9i IAS install

I installed 9I IAS 1.0.2.2.2 on a AIX unix machine. Once the install was finished, this URL was created http://lennox:7777
So I went to the browser and typed http://lennox:7777 this works great.
also I set the formsweb.cfg file. I made the changes so that it points to my serverhost and the serverURL
serverHost=lennox:7777
serverURL=http://lennox:7777/servlet/oracle.forms.servlet.ListenerServlet
then I went to this URLs to see if the servlet is working. so I typed
http://lennox:7777/IsItWorking
http://lennox:7777/servlet/oracle.forms.servlet.ListenerServlet
these do not work.
Does anyone know why I can't get to these URLS.
Also I made sure that the files were there, and they were.
anyhelp would be appreciated
William

If you had reviewed previous posts, you would have seen a post I made on August 6th, in which I stated...
I just installed Oracle 9iAS v. 1.0.2.2 for Linux on RedHat 7.1 and on the RedHat 7.2 beta (Roswell)...
Basically, to get it to install (and behave!), you'll need preferably a 2.4.x series kernel and glibc 2.2.x, XFree86-libs and XFree86-devel >= 3.3.6, & openmotif and openmotif-devel. You don't even need the full XFree86 biraries package, as long as you extract xauth and xterm and put them in /usr/X11R6/bin (or wherever)...then redirect your display to some other X workstation to install. As long as you have these on your system, it doesn't matter what distro you run...you could even roll your own distro and still get it to install correctly.
Remember, Linux is Linux is Linux...not RedHat, SuSE, or whatever.
Good luck!

  • Can I use existing 10g iAS install with Application Express?

I apologize if this has been addressed somewhere else, but I haven't been able to find a definitive answer yet.
I have a 10g DB installed on machine A, and have been following the instructions to install Application Express. Instead of installing another instance of HTTP_Server (from the companion CD) on machine A, I have machine B with a full 10g iAS install on it (discoverer, portal, infrastructure, etc). I would like to use machine B as the front end to access htmldb. Machine B has 2 oracle homes, one for the infrastructure and one for the BI tools/portal stuff. Which one do I configure for htmldb? From reading in this forum I think I can use the dads.conf file instead of the marvel.conf file (which doesn't exist) to add the pls/htmldb info, but I can't figure out which one to edit. I probably have something else wrong somewhere, but this would help narrow things down. Currently when I go to the following url http://machineb:7778/pls/htmldb I get "503 Service Temporarily Unavailable".
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Rhonda

Sure, you can use the Application Server, no need to install another one.
You would add the configuration to the BI tools/portal stuff Oracle Home, not the infrastructure.
You don't need the marvel.conf explicitly (but this is installed per default when you install the http server from the 10g companion CD).
You could just add the DAD configuration to the dads.conf.
To make it a bit simpler I would do the following:
    1) remove the entries for /pls/htmldb from your current dads.conf (if they exist).
    2) follow the instructions here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/howtos/howto_useoas10g.html
And use the following for the contents of the file marvel.conf (make sure to change it accordingly for your environment (changes to make are bold):
    AddType text/xml xbl
    AddType text/x-component htc
    Alias /i/ /home/oracle/oracle/product/10.2.0/db/htmldb/images/

  • 9i iAs install on same Solaris box w/8.1.6.0.0

    What torture!
    I installed Oracle 8.1.6 on a Solaris 2.7 Enterprise 250 w 512 meg Ram.
    Installed in the ORACLE_HOME /atl/ora816
And established a new user 'oracle'
to own the database, and the group 'oinstall'.
After that tried to install the 9i iAs on the same box the following times:
    1) Try number one: created a new user, 'ias' to own the new ORACLE_HOME, '/pac/ias', into which I installed the HTTP_Server only business; the iAS installer failed to install the portal repository on the main database. It also failed to install the owa_htp or owa_util packages. Gave errors with the 'nngt.o' in makefile during construction. So I uninstalled (at which point curiously it runs the Portal install program, NOT during installation), erased, etc and tried
    2) using the same oracle user as the main database installation, with a new ORACLE_HOME, /pac/ias, gave it a nice big TMP directory setting to install. Had similar errors. Uninstalled, erased, attempted
    3) Using the same ORACLE_HOME as the main database installation. Got an error; tried to run svrmgrl got an error that libswctl.so or somesuch was not found; erased everything dealing with Oracle, looked at Microsoft SQL server product offering. Giving one more good go at installing the database from scratch and then the iAs. What am I doing wrong here, what is the correct way to do it? I just want to serve a web page with mod_plsql, not much, but I have to install 1.8 gigs of confusing and vaguely documented software to get there?

    Hi,
The upgrade from 8.1.6 to 9.2 with full export method doesn't work, and it seems normal if we read the metalink note 132904.1 about Compatibility Matrix for Export & Import Between Different Oracle Versions.
    Try an export/import schema level.
    Nicolas.

  • IAS install fails with dbca

    Hello,
I'm trying to set up a test installation of iAS 9.0.2.0.0 on Tru64 UNIX 5.1, and while the installation of the iAS infrastructure runs without problems up to the point where the configuration assistants are started, the Oracle Database Configuration Assistant (dbca) fails with the following error message:
ORA-00101: invalid specification for system parameter DISPATCHERS
As the database creation is a central point of the configurations, lots of the other configuration assistants fail too, and the installation is unusable.
    Can somebody help me, please?

