9i install hangs at 54% (at globalization support file - udc_zht.txt)
On our Business\Admin WinXP PCs with SP2, I instal 6i forms and reports (including 8i client), then patchset 13, then attempt the 9i client install. Usually, the 9i client install hangs at 54% (at globalization support file - udc_zht.txt). Some 9i installs have worked while others have failed. Identical hardware (IBM ThinkCentres). Any one else had this problem? What was the solution?

This would not have happen if LION comes with a DVD.
I think Apple is trying to discourage Mac users from using Window 7?I had the same problem. I searched all over the internet and could not find a place to manually download the Boot Camp 4.0 Windows 7 support files.
I have now managed to get everything working by getting Apple staff to manually provide the files to me on a usb disk.

When the zip file has finished downloading, extract all the files into a usb disk and proceed installing Windows 7 via Boot Camp 4.0 without downloading the support files.
Once Windows 7 is installed, open your usb disk (within Windows 7) and install the support files. After the support files have been installed, Windows 7 will recognise all the hardware and start working correctly. -
Cannot install application, because it is ''not supported file type"
hi, i cannot install an application from emule. The message is the the Adobe Reader could not open "insallpro.exe" because it is not a supported file type.

A .exe file is a windows executable file and will not run on a Mac unless you have virtual PC installed. -
Oracle 9i install hangs in Linux SMP Redhat 7.1
Motherboard: Asus A7M266-D
CPU: Two AMD Duron 1.2GHz
Memory: 512MB PC2100
Vedio: Gforce 4 MX440
hard disk: MAXTOR 6L080L4
O/S: Redhat 7.1
Kernel: 2.4.2-2up and 2.4.2-2smp
I install Oracle 9i on my dual AMD Duron machine. It hangs. If
I am using smp kernel, it stop at the Installation Types Screen
with Status Bar showing 47% complete and 'Setting up install types'.
If I use single single cpu kernel, it stop at the File Locations
screen and the status bar is 95% complete. The installActions.log
does not show any error.
It is the installActions.log when running under smp mode ( I took
out a lot of setting value of PROD_HOME lines):

Forms & Reports Runtime 6i with XP with 8.1.7 Middleware, Forms install hangs.
Here it goes!
I work at a large corporation and we have random installer problems with Forms Runtime and Reports Runtime. We have an image that includes Oracle 8.1.7 TCP/IP and ODBC middleware installed on XP under an Active Directory environment. Our problem is, and it became wierd as the installs went on through the last few days... We started out by installing Forms Runtime and all the support files that are, by default, included, then exit the installer, then start an install of Reports Runtime, which worked fine, all was good and the software developed for us worked great. Did I mention we're deploying XP machines at 1.6 GHZ P4's? The next thing you know it, We could only install Forms Runtime but not Reports Runtime! The installer raises an error suggesting the orainst.exe failed.
After some quik research that seemed to solve it, we found that the PATH in the XP registry was altered from EXPANDED_REG_SZ to REG_SZ. We would change it back to EXPANDED_REG_SZ, reboot, and then continue on.... Everything seemed to be solved.
BUT THEN TODAY we cannot even do that. We get as far as installing the Forms Runtime and now 99% of the time we cannot install the Reports Runtime without raising the error of ORAINST.EXE.
Once I changed only 1 entry in the registry called NLS_LANG to NA as type REG_SZ and it installed... I cannot repeat the problem, I tried.
Is this a Rights problem? That's basically what I have boiled it down to. We are changing from an NT server environment to Active Directory and might be experiencing problems relating to rights.
All I can say, is this is the strangest thing I've seen in my 20 years in IT! Nothing makes sense. I did find a couple clues such as using 256 color mode, DEFAULT_HOME should be the name, bvut everything was flawless for about 3 days and 25 installs... Things got worse as the days went by. HELP!!!Apparently this isn't a major concern with Oracle or the user community, as I'm still awaiting a solution to a similar problem, that is, in ability to install Developer and Designer 2000 with 9i already loaded on XP. Unable to read the list of homes from the inventory.If your library is in the standard layout of an iTunes folder containing an iTunes Media folder (and you've already copied over the media) then you can simply copy the iTunes library files and album artwork folder across to the new machine recreating the same layout. If the media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder then see make a split library portable for a way to get the library into a portable form, after which you can copy over the library files.

Specifying the location of the support files while building installer.
Mr requirement is to store a support file in a directory just above the install directory.
example...
my support file is good.xls
I have installed my application at c:\motion\move\go.exe
I want the support file to be installed automatically at c:\motion\infos\template\good.xls. when i install my application.
i tried to do this by specifying the path at the files tab in the installer settings. I am not clear with the destination directory settings.

let me see if I undersood your problem: you need to build an application with which a support file has to be created in the sub-folder INFO\TEMPLATE relative to the main folder where the program is installed; and you want to leave the possibility to choose the main folder.
If this is correct, I modified your build file to show how to do it.
Open the test3.bld with the app. builder:
- Target tab: here you set the destination of your application when you hit the Build button;the support file directory is where the builder and installer will place automatically any needed support file ( for example dlls)
- Source files tab: click on custom destinations and select test.txt; you see that the destination is c:\test\info\template. Thi
s is the place where this speciific support file will be placed when buiding the app.
- Switch to Installer Settings tab: you see that the default installation foldet is Program files with sub-folder Application. This is the default destination of your application when you run the installer. But keep in mind that you have the option to change this destination during installation (you get a message dialog).
- Hit the Files button and select Test.txt. The installation destination is set to Install directory (it is the destination directory you choose during install). And as Insatllation application subdirectory I typed info/template. This is the path destination of your support file relative to installation dir.
With the installer created you can choose the install dir. and the test.txt will be created in \info\template.

