9i agent on a 8i db server...

I have an 8i (8.1.5) database on Solaris which previously was not monitored via OEM. I installed 9i OEM management to another server (along with a 9i repository) and started the 8.1.5 agent and it discovered the database, listener, etc.
I then stopped the agent and install the 9i agent to a new ORACLE_HOME and tried to rediscover the agent.
The agent gets discovered along with the os info and oracle_home info, but it dosen't discover the database, listener, etc...
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

According to Oracle technical support doc, oem9i doesn't support Oracle 8.1.5 database. here is the doc I found:
6. Which database releases are compatible with the 9i Agent?
An Intelligent Agent can monitor and manage a database whose version is the same or lower than the Intelligent Agent's version. For example, Intelligent Agent Release 9i supports database versions 9i, 8.1.7.x, 8.1.6.x, and 8.0.6.x.

Does that mean protecting Exchange 2007 on Win2K3 is no longer an option after upgrading to DPM 2012 R2 (UR2)? It works on DPM 2012 SP1 but I need to know if it will continue to work after upgrading.

Yes, Exchange 2007 backup will continue to work. I think that due to the timeframe of the UR2 release not all workloads were able to be re-certified, thus the limit in supported workloads.

Using SDK (SSOToken) with Agent 2.1 on Application Server 8.1

My environment:
Access Manager from JES 2005Q1 unpatched running on Application Server 8.1_02 build b10_fcs
An application � protected by agent 2.1 - running on Application Server 8.1_02 build b10_fcs. The application is also using the API for creating a SSOToken like the code below
SSOTokenManager manager = SSOTokenManager.getInstance();
SSOToken token = manager.createSSOToken(request);At first I always got an SSOException: Data is not Base64 encoded.
Afterwards I changed in AMConfig.properties on the Access Manager the property com.iplanet.am.cookie.encode from true to false. Now I was able to sometimes call the above API code. But sometimes I even did not get access to the application with an �java.lang.RuntimeException: Data is not Base64 encoded. � Exception showing in amSSOProvider debug file on the Agent.
For reference I attach the server debug files and the agent debug files.

Yes there is a MDK 2.1 that you can run in eclipse.
MDK 2.1 was delivered with MI2.1 and was downloadable untill 2.5 was released I believe.
Running MDK2.5 with 2.1 will probably not work. There have been some changes in the sync layer. We've tried without success.

VMM Agent install fails on Windows Server 2012 R2 Hyper-V

Hi,
We are unable to install VMM 2012 R2 agent on Windows Server 2012 R2 server either from VMM console or manually on the hyper-v server.
Error on VMM Console:
Error (410)
Agent installation failed on chsicoecdh03.casper.com.
Fatal error during installation (0x80070643)
Recommended Action
Try the operation again. If the problem persists, install the agent locally and then add the managed computer.

So, I've managed to research this some more since Thursday and I've come to the conclusion that Hyper-V does a horrible job of supporting Qualcomm NIC cards. That's the only thing I can conclude as far as where the issue is originating. I've read many
post and walkthroughs but nothing that has helped. The issue wasn't with any settings in the domain controller. The issue was that there really is a slow connection originating at the domain controller that is a VM and has network connectivity through the
virtual switch from Hyper-V. So, next question is, how do I get the DC to have better connectivity through the NIC that Hyper-V won't give it? If hyper-v would allow passthrough, this would be so much simpler. VM-ware is looking really good at this point.
Im disappointed in MS right now.

User created SQL Agent Job that uses linked server with Windows authentication

OK, here's what I want to do, but not sure exactly what I need to accomplish it.
Environment
Windows 2008 Enterprise
SQL 2012 Enterprise
SQL Server & SQL Agent running under AD account (which has local Windows Administrative privileges...yes, I know..bad!)
Linked server to Teradata utilizing AD account mappings (the linked server works successfully and each windows login is mapped to a Teradata LDAP login)
Requirement
Allow non sysadmins to create SQL Agent jobs which execute TSQL statements which use OPENQUERY(LDAPLinkedServer, '....) syntax
I've already given the non sysadmins the necessary permissions to create and run SQL Agent jobs, and I understand that the jobs run under their login context, but I suspect that I'm missing something when it comes to the linked server.
Each windows user could have access to different databases/tables on the Teradata system that even I (the SQL Server sysadmin) don't have access to.
How can I facilitate this functionality? Any ideas?

I think I may have been over complicating the Teradata piece. The authentication methodology in Teradata is LDAP, which just means that it authenticates against AD, but you still have to submit your Windows login & password. It doesn't automatically
authenticate you just because you're logged into Windows.
The linked server has the mapping for the individual windows logins like:
Local Login = <domain>.<windows id>
Remote User = <windows id>
Remote Password = <windows password>
This setup requires the user to have to change the passwords in the linked server whenever they change their passwords according to domain policy (every xx days)...but we've created a utility proc that they can use to do this.
So, I'm thinking that Teradata isn't really part of this equation.

The debugger agent is not enabled on server....

We have to weblogic instances and IDM is deployed in both these instances.
When I am trying to start the debugger on server1 I do get this error:

I have checked and modifed the sys.config object in both the instances and restarted the server instances on both but still the error persisted.
Am I missing anything here?