  • One iAS for two Portal DBs with the same URL

We are looking at using a single iAS install but having
two different Portal Databases at the back-end (E.g.
one for employees, the other for customers). The initial
    URL would be the same.
Is this possible. Has it been tried ?
(Also see my alternate post on two iASs with the
    same initial URL).

Not possible, certified or supported, anyways you cannot have two SIDs for the same DB can you?

  • IAS & Firewall configuration (NAT)

    Hi,
We got an iAS instalation in which the Web Connector & the iAS separated by a firewall that's making NAT.
In our configuration we forward port 10818 in the firewall to port 10818 in the iAS machine, and we make a similar configuration with LDAP.
Apparently the Web-Connector is able to connect with the LDAP and the iAS, but we detect a latency of about 7-8 scnds, since the Web-Connector firstly tries to connect with the private-internal address of iAS.
Is this behavior the correct or is there any solution/patch in order to avoid this problem.
    Thanks a lot,
    David

    Hey,
What is the network latency when you ping from webconnector m/c to appserver m/c. If that is also 7-8 secs then it is normal behaviour. If not check whether you have 389 ldap port is open. It seems that you are able to connect to ldap but what do you mean by " web connector firstly tries to connect with the private-internal address of iAS" .
Is iAS and weboconnector on a differenct subnet.

  • Configuring Web Server (IWS 6.0) on separate machine with IAS 6.0 SP3 (test drive)

    Hi All,
I want to install the application server (IAS 6.0 SP3) on a Unix (Solaris 8)
server and web server (IWS 6.0) on another Windows NT server, in another
    words a webless installation.
I have installed the IWS 6.0 on the NT machine and IAS 6.0 SP3 on the Unix
server successfully, but am having problem on the NT machine because the NT
version of the IAS 6.0 SP3 Evaluation doesn't allow installation of just the
web connector, and so I installed the whole package and then tried to
manually change the configuration so that hopefully it will marshall the
requests to the IAS installed on the Unix server. I couldn't get it to work
and it is giving an error that says
    GX Error (GX2GX)
    socket result code missing!!!
Have anyone else come across this scenario? I will appreciate it if you
could enlighten me on how it can be done. Thanks in advance.
    Christopher Lam

    Hi,
You donot have any option to choose a perticular component with iAS testdrive on
NT. So, you can not install only plugin at the webserver end.
I think manual editing doen not help. Can you please let me know what
    modifications have you done clearly.
    Thanks,
    Rakesh,
    Developer-Support, iAS.

  • IAS 10.1.3.5

    Hi,
I have installed 10.1.3.5 on top of my 10.1.3.4 iAS install. I'd like the rollback to 10.1.3.4, but i cant seem to do this using the OUI. Is there any way to do this?
One option I can see is to remove the entire installation and reinstall 10.1.3.0 and then patch it up to 10.1.3.4, but this seems a bit extreme.
    Thanks for your help,
    Niall

You need to run the installer as runInstaller.sh/setup.exe -deinstall and see if the options change.
Also the de-installation of this product is quite fast as well the isntallation, so I dont find it so exprem unless you have a lot of config changes, that as well, you may backup and apply to new installation.

We went through this issue at length in another thread and finally resolved it without knowing why.
    Here is the thread
SOA configuration : Build failed (error is soa-infra-java.log)
Here is the bit from that thread with the resolution details:
I did the following steps (and it works):
    = stop JDeveloper
    = stop running java process
    = renamed jdevinstance to jsaveinstance
= start JDeveloper in the same command prompt
= start the configure SOA again
= and after 7 minutes: Build Succesful
    I did NOT :
= put off the laptop (stand-by mode)
    = change environment variables
    = environment settings
    = install/unzip other programs
Let us know how this works for you!
    Heidi.

  • Facing Proble while installing Oracle 9iAS

    Hi All,
I am facing a problem while installing the Oracle 9iAS software..I have Windows NT Service Pack 6a .. When I am installing the Oracle 9iAS the installer showing an error "Windows Systems File has not been run on this system. One or more Operating System Files currently use need to be updated".
What could be the proble.. Could u please help me out regarding this..
    Thanx in Advance,
    Satheesh

you have to have some system files in winnt system by oracle installer.
you can do this by ..
1)remove all ias installed products and its services from thet host.
    2)run "wfs.exe" from 9iAS disk1.
    3)reboot your host computer.
    4)install iAS .

  • Can i install Ora9iAS Infrastructure and Ora9iAS Midtier in same machine??

    Hello,
I want to clarify whether i can install the Ora9iAS infrastucture and Ora9iAS midtier in the same machine?? Since i try to install but giving error on this
Unable to verify connection to this OID instance. Please verify your Hostname, Port, username and Password or verify that the OID services is running.
I'm not sure whether there is anything wrong?? Please help.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Yes you can install Oracle9iAS Infrastructure and Middletier on same m/c. However you need to install both of these in different oracle home and install infrastructure prior to middletier.
    Regarding to your problem...
During middletier installation you will be prompted for infrastructure hostname and port number. Ensure that you enter just the 'hostname' and NOT 'http://host'
Also check that 'host' file on the server machine is updated. This file is located at C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc. You have to make entry for ip address and hostname in this file.
Another note: Oracle9iAS installation needs 'fully qualified hostname'. i.e. just 'myhost' won't work. try myhost.mycompany.com
Your host file entry will look like
    80.81.82.83 myhost.mycompany.com
Refer to http://otn.oracle.com/products/ias/install-faq.html for further details. especially point # 11 and 15