10.2.0.2 Database Install Hangs on AIX 5.3
We have four new, recently-configured, AIX servers with same configuration with respect to IBM patches, kernel settings, etc. The install on our second server hangs while the other three installs successfully completed. It's not a connectivity issue with x-windows software or Putty as the OUI screen displays correctly and we enter all our install details.
We get as far as the Summary screen, at which point we review the parameters to be used, then select "Install" and the 10g screen comes up (where you would normally see progress status) and nothing else happens. Eventually the screen washes out and nothing happens. We have downloaded new copies of the software from OTN, as well as transferred copies of the files from one of the successful servers, but with the same results.
I have attached the contents of the install log file below and hope that someone may have a moment to review and point out something that may be causing the install issue. I am available to provide any additional information as requested.

9.2.0.6 on RHEL 5 x86_64. Install Hangs: Link Pending... Copying naeet.o
I am trying to install 9.2.0.6 on RedHat EL 5 (x86_64). I am getting a known error, where the Installer hangs on 18% completion.
The step it hangs at is "Installing Oracle Required Support Files 32 bit 9.2.1.0" and the text above the status bar is "Copying naeet.o"
As per OTN Tread ID 258788, the fix is to export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.1, but because I'm running RHEL 5, that does't apply (in fact, setting the LD_ASSUME_KERNEL in RHEL 5 breaks everything! See Metalink Doc 377217.1)
Any ideas? Please help!

Install a currently supported, not an antique, version of the Oracle database supported with your operating system version.

Spend countless hours being frustrated by trying to install old software on an operating system on which it was never certified is not recommended. -
When trying to instal Designer install hangs at 11% while trying to instal pl/sql things. I am trying to install the suite on win xp pro machine. Does anybody knows the solution?

Unfortunately, Oracle has a separate development and
testing team for installing the 9iDS pack with the
Oracle Universal Installer. We work closely with the
team and we are not aware of any problems for this
part of the install. It's possible that if you have
downloaded the iDS pack from OTN, your download may
be corrupted.
All I can suggest is that you post your query to the
Downloads disucssion forum (see 'OTN Member Services'
group on the forums menu) or see Metalink for more
information/support (http://metalink.oracle.com).
I will pass on your query to our testing team here
though for their reference and let you know if they
have any comments.

Remove all traces of Reader (not only the program) from your system using the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. This is no longer supported by Microsoft because it can produce problems with Win 7, but you can still download it from from places like
http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
Then, download the Reader installer from
http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
and perform a clean install. -

I have installed the Primary instance, then installed the empty database on the standby server. Installed SRS on the standby (without the
configuration) option, then gone back to the Standby and I am now in the process of installing SRS on there (it asks you for the primary and
standby site and
ports etc) it's happily accepted, but it seems to have just hung at the point
mentioned (see screenshot) and it keeps writing the isql64** files
(where
** is incremented number.
but
I am working from the Primary.
eg:
isql64
isql64.2301
isql64.2300
isql64.2299
The install hasn't failed, it's just hanging and spewing out to these files...has anyone seen this before?...Could someone, please, tell me what I'm missing here?!Hi Neil,

PS CS4 upgrade install hangs while checking system profile
System is a Core 2 Duo 6700 with 4GB, XP2 Pro SP3.
Installing PS CS4 upgrade over CS3.
Downloaded file unpacks OK, but when running Setup the Checking System Profile bar gets to about 90% the PS Setup window flashes up for barely a second, then the install hangs, ie no further progress with the Checking System Profile (left if for 20 mins or so).
I've downloaded and run a new CS4 upgrade file from Adobe store. No change.
I've added SP3 (was on SP2), no change.
Any one seen this or have any ideas?

I've been dragging through the installer mud for CS4 ever since a sunny summer day in 2007, so I clearly know some of that stuff... ;-) And sorry to say so, it's simply not the off-screen dialog problem in most of these cases (which a look at the installer logs would very likely confirm). We can discuss this further off-list, if you feel like it, so shoot me a mail to mylenium|-|at|-|mylenium.de. I sure would like to get to know some of the Photoshop-Aliens a bit better (as someone rooted in the video, compositing and 3D world) :-D

Simply move them all out of the way or rename them and see what happens. The installer will create the folders again if needed and if e.g. you still need to run CS3, simply renaming/moving them back to their original state will still work (as long as you don't touch any folders related to licensing or shared core functions such as Anchor Service or Linguistics). If you're not feeling adventurous, then call support, they will provide you with more detailed explanations and hold your hand ;-)

Hi Gurus, I need to chage the address of the checkts. Now when executing the f110 it generates the idoc. In that i doc i can able to see the address. I unable to find these address from where it is coming . When i am testing this one in Quality syst