Let me tell you that inside of the server that I want to check there is only one instance of Oracle Application Server. Please let me know if you have already done something like this recently.

Agent Desktop Error when CCM1 server fails..

I have configured IPCCX in HA environment.. so there are two CCM servers (CCM1 and CCM2) and two IPCCX servers (IPCCX1 and IPCCX2)..i have configured extension mobility service in redundant mode...I also associated the phone with RM JTAPI provider.. every thing works fine when both ccm servers are up, means agent are able to login to both phone and the agent desktop.. but when i remove the network cable of CCM1. the phone successfully login (after some delay).. but agent desktop gives the following error..
"Login failed due to configuration error.. please ask your system administrator to associate your phone with the rmjtapi provider user id according to the instruction in the administrator guide"
Even though i have associated the RM CM Jtapi provider with the phone... this situation only occurs when i down the ccm1 server.. if both servers are up every thing works fine.... any idea about it...

i added the ip addresses of the cucm server with the hostnames in ipccx servers on the following location and it resolved the issue.
c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc
i entered the ip of ccm and ipccx with host names in the "host" and "lmhost" files...

AV Agent and OS Collector after server reboot

We are using Oracle AV Server and AV Agent on version 10.2.0.3.2 with Bundle Patch #1.
If the target server reboots, both AV agent and OS Aud collector does not come up automatically ?
Is that a normal behavior ? or we have to do some modifications to get it automatically started.

You could put it as a startup script, but there isn't anything already written. I call a cron script every hour to make sure that the collectors and agent is up. We had to setup trusted connections from the avagent -> avserver to start the collectors:

DPM 2012 R2 agent update on Windows 2003 server x64

I have an old windows 2003 server x64 protected by DPM 2012 Sp1. After DPM upgrade to 2012 R2 I cannot update DPM Agent on server. If I try to update agent manually error message is : agentsetup.exe is not a valid win32 application.

Agent Installation for windows/sql server

I am new to OEM and trying to download OEM Agent for SQL Server
I downloaded both the patches as well as the full install mentioned in the following URL.

Both the links point to the same zip file GridControl_10.2.0.3_Win32.zip and it doesn't look like a full install.
The readme file asked to install from a CD Rom.
Anyone have same experience before. & know where to download the OEM agent for SQL server?

Zcm agent killed my sles 11 server

Installed Zen 11.2.1 Agent on sles11 sp1 server, with the intent of making it a satellite server. Install went fine UNTIL I rebooted
Now on boot I get could not find /dev/disk/by-id

Except I am just installing the agent.
Now how do I get the server up so that I can get the agent off of it.

Booting with the SLES11 SP1 install media and choosing the repair option might be the quickest way. I find it strange though that the agent would mess with the initrd files or fstab for that matter (as stated in the thread you mention). There does however seem to be a pattern here..
Leting the repair system check and fix might be all what's needed... instead of something getting messed up in fstab... could be you are missing a driver/module after agent install.
What does your partition layout look like? And which filesystems and hardware are you using for this SLES system

Agent update on VMM management server

Hi!
I just installed Update Rollup 3 for SCVMM 2012 R2. Updating the agents on all hosts in the fabric was smooth sailing, but the "Agent Version" on the VMM management servers (clustered) still shows 3.2.7510.0 (base R2 installation). Viewing
the Properties of the servers it shows that RU3 is installed, but I can't figure out how to update the VMM agent on these management servers.
Does anyone have ideas on how I can update the agents to the latest version? I am guessing that the management servers' agents also are supposed to be updated after rollup installations, not just the other servers in the fabric?

The SCVMM Server Agent should be updated on the SCVMM Server when the SCVMM Server UR is applied.
Past experience is that this is the expected behavior.
The Agent (being its own component) will have a different version from the SCVMM Server itself. If there was no need to update the agent in the UR, then it would not revise.
I know that UR2 included an agent update as I had to push new agents to my Hyper-V Servers - I have not updated to UR3 yet.

Policy Agent on BEA WebLogic when server instance runs as windows service

hi.
my environment is: win2k3, bea weblogic server 8.1sp4, access manager 7.1 and policy agent 2.2. installation process of policy agent asks for server startup script (startWebLogic.cmd) which i found under my server instance catalogue. the only issue is that my server instance is installed as a windows service and should not be started in a command window.
am i safe with just specifying the path to the startup script or is there another way of dealing with this issue?
might be a dumb question, but it would be nice to be sure that i'm doing the right thing before i go ahead and install policy agent. :)

Hi,
I have not set it up as a window service but can try to help. for one thing, this step is not permanent and if it does not work then you can undo this step by re-editting the script to remove the line you added. This step has you change the bea startup script for that domain to call the agent script setAgentEnv_AdminServer(it ws copied into bea domain directory during installation of agent) which just sets some agent resources in the classpath. If you start bea and those things are not in the classpath etc then agent wont work. So no permanent damage, you can change it if it doesnt work.
I suggest you try it out and start the bea server as a service and see if it works - if not try again.
I am not sure what the windows service would use to start the app server, but somehow it must specify some environment properties and things in its classpath, so if this script doesnt work then you can just do the things in the setAgentEnv_AdminServer script like setting those things in classpath.
Please let us know if it works and if any extra steps required? Would be helpful to others to know how to configure as a windows service.
