see the numbers but as usual it is behaving as a normal excel sheet after applying the function.
Please suggest how to view the correct data for the report.
    Regards

    Hi,
    Thanks for the reply.
It is a direct key figure. Two key figures in the query are displayed like this, while other KFs are displating the values as it is. Also i checked the data in Multi provider, BEx definition of the info object etc, there is no problem.

  • Video problems in DVD SP burned DVDs - FCP frame rate issue?

Please help! We have a 99 minute feature project that we shot in 24p (NOT 24pa) on a DVX100, imported the footage into FCP in 29.97fps, and edited in a 24fps sequence timeline. When we exported the sequence through compressor (DVD High Quality 120min 4:3 option) to create the 23.98fps mpeg-2 and burned it to a DVD using DVD Studio Pro (with aiff audio because DVD SP had a problem importing the Dolby file for some reason), the movie image had blurring or ghosting when played on a dvd player and looked very "digital" (not like 24p).
After reading several postings on here, we thought the problem may have been because we were coming from a 24p timeline. Following a suggestion made to another post, we exported the 24fps sequence into a Quicktime movie and then imported that back into FCP and put it in a 29.97fps timeline. It needed rendering and we did that. Then we exported the new 29.97 sequence through Compressor into a 29.97 mpeg-2 and burned with DVD SP. When played on a DVD player, the video looked better this time, but appears to be moving in a sort of slow motion.
Because of the length of the project, we've been using dual layer DVDs, but the break point doesn't seem to be causing any problems. Also, we've slightly decreased the "Average Bit Rate" in Compressor from 5 to 4.5 before creating the mpeg-2, etc. files because the default description of the 120min high quality setting said "90 minutes of video with AIFF on DVD-5" and our movie is 99min. Taking it down to 4.5 changed the default description to "102 or 103 minutes".
Each time we burn, the video and audio seem to be completely in sync... it looks as though the problem is with the speed and I don't know at this point if this is frame rate, bit rate, pulldown, method of burning (i.e. DVD SP rather than something like Toast).
Sorry for the long post but I wanted to try and include all the info I could. If anything is unclear or I left anything out, please ask. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you thrillcat and Silal! Getting rid of the render files and then copying the 24 sequence into the new 29.97 sequence worked like a charm. There were some minor things to fix (small gaps between certain cuts, audio and video clips that needed to be lengthened or cut by a couple of frames) but overall very painless... especially when compaired with the prospect of having to re-edit or re-import all our footage (as the guy from Apple tech support suggested).
On the advice of our sound editor, we exported the 29.97 sequence using Quicktime Conversion into a DV Stream choosing DVC Pro in the Options field. We then burned the resulting file onto a regular 4.7GB DVD using DVD Studio Pro. And PRESTO, our movie was back in its wonderful 24p state!
I greatly appreciate everyone's help. Thanks again!

  • Over burning with CR52 Multiface

I recently purchased 2 CR52s, unfortunately one of them never worked I am sending it back. My main problem with the working one is that I can not get it to see Infiniti 99 min disks. My old writer (TDK 24x) has no problem with these 99min cds.
I applied the latest firmware from msi live update(3.90).
My TDK drive sees the cd as 92:57.74 817 MB, while MSI sees it as 79:57.72 703MB. these values are from Nero 6.
    any help is appreciated

it seems like the msi driver does not support the 99 min cds. wait for a new firmware update. if they wont release it soon, the driver will never read this cds

  • How to overburn. Extract from HWZ's forum.

All these are extracts from HWZ's forum stickies written by my friend edwin21.
This is for Lite-on 32x 32123S or iomega CDRW15360INT-B or any lite-on oem or any cd-rw drive capable of writing 90/99min CD-Rs
Please make sure that your burner supports overburn faetures through nero> under recorder > choose recoder.. check if nero detected ur burner can overburn.
    1. Make sure u do not use the wizard mode.. close the wizard if u are using it
    2. to enable overburning feature in nero, 1st go to file > preference
to give u a clearer picture that u don't exceed the maximum limit of overburning on a 80/90/99min cd, u can use the status bar to help u mark the limits
to check how much u can overburn refer to step16
if u offen overburn on 80min cd, set:
    Yellow marker : 80:00.00
Red Marker : 81:30.00 or 82:00.00 (if ur cd-r can burn up to 82min)
    for 90min CD
    Yellow marker: 90:00.00
    Red Marker: 93:00.00
for 99min CD (For those capable of overburning on 99min cd)
    Yellow marker : 99:00.00
    Red Marker: 99:40.00
    3. next go to expert features tab
and put maximum cd length to 99min (maximum 99min 40sec)
    4. to comfirm if nero support overburning on ur cd-rw drive.. u can go recorder -> choose recorder or press Ctrl+R to in nero
    5. next choose a compilation u wish to create..
NOTE: for ISO format or any compilation support multisession, if u want to overburn.. u cannot enable multisession or use existing multisession
    6. in the example, i gonna overburn a super vcd with 90min cd
for svcd/vcd, unless u asking nero to convert the video for u, u have to set the video bitrate to fit 90min or the maximum of ur cd-r, other wise u can ignore it
    7. under the burn tab, make sure u enable Finalize CD, and set write method to DISC AT ONCE
    8. next add ur files, as u add, u will see the status bar with time line (some will have MB instead of Time, why i also can't figure out why) make sure it doesn't past the red marker according to u wat u set in step 2.. or the maximum limit of the cd-r u using for my case, i offen overburn on 80min cd.. so never change to 90min setting
    9. now to write..
make sure u leave write method to DISC AT ONCE and check finalize cd...
choose the optimal speed to write..
    10. once u click on WRITE button.. it will show checking disc..
    11. once nero detected the compilation is greater than 80min (700mb) nero will prompt u this dialog wait a few more seconds for the next dialog
    12. if ur overnburning setting is correct, nero will not eject ur cd-r and will pop up this dialog simply click [write overburn cd] to continue
    13. Once u click write overburn cd.. it will continue to burn
    14. if the overburning do not exceed the limit and completed..
    15. Wait for Nero to verify status.
    16. to check how much u can overburn.. u can use nero CD speed to test
    17. select the writing speed and set test capacity to test to test the maximum possible overburning.. set test capacity to 99:57.74
    18. once the cd-rw drive test write to the maximum possible overburn, nero cd speed will show the maximum possible writing on the cd.

The only way I would know how to do this is by using the old iPhone. I have not tried this method so I can not guarantee you it will work. This is a method I found on Google. I have also never used the iPhone Explorer app that they are suggesting you download.
